Every sunrise, this bird visits a woman for cuddles

my name is carol and this is mr snuggle's story for geo beats he's a really amazing reminder that no matter who you are where you are or what you are there's the opportunity to connect [Music] thank you gorgeous the interpersonal connection the inner species bonding that we've had has been really spectacular he's the light of my life we've had snuggles for almost two years love you [Applause] [Music] my husband was over at a neighbor's house he noticed something down in the grass looked down and saw this little tiny creature crawling through the wet grass he picked him up looked around couldn't find a nest couldn't find parents didn't see anything i took him back to see if i could find his parents couldn't see anything took him home started feeding him kept going back over every day to see if i could find the parents i had to feed him every hour or two from sunrise to sunset after that period of just figuring out what do we do then it became the realization of we have a bird we're raising in our house and i have a cat that lives in our house [Music] maurice is another rescue and we worked really hard to teach maurice that the bird was not something to be played with [Music] mr snuggles fell in love with maurice and i have rabbits as well bunnies today we had to teach snuggles how to fly so that he could get up off the ground the way i could bribe him to work on flying was with his feeding syringe because he was so imprinted on the syringe that any time he saw it he wanted it it worked he's a fabulous flyer [Music] hi good morning i have around 200 of his friends that i feed breakfast and dinner when i feed i can't tell the difference between any of them but he and i talk so all i have to do is make a couple clicks and instantly he'll perk up and respond [Music] during the day he loves being in the house with us [Music] he goes where he wants we don't have a cage [Music] the sunset comes they all fly down to a valley below our houses and sleep in the trees together good night over the summer i was able to find out which tree he slept in i went down below and as i was trying to watch to see where he would land he actually landed on me and so we hung out down for a little while and then when it was getting dark he flew up into the tree and a bunch of his friends flew into the tree and then he started singing to me from the big trees good morning little buddy at sunrise he shows up in the tree right outside my bedroom and sings to me until i get out of bed good morning because he didn't have his family i would get youtube videos and play their songs hoping they would help him imprint on singing and his development and so it took him months it took maybe about three months for him to figure out his song watching the show huh we ended up falling in love with the bunnies he likes to pull their whiskers while they're eating they look at him and they'll sniff him a little bit but they've never had any aggression towards him don't take my money hi cutie pie we love hawaii and especially all the nature that's in hawaii that's one of the greatest gifts of being here and getting this opportunity to have a deeper experience of nature with mr snuggles every time he takes off i always have a moment of prayer that he's protected and he's safe ready go [Music]
