EP13 TRIP AROUND AUSTRALIA IN A VAN / KARRATHA TO BROOME / 80 MILE BEACH / CAPE KERAUDREN / FISHING

[Music] in this episode we go from karatha we stay at yule creek just shy of port hedland we then hit the froggen toad to port hedland stay with our mates dane and tony before leaving stopping in at cape cod also pronounced cape corrosion from cape cod we go up the tarmac all the way to 80 mile beach and we stay there for a night or two hey guys welcome back to another episode we are currently at yule river um we've left carratha and we're heading to port hedland tomorrow after that we're going to head straight up to broome meet my family up there so it should be a pretty good episode so how good is this little free camp it's just on wiki camps it's free i think we're actually on a station but yeah munda station they've just been kind enough to open up their gates for everyone to come in and stay looks like it's pretty well kept little campsite we're probably only gonna stay here for one night and then yeah head to port hedland the weather's already getting a bit more humid which is nice but unfortunately we won't be swimming much uh further up the coast i think ex-mouth is sort of the furthest we're going to be swimming so we might get a different broom who knows i'm not even too sure if you can swim there so we'll be on the hunt for some creeks guys episodes might change from coast to creek pretty quickly there isn't much water in the yule river at the moment i was hoping to get a a fish somewhere there but yeah she's pretty dry probably the wrong season for it so for lunch today guys it's pretty much what we have for lunch every day we just get a different style of meat from the deli at coles or woolies or iga or wherever the hell we are this time it's mordella i think that's how you say it mortadella slice up some tomatoes cucumber red onion um a heap of sauce um at the moment we've been frothing this pepper garlic from foodie fine food wa so good and we just mixed that in with a bit of chili sauce at the moment we're running carnarvon's locally grown unbox and that's an absolute treat and we just coat that on everything at the moment it is so good that stuff couldn't rate it highly so if you're in canada make sure you stop at bum bucks good morning guys it is a new bloody day another stunning day up in the pilbara probably thinking does this guy ever wear a different shirt and the answer is no i love this shirt it's my favorite shirt but if you've been on the road you'd also know that doing washing sucks so getting a few days out of a shirt is probably one of your biggest missions so i'm going to wear this shirt again today maybe i might change i don't know yet but we're gonna go to port hedland um i'm gonna get on google in a minute and see what the top things to do in port hedland are and i'm sure we'll go do one of them and then later on today we're gonna meet up with sarah's mates we might not film that and then we'll make our way to broome so hopefully stay at 80 mile beach heard good things about that spot where else are we gonna stay there's a few stations sarah's um spoken about that she wants to stay at so we'll have to check them out and yeah but apart from that we don't really have much plan in this episode our local knowledge is going to start dwindling away as we get further up the coast port hedland is officially the furthest me and sarah have been in wa our own state i know pretty hard to believe so we don't really know much about the area just to give you guys a bit of a rough um insight of what our day to day looks like we wake up have about six coffees um we sit here for about i don't know two hours um i'm normally busy editing and sarah's replying to the numerous comments we get on facebook instagram um patreon just everything really um sometimes we reply to 100 comments a day and sometimes i can sit here and edit for six hours a day so it all depends and sometimes we can have one coffee and sometimes we can have 20. so but pretty much this is what it looks like i've just got my laptop right here um at the moment i'm actually editing this video that i'm speaking on right now for you guys and like i said we're still at your river still haven't taken off to go to port hedland yet i guess we'll go there in a few hours and see what there is to do in port hedland the other day we had to research how far crocodiles come south which is pretty funny because we have just no idea about crocodiles and all that jazz so that'll be interesting when we are around crocodiles what we're going to actually be like i'm scared are you they come out of the water sharks you just get out of the water and you're safe crocodiles will follow you out of the water like i feel like i have this like horror movie thing in my head that i'm gonna get chased by a crocodile but and they death roll ya crocodiles can death roll like full-on like what shot munching on you wouldn't be bad no i'd rather get attacked by a shark than death rolled by crocodile anyway who would would you rather yeah who would win a shark or a crocodile [Music] so we made it to port hedland um passed through south headland we've googled what the best attraction in port headland is number one on the list is the visitor center and you know you're in for a good day when the first thing that comes up on the recommended list is going to the visitor centre anyway number two is this spot it's called pretty pool it's actually really nice and we're just having some lunch down here guys yeah just soaking up the serenities eh it's beautiful what's for lunch we got a bit of chili tuna tomato rice and peri-peri sauce yum so we're switching it up from wraps today guys wraps are good but when you have them every day sometimes it gets a bit old so go on the tuna and rice today guys it's going down a treat [Music] um so we're just down pretty pools and we saw like a little octopus in there um there's some mangrove jack yeah that's right um and heaps of like little fish so we might go for a fish after but yeah so cool good morning guys um we've just left port hedland um in south hedland um you've probably been wondering what we've been doing the last couple days we haven't filmed anything we've been drinking beers at the pub eating chicken parmies um just trying to live a normal life for a little bit um in suburbia which has been nice we've been staying with our friends um dana and tani and their two dogs floki and freya we'll put some footage over this to them they're the most adorable dogs you've ever seen and their owners go alright as well you wanna go for a walk just trying to slip out the straw [Music] anyway funny thing happened this morning i've got to tell you guys about so we woke up to a few notifications on the phone as you do um we got a new patreon belinda um thanks so much for that and then we went into the shops to get some supplies before we bugger off out into the bush and next thing we know we meet belinda our new patreon crazy we could have been in any any country town they could have been from anywhere in the whole world um and we run into them at bloody port hedland or south headland it's insane how it works anyway we ran into paul and belinda this morning um absolute legends crazy we're still blown away how bloody works hey so instead of thanking him with a message over patreon we just thanked him in real life with a handshake and we had a good old chat and coles in the middle of the aisle everyone was probably getting pissed off because we're having a chin wagon for the coals but anyway it was just insane hey and then we just kept following them around the shop because they're not getting rice they were getting rice it was just it was so comical and funny um and they're legends aye but yeah just spacious i don't know how the hell that works we might go buy a lot of tickets just as much odds of that happening as winning the lotto so anyway we're heading out to a spot called um cake crawl quadrant quadrant or something yeah so it's it's pretty uh spelt kurujin or something like that but apparently the locals call it coidrin so we're gonna go out there have a bit of a look and then we'll probably go find a free camp tonight um didn't have much luck fishing the other day pretty poor apparently like it just gets hit hard um there's no fish in there so anyway we're gonna go have a look up here and um see how we bloody go [Music] so we're just at cape croydon um it's twelve dollars entry per car and then ten dollars per adult a night um but it's absolutely beautiful how bloody good is this joint um we stumbled across this one we didn't actually know it was that good uh we just heard of it just thought we'd bloody stop in and it's literally the best free camp sorry not free camp beach camp um that we've had pretty much on the whole coast we reckon we're just having some tuna and rice for lunch with some cherry tomatoes stirred into it and a bit of hot sauce because at the moment we just seem to be putting hot sauce on literally everything so which isn't a bad thing but um we're gonna go try and get a fish off the rocks here um just got some hardy head white bait i'm just going to go fling a few of them around maybe some lures and see what we've got we can come up with [Music] check this out on my foot i just fell off the rock but you found a pretty sick little swimming hole here looks just right for us two two's enough three is a crowd hopefully no one comes down and gets in our little pilot bath it's not very deep [Music] wow so i didn't get any fish with the little slice that i'm using um a heap of people are catching little fish just with bait might come down and try later right on the high tide but for now i've got to do the walk of shame back to the caravan without any bloody fish so let's go [Music] so we've just left cape agent yep something like that um and we're now driving into 80 mile beach it's so beautiful here i literally drive over the little hill and you can see the blue water and like little palm trees and stuff so pretty um it's been such a weird few days first we see our patreons in kohl's linda and paul yeah and then we're at um the campsite last night and we see bruno and um cheryl who have been following us on youtube so it's the start too like they remember our first episodes when we couldn't speak on camera really we still can't speak on camera very well but yeah they have been with us since the start so that's amazing yeah so surreal like meeting people that actually follow us on youtube and stuff like sick yeah we're going to check in here at 80 mile apparently you don't need a book you just roll in they've got overflow powered sites and amenities as well and then we'll see what there is to do around here i can already see a few things to do such as wet and line um but yeah we'll check in see what we can do see if we can even get a site so yeah stay tuned guys what do you reckon at this joint yeah not bad didn't even know there was a caravan park here um we just thought it was like a little beach camp sort of set up but it's a full-blown caravan set up it's insane so nice grass sites power showers yeah shade insane only 35 bucks an aren't too bloody cheap so to put in perspective that camp that we stayed at last night that was that was twelve dollars entry and then ten dollars per adult so for nothing good views but this one's 35 for power oh sorry water showers grass shade and the beaches right there as well so you guys decide where you'd rather stay yeah so we made it this is 80 mile beach guys so pretty much pick a spot wherever you want there's no one around as you can see absolutely stunning the tide is currently halfway in so you've got to watch that when you drive your car down onto the flat spots here the sand can be deceivingly soft and it apparently does take a lot of cars here once you get stuck the sand almost like acts as a suction cup and yeah no matter how many max tracks you got or you know you got a winch you can't use it off anything so sometimes people can't even snatch it out so you've got to be careful just keep that in mind if you do come down here guys but have a look at this joint i spent most of my time viewing all right this place is top of my list it's insane the water is just like turquoise blue it's amazing so pretty for my iced coffee got my book in the car it should be a nice afternoon [Music] so we're just down here at the beach sorry if the audio is crap our camera with the microphone died anyway walking down to the beach you just got to be careful here because the urchins and also stone fish in the water like you can't quite see inside the murky water so you can't see really what's underneath the surface if you stand on the stone fish you're straight to hospital you might be bloody dying that's good to know just before we go on the water you'll be eating hospital food for a little while too so just wear some booties not like us we're wearing bare feet but um yeah you're gonna count me and bring some booties when things go [Music] on and this is on how to tire out your boyfriend 101 killing go again [Music] does anything i say max set [Music] go [Music] hmm [Music] i can live [Music] [Music] man [Music] is crowd when things [Music] the old shark g'day guys we're back down the beach again we cooked up that shark that i caught yesterday it tasted absolutely superb even sarah was super happy with how it tasted it wasn't fishy at all so good and no bones which is a rarity for me um so i reckon that concludes today's episode yeah i've had
