come off a double bogey at four that was the low Point coming right back for birdie at five Frank you're the stroke we've seen it uh from close rank several times putter is well sold hang on somehow right the Miss in what is pretty thick rough right around that green and now tiger in the bunker it's a makeable shot this one how about that call that's what tiger was thinking too wow on the seventh now absolutely brilliant hole I love this whole Tiger Woods with the driver it just asked for a little fade this one of my favorite holes if not my favorite on this golf course it's a big knock down there slight up slow it makes it a lot easier well birdie opportunity means he's gonna hold it out again all right the Bunker play for Tiger Woods is spot on right now by now he owns this new swing it's his not working on it he's not changing it and so on and so forth put to try and hold one 71 is a seven eye for Tiger playing just a little bit uphill smooth seven iron number five north and all the way never a doubt [Music] nice 30 half five coming up he'll be bombing it off the tee there just a gentlest of Breezers maybe help him with this tee shot but uh I think that needed a little bit more than help from the breeze Big Bounce scarp has four two bunkers down the right two bunkers on the other side of the Fairway sort of sets up for a cut as well so I just I hit that little out of the toe or turn the face on it and a long bunker shot left for woods and we'll see what the LIE is as well if it's up against that face or that lip last two bunker shots were excellent this is the hardest of the three because of the length and that every bit as good as the other two oh that's spectacular speaking of comebacks Tiger Woods was back in the winter Circle three wins continuing at the Ryder Cup yeah it's just a short par for this one 416 yards well I I am very impressed Phil with his rhythm today in his effort level in the golf swing I think for a while now the positions have been far better than his rhythm and uh he's got that under control today five under par for the last five holes aiming well left and starting the ball well left yeah he had to fly it all the way and he did now and again when your game is on your distance control is on never got it started on the right line that's a misread there because that ball started exactly where he had the putter aimed broke away from the hole still 500 for his last six holes isn't all bad yes a little bit of a plateau effect protecting the hole today not a bad result obviously he's not that excited well by his reaction I think he hit a perfect pot the putty intended and it didn't break as he'd expected so there's five under Wood's on the 12T it's a par four over 500 yards and wow this is alive it is way right don't worry about that we didn't need you there Phil acts like he's going to hit a little cut with a six iron uh oh that was easy I thought I might go over the top with the seven but when you can make a shot look as easy as this that was from 194. gorgeous rhythm with the stroke and the swing seems to be there for him only three players have hit this green in two today should be able to get some oh he's pushed it a little bit I was going to say there's not many players could get on that top left level but that's not bad nope now there's four guys who have reached the screen in two Drive of almost 330 yards let's go back over to nine at the North for his Eagle to get to minus seven and a share of the lead Tiger Woods as for the second eagle of the day it's uphill and then breaking from the right he's gonna have that treacherous little distance left every single part from three and four feet is tough well hold made it look easy so tiger now with the low round on the south course going at six under par Tyga finding the Fairway not a particularly long car floor cam the awkward bunker down the left-hand side tightens up the landing area and important to be able to control the second shot into this screen tight left hole position yeah only 12 feet of green to the left of the Cup start in the middle of the green trying to draw it in and the wind's holding it up but it's still a nice shot that's a realistic result not much room for the left if you go left of the green you're down in the canyon [Music] looking good oh it was turning gently and somehow straightened out I can't believe it and tiger certainly can't looks as if it was a perfect putt but it is only the 14th hole of the first round tiger is already cruising at six under playing like this and it costs six thousand six hundred yards shorter tomorrow incredibly straight hole this 15th Ferry slopes right to left the great power four not a single Fairway bunker and a beautifully placed tree that one right there is always the one to catch the player's eye down the right side same rough if it cuts 10 yards he might catch the edge of the green no yeah it's sitting up well it's a good Miss because look where the flag is it's on the other side of the green that's probably the reason why you wanted to go left to right rather than the other weight [Applause] he's still trying to get one to check I didn't think he would with that lie I thought he would just play it to release nothing wrong with the pipe with the part all the stroke just like a roller to a pace so tagged her back to five under after the bogey now it looks like effortless power for Tiger very good rotation of his body through the shot very nicely played and as I said earlier in the day when your swing is on your distance control is on and that's another flag High shot for Tiger Woods [Music] he just looks to be playing a fraction too little borrow on some of those the ball is starting right where the putter head is looking so it's either a slight misread or misane but a disappointing part the 16th Fairway metal and rather than a driver try and hit the low draw has over done it slows down in the rough so tough to judge the distance coming uphill and 95 yards the grass is going with this shot tough to judge the distance coming off the uphill and out of some rough the work to do for the park no shame he came back so beautifully after the double bogey at four he was five under for the next five holes had another couple of birdies and now it's two bogeys coming off a bogey on the tee now at the par 5 18. well that was a good swing fairly powerful as well I'm gonna stop just short and right of that bunker the woods had it going as well this is second at 18. and tiger just laying up if he was on The Fairway could have reached in two he only had 245 yards to the front edge [Applause] Frankies look good today I mean the Rhythm the swing he's just missed some putts and and as Peter Costas said uh just hasn't borrowed enough a number of times on these greens foreign trying to fly it all the way [Music] [Applause] you kept an eye on what that ball did when it went past the halt [Music] nearly the same just does stay in that left Edge so Woods despite that double back at four came right back to the birdie eagle ends up shooting 68 on the more difficult South course here at Torrey pinesways one six times forces third from off the green at the par 414th in reference to rain so everything's a little softer missing the fiery bounce and His short game continues to be solid going to make birdie there rain falling softly upon the fields here at 18 par 5 his second now this is the easiest par five on the PGA tour so you'd like to make four yeah not on the golf course on the PGA tour yeah on the PGA tour you'd like to make four but uh so a three that's even better than what the field makes on that hole so all of a sudden he got himself into a very very good gear reach the next hole which is also a par five and two you know that's been the theme though I mean he had that right online just a little bit short with the wet conditions but he would make birdie there his second at the second and just Clips it no big divot so for birdie at two these pots haven't been easy a lot of players have been missing five six feet Apollo grains continues the run and I think he has that calmness when he feels he's in control of his game six on it's plenty of Club slice a little I thought he was setting up for a draw but a six on was plenty of Club I've been gone with a seven maybe the draw might have worked but uh in trouble still a delicate shot well I I don't think he would have done any worse if he played it from the plug line that was on tigerlike there is I thought his ball was just out of the bunker as well yeah an important part the super round going so you got him you were watching him yesterday he's got some pop back with that driver plenty of space over the bunker virtually no divot cut in the hole every single time suppose a little bit of moisture and slightly uphill back to Tiger tap in par for Tiger sailing along here on day two playing the easier of the two the North Course totally right to left downhill second shot you're only going in with a Sundown for your second yeah 411 yards Target hits the driver it's a dead aim on the second shot you can't fly it all the way go try and skip it up there and you're hitting down it's not easy to do a little more than 10 feet behind the hole so you have to be a little careful I won't be very happy to be that short but absolutely couldn't go long oh a little more speed it might have been seven under yeah I think we can judge from that reaction it would smack in the middle if he'd head up to foot firmer he's uh he's not making the adjustment for all this rain that we're getting I think it's Green's a little bit slower than they have been all week um well he was four for four from the sand yesterday out to the North Course and woods from the bunker his second here at six [Music] not quite a little bit softer today made one yesterday Fairways and greens are at a premium I cannot make a living with your short game out here today would step in to remain at 10 under par is was it yeah the rough you don't have that option you've got to mess with the front of the green well I bought about 30 yards before he used reached down and picked up the tea he knew exactly where it was going to finish 129 yards left she'd get some spin with this one you seem to be looking at it quite comfortably and unlucky not to go in for an eagle never any doubt uphill little break nice firm stroke well you know he's not done a forceful swing I've watched him yesterday and today and he swung with himself every time there's a bunker down the right you could get under the lip and wouldn't be possible to reach into that's the only danger and that's where he is he called the hole out at six from the bunker yesterday and now you call this he's The Clairvoyant Phil Parkin second the last hole of the day for Woods in the bunker at eight it's an eight iron but for a moment it might have hit one of those Jets up above he didn't catch that one properly first part of the green is into him you can land it in the upslope I even grab from that light uphill for the first 10 feet wow not in yet all right just like that 10 under now with one to play the woods who won his 65th title in the U.S open here back in 08 yeah of course if he does hit a nice drive and it's a fairway he can easily reach in two with his power it's the Twill gives it a little glance I think we have to expect this to be right down the middle beautifully played oh this looks good needs to just fade a little more slopes gonna help it unlucky to get that soft to bounce [Applause] or even a long shot the greens [Music] he's acknowledging the Applause I think he's going to accept that you want to name names there Peter no but it's happened okay it doesn't happen very often but occasionally 68.65 for Tiger superb play today put it right in the middle of the Fairway at the second just a short approach Frank and and you get the feeling at this point that he's fully in control well he knows where that Ridge is that a little Mound behind the flag that he was trying to feed that off on the third tee a six iron in hand for Tiger Woods the six-time champion of Tory Pines plus that U.S open win in 2008 as the skies clear up just a bit on the coast of Southern California a three-shot lead 12 under trying to add to that on a Sunday third round Frank no problems well something about Torrey Pines to State the obvious when he gets here well Tiger's been number one in distance this week and number four in driving accuracy although he's uh left that one out to the right of the time he said that one way right Phil he has driven the ball so well the first couple days here on Thursday and Friday but the teaser up there but uh 30 yards up today but it's still toughest hole on the course horrible whole location thanks [Music] [Applause] [Music] tiger also will have to deal with the two tiers on this two-tiered green she has to go up that hill [Applause] oh you can see just how much that ball moved got over that Ridge and nicely done by Tiger Woods two putt here at the fourth [Applause] swing is looking very efficient it's uh into the follow through and then a quick look up and say yes the ball's going like a bullet down the Fairway it's a six iron let's hit the six iron on the par three we knocked it to two feet trying to keep it low to be a bit steep on that one so uh problem there try and hit the ultimate shot got ahead of it not happy and live with tiger third shot it's judging the line jumped off the face of the club his gesture there it looked as if the stroke wasn't right the bogey for Tiger starts down the left question is to get it onto the right level so many different levels on this green starting left fading it back it's a good line yes it is they're into a chance for Eagle to get it to 14 under parties up by two it could be four at the end of this sixth hole for Woods an early walk they knew it right away and left himself a little bit more than even want for birdie okay 10 under on the par fives this week he's 28 under in his career on number six yeah he's back into the wind and it's a fairly cool breeze hit driver wedge the first day I guarantee you can't get there with the driver which today although he's nailed that one the part seven fill on the first day on the second day you get a birdie so difficult Par Four and tigers managed to play it well and he's managed to find the Fairway one more time just dive into that pine tree try and cut it back to the flag Phil that's what he has been doing yeah that's what he's trying to do it's not cutting a lot just a gentle fade but it's a safe shot so the Tigers in the center of the green here at number seven he's got a long bird he try to try to extend his lead to four maybe wrong but I thought it was yeah correct sir the tiger safely in with his par Eton up the hill a little bit of Breeze helping this shot wasn't too sure about that one he had his doubts and that is going to be very tricky I think we can tell by his reaction after that gorgeous approach by woods and this for birdie [Applause] under [Applause] that was just a beautiful swing just right out of the hole that's the right spanner well he was spot on with what he thought a good solid five iron into the breeze would get him to the front edge and he's got an uphill putt [Music] all right pretty good effort from that range it bubbled around a little bit all right if anything that seemed to straighten out at the end it did did not see that one coming to Target quite happy to rehearse fade swing some call where's that Diva oh boy oh carried the bunkers tiger you can't afford to force this over the back [Music] knives that end low and that is on an unbelievable line effort if it yeah it's a great yeah that's a good shot from there you're not surprised a bit David took a big hop and then he hit it and it jumped about eight inches in the air oh yeah absolutely in the center he reminds me of someone I used to know today nobody's gone for less than two yet or hit the green she didn't let it out either and I feel any metal at that one go right but he swung very much within himself and that's no problem I don't think he'll go at it from there well he could really spin it here because that thing is on a real bad incline right there so he's going to try to soften this up soften it up soften it up that's pretty good that's quality control ladies and gentlemen right there with your pitching wedge knowing exactly what to do you can't see the bottom of the flag well that was a fairly easy birdie right there he's now 12 under on the par fives this week don't you need last year tiger with the three wood at the 14th t another very nicely balanced swing his rhythm looks excellent Rhythm and Tempo is uh tiger of old that's for sure and just a moment ago a little nine iron here for Tiger and this was a lot of Club 141 yards just across wind just trying to hit a little cut it was off after it very quickly he didn't like the strike again under borrowed a little bit well they're going in the center today that's for sure live at the 15th with driver [Music] another beautiful swing you know that's a really good sign Dave if you can name down the left and just peel that little fade back all right tiger and he's been absolutely laser-like with shots like this 179 yards that's an eight iron first one he doesn't like well he knows he can't head it over the back the playoff over Rocco when they finish [Applause] so another par on the board for Tiger who's four under for the round I wouldn't say it I would say it no chance I would think it I left that one to the right by his Lane yeah perfect absolutely perfect he's got uh 20 26 feet right there for his birdie exactly where you'd think he'd hit it here we go to the right oh he hooked it nicely got to buy the whole lace and tell them got to buy the whole first one today it was a good method [Applause] and with a six shot lead just find the Fairway on these sort of shots you can actually hit a draw down the right hand side that one's going to be flirting with the not rough that's not what he wanted no he's definitely trying to draw it he was aiming out there trying to use the shape of the Fairway yeah it's not a bad lie though 183 yards line with the Granny's got seven iron [Applause] oh [Applause] just another one right where he was looking middle of the green can't go with that flag from the rough can he get the raid [Applause] it just looks like it should keep turning and it straightens up the hole every time yeah good effort you know he's put himself when he's been slightly out of position and that's really all that you know been wrong today every now and then he gets a little out of position but he's been just Surgical at the 18th hmm watching it carefully went with a Big Slice intentional fade and overcooked it [Applause] let's go for some oh he got the 50. yeah let's see that one came out soft another one it's just snuggled down like a hamster he's got plenty of it just gonna get it on the green and just in the whole Force I mean that needs a little kick to the left well we built it up really well didn't we we did better than it might have deserved yeah that was the worst one you know I get it and I don't get it yeah oh yeah sure you're my big big appearance Barney again you're gonna there we go there it is the first six ever folks you saw it here live 300 part round for Tiger [Applause] so the margin's four after 54 holes had been two through 36. oh and everybody indicates left well as a first aha left going left with a left hole location from Florida up [Applause] yeah exactly what he wanted keep it safe anything right is way better than missing the green to the left a little longer than he'd like a little faster than he would that's a good length actually but didn't quite get the read that's the bar bashes it in the corner [Applause] [Music] lost something that one's left that's way left and very fast rhythm [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] he's not a good lie yeah yes he's had to throw it up high with the lob wedge oh that's brilliant brilliant indeed Nick beautiful shot yeah that really was I mean he almost had to play that like a little bunker shot that was a beautiful shot yes it's not a science putting when you're putting on poana greens especially he made a very nice swing sure did drilled that one in there perfectly for birdie walks it in that's a big two right there it is I mean to get through those first three holes you missed the first two Fairways by about 40 yards and you go parpar then make a birdie on the third it's huge well this ball I guarantee it'll go to the right because Lefty you'll be down on the beach see it but I'm guessing he overcut it in those bunkers somewhere it's 250 to the bunkers on the right and just over 300 past them there we go he overcut it you knew he was going to do that [Applause] I just blocked pushed it back there missed all the people that's good doesn't get much better than that I'll tell you that is one heck of a shot that's actually a birdie chip from there that looks like a good live straightforward chip shotless wise [Applause] oh boy [Applause] has to avoid bunkers right and left here [Music] I'll put one of them out of your mind anyway dead center right in the mayor's office here at the top of the hill at five foreign [Music] just a little to the right oh yeah tell you it looked like a good move like he was comfortable with it yeah it's come up a good club short or on the other hand again guys let's go underground on it Steep and underneath it strong pours it in not unhappy with it oh sits down I thought he would be aiming it farther and I wanted to know he was aiming it that far right won't react the same but guys going for that Big Slice he loves this one came out low and running and turning onto a great line let's get a hop up oh that's a fabulous shot [Applause] oh [Applause] yeah and that's another party [Applause] set the score up with that tent back there comes over something like that just like that huh four in a row Sevenfold good hole to drive it like that stayed in the air a long time I don't think that wasn't a hard swing either David you like it right he likes that he bends over like that he likes it oh this putt gets up there and it doesn't really break and it doesn't really break and we can figure it out oh he'll take four oh he'll take four all day because this is the hardest ranked hole in the golf course for all four rounds the seventh hole it could easily have gone the other way I mean he could be tied right now the way things were looking around the turn yeah Brian snedeker was making a run and then got a little clumsy of that three putt and started going the other way and tiger wheel off a couple of birdies and there was a separation and eight iron well good Rhythm on the first swing of the day that's nice shot right at the flag stick with the club that he knew he couldn't get it there how much of it [Music] just getting it there that's a good solid putt good start to the day solid eight iron no stress three foreign so what is that about yeah that is uh that's not left oh that is in uh that used to be our old TV compound yeah I might actually uh be trampled down and all right [Applause] spectacular meanwhile back in the middle of the Fairway [Applause] [Music] and he's even got a good angle Checker these have been good this week good distance control been throwing it past spinning it back oh wow hit the flag did that they clip the flag oh yes reeks you hit a beautiful Pub too and I'll tell you he's on edge and the guys this may appear like a little tap in but they give a lot of attention to these little short putts here make sure they get the center of the cup as irritable because I've seen them in a while and that one is hard down the left needs to fly that bunker which I'm not sure is possible nope it's not and that's eight out of the last ten now he has missed oh just chopped it out of there yeah he had to go deep and and right yeah that's actually pretty good yeah it's I mean his hands never got above his belt on that follow through that was some seriously uh golf ball under control I think this nine guys will just be about confidence on it it's a good part there yeah just to see what he can do with that big lead [Music] now we got two holes to go ladies and gentlemen the 11th and the 12th hole really difficult against the win definitely a cut swing it didn't kind of caught the back of that bunker we'll have to see what kind of a lie he has there [Applause] what a brilliant effort that was oh never mind the effort how about the call that was pretty good as well come on everybody wants to know when will Tiger win another major now the best way to get a feel for that is how many tournaments Will he win between now and Augusta yeah on a 12. he's a wise man once said we come here not to paint pictures but to write numbers boy it looks good from here borderline danger right get up uh there's a very good swing it's not too bad if it stays up on top you can't call that a bad shot brisk and windy out there today as we go live to the 12th and Tiger Woods once again a brilliant approach here that was a hideous lie three foot left for the part one birdie here uh over the final round [Applause] Rhythm looked better there he might have saved that one a little Smurf a little bit more complete and another Fairway swings out to the right and killed it up but had no cut on it right on the left Edge okay just over David just over the bunker and he's gonna have about 40 45 feet there left to right up the hill Tiger Woods hit this par five in two [Music] not as not deceased usually has a line pointing where he's going on the short ones beautiful pug well they're just a another nice birdie here Tiger Woods now an eight shot lead I think what we're thinking now can you get it to 10. [Music] [Applause] yeah that was a little bit of a kind of knock down Stinger type swing trying to turn it over right to left but not quite enough for the left part before hiring into the screen [Music] [Applause] thank you that appeared to find the front left bunker to get into the hole would be an incredible achievement yeah that's about where you might expect it to be you won't be happy with it but boy a whole lot worse things could have happened if you had gotten more greedy oh what a nice putt but his lead is going to drop from a touchdown in a two-point conversion just to a touchdown and a regular extra point thank you seven stroke lead now oh we had I've saw a hand pointing oh he's he's hit one left going left again no boy he's not comfortable and that stuff or if you connect with the ball and you thin it and it's gone it's like trying to play out of a basket of cucumbers yeah so now he has a club length from his nearest point of relief but the club length but they're live cucumbers they're still attached cucumbers attack cucumbers wow oh my aching nerves what a shot what a shot it's a knuckleball that's a great one that could have gone on the green for the same price taking a decent kick forward so that was perfect exactly what he wanted that's what he said to Joe I'll take this one just hit it up there just short try and get it up and down for the bogey oh it's hello hello Tiger's thinking about things he's probably really miffed at that drive but this one has really been working slammed it was a bad misread we don't see tiger misread by a cup very often and our tiger cleans up for his double back so he is now 15 under only five in front that bunker on the left will plug if it goes that direction [Music] oh that'll work that's just fine no problem there he's gonna have a nice read also a little bit but that'll be just perfect just cozy it up there where you can't mess it up done about four of them already today another good solid par we're gonna go to the 17th that's the one I'm looking at he's aiming left oh he didn't fat anything left just a little roof plate action there just down the Fairway down the right well he finds the Fairway a long ways back though foreign yeah he can fly this almost all the way and jerk it to Halt or play some kind of a runner not like that no that's going to leave him a good 18 feet for his par Ed yeah all right safely in aggressively in so tiger drops to minus 14 has a four shot lead going to the final hole got the three wood out for comfort and it's still left just nailed it left didn't shape it at all so doesn't matter wins a win [Applause] tiger just laying up with his second foreign good angle there too out to the right side [Music] it's a beautiful swing there it is oh it's gonna it's okay it's claws like Jimmy Walker's about uh half an hour ago oh he's gonna stop oh how did it do that is for the birdie and a five shot win [Applause] that's all he wanted he'll Mark that allow the others to uh to have their putts and finish up and then he'll hold the stage and now for his seventh Victory here at the Farmers Insurance open Tiger Woods sends a message to the PGA Tour here in 2013. with the win in his first tournament of the season here on U.S soil big hug for Joe LaCava [Applause]
