[Applause] [Music] hi everyone it's Susan here and I am back with another video for my Etsy series today I'm going to be showing you guys how I make stickers for my Etsy shop and so without further ado let's just hop right into it the first thing we need to do is to design the stickers I like to either draw it by hand or do it digitally using procreate or Photoshop so generally when I am designing stickers I like to first sketch everything out by hand and I do this just because it's easier for me to plan on my thoughts before I go into it electronically on procreate or on Photoshop I know a lot of people like to sketch things out directly onto their digital device but it's just a lot easier for me to do it by hand with a paper and pencil and so that's what I'm doing here so after I finished doing all the sketching I am using my phone to take a picture so that I can transfer that into procreate or Photoshop procreate is good for digitalizing art because it has pen pressure sensitivity and so for hand-drawn effects I really do like procreate however I don't use procreate all the time because there are limitations and I always end up finishing off my sticker sheets in Photoshop so now that we are done doing all of the designing I am now going to arrange them into my sticker sheet the way I want it to be I already made this sticker sheet it's actually right here this is the finished product but for the sake of this video we are going to redo it what I like to do is create a new image file and I make sure that it is in the size that I would like my sticker sheet to be printed out on so for this one right here I would like it to be 4.5 and the height to be 6.5 and this is just because on the Cricut there are certain sizes that it will not cut after that so I took the largest amounts and I took off some allowance because I did notice that if you use up the entire six point seven five by nine point to five inches the Craig account does this little weird thing at the bottom of it so I like to just be safe and I give myself some allowance so I do a nine by six point five and I cut that in half because I would like to sheets of these stickers onto my one cut first I would like to create the background for this [Music] alrighty okay so now that that looks good I am just going to merge all these layers and then after that I like to use this rounded rectangle tool and I like to round off the corners of my sticker sheet I keep my radius at fifty pixels and so it makes a nice rounded effect and I'm going to make a new layer first and then I'm going to go into paths and before I do anything I use the brush tool and I make sure the radius is at a two I like using this hard round pressure size brush so I'm going to go back into paths and I'm gonna click on the work path and I am just going to make sure this foreground color is in white and then I go ahead and then stroke the path because I am going to be applying two separate sheets on here I am going to ctrl T and then I am going to set the width to 99% and the height to 99% and then after that I hit enter one more time and voila there goes my cut line and then I'm just going to use this magic wand tool and I'm gonna select the outer portion of so I'm not selecting inside the rectangle I'm selecting outside the rectangle and I am just going to go back to the bottom background layer and I'm gonna hit the delete button I am just going to deselect and then I'm going to go back to the rounded rectangular layer we have here and I'm just going to go ahead and delete that now that we are done making the background sheet I am going to go back into the original file and what we are going to do is go into the effects so I'm just gonna double-click the right side of this layer right here and then I'm going to hit the stroke and I like to leave it at a 20 and then we are gonna fill the stroke in with white so then that makes the perfect border so then after we do that I like to just create a new layer and I will merge the two just so that the stroke is actually part of the picture now and not like an additional effect and then I will go ahead and do that for all of them so after that I'm going to hit ctrl or command a and then ctrl or command C and I am going to go back into the backing card layer that I have already previously made and I'm going to paste that down and you guys will not be able to see the white so what I'm going to do is I like to just you know choose a random color and I am going to fill in the background just temporarily and let me just make sure we're not so I'm going to delete that area so just to make sure that our stickers will not be on top of that border right there and what I do is I hit ctrl or command T and hit the shift and we can resize it at this point so I am going to make it at a point seven-five there we go and I will just stick this right here and I'm going to duplicate this by right-clicking the layer and then hitting duplicate and then enter and what you can do is hit ctrl or command C and you can drag or you can nudge by using the arrow keys and what's great about Photoshop is that there are these three pink alignment lines and they help to make sure that the stickers are in line on the row okay I have completely filled out all these rows now it comes to the part where we need to duplicate this what I notice is that when I do it on the design space on Cricut it doesn't like to work the way I wanted to so I like to make things very simple and easy for me and I do all the placements and the alignment on Photoshop and so what I will do is go to image at the top and then I will go to canvas size and I will hit this arrow right here and then I will double this size so this is 4.5 so we're going to make it nine inches and then we're gonna hit okay so now that we have finished editing the canvas size what I'm going to do is select both layers and do that you can just click on one hit the shift and then click on the second layer and then we're going to right click and hit duplicate layers and there's that with these both selected I'm going to hit command or ctrl T and I am going to drag it to the right Izu min just to make sure that I can see every single detail and make sure everything is aligned and then so the pink lines shows us that it is now aligned and I just a little bit and that looks about good to me and our sticker sheet is done so what I do is I take the two background layers right here and I merge the two together so there is our background and then I am going to do the same for the stickers now I'm going to save these two images as two different files so I unclick this and I ctrl shift s and I'm going to just stick it on my desktop for now and then I'm going to save this as muffin coffee - back and then we're gonna save this as a PNG file okay and then we're going to then make the visibility on the stickers visible and we're going to hide the background visibility and then again we are going to ctrl shift s and we are going to name this muffin coffee and then save that as a PNG now that I am done designing I'm going to make it into a physical sticker sheet I am going to go into design that cricut.com and then hit enter and then I'm going to start a new project and then we're going to go into upload right here and I am going to upload new image we're gonna hit browse and we're first going to do the muffin coffee and then I'm always clicking complex just because I prefer it to be you know all the details shown and then I hit continue and since we did all of the editing and the erasing and all of that jazz on Photoshop we actually don't need to do anything here so we're gonna hit continue and I make sure to save it as a print then cut image and we're gonna hit save okay now that that is done we are going to do the same for the back and then that is when we are done so I am going to select the background image plus the stickers and then we're gonna hit insert image right here I'm going to go into Photoshop and I am going to click on the layer with the stickers we're gonna hit command or control a come in or ctrl C and then we're gonna open a new document and it will give you the size of this sticker so we are looking at eight point six three seven and so we're gonna go back into Cricut and we're gonna resize this to eight point six three seven and then it'll automatically resize the height because we have the proportions locked together so then after that I am going to go back into Photoshop we're gonna close this because we don't actually want to create an image and I am going to zoom in and we're gonna drag a new guide and we're going to figure out where these stickers start so it seems to me like they start at zero point one seven seven inches so we're gonna go in to Cricut again and we're gonna change the position to zero point one seven seven and then that's for the X and then we're gonna go back in and check the y-axis and that starts at zero point seven so we're gonna go back in and type in zero oops zero point seven and then that'll leave our stickers in the right position on the backing card and we're gonna do the same thing for the backing card and that leaves our sticker sheets exactly like how we made them on Photoshop I'm going to take the backing card and I'm going to duplicate that and we're just gonna make sure that they are positioned in the same place so it's again zero point zero two three and zero point zero three three and then we're just gonna drag the backing card to the back and we're gonna keep doing that for four times and I actually learned this technique from watching one of Kat nips video on how she makes stickers and a lot of people actually commented the one I read was from she meets city and she talked about how this is the only way to print the back and have it cut out like a die cut while on a kiss cut setting and then we're gonna select every single layer and how I do that is I have I hold down shift and then I select every single layer and we're going to go to attach right here you do not want to do weld because you don't want the images to become one you want them just to be attached to each other so we're gonna hit attach and voila it becomes one group and it is there so now we are going to make sure we save this project I am going to name this muffin coffee boba and save this way I can make sure that every time I come back I don't need to redo this process all over again and then I am going to hit the make it button and then I am going to hit continue and I have not plugged in my Cricut machine but it'll show up right here and then I'm going to hit Send to printer and I print this with my Canon mx9 22 and you have to make sure not to add bleed because it'll give you this really ugly line surrounding the image and it looks horrible and so to make sure that there isn't that line yet though always click off the ad bleed and then I will hit print I use the white matte sticker paper from online labels to print my stickers the printer I am using here is a canon pixma MX 922 it's not the best printer ever but it's pretty budget-friendly and the quality is decent for its price [Music] so after I finish printing out the sticker sheet I put it onto the cricket standard grip mat I have already prepped this mat but if you are using a new mat it is quite sticky so I like to take a bath towel and use it to press on they met a few times to make it less sticky it is very important to align the sheet onto the mat correctly because if not the Cricut machine will have a hard time scanning the registration marks after turning on it opening up the Cricut machine I am now plugging it into my laptop so then we can actually get to cutting the stickers on the Cricut design space application I like to use the sticky note setting for my kiss cut stickers you can easily find it by clicking on browse all materials and then type in sticky note in the search bar I have the settings save to my favorites so that I can easily access it for future use when loading the mat into the machine it is SuperDuper important to align the mat to the left holding bracket this will ensure that the mat isn't going in wonky [Applause] [Music] [Music] so after unloading the mat from the machine I need to take the stickers off of the mat I like to do this by flipping the mat upside down and bending a mat to lift off of the sticker sheet this way my sticker sheet won't curl I like to use a plastic card to help with this process and as you can see here I'm using an Ikea family cards so you really don't need anything fancy for this and that is how I make stickers for my Etsy shop I really hope you guys enjoyed this video and gained some really good knowledge from it and if you guys liked it please make sure to give this video a thumbs up and comment down below letting me know what you guys thought of it and to never miss another
