George Gershwin was writing the music just for the IRA writing the lyrics well the talk about this gal singer got around and one day unbeknownst to me mr. freely came over to the Brooklyn perryland and as we say in our profession he caught my act well I guess he's what I was pretty good too as the next thing I knew he had contacted my agent my agent and I and mr. Feeley went up to see mr. Gershwin mr. Gershwin lived at Riverside Drive and 74th Street overlooking the Hudson River and not only was i and/or of meeting the great George Gershwin I was an oral the apartment building Syed I'd never seen anything as tall as that because I was a young gal living in the story along Island with my parents where I was born anyhow but we go to this beautiful roof garden George Gershwin had one side of it and his brother I had the other side they had the whole thing all sewed up all to themselves and we're ushering in to this beautiful living room and after a little conversation with mr. Gershwin he sat down with the piano and he played three songs which I eventually wound up singing in the show because fortunately I got the part but the point I'm trying to make is this ladies and gentlemen that he was this great man this great genius humble man and me a complete unknown at the time he said something to me which I will never forget as long as I live he said miss Merman if there's anything about these songs that you don't like I'll be most happy to change and you know you never change a note in a Gershwin tune only how this next song I'm going to sing for you is one of the songs that he played and this is the song that really put me on the map I got rhythm in green faster I got my man who could ask for anything more oh no my man around my front door look at me Mom anything ya'know smoothie I'm a boy yar no meaning I'm in boobie I don't what what say let's me buddy someone say let's be what maybe while be drama they up stop anything good all the two one anything today it was bad today likewise today a days late today those guys today even women rise today I just Silesia galore and though I thought I'm grateful answer I know that I found any Watterson well Burpo let yourself go boys be swings through my driggity it's hilarious if government 11 pistol Sixto funny you're a stranger moves comfy from another town I'm a stranger myself here isn't it buddy here is indeed smile and the body and Fire I had a ha a dream about you baby I had a dream but it's gonna come true they think I ran through what what baby yo is well you're right Oh three line come power ani Oh no kidding stand the world again I know you will be I can tell what just you wait Lavie sorry everything's falling or by everything's I was everything every you
