well I had lemon juice a lot of lemon but you see anyways guys if it's your first time here consider subscribing from Monday to Friday I post English lessons of all kinds grammar pronunciation vocabulary phrasal verbs speaking tips all kinds of lessons because I want to help you become a better and more confident English speaker so hey consider subscribing but let's get down to business cuz I have a lot of information today if you are watching this video live participate in the chat post your questions because your questions can become videos haha yeah you have an English question make sure to post it because then I can create a lesson I have taken a lot of suggestions from last week so stay tuned I'm creating stuff for you awesome so we are going to talk about 3rd conditionals ok conditional we don't need actually don't need the ass over there but quicker quicker announcement just to let you know I have two other videos about conditionals about 0 and first conditional and second conditional so if you are just here and you just found me on youtube search make sure to watch the other videos I'm going to give a short review of the other kinds of conditional but it's important that you also watch the other lessons because I'll be giving more details in those lessons today is just a quick review so that we can get back to the lesson because here it's not just a you video it's a lesson okay so make sure to pay attention take notes and do the homework every video at the end of every video I give you homework I ask you a question and you have to come back here in the comments and participate well here we go quick review what are conditionals okay conditionals are sentences that we use to indicate a certain condition okay so to achieve a certain result so we want to do something we want to have a specific result to get this result we need to do something this thing we need to do is the condition so that's what conditionals are all about something we need to do and a possible result a condition in a result okay not necessarily something I have to do but a condition and a possible result a possible condition and a possible result okay and you will need the word the conjunction if to create this structure this structure always needs two clauses okay you will sentences in a basic way to explain Clause it's the sentence of phrase so you will always need two clauses the if Clause is always the condition clause the second class is always the result clause okay and let's take a look at the first conditional real quick so the first conditioner that I showed you always indicates a real real this is important okay a real possibility in the future so in your if clause your condition Clause you will need to use simple present and the second Clause will use simple future will okay so let's imagine if I drink more lemon tea I will be stronger haha yay so I'm talking about a real possibility the more drink the more juice and lemon juice you drink the better you feel well the healthier you become so here I am indicating a real ability of something happening in my future and just remember that with the conditional clauses you can invert the position you can start with the result clause and then go to the if Clause the result the the condition clause okay so here I said if I study hard that's the if condition clause what's the possible result I will learn English I can invert this I will learn English if I study hard okay awesome after that in my second video I talked about second conditional huh do you remember second conditional Here I am talking about an unreal possibility in the future it's impossible it's unreal it's it talks about something that it's impossible that is impossible to happen now there's no chance of happening now or in the future okay so the structure is different your if Clause will be in the past okay and your result Clause will be with would plus a verb okay this verb has no conjugation it's in the base form without to some examples here if I had more time so the verb here is half but in the structure it's in the past form because I needs to use in the simple past if I had more time what would be the possible consequence the possible result I would start a new course but I don't have time so I cannot start a new course this is unrealistic this is unreal it's not possible at least in this case it's not possible now there are some situations when you when you use this this is structure and the situation is really really impossible any time so if I were taller I would play basketball well I'm not a teenager I'm not growing anymore this is it I stopped growing so it's impossible for me to be taller but imagining you know I would play basketball if I were taller so this would be a result if I were a little taller so that's the idea of the second conditional and again you can invert the position between the if clause and the result clause you can start with the result class and then go to the if clause okay it's possible to do that now and if you are feeling that is explanation this explanation is a little bit quick it is intentionally okay as I told you I have two other videos focusing completely on second conditional and first conditional this is just a review so that we can get to the point where I explained third conditionals if you need more explanation about first and second I have videos just to talk about these guys and if you are enjoying the video Hey ah you know what you have to do right hit the like button when you hit the like button you helped me understand what kind of lessons you enjoy and by the way you also help YouTube because then YouTube understands that you enjoy my videos and they will give you more suggestions recommendations notifications of my lessons so make sure to hit the like button because you have me you help yourself you help everybody anyways moving on now we can focus on third conditional uh-huh it's nice well you also have two clauses it's the same structure two clauses the if the condition and the result okay but now the structure is different in the if Clause let's focus on the if clause on the if Clause you are going to use if plus head plus past participle this is a little bit longer okay this structure is a little bit harder but you can do it and the second clause is the result clause you have would have always okay would have and then past participle so you have past participle in the two sentences okay in the two clauses but in the if you have past perfect had plus past participle and in the second clause you have would have plus past participle now you may be thinking okay teacher pricks what is past participle you know I have no idea what is this well remember when you were a basic learner or pre intermediate learner and you learned the simple past of the verbs right so we have the base form let's say go then you have the past form went now you have another possible conjugation the past participle the past participle will be used with different tenses in English okay such as present perfect best participle passive voice okay there will be other there are other ones but basically you use this conjugation with past participle past perfect present perfect this is the moment when you use this third conjugation this is the third column of the verb so you have the base form you have the past form and now you have the past participle form okay so you will use this conjugation of the verbs if the verb is regular you don't change anything you just say the same past form is the same past participle form so travel in the past is travel and in the past participle is traveled again now if the verb is irregular then there are changes like go for example go in the past is went in the past participle it's gone okay so for irregular verbs the conjugation of past participle may be different okay so this is a structure again you have the if class you use hat you always use head if plus hat plus past participle and then the second clause the result clause you always use would have plus past participle okay so if you are watching this lesson and you really want to learn write this down okay this is important moving on okay teacher you talked about the structure okay I got it fine but how about the the use when do I use it well first how about subscribing to my channel you know I'm always asking you guys to subscribe because from my analytics from my reports from YouTube more than 50% actually almost 60% of people who watch my videos who participate who post comments who share my videos are not subscribed so check your subscription make sure that you are subscribed to my channel because this really helps the community grow okay and you will get all the notifications from every lesson I post well moving on you will use the third conditional to talk about the past okay but here you will describe a situation that didn't happen okay you didn't you are imagining okay you are imagining the possible result of the situation that did not happen haha that's crazy right so it's used to describe a situation that didn't happen in the past and a possible result of that situation or you can also describe something that happened in the past but you are imagining a different result okay but at the end of the day it's in the past it's over you cannot change it okay so here I have the the the examples for you if I had gone to bed earlier let 9 so last night yesterday okay last night I did not go to bed early I went to bed late now I am tired this morning I'm tired I'm feeling I'm feeling bad I'm please lubu so now I mean I'm thinking Oh Priscilla dammit if I had gone to bed earlier last night what would be the possible result the imaginary that that's not real okay in the past I wouldn't have missed the alarm this morning so what is the product possible that the result I missed the alarm I didn't hear the alarm okay I didn't I was sleeping so I didn't hear so when I wake up and I see that I missed the alarm I was like oh my god I can't believe it I missed the alarm so then I start thinking oh no if I had gone to bed earlier last night hmm I would not have missed the alarm probably I would have listened to the alarm so here I'm talking about an unreal situation in the past this didn't happen I did not go to bed early this was not what happened what happened was that I went to bed late and consequently the next day I woke up late I missed the alarm but now imagining a different scenario in my past oh if I had gone to bed earlier I would not have missed the alarm okay so I didn't sleep early I missed the alarm and here again you have the same possibility you can invert the position you can start with the result Clause oh man I wouldn't have missed the alarm if I had gone to bed earlier so you can invert it's possible to do that okay now here another example I'm sorry Peter I didn't see when you passed me in the street when you pass by me in the street so here I have a condition clause if I had seen you of course I would have said hello now let's put this into context I'm walking down the street then my friend Peter Priscilla Priscilla nothing then my fairy friend Peter texted me yo Priscilla why didn't you say hello why didn't you stop you know I didn't just say anything and then I explained Oh Peter I'm so sorry I didn't see when you passed me in the street now imagining the past a different best but my friend if I had seen you of course I would have said hello duh I didn't see Peter and consequently I did not say hello now I'm talking to Peter I am explaining I am imagining I am imagining a different scenario a different result so that's the idea here and it's always in the past it's something that happened in the past and now I am analyzing the past event and trying to think of other results but we cannot change the past okay so this is a very common sentence in English of a very very common tense in English now here if he had paid attention where he was going he wouldn't have fallen down so I maybe I'm talking I saw someone in the street someone was walking and then the person roof fell down and this person was checking his phone hmm I look at the person and then I say well he was looking at his phone if he he had paid attention where he was going he wouldn't have fallen down but he was too busy checking his phone and he didn't see and didn't see okay it's missing a the verb etre sees missing and did see the trash bin okay so he probably tripped over the the trash bin and fell down all right that's horrible I have seen some Mimi's on Facebook and YouTube where people actually do this it's so sad but so funny at the same time stop looking at your phone friends if you're walking down the street don't walk and check your phone that's dangerous so if the person had paid attention where he was going he wouldn't have fallen down he would have seen the trash bin and he would have dodged the way but he didn't end oh well he fell down and he probably became a meanie and people will never forget guys I'm just putting this into context so that you can better understand how to use this it's always connected to the past always connected to something of your past that you are imagining differently okay so let's see if I hadn't gone to the if I hadn't lived in Boston okay I lived in Boston for two years okay if I had not if I had not lived in Boston I would not have studied at Harvard but I lived in Boston so haha I went to Harvard and I studied there for six months okay but imagining a different reality imagining that I lived in New York or in Florida you know if I had lived in a different city I wouldn't have gone to Harvard I wouldn't have gotten the certificates from Harvard I wouldn't have made the friends I made so that's the idea I'm always focusing on the best thing something that happens to you or did not happen and I am imagining a possible result well not possible because it's not gonna happen but imagining an unrealistic result for that situation so if I had not lived in Boston I wouldn't have gone to Harvard I wouldn't have studied at Harvard if you're curious I studied at Harvard I did a professional communication at Harvard and business communication at Harvard I also did project management not Harvard in Boston I also studied American history another pronunciation course so it was a very good time I had in Boston for two years so I learned a lot I studied a lot it was great because I lived in Boston if I had lived in another city I would have done different things okay excellent my friends I gotta go but I have a question for you your homework as usual your first homework is to hit the like button uh-huh when you hit the like button you help the channel grow you helped me understand what lessons you enjoyed the most I know I say this every day but it's important for me to remind you because by hitting the like button I can understand what lessons you enjoy so that I can create more lessons like these ones okay oh good so here my question I will post the question in the comment section then you can come back and reply and participate what would have happened if you had started to study English since you were a baby huh probably you did not start when you were a baby unless you were a native speaker watching this video by the way thanks but unless you're not a lesser unaided speaker or you had bilingual parents that's not your case okay that was not my case unfortunately maybe when I have babies I would do that I would test my babies and I would teach them English just English in the house uh-huh yeah so what would have happened if you had started to study English since you were a baby that didn't happen okay that's not gonna change that's past if you had started you would have been fluent by the age of two years old he would have been a fluent speaker by - that's you know if I had started studying when I was a baby I would have been fluent by the aid of Chu I would have had more time with the language what would have happened if you had started studying when you were a baby since when you were a baby okay so that's what I want you to do tonight that's what I want you to do this week so make sure to participate I see lots of comments and I always read them in the replay because then I can see if there are questions and things that I can use to make more videos well my friends that's all for tonight thank you so much and I will see you tomorrow for another lesson bye
