hey what's up guys so let's take a look at escorts brand-new top-of-the-line windshield mount radar detector the new escort max 360 see this is it right here it's basically a repackaged and updated max 360 you can see it looks a little bit different right there's actually three primary differences between the original max 360 and the new max 360 see the first thing is well you can see aesthetically it's changed right it's got escorts new design it's a little bit smaller and they have also changed the arrows on the front of the detector now it goes all the way around the face of the detector instead of just here on the side by the rear antenna the second thing it's the max 360 seat the C stands for connected car and what that means is that there's now Wi-Fi built into the detector which adds some new functionality basically over Wi-Fi this is now the first radar detector first windshield mount Ector that can automatically update itself over time so as there's new firmware updates that are released for the detector and new red light camera databases that escort releases the detector can automatically update itself without you having to take the detector back home plug it into your computer and update that way pretty cool feature and then the third thing is well there's also band segmentation that's available for both K and K a band it doesn't affect performance so it's really suited for international users but now is that's now an option here in the 360 seat there's also some minor stuff like if you take a look here at the new magnetic mount it's a little bit different than the original it has a new magnetic mount they both had magnetic ones but this is the new easy mag mount and I actually really like it it's my favorite mount for any sort of radar detector as far as windshield mounts so it's got a new mount and then it's also going to be compatible with escorts new upcoming wireless laser jammer called the zw5 the idea is it's a wireless Zr five not quite as effective as the ALP but the benefit is you can install it in your car and then there's no cable to actually run through your car's firewall so for those of you guys who have like a leased car or you want minimal kind of drilling into your car it's gonna be able to wirelessly communicate with a radar detector so when you get shot with laser your detector goes off you can hit the mute button to kill your jammers and it's going to be an easier installation it's gonna cost less than having to do like a full install in your car and then you get you know integrated radar and laser integration so when the zw5 s come out this is going to be able to talk to it and pair that way so kind of minor stuff but let's go ahead and take a look at the kind of the main three things so design Wi-Fi as well as band segmentation so starting off with design one of the things that they changed is they made the detector a little bit smaller which I really like because the 360 was a little bit too big it actually had this kind of a sort of unnecessary bump right here if you open up the detector there's nothing here it's just a cosmetic thing so it's got this bump and they got rid of it here which sounds kind of silly but overall they did shrink the detector down a little bit which I really like there's actually more in here than there isn't here but the detectors smaller so it's nice so it's a little bit smaller in that sense I've also noticed of course as we mentioned you know the arrows are now around the entire face of the detector instead of just around the rear antenna so they changed it a little bit I like it the arrows are a little bit bigger not a huge deal but I kind of like it another thing that I've noticed is the build quality is a little bit better now especially with the buttons here they feel more solid and substantial which may sound kind of silly but they were a little bit cheaper here on the original Macs and mark this location I want to do that so the original max 360 it kind of had some build quality issues I mean the buttons were a little bit softer I remember when I first got it the button was sort of sticking the buttons would kind of fade here over time so they've actually done a little bit of work to improve the build quality and that was actually one of the first things that I noticed and it's nice considering this detector retails for six hundred ninety nine dollars it now holds the title for being the most expensive windshield mount radar detector this one when it came out was 649 you can now go online and find it for quite a bit less and I'll talk about that here in a bit but this guy now gone from 649 to $6.99 so this now holds the title for being the most expensive windshield not radar detector and having the improvements to build quality it is kind of nice so now it kind of feels the part too you know so pretty much aesthetic stuff they just changed the arrows and all that stuff you'll notice they got rid of kind of the shiny buttons here but they've added sort of this kind of gray thing on top I'm not a fan of silver and gray on top of radar detectors because it does tend to reflect in the windshield when you're driving and kind of distract from the view however if you've got your radar detector mounted up high by the rear view mirror which is the optimal to mount it you'll never actually notice that something to keep in mind as the buttons are a little bit farther back in order to reach whereas with the max 360 the mute button was actually closer to the front and that's something to keep in mind when they're going up to reach for the need button but not a huge deal in practice anyway so the detector is a little bit smaller a little bit redesigned cool now let's get into the main event the max 360 see connected right so Wi-Fi basically the idea is normally in order to connect to the cloud with Escort Live you would use your phone and connect over Bluetooth Escort has at odd detectors that do this you've got the original max 360 the redline EXI mean a whole bunch of detectors they all use bluetooth now over the cloud it's nice you can get real-time alerts shared with other drivers so when your detector goes off that can alert other Escort drivers and vice versa so it just helps give you an additional layer of protection really nice you can also use your phone to go in and change different settings and stuff like that but the main thing is alert sharing with other drivers now the benefit of being able to do this is now instead of requiring your phone to do it for those of you guys who have a Wi-Fi hotspot built into your car and that's kind of the market that escort is going for here rather than using your phone you can out connect directly to Wi-Fi and there's a couple benefits to doing this the main thing is well you don't have to worry about your phone anymore and actually something that I find is the detectors actually have some trouble sometimes automatically reconnecting every time you get back in the car over Bluetooth and I have to go in and you know restart my detector or go into the app and manually pair it it's not supposed to do that but I do find that there's times when it doesn't connect seamlessly in the background every time I get in the car with Wi-Fi that shouldn't be an issue I would rather see escort kind of correct the Bluetooth stuff and improve that but with Wi-Fi you should have better reconnection every time you get in the car now that said the main benefit is going to be some additional functionality meaning the detector can now automatically update itself over time so when Escort releases a new firmware update when Escort releases a new red light camera or speed camera database for the radar detector the detector can now notify you and say hey there's a new update available do you want to up it you say yes it takes about five to 10 minutes or so the detector will automatically update itself and then now while you're driving the detector keeps itself up-to-date and you no longer have to go home and plug it into your computer and update that way which is also really nice because escort doesn't notify you otherwise of an Dave they'll post about it on their forums and I do videos myself saying hey there's a new firmware update and you know here's all the changes and stuff but escort doesn't actually send an email out to your users to their users notifying them a firmware updates and so with the 360 C it can now do that for you which is really nice now personally I would rather see them just do this over Bluetooth you know why do we need Wi-Fi for that I actually did a whole video talking about Wi-Fi and one of the things that we talked about is the transfer rates for Bluetooth is kind of slow and Wi-Fi is faster that's one of the reasons they wanted to go for a Wi-Fi but that said you have other devices like the anti laser priority which can update itself over Bluetooth those you guys remember the original escort redline when the B srdr firmware update came out added that for the redline that was something that you could download over Escort Live and update the detector through your phone so it's possible escort is already done software updates over Bluetooth for their previous detectors and so while they could come up with some technical explanation and maybe there's some detail that they haven't shared with us it's definitely doable escorts done it in the past but what they've decided to do is not make that available over Bluetooth only detectors and say if you want the firmware updates to be done like that especially the automatic ones you do need to upgrade to the Wi-Fi version of the max 360 C so I kind of wonder about is it a technical thing is it a marketing thing they just want to release a new detector I mean you can get this guy now online for close to $500 whereas this guy is now $700 so there's a $200 price difference you know and maybe that's just a reason for them to release a new detector at a higher price point and make more money we could argue that we could say there's a technical limitation whatever but just kind of looking at the facts yes they could certainly do it over Bluetooth they have in the past and well they've decided to make it available only over Wi-Fi but for those of you guys who do have Wi-Fi available in your car the detector can now automatically update the firmware etc oh there's other ways of getting Wi-Fi as well again I talked about that in my other video but the other I guess good way of doing it is if you're an Android user with tethering capabilities in that case you can actually have your detector or your phone rather a supply and internet connection via Wi-Fi for tethering for the radar detector and that way the the radar detector would connect to your phone's Wi-Fi hotspot and go out to clap that way now the reason I say this is helpful for Android is for two reasons the primary reason is that well with the iPhone I'm an iPhone user there is no way to automatically enable tethering every time you get in the car maybe unless you're jailbroken but for most people that's not going to apply on Android it has a really cool ability where you can run an app that basically says when I get in my car I want you to automatically enable tethering the trigger can be something like I get in my car and my phone connects to my cars and Bluetooth stereo right I see the Bluetooth connection I want that to be a trigger to enable tethering or something like I put an NFC chip in my car and then when my phone sees that NFC chip that's a trigger to activate tethering so Android gives you a little bit more control and you can actually do that with Android wear as with iPhone that doesn't actually apply additionally when you're initially pairing the detector if you have a hotspot enabled on your iPhone you're gonna have to use a second phone to connect to that hotspot and then connect the detector to it you can't have just one phone to do the whole process once you get it connected and then you enable tethering on the iPhone yes then the radar detector can connect to it but you do need a second phone for the setup where from what I understand based on what people are saying on the forums you don't need a second phone for the set up if you're running Android so on Android that does work a little bit better which is why I say for those of you guys who are running an Android phone when you have tethering capabilities it could be an option for you as well iPhone not quite as great but technically you can do it if you want to go enable tethering every time you get in your car there's other ways of getting Wi-Fi of course like let's say you park near your home I actually have a Wi-Fi hotspot in my car and you can see right now the speed limit sign right now is in white that's how I know it's connected to Wi-Fi if I was connected over Bluetooth it would show up with the same color display red blue whatever but it's white so I've got Wi-Fi anyway if you have Wi-Fi at your home when you start up your car next to your home your detector can connect to Wi-Fi see if there's any updates and download them but chances are you're gonna start up your car and then you're just gonna go drive away you're not gonna give it time to do all that and then when you come back home you're gonna get back home and then you're just going to turn off your car you're not gonna sit in your car for like ten minutes you know so it's possible but it's not something that's going to really be used all that often and then finally like yeah there's Wi-Fi hotspots in coffee shops but it's not really designed where you just pull up to a red light connect to a coffee shop those have like you have to say yes I approved your term can or I accept your terms and conditions so it's not really that great for connecting to Wi-Fi hotspots either so or a coffee shop once rather so really it's designed for people who have Wi-Fi built into your car or you have an Android phone and you can automate some of the tethering capabilities so that's really who's gonna benefit most from this Wi-Fi capability now that said I think one of the biggest issues in practice with the Wi-Fi and kind of what separates the hey cool here's a new feature that no other detector no other windshield mount detector can do is I don't think this is actually gonna be a big deal in practice these automatic updates you see with the firmware updates escort generally doesn't actually release a ton of firmware updates in the first place they usually do initially when there are some initial bugs things to sort out there's some products that they've never released a firmware update to for the max 360 just kind of looking back historically they do release some updates especially in the beginning and then it takes a while for them to get some updates there's actually still some bugs here that have carried over into this one like for example if you get a quick k-band alert i've noticed some bench testing it can actually lock up the detector i've noticed this some bench testing people have noticed it driving out on the streets a bunch of people have reported this on the forums and escort was like oh there's something wrong with your detector until it on of people started reporting the same issue i was actually doing some quick trigger testing with a 360 earlier today and it locked up on ka-band shots and i was with the genesis to shooting half second quick trigger shots and this guy when detecting normal police radar and i'd set it up in a way with the gray dart gun in a different room to avoid any overdriving issues normal police radar has locked up to 360 see I've seen it in bench testing other people have reported it as well driving out in the road in practice and so there's now lockup issues with a detectors detecting radar when you're powering them down things like that so escorts response to when we're finding updates has been less than encouraging basically blowing people off and just saying oh there's something wrong with your detector send it in sent it in and that's a whole other thing that we can get into but their response to even how they're approaching the firmware updates let's just say it leaves a ton to be desired so number one they're not really that good as far as releasing a lot of firmware updates and number two when the updates are necessary they tend to kind of blow people off and so yes it has automatic firmware update capabilities but I don't expect it to be something huge in practice something that I expect to be even less helpful is the automatic red light camera updates now that may sound kind of weird because red light camera updates escort a lot of times updates their red light camera database every couple weeks maybe only for like six dates at a time it's not everywhere that gets an update every couple weeks but escort does do a good job of updating the red light cameras as new ones come online and old ones go go away the issue is if your radar detector is connected to Escort Live like my max 360 is here as long as it's connected even through your phone over Bluetooth if the red light camera database built into the detector is out of date it doesn't matter the detector is going to use the red light camera database in the cloud via Escort Live and give that priority so whenever Escort updates the red light camera database even if you haven't updated your detector yet it's going to ignore that and just use the Escort Live red light camera database and as long as you're always connected over over Escort Live with your phone which is kind of what you're going to be doing anyway it doesn't matter if the detector is out of date and so that's cool that they give you the ability to automatically update the red light camera database in the 360 CE but as long as you're connected to Escort Live which is what you gonna do anyway you already have the red light camera database regardless of if you have those automatic updates so it's kind of one of those things it sounds really cool and practice and it is you know it's the first detector that can automatically update itself then I wish every detector could do it it's a cool feature you know but in practice I don't think it's actually gonna be that useful so it's like a cool kind of marketing checkpoint but the implementation and execution leaves a little bit to be desired you know so yes it's got automatic firmware updates for both Wi-Fi alright sorry is for both the firmware updates as well as the red light camera database but I don't think it's gonna be that big of a deal but for those of you guys who have Wi-Fi built into your car it is kind of a nice feature you know my detector says hey there's an update available do you want to update sure go ahead and it'll do it for you without you having to constantly check yourself manually or take the detector home so if you have a Wi-Fi hotspot built into your car I guess you could you might as well you know so that's kind of my take on that now the next thing that I want to talk about is band segmentation the max 360 C has band segmentation available for both K band and K we were told originally that it does impact performance that turned out to not be the case it does not impact performance with a max 360 see it's always sweeping all of k-band and all of ka no matter what you have the ka segment set to so unlike some detectors like the you know the redline DX or the red line that has bands segmentation that does impact performance and pretty substantially at that with the max 360 see that is not the case so it's not something you're going to use for performance the real world benefit of it is actually for international users where they have different frequency ranges that we use here in the US and you know on k-band for example police officers actually use a very small section of all of k-band the detector sweeps for and so you can say hey sweet just maybe one or two segments don't sweep all of k-band whereas in the u.s. police officers use radar guns to transmit across all of k bands so it's less useful also kind of these segments that they've chosen and you could use it to filter out some Hondas and Acuras but it's a little bit too aggressive the way they've set up their segments so in the u.s. it's not really that useful segmentation is really designed for international users so for those of you guys who want to take advantage of it overseas that's an option for you but it is a cool new feature and then actually let's talk about performance and filtering next performance it's identical to the original max 360 so it's got the same range same all that kind of stuff you know we've tested it with segmentation enabled or disabled and gives the same performance as the original max 360 so not the greatest range ever but not bad either it's not gonna be able to keep up with some of your higher-end detectors like the redline or the new unit ins but for those of you guys who want kind of more of the bells and whistles and arrows and all that kind of stuff it's still gonna be a capable detector but just not your crazy long-range detector in terms of filtering again maybe excluding the band segmentation for international users it's identical to the original max 360 so as far as the VSM filtering it's actually quite good I'm finding it very effective at filtering out vsms it's not perfect your usual suspects like your GM's and your Hondas and Acuras you know some of those will punch through but I find that it's actually one of the quietest detectors when it comes to bsm filtering additionally it's got other things like your automatic GPS lock outs where you can drive around it'll automatically learn your false alerts and filter them out for you something weird that I noticed the very first time that I took the 360 CE out for a spin I was driving around in a shopping center and it began walking out false alerts it should not be doing that the first time it sees a signal the idea with the automatic lock outs is if you pass by the same signal in the same location several times at least three times let's say the detector says hey I've seen the signal before it's the same frequency signal in the same location this looks like a false alert I'm gonna lock it out it shouldn't do it the very first time you arrive in that shopping center what if there was a police officer there that I was passing by you know it shouldn't be doing it on the first pass it doesn't typically do that but it was a little concerning to see how to start locking out signals the very first time I powered on the detector put it up on my windshield and went out to the grocery store you know so that was something that I saw that kind of had me a little concerned you know but otherwise yes it's got automatic lock outs to the patent reasons escort is the only detector or only manufacturer that can do that in a windshield mount detector all the other ones have to do it manually or use a phone or something that patent expires I believe June 2020 but for the meantime Escort has a patent on that there's other things too like you've got your automatic speed based sensitivity so it's it's in auto mode so I get reduced sensitivity at low speeds full sensitivity at highway speeds and one thing I've noticed is when you're driving around in a shopping-center Auto mode will actually reduce the false alerts to such an extent that a lot of times you don't even have to rely on the lockout so you can drive right by a grocery store and your detector won't alert at all so it does cut sensitivity I've noticed pretty substantially which has pros and cons because that also affects legitimate police radar you know but I am saying that it does cut the sensitivity and thus false alerts pretty nicely there's also some other modes like auto no X same thing but with X band turned off you've got Auto located which allows you to cut k-band sensitivity even further than what you've got with Auto mode for even heavier more aggressive filtering and then of course you've got highway mode for full sensitivity on all bands at all times including X and K so you've got adjustable speed based sensitivity other detectors can do that where they you know go less sensitivity at low speeds but what's nice about this one is it can vary and go you know more sensitive at higher speeds less sensitive at lower speeds automatically which is a nice feature I mean there's other things too like the to play brightness you know you've got manual control of you know maybe turning off the display different brightness levels you know like that or you can have automatic display brightness there is an ambient light sensor built into the detector so it can automatically adjust the display brightness with daytime and nighttime that is a cool feature I do like that with a max 360 and the C anyway coming back to filtering yes you've got your GPS lockouts you've got good BSM filtering you've got low speed muting called cruise alert which basically you program a speed and when you're below that speed radar laser alerts you just get a double wrap and then the detector goes quiet one annoyance and I reported this to escort wasn't particularly impressed by their response to the issue if you're running escort live which if you're running a max 360 see the idea is you have Wi-Fi and you're always connected to Escort Live right connected to Escort Live the detector is going to ignore the crews alert low speed muting threshold that you set in the detector and replace it by whatever it thinks the speed limit is right here you can see it says no miles per hour when you're actually out driving on the road it's gonna replace that with the speed limit for the road that you're on which is nice so the idea is if you're traveling below the speed limit the detector will stay extra quiet and if you happen to be speeding and you're going over the speed limit only then will the detector alert you normally which is kind of a nice idea in theory unfortunately it doesn't take into account things like construction zones or school zones so you could be speeding in a construction zone and the detector decides hey I don't think you're speeding because I think the speed limit is here it's actually there but I think it's here I'm gonna be the signal for you not cool additionally sometimes the speed limits are just flat-out wrong escort recently updated their database for the speed limits but I'm still finding there are situations where sometimes usually not but sometimes the speed limits are incorrect so you can actually be speeding and the detector thinks that you're not and so it decides to mute it for you there's no way to avoid this the only way to do it is to either not be connected to Escort Live or not use low-speed muting all together if you're not connected to Escort Live via bluetooth or Wi-Fi it'll pay attention to the low-speed muting threshold that you said in the detector whether it's 25 30 35 miles an hour whatever it is and will mute below it but if you are also connected to Escort Live there is no way to say ignore whatever speed limit you think it is via Escort Live and just use the threshold that I set there's no way to do that an escort has not given us the ability to kind of make that as an option I would love to see that be an option but be aware that if the speed limit and Escort Live is wrong because it's just wrong in the database or it's a school zone or construction zone the detector could be muting legitimate radar signals for you while you're speeding and well not alert you so that's an issue that I'd like to see them address when I brought it up they're like oh just check your Bluetooth settings and Wi-Fi settings even though we both know that has nothing to do with how this works so again I'm not impressed with how they're responding to any feature requests or bugs that were bringing up but it is what it is and I think that is important to mention you know so okay it's good at filtering it does have some quirks like with the low-speed muting but yeah it's got auto lockouts it's got good BSM filtering and I think in most situations people are going to be happy with the filtering capabilities of these detectors which is really what escorts Forte is it's less so the performance especially on these detectors and more so giving you kind of that all-around package with a lot of really cool useful features like the Wi-Fi unquestionably useful the auto lockouts the auto display brightness adjustments Auto sensitivity adjustments you know all that kind of stuff and still reasonable performance to help you avoid a ticket in most situations so yes while it's not going to win any awards in terms of long-range performance it's designed to be more of that kind of all-around package and that's really what this detector is geared towards so yeah I talked about performance filtering Wireless laser jammers all that kind of stuff so that's a look at the detector now I guess the last things that I want to talk about before we go into kind of the conclusion is well okay if you have a max 360 should you upgrade if you don't have either one which one should you get well I think for most people if you have a 360 there's really no reason to upgrade I mean you've got the same performance here you've got the same filtering so it's not really gonna be any sort of performance upgrade yeah it's a little bit smaller and I do like that but I mean you already have this detector so there's not a huge reason to upgrade if you have Wi-Fi I guess you could but as long as you're happy with the Bluetooth Escort Live stuff there's not really a huge reason to upgrade there either we'll see what they do as far as firmware updates you know but I mean they've already spent a lot of time refining this one it's not perfect but at least we've got current firmware with decent filtering and all that kind of stuff you know yes it's still locking up from legitimate radar but you know it's we've already had a bunch of updates so I don't see a huge compelling reason to upgrade if you already have the original now let's say you don't have either one of the detectors and you're deciding between the original or the new one which one should you get again in most situations I think people would be happy with the original the thing is one of the biggest things is the price this guy retails for $6.99 let's call it $700 okay this guy MSRP is only $50 less that's 649 but if you go in Amazon you can find it I think I look today was like 519 prices fluctuate of course all the time and I know it's the holiday buying season now so their sales and whatnot so definitely take a look at the current price I'll put links in the video description but yeah you can get this guy for a lot of times basically $200 less than this one I think escort knows that and they wanted to kind of repackage it and add a new feature or two that way they can you know sell it for full MSRP and I think that's one of the reasons they wanted to come out with this but for those of you guys looking for a good deal this guy is definitely gonna be the better bot now that said if you have Wi-Fi in your car and you're the type of person who wants a detector that can automatically update itself and you don't mind necessarily paying the extra 200 bucks hundred fifty bucks whatever it is when you go look it is kind of nice to have that automatic updating feature again I find it a little bit I think it's gonna be less useful than it sounds like because who knows how many firmware updates they're gonna be and well as long as you're connected to Escort Live you already have the latest red light camera databases so it's not gonna be a huge realistic benefit in practice but it is nice to have the automatic firmware updates you know so yes automatic firmware updates if you have Wi-Fi or an Android phone especially it could be a nice benefit and all things being equal I do like the smaller size I do like the improved button feel here is that worth the extra 200 bucks I don't necessarily think so but I do find that it is nicer nonetheless now I think another question that of course almost everybody is gonna be wondering is what about it compared to the unit in r3 this is the detector that I actually run as my detector that I depend on I run a different detector every week for testing and stuff but when I actually need a radar detector you know I depend on it to keep me protected the 360 or sorry the r3 is the one that I run now people are gonna wonder okay what about you know this guy versus this guy let's talk about that kind of briefly $400 $700 so $300 more to get this one this one this is soft launch right now you can get it this guys in stock when I'm riding it but a lot of times it's tough to get because demand is crazy anyway better performance here the longer range for almost half the price which sounds kind of crazy but then you also gotta keep in mind that well this guy has you know your arrows here on the front of Tector the lockouts are automatic instead of manual you've got your bluetooth and your Wi-Fi integration for cloud integration this guy doesn't have that at all but you could just runways for your cloud alerts you know the lock outs I think I mentioned they're automatic you've got your automatic display brightness adjustment the automatic sensitivity adjustments so there is more kind of automation that's available here whereas this one route does require a little bit more work to create your lockouts initially when you get a false alert you know you just double tap the mute button and then it remembers it and filters it out for you but that is an extra step that you as a user have to do when you first get the detector and you start driving around initially so there was a little bit more manual work that's required here but it is nice I mean you've got a smaller detector you know if we take a look it is more compact and it's got better performance for almost half the price and so I think this is obviously still gonna be a hugely compelling option it's my detector of choice and I know for a lot of people it is but of course we all have different preferences and priorities and needs right so there's no detector that's perfect for everybody so if you want the auto lockouts and auto updating and stuff you know you can get this one you want the unit and get the unit in you know a lot of choices and we're lucky to have choices I think one of the biggest differences is well actually the way the companies are responding and while treating their customers unit in their did a good job as far as firmware updates they actually shared with me recently things you're gonna be coming over the next couple firmware updates and it's very clear that they're actively listening to the customers and the new features and you know things that they're implementing is directly things that people have been reporting and asking unit and floor with escort honestly when we report stuff they either blow us off we get disrespected our posts get deleted and they're basically telling their users to buzz off they're almost doing everything in their power to piss off their user base and I don't think that's good business so I'm a little upset with escort I'm disappointed with their behavior it's just kind of a bummer to see the way escort is acting these days so kind of a part of the equation that's a little bit separate from the performance and filtering and features is the way companies are listening to their users and interacting with us and updating things it's a very night and day difference with escort compared to well you radenso net radar everybody else like it's kind of sad to see what escorts doing these days but kind of coming back to the features in blah blah blah you can't have to decide you know if you want the extra you know Wi-Fi capabilities if you want the auto lockouts and if so maybe the 360 is the choice for you if not just get the unit in r3 you know so anyway that's my take for those of you guys wondering about those two detectors and then so finally kind of the summary well pretty much what it said at the beginning of the video you know we've got an update to the max 360 for $50 more MSRP or almost $200 more as far as the price you can actually get it for the performance is the same the filtering is the same the main difference is it's slightly redesigned a little bit smaller the arrows now go around the entire face of the detector and well it's got Wi-Fi capabilities which are questionably useful but if you have Wi-Fi in your car yes you do get automatic firmware updates and automatic red light camera database updates that is a cool feature and I actually wish more detectors and more companies would implement something like this I think it's a really cool capability to be able to do this the only other one that I know of is the net radar with AOP it can update itself like that you're not a ton of other ones but as far as windshield mounts the max 360 C is the only other detector that can do that again escort has done firmware updates over Bluetooth before with the original escort redline so yes they could of course do the same thing with their other Bluetooth based detectors but I'm guessing at this point moving forward they're gonna want to do it only on Wi-Fi is kind of like a product separation and while entice customers to upgrade to their higher to your radar detectors and that's probably a big reason why they're wanting to do this so anyway there's a look at the max 360 see I'm not entirely sold on it as you can tell I think the original 360 is still a better buy despite the fact that the new one is a little bit smaller and the buttons feel a little bit better honestly save your money unless you need the Wi-Fi and get the original max 360 if you want the arrows and auto lockouts and all that kind of stuff you know so yeah anyway links in the video description for more information about all this stuff links to buy reviews if you want to read this review of my max 360 after you just watch my whole video my setup guide to how to actually use the 360 in program and all that kind of stuff for the 360 see it's all down there so anyway thanks for watching let me know your thoughts as well in the detector and yeah I was hoping this video would be short which is kind of why I wanted to do that summary at the beginning of the video I had a feeling it would be a little bit longer and as usual it was because my videos are always comprehensive and in-depth and I suck at making short videos so anyway thanks so much for watching I hope you guys have enjoyed it and I'll see you guys in the next video bye
