today we're going to look into enter the gungeon's deepest theories and speculations enter the gungeon is a roguelike bullet hell game where Fork Engineers attempt to claim the Ultimate Prize for Conquering the gungeon the gun that can kill the past your main objective in the game is to go back to the past with each playable character and rectify their mistakes but surprisingly this cute little indie game has a lot more lore to it than just that a while ago someone created an enter the gungeon iceberg which contained a lot of interesting theories about the gungeon and that inspired me to create my own Iceberg the way that my iceberg is structured is that the first two layers explain a lot of the Baseline lore of the game and this will serve as an intro to enter the gungeon lore and as a refresher for anyone who hasn't played gunjin in a long time if you're more interested in the deeper theories about this game or if you're confident that you know a lot of enter the gungeon lore already I recommend skipping to tier 3. there are time stamps in the description for your convenience and finally one last thing there's going to be a lot of spoiler for a lot of sections of this game throughout the video so you've been warned but yeah that just about covers it without further Ado I give you the enter the gungeon iceberg as mentioned earlier the primary objective of this game is to kill your past you have to find the gun that can kill the past to travel back in time with each engineer and change one decision that each of them made there are four main Engineers that have their own reasons for trying to get back the Marine was a soldier who was stationed at a laboratory named the primerdine research lab seven years ago an experiment at the slab on a ride causing an interdimensional horror to appear this either killed much of the security detail or drove them insane and rather than fighting this horror the Marine used the excuse that his gun was jammed and headed for the Escape pods in an act of cowardice leaving the rest of his Squad mates and the scientists there to die to fix this the Marine has to fight and slay the interdimensional horror thus rewarding him with the galactic medal of valor for saving the laboratory from complete Annihilation the pilot and his friend who is only referred to as Z were salvaging a ship in an empty area of space when they were approached by a hegemony a man Battleship ordering them to cease their actions immediately originally the pilot fled abandoning Z but when he goes back to the past now the pilot defeats the Dreadnought and saves his friend the convict's real name is laser Lily and she was the head of a criminal organization she bribed a hegemony official named the black stash which allowed her to continue her operations however we learned that the black stash portrays her and tries to arrest her anyway on accounts of tax evasion armed robbery credit fraud destruction of property selling weapons selling drugs grand larceny and conspiring to and probably committing murder 28 stab wounds oh yeah and she also resists to rust in the past the convict was defeated in the nightclub and taken into custody but now the convict defeats the black stash and escapes never to be heard of or seen again and finally the hunter was pursuing an ancient Relic that was being held by an organization named the black sword after infiltrating their headquarters and reaching the room in which the Relic was being held in she's then trapped and confronted by Dr wolfenclaw Who plans to cryogenically freeze and then experiment on her in her past she submits to him but here she uses a blank and then defeats Gordon wolf and Claws monstrosities killing the Mad scientists in the process those are the four main pasts but there are two more unlockable Engineers each with their own past the robot is unlocked by bringing the bus of Television to the blacksmith who resides in the fifth chamber in its past it was actually part of a kill Squad that was assigned to hunt down the last humans but while fighting the last human in the emperor's Arena the robot breaks protocol and refuses to kill her allowing Humanity to fight back against his robotic oppressors when we go back to the robot's past we have to kill the last human causing every robot to enter low power mode the other one is the bullet which is unlocked by sparing five of these red cape bulletkin which can be found on any floor of the gungeon and will refuse a fire at you in his past he has to stop a Gundam and cannon from enslaving all bulletkin but he failed to do so beating his pass entails defeating both of these bosses thus saving the gun dead from this fate however beating the robot in the bullets pass are not required to progress the game but rather after killing the Marine pilot convict and Hunter's past if you try to go back to the gun that can kill the past this happens instead foreign bullet hell is the last chamber and entered the gungeon and is by far the most difficult mostly because there are no shops chests or NPCs on this entire floor after navigating through its maze-like layout the final boss you always encounter will be the Lich the Lich has three phases and after defeating all three you shoot him with the gun that can kill the past and then the end credits play you watch as the gungeon gets shot in the head and you win right well not exactly the gungeon's most important secret is actually another unlockable engineer called the Paradox after killing your first past you may see this pile of cosmic group during your gungeon runs stepping in this pile will give you the Paradox effect and then killing your past while you have this effect active will unlock the paradox then you have to play through the game reach bullet hell and kill the Lich again with the Paradox to unlock the gungeon's final playable character the Gunslinger if you notice this character looks very similar to delicious first phase and that's because the Gunslinger and the Lich are actually the same person now the main story here is Con debated but there are a couple things that we know for certain for one we know that the Gunslinger was the gungeon's original master and that he came here a long time ago to experiment with guns we also know that he eventually became the Lich and that he was banished to Bullet hell because of that from here we have to start assuming it's implied that the Gunslinger was cursed by some entity so when we kill the Lich as the Paradox we give the Gunslinger a chance to correct his past if we play through the entire game again and then use the gun that can kill the past on the Gunslinger we find that his pass is in bullet hell we're forced to fight through each room again to reach the Lich except this time we find that there are two liches the normal variant and a second Lich that seems to be corrupted or reflected with the same effect as the Paradox you only have to beat the first phase of each Lich to beat his past which triggers the end credit scene the end credit scene shows a fortress which is presumably what the gungeon looked like before the Gunslinger was cursed so that just about covers all the Baseline gunch and lore with all that out the way now we can start going into the deeper lore tier 3 is where we start to descend into the recesses of enter the gungeon these next few topics are Jabs at the deeper lore of this game that a majority of gungeon players are probably aware of but I still feel obligated to mention them for example most people know that after creating the bullet that can kill the past you can talk to the blacksmith for her backstory and you'll also get some info on the gunslinger's backstory as well foreign we can assume that the powerful wizard that she mentions is the Gunslinger we know this because the description for a starter weapon in the AMA Nomicon incinerates that he's magical and is also described as a legendary Gunplay expert the fourth line in her story is also pretty interesting where others walk with the staff he Strode with a strap this tells us that Society was once dominated by Sorcerers magicians and Wizards and the line right after this where she says I think he was worried that guns would make the Magics of the old world obsolete tells us that guns and Magic were two separate clashing ideologies that divided Society the Gunslinger may have been one of the only few people during this time to stay on the line between guns and Magic but he was concerned that guns would take over and become the dominant way of life these next few lines tell us more about the nature of the gungeon itself when people first began to investigate the gungeon they realized that the Fortress was not the same but when they tried to leave the gungeon trapped them the only way they could Escape was by obtaining the materials for the bullet that can kill the past and delivering them to the blacksmith who was the only one who could actually make the bullet the people who were able to escape told tales of the gungeon and the gun that can kill the past thus intrigued others to risk their lives for a shot with the fabled gun the last two lines tell us a little bit about how the gungeon was formed the blacksmith says that nobody is sure of why the great bullet struck she then says if the great bullet never shook then the God would never exist and then she says that for the people that knew the place before the power of the gun is Hollow this last line is a little bit ambiguous why would the gun's power be Hollow and in that case how does the Gunslinger shoot the gun at himself and still go back to the past what's not ambiguous though is the resourceful rat's story the ride is omnipresent throughout the gungeon he can steal your items during your regular runs he'll give you guns during your shortcut runs but he also has his own layer beneath the black powder mine the layout of this floor is like a maze and the only way to make it through the maze is by looking at the AMA Nomicon descriptions for the infuriating notes and after making it through you're then forced to fight him this boss fight is separated into three phrases with the third phrase literally being a gamma punch out and if you beat all three phases then you get to hear the resource of rat's backstory the rat was born on a ship that didn't have enough food for all of his siblings to survive so we learned to steal from the captain in an attempt to feed his family however the meager amounts of food that he brought back didn't suffice so he eventually resorted to uh eating his brothers and sisters at some point the ship landed and he found himself lost on a remote Planet he wandered until he found the gungeon and he made himself a home here stealing guns and items from gunjeneers and losing any interest whatsoever in the gun that can kill the past but there's more to the resourceful of Wrath than just that the rat is the only boss in the game that remembers you between runs if you go back to him after defeating him he indicates that he was either getting warmed up or that you and him were destined to fight each other for the rest of Eternity he also has lines for if you return to him after dying during the boss fight the resourceful rat obviously isn't a native of the gungeon rather he's more similar to the gungeoners themselves like the rest of them he has a tragic backstory but rather than trying to face it he's just a [ __ ] [ __ ] ammo mancy is a practice mentioned in a couple and monomicon entries and refers to the summoning of bullets from quote beyond the curtain but some forms of this practice can even spawn enemies this technique seems to be a blend of magic and guns which like I mentioned earlier were the two dominating ideologies in pre-gungeon society from various enemy descriptions we can learn that most amomancy techniques are taught in the school of gun duration furthermore we can see that there are different classes that applicants could become they could train to become a gunslinger or basically play a support class or they could become a gun juror which is basically the DPS class however it's apparent that you don't have to be a part of the school to know amomancy for example executioners are shotgun wielding gun dead that know small amounts of this practice in addition there are a lot of branches of amomancy that are separate or shunned by the school for one the revolvants learned their magic from the Gunslinger himself amomancers which have the ability to summon skeletons were ostracized from the first levels of the gungeon because of their dark magic the gemomancers practice a forbidden form of ammomancy by converting a regular gun dead into a jammed enemy whiz-bangs are apostates of the school referring to Traverse the Ethereal Plains instead whatever that means agunim who is the wizard in the bullet's past and is also the boss of the RNG Department apparently has reflected his own type of emmancy my point being it's clear that there are many magical applications to guns that are practical throughout the gungeon it's probable that rather than being two ideologies that constantly clashed guns and Magic combined to form one distinct ideology in the gungeon the finished gun is rather well known but I still want to talk about it here when you unlock every single item and gun in the ammo Nomicon save for a few special weapons you unlock the finished gun which replaces The Unfinished gun and is essentially entered the gungeon's way of thanking you for playing the entire game through to completion the gun is the swan song of a prolific gunsmith and we can assume this gunsmith to be the blacksmith in the Forge since we see her constantly working on an unfinished gun throughout the game however what many of you probably don't know is that the finished gun goes by another name in The Game's code the black revolver what's even more interesting is that there's an unused gun that is also coincidentally named the black revolver the amonomicon entry for this gun states that this gun was carried by the bearer of a terrible curse we can assume that this bear is the Gunslinger the main reason being is that there's a second model for this gun that looks incredibly similar to the Gunslinger starting pistol [Music] the Imperial hegemony of man is mentioned quite a lot in the gungeon this entity acts as a space military seemingly having control over a majority of the Galaxy Cadence tells us that their hegemony credits have become a galaxy-wide standard indicating that they become a widespread and Powerful influence on Galactic Affairs in addition three of the four main good engineer paths are directly related to the hegemony whether it's against or alongside their forces in the Pilot's past we learn that they directly owned specific portions of space and the encroachment on their territory can result in severe legal penalties in the convicts past we learned that the hegemony accepts bribe money from Criminal organizations but then proceeds to launch full-scale sting operations on those criminals and in the Marine ending we learned that the hegemony funds and protects Labs that research space Tech but are also too weak to stop the onset of interdimensional Horrors this is noted in some anonymicon entries as well in which we can see that the hegemony weapons are inaccurate and prone to jamming Cadence also mentions that the hmon are constantly fighting with Rebels indicating that there's definitely some forms of corruption within this entity thus causing insurrections to rise up in an attempt to rid the Galaxy of them one of these rebellions could be related to the 10 days War which is mentioned in a couple of entries this war seems to be a conflict between the hegemony and a group of robots one intriguing insight into their history is that at one point they had a special forces team known as the void core which were led by a man nicknamed ThunderBolt from an amanomicon entry for an unused item we learned that his real name is Alistair furthermore in the entry for the void core assault rifle the void core were disbanded for an unknown reason which is what caused Thunderbolt to travel to the gungeon there are a couple more mentions of Thunderbolt in the gungeon for example you can find a note in a secret room that insinuates that rather than using blanks or break open cracked walls he just throws himself at them personally my favorite mention actually comes from an item that didn't even make the final cut of the game the Thunderbolt item is set to contain his soul aside from that one of the hegemony's most interesting Ventures has to do with their attempted occupation of the gungeon the AMA Nomicon entry for the tread knot which is a boss in the third chamber states that the hegemony tried to occupy the gungeon but failed and as a result they left behind some of their weapons which explains why we're able to find weapons like the hegemony rifle in the gungeon even before we purchase any guns from ox and caddens also they brought a tank to the gungeon because why the [ __ ] not I mean I don't know how well an M4 Sherman would hold up against a bullet-breathing dragon but hey what do I know right I'm not part of a space throwing motoristic organization anyway they left a tank behind in the gungeon so the gun dead repurposed it interestingly enough began to follow military customs and practices as a result foreign [Music] this is tier 4 of the iceberg these next few topics are ones you might have heard of before but their lore is honestly a lot more deeper than I thought caliber is the goddess of guns and bullets that's constantly referenced throughout enter the gungeon and many people believe that she is responsible for cursing the Gunslinger which transformed him into the Lich but she herself never makes a direct appearance in the game instead there are statues of her in the ABIA the true gun that show what she looks like and it seems as if her design and her lore are heavily rooted in religion the statues of caliber features six arms that hold guns a human skull a sword and a bowl of blood there are some sources in the gungeon that say she has seven arms but to be honest an extra arm doesn't change much her overall description is similar to that of a Hindu goddess named Cali which in Hinduism is the goddess of creation destruction Fury and motherhood most of the time she's depicted of having four arms which can be seen holding ahead a bowl of blood and her signature sword and this form is very similar to one depicted to enter the gungeon there are some more connections between these two goddesses in the game for one Cali is a representation of Carnage and fury as there are a lot of stories of her slang demons dancing on the corpses and drenching herself in their blood she's basically doomguy but with more hands and a sword interestingly enough When you pray at a bloodshine in the gungeon the caption for receiving the sacrifice buff is caliber ma shaktide which is similar to the line Kalima shaktide this is not only a reference to that one line in the one Indiana Jones movie but is also related to the concept of Shakti and Hinduism to simplify it Shakti basically means strength and energy so the line caliber ma shaktide roughly translates to Mother caliber give me power and strength we can also draw another connection to these two goddesses during the kill pillars boss fight foreign the final pillar seems to be possessed by caliber and also gains a redder Hue than before which may be due to her bloody and destructive nature in addition to this after you kill the killed pillars for the first time and talked to the drunkard he says tell me at the end did you see her I can see in your eyes that you did know this she's behind much of this this line hints at the creation of the gungeon since it's implied that caliber fired the great bullet and cursed the Gunslinger to Bullet hell but caliber's story isn't just based in Hindu culture in three specific anonomicon entries there are references to the revelations into Genesis which are sections of the Bible in the particulator entry we can find Genesis sorry gunassis 1-1 in the beginning the gungeon was formless and void and bullets moved over the face of the deep in the entry for the Gilded Hydra we can find revolvations 22 1. these are the words of caliber she who grips the seven sidearms in her hands and walks among the six loaded Chambers when the gun is drawn to the heart of the pacifist and when the chambers are empty and the shells are spent the last of the jammed will Ascend to seal the breach forever and finally revolvations 2212 found in the shell gun entry reads as with all things the gun must eventually end the final Billet will leave the chamber and all will be reloaded personally I'm not well versed in the Bible so I don't feel too confident in trying to speak on these quotes if someone wants to try to connect these lines to actual scripture then you're completely welcome to but what I find interesting is that this is not the only religion that prayer meets the gungeon in the game you're able to pray to a goddess named Payne and Dr wolfenclaw from the Hunter's past is also described to have created a religion himself there are even mentions of religious cults in the gungeon the order of the true gun is a cult that worships caliber throughout the game you'll run into many enemies that are associated with this cult for example the gun cultists were once previously good Engineers seeking the gun that can kill the past but they went insane and joined the cult instead Cardinals are high-ranking members of the order who have received caliber's blessing and spread her gospel among the gun dead the confirmed which are also referred to as caliber cultists by The Game's code seem to be gun dead that were mutated during experiments conducted by the order perhaps a cult attempted to summon caliber or the spirit of caliber and these confirmed were failed attempts to do so the AMA Nomicon picture for the confirmed is similar to another boss in the game that being the high priest the high priest is the leader of the order of the true gun and is described as an avatar caliber sometimes you might encounter her as a boss at the end of the fourth chamber but when you defeat her she simply disappears leaving only her necklace behind she's one of the only few bosses to do this most bosses just explode or become a corpse and there are only a few other enemies that have similar death animations for example the door Lord and the mind flare also do something similar but they both show pain before they disappear which is different from the high priest's sudden disappearance the only other enemy that I can think of that does the same thing is the gun Reaper which is also described as the will of caliber incarnate in its anonomicon entry one possible explanation I thought of for this relates back to religion in Hinduism Cali isn't always a blood hungry demon slaying deity she's extremely generous and often gives blessings to her followers this could hold true for caliber as well meaning that the high priest or caliber's most devout follower and her Avatar in the Mortal plane can be under her protection there's one other mention of the high priest that I think is noteworthy in the amonomicon entry for the gunslinger's ashes we learn that she is the only one who can quote preserve a body with gun intact and this could explain why the high priest was chosen to be head of the cult the yellow chamber is an item that you unlock after killing 10 confirmed or after teleporting to This creepy ass eyeball room using the teleporter prototype when picked up it grants a variety of bonuses one of them being that there's a high chance that any given enemy will be Charmed when you enter a room when you clear that room that Charmed enemy will be snatched up by some lovecraftian tentacles this is definitely connected to something I'll talk about deeper in the iceberg but in addition the yellow chamber behaves weirdly outside of combat there's a small chance that when you pull up your map the chamber is replaced with a large eyeball not only is this connected to the eyeball room but it also could be connected to the mirror chest as well rarely you can come across a mirror room with a chest and Its Reflection and when you open the chest a large eyeball appears in the mirror that curses you this item also forms some interesting synergies with other items you find throughout the gungeon when you have both the yellow chamber and the Abyssal tentacle their Synergy is called caliber's grip where the Abyssal tentacle turns gray this may indicate that caliber may have another lovecraftian Avatar the yellow chamber also synergizes with Dragonfire forming the caliber Synergy this also turns Dragonfire gray overall the yellow chamber seems to be a reference to the king and yellow which is a series of short stories written by Robert Chambers and serves as inspiration for parts of lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos one aspect of the gungeon that's captivating to me is the dungeoneers that rented the gungeon in the past I've already mentioned Thunderbolt who was a captain of the hegemony's Void core before his engineering career but there are more mentions in the aminomicon of a lot more different people there was a wizard named Albin smallbor who created a variety of magical weapons in the gungeon by quote enhancing mundane objects to make them more gun-like his experiments extended to pillows boots and even his own hand at one point he also created an unused active item called a scroll of wonder that presumably had destructive and unpredictable consequences if used there was once a hunter named Emmett calcs who apparently crafted a number of animal related guns for example he transformed a compressed air tank into a shark firing gun and he also created a bait launcher that somehow summons a tiger into the gungeon from another unused item called The Monster Ball we learned that calcs tried to ensnare the bill holster once and from the Rattler it's implied that Emmett calc's died trying to combine a shotgun and a venomous snake two shot areas seem to be an avid Runner of the gungeon who claimed that getting drunk before a gunfight would double their effectiveness in combat she wielded the Phoenix in her final run through the gungeon nugen was a necromantic gunsmith that was exiled from his homeland presumably because of his dabblings in the dark arts he turned to the gungeon to continue his work creating weapons such as this AK-47 assembled from some random guy's spine and this pistol forged from a dying skeleton his bones are apparently in the hollow and it is said that all curse originated from his decayed corpse hespera hailed from the planet Venus her preferred weapons were the shotgun full of love and The Charmed bow but we don't know much else about her life we do know that after she died her shotgun became corrupted by hate changing it from the shotgun full of love to the shotgun full of hate Cormorant heard the legend of the gungeon and was curious enough to come here it's insinuated that he was skilled enough to reach the forge But ultimately failed to beat the high Dragon he also had his helmet stolen by the resourceful rat if you somehow managed to find his Gauntlet Grieves chess piece and helmet in one run you can actually transform him into him this increases your curse by three but removes a Reload time of all your guns woban the Cartographer was a prominent figure in the gungeon who attempted to map out the gungeon but while drawing a map of the forge the walls began to shift prompting him to leave suddenly he returned many years later and it's implied that he spent his final years creating the gungeon blueprint which reveals the layout of every single floor in the gungeon and finally an unnamed engineer also apparently had a child in the gungeon which is indicated in the entry for the third party controller that child received the controller as a gift after making it to the black powder mines but lost it by dropping it into a pit we can assume that this child is actually the cultist since this child also seemed to have dropped the light gun in a pit forcing them to amuse themselves but dart gun instead the blobulin war was an attempted takeover of the Galaxy by these creatures yes I'm not joking there is actual lore for these [ __ ] red slimes for a super detailed in-depth dive into all the lore surrounding the blobulins I highly recommend watching never names video on it but here I'll go over all the major points at one point during their existence the blobilonian Empire spanned over a thousand worlds they developed a rather Advanced Society rather than just being a military the blobs formed relationships and had feelings we know this through a series of notes that we can find in secret rooms throughout the gungeon however they were very well prepared for all forms of combat soldiers were subdivided into ranks and groups based on their abilities and size for example the largest blood balloon we encounter in the gungeon is the Blobby Lord which has apparently consumed four stars worth of mass during its Galactic conquests there are soldiers assigned to regular infantry heavy infantry and Berserker divisions as noted in the amino Nomicon also some soldiers in the Army were biologically modified the cubalants are not actually cubicle in nature but are instead turned into cubes so they could be easily packed into transport ships the Poise Beyonds are described as a terrifying advancement in blood bolognian Warfare and they also reference the Geneva Convention this of course is referencing the Geneva Convention which was signed after World War one and outright outlawed chemical warfare as well as a bunch of other evil immoral [ __ ] but since the blobilonian Empire never agreed to the terms of this convention they continue to develop highly poisonous Weaponry they didn't seem to show much regard for their subjects either as indicated in the poisbeloid entry however in spite of their monumental power they were eventually stopped by a cold patch of space this is a reference to another historical event when the Germans attempted to invade Russia during World War II they were eventually halted by the harsh Soviet winter which completely followed Hitler's plans to Blitzkrieg through Russia [Music] we're now approaching the deeper levels of the iceberg in tier 5 I'll be talking about the gungeon's Deep lore and also be sharing some theories about the gungeon we don't know much about the early days of the gungeon but there are a couple of entries that give us a rough idea first of all the so-called meta in the gungeon was very different back in the day as there was this prevailing notion that throwing a gun after it runs out of ammo was an effective way of damaging your enemy after upgrading the Ruby bracelet via the blacksmith we learned that gungeoners threw their weapons due to the perceived lack of guns in the gungeon however it is probably true that in the early days there was not as much loot as we see now thus necessitating a need to be more resourceful with one's guns even the gun dead were different in the past rather than bulletkin the arrow can seemed to roam the gungeon instead the only way to see an error can now is by shooting an enemy with the devolver or with devolving rounds but these enemies are very weak compared to their modern counterparts there's also evidence that there were dinosaurs before the gungeon and that they also carried guns which is just absolutely terrifying there's no mention of how they went extinct but I think it would be really fitting if they went extinct when the Great bullet fell however the most well-documented piece of the old gungeon seems to be the story behind The Old King The Old King is the boss you face in the ABIA the true gun which is unlocked by placing the old Crest on the altar in the second chamber just looking at the boss he looks very similar to the bullet King obviously we can infer that the Old King was the king of the gungeon but he was eventually dethroned how did he fall off then well this has to do with the bullet's past and the physical aminoicon there's a picture of a Gundam and Cannon pushing the Old King off his throne so what we're getting from here so far is that these two try to Sage Aku to Dethrone the Old King which caused him to flee to The Abbey of the true gun however there's one detail in the bullet's past that refutes this after we killed these two chain Gunners we get to look at these two Thrones which are presumably the Two Thrones that the previous rulers were sitting on but upon closer inspection we can see that these Thrones actually belong to the bullet King there's a little object on the top of their Thrones that differs between the two so this indicates that the events of the bullets passed occurred while the bullet King was still ruling it's possible that I'm just overthinking this but I don't think that this is a detail that can be ignored there's one last thing I want to add and it's that in the physical aminoicon there's a little doodle in the section about Canon that shows him shooting at the Lich I'm not entirely sure what this means but it's probable that Cannon died trying to fight the Lich which is what caused the Gundam to be imprisoned but analogously to the bullets past there seems to be some dissenters within the cult of the gun dead aside from the playable dungeoneer for one the red cape bullicin that you have to save to unlock the bullet don't shoot at you but apparently there are different factions of the gun dead at one point the entry for the battle standard indicates that belligerent bands of bulletin would have rallied together to raid the higher Chambers however it seems as if thesis centers were punished by death in the gungeon for one the lead maidens that you see in the gungeon proper were specifically designed to be torture machines and seemed to be heavily inspired by the real-life iron maidens also in the physical eminomicon there's a picture of an executioner using a guillotine to execute a bulletkin thus creating a spent shell their bodies also seem to be dumped in the hollow which explains why there are so many spent on this floor of the gungeon overall these entries indicate that there are punishments are falling out of line in gun dead Society so the Bullet may have the most lore-rich past but the past that has spawned the most amount of conspiracy is actually that of the Marine we know that he was stationed at a research facility and that a failed experiment drove people insane there when we started his past we spawn in a Cell right next to an apparent crazed person in the game files this man is known as tooth craze and if you stay in yourself for long enough he'll actually start talking his dialogue is very incoherent and to be honest I'm not sure about anything he's really talking about however this person mentions a female in his ramblings she will come to us to all of us the only prominent female figure I've mentioned so far is caliber so this could be a member of the order of the true gun who has been imprisoned here for further study that already is a mod in amaranth chat I can't really tell but there's another theory from the Marines past and it has to do with the final boss the interdimensional horror there's a theory that this boss actually originated from the gungeon itself and believe it or not there are a couple of points that support this for one these events take place seven years prior which means that the gungeon has existed for a couple of hundred years now up to that point a stronger piece of evidence is that during the boss fight the interdimensional horror May sometimes spawn these imp minions and interestingly enough you could find paintings of these minions in the ABIA the true gun this is a more indicative and indirect link between the two but in my opinion the strongest piece of evidence by far is actually a Synergy between two guns when you have both the Huntsman shotgun and the trick gun in your inventory they form the Insight Synergy which revealed the location of secret rooms and the visible cue that tells you where these secret rooms are is none other than the interdimensional horror but then this brings up the question of why is this thing even here in the first place well this is probably a stretch but another little tidbit that I found interesting during the interdimensional horror boss fight is that sometimes it'll use this attack this is similar to that of another enemy in the gungeon the confirmed since we've already speculated that the confirmed were experimented on by the order of the true gun could it be a stretch to say that the interdimensional horror is linked to their actions as well it probably is but it's still interesting to think about [Music] welcome to Rock Bottom in tier 6 I'll be sharing enter the gungeon's most intriguing secrets and also mention some of the wildest conspiracies I've seen and come up with about this game the first topic of contention is Edwin Edwin was a renowned blacksmith who made a number of guns that we can find throughout the gungeon it's unknown why he came here in the first place but we do know that he came here a long time ago he made himself a home in the Forge where he continued his Gunsmithing making weapons such as the Dragonfire we also know that he has two daughters one of them is the blacksmith in the Forge and the other one is Cadence who resides in the breach the blacksmith apprenticed under her father at a young age creating items such as the Alpha and Omega bullets as a part of her journeyman's trial we can then infer that he passed down his legacy to her and left the forge this may seem like a bit of a stretch but in the entry for the ring of fire resistance it says that he didn't need the ring in the latter years of his life so he passed it down to his eldest daughter instead though the game doesn't give us a reason for why he left the forge it could have just been due to old age but it may have also been something else that we don't know of another facet of Edwin's life that we still aren't sure of is if he ever met the Gunslinger we know that the blacksmith was contracted by the Gunslinger to create guns that he could use in his experiments furthermore according to her timeline of events she was hired by the Gunslinger before the great bullafell this means that Edwin was working in the Forge long before the gungeon was ever formed is it possible that Edwin was the first person to discover the Fortress when it was normal and if that's true that raises the question of what was the Fortress like before the great bullet struck obviously the gun dead weren't around back then but it's hinted in the Dragonfire entry that the high Dragon was always at the heart of the forge so Edwin's past definitely raises some good questions about the Fortress before the gungeon on October 3rd of 2016 Dodge roll posted this GIF onto their Twitter and no that is not a penis rather if we look closely at this pulsating veiny phallic object there are a couple features here of note first of all you may notice that the tip first of all you may notice that the top of this creature looks very similar to another entity I've mentioned a lot that of course being caliber secondly we can see that this creature has tentacles the overall design of this creature seems to be inspired by lovecraftian horror thus causing the gungeon community to name this creature the cthulhaver that name wasn't pulled out of thin air though see there is actually no explicit reference of cthulhbur anywhere and enter the gungeon except for one spot earlier in the video I talked about how the yellow chamber spawns these tentacles that snatches your Charmed enemies well it turns out that these are referred to in the game as cthulhaver tentacles this means that cthulhaver isn't just some fan fiction cooked up by Dojo but is an actual entity in the gungeon but if this actually exists then we have to ask why is there an Eldritch Horror in the gungeon my best shot at this question would be that this is another Avatar caliber just like how the high priest is mentioned to be an avatar of caliber it's clear that this monster is somehow connected to this goddess of guns considering that they have similar designs but that theory struggles to explain the connection between cathuliber and the eyes from the yellow chamber so I'm not exactly sure how these two points go together but it is still cool to see that at one point and entered the gunge's development history there were talks of adding Elder Taurus to the gungeon but it does suck that very little of that actually got added into the Final Cut of the game the drunkard is one of the most fascinating NPCs in the game he seems to be very knowledgeable about the gungeon but all he does is sit here and drink after defeating bosses in the game for the first time you can talk to him about said bosses he also has specific dialogue lines for some NPCs when they move into the breach but one of his more thought-provoking lines is when you're approach him for the first time as the Gunslinger this singular line tells us a lot about the drunkard first of all he knew the Gunslinger before he was cursed and became the Lich perhaps they were friends before the great wallet struck which would allow us to pinpoint why the drunkard came to the gungeon in the first place when we first talked to him he says that he came here to change the past but has since given up on that ambition now believing that he has no future we don't know when he first arrived here but since we know that he knew the Gunslinger it's likely that he came here relatively early in the gungeon's timeline it's also possible that he was a gungeon's first true gungeoner seeking to go back to the past and stop the Gunslinger from ever traveling to The Fortress though that is a pretty big theory that doesn't have a whole lot of support behind it the gungeon is inescapable theory is a conspiracy I've seen tossed around a couple of times online and before you say it I know that this game exists but let's just put that away for a moment the main argument of this theory is that every time we kill the Lich no matter the circumstances every single dungeoneer doesn't actually Escape instead they are still in the breach and are still playable characters this even applies to when we kill the gunslinger's past which is supposed to revert the gungeon back to its original form a lot of people put this Theory away saying that the game doesn't remove these characters after they get shot out of the gungeon because he would sacrifice enter the gungeon's core gameplay Loop I just want to add a couple of points to both sides of the theory so we know that the gungeon isn't a Time Loop which is the reason why our Engineers wake up in the breach when they die but it's also a well-documented fact proven in a lot of anonymicon entries and mentioned by a lot of NPCs however there is a line that the drunkard says after you defeat the advanced Dragon for the first time how many times now have you changed your past and found yourself missing this place this may indicate that the dungeoneers are willingly going back into the gungeon after leaving which to be honest I have no idea why they would do so perhaps they found some unfound joy in blasting bulletkin I really don't know also this Theory largely falls on deaf ears because the blacksmith confirms that people were able to leave the gungeon using the planar lead so the idea that the gungeon is inescapable is largely not accepted still I thought it was an interesting enough idea to put here there's one thing that stays constant between every single run in the gungeon no matter what you do the gun that can kill the past is always involved when you find the gun after killing the high Dragon you shoot yourself with it and go back to the past when you go to Bullet hell you pull out the gun and shoot the Lich and when you die you get shot by the gun and end up back in the breach the fact that when you die you get reset back to the start stays the same between all eight dungeoneers furthermore we know that other gun Engineers also experience this phenomenon we can find secret notes in some rooms that show people who Venture into the gungeon and die eventually respawn back at the top what if dying in the gungeon doesn't actually kill you then how does one truly die in the gungeon if every single gungeon related death just sets you back in the breach how are their dead engineers and if you're wondering there are a couple of entries that prove people have died in the gungeon for example the shuts are adventurous heads that have been packed with gunpowder the vertebrate 47 was created by nugen using a gungeonier's spine and nugen's bones are also in the hollow one lead that we have to answer this question actually comes from the beginning of the game sir Manuel is a ghost you meet at the beginning acting as a tutorial for new players in a satorial chamber there's a secret room containing a shield and helmet if you pick up these items and then beat sir Manuel he'll give you a mini Quest To Go and Kill the gungeoner named blockner so you embark on this quest to reach the black powder mind find blockner and then kill him but when you go and kill blockner he reappears in the breach as a ghost but wait why didn't he just get shot back in time like we do after we die according to all other accounts a death should equal a reset but why does that not apply here then well it's because another good engineer shot him technically the engineers are not a part of the gungeon so when we kill blockner the gungeon can't bring him back this is also something I noticed in the cultists past the cultist is a engineer that you can only play as in co-op mode but when you shoot the gun at him you're taken to earlier in the day the cultist initiates a fight with his Co-op partner and when either one of them dies they turn into a ghost so this is one explanation for how people can die in the gungeon but this is a very Niche way of dying that probably doesn't apply to every gun engineer there is one other lead I have on this problem the AMA Nomicon entry for the pink Guan Stone tells us that some Fallen dungeoneers participated in blood rituals self-sacrificial rituals would be another non-gungeon related death but besides that I can't find any other confirmed ways that gun Engineers would have fallen and on that that is my entire rendition of the enter the gungeon iceberg if you've somehow made it to the end of this video thank you so much for watching this was a really fun video to make because I honestly didn't expect it to be this much lower for a cute pixel game I know that I didn't borrow a lot of the theories from the original iceberg that I referenced at the start of the video and that's because personally I wanted to explore and research bits of gungeon lore that I could explain thoroughly still I do think that pyramid sand neon's original iceberg is very interesting so I recommend checking it out I put a link in the description also I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on my Iceberg and any other theories about the gungeon that you have so feel free to leave a comment about anything I missed or got wrong here also also I made a more gameplay oriented video about enter the gungeon that you also might be curious about but uh yeah that just about covers it thank you so much for watching and I'll see you in the next one
