here we go then England again uh they only managed of course a one-1 draw against Denmark they were shocking they're still top of the group they should be still fine to advance let's take a look at how the UK newspapers sleeping Lions Harry Kane uh tame old story labored and conservative just some of the derogatory headlines that we saw throughout inuk talking about uh there is some talk and I don't it's not going to happen but there is even people pushing to say listen I I think I'd rather have a different option than Harry Kane I think we say G Southgate for a moment I we're g go over Coast I think there's a lot of people uh saying that but you know there are there are there are players before we go to a waiting hopefully he's got a good internet connection who the hell knows uh there are several players that would be big big name players superstars in that team who after two games you could say you know what I could leave him out and I could leave him out and I could leave him out but I I one I don't think he's going to do it because I don't always think it' be the right thing to do but two I don't think uh GIS southgate's the gumption to actually make those decisions uh as Craig mentioned Mark Ogden is with a bit of a floating Head Mark today out in Germany uh Mark overall what has struck you in particular from the way uh the media have reacted to what we saw against Denmark well it's been negative but I think it's been Fair because the performance was terrible and I think there's been one or two excuses being leveled around the situation whereby the roof was close it was hot you know it's a bit hotter than people expected the gr yesterday the the the pit which wasn't very good but ultimately as Craig said that the big players I mean I think Kane Bellingham Alexander arand and folden they're the big four that didn't perform haven't performed and I think I think at least two have to be dropped and I don't think he'll drop Kane I don't think he'll drop Bellingham but Kane is a concern because Kane is struggling fitness-wise Seth gets it after the game that he took him off because he's not had a lot of time recently he's not had a full 90 minutes for the last six weeks because he had a back injury going to the tournament but you know there's one or two stories coming tonight about just talking about Kane's pressing and how his pressing isn't as intense as it should be most players press more intensely with the last couple of Paces he tends to tone it down a bit so there's quite a bit of detailing that's doing the rounds tonight so you do wonder whether things been put out there just to kind of paint the picture of what they need more from Harry Kane you can't drop Harry Kane he's the leading goal scorer but I think you have to find a way to make him more effective and put more Pace into the team but first of all I think he's got to take F the side bring Anthony Jord him maybe and just got to Lance to boil with Alexander arold because it's not working you've got to right about playing in a position that he's not used to you've got Jude Bingham is a midfielder but he's not tracking back so you've got Dean rice that's basically Manning the ship on his own so they're going to get overrun by a really good team and Slovenia aren't a really good team but they're technically enough to give England problems on on Tuesday so yeah big problems ahead and I think southg as Craig said I don't think he's got the the courage to actually make the biggest calls possible I think he's going to fudge it f was the foden was the best player in the Premier League this season why is why is he the full guy why is foden the one that has to be cut why does he have to who he had to be Mark suggested that that he could be the one first and foremost he's playing in a position or he's starting off in a position that he really doesn't do for his club right on the left hand side he either starts on the right or he starts at a 10 or a false nine for man city right and that's why we've seen the best of them uh we haven't seen the best of Bellingham D was telling me rice got a two out of 10 in one of the English newspapers was a bit harsh but he didn't play well these are all players that were brilliant last season to go back to Mark's point about Harry Kane he has looked off the pace but but England shouldn't need to press well no every now and again you need to press but they shouldn't they shouldn't need to press for 90 minutes against Serbia and Denmark do you know why because they should dominate possession against these weaker International Teams they should have the ball they should be throttling them they should be pinning Denmark back and then they should be releasing their fullback the center half should be stepping out with the ball and they should be trying to break them down that's not been the case England have been a team that his games have W on they have sat deep they have sat deep and that that's got nothing to do with a striker not pressing that's got everything to do with giving up territory and not dominating weak there's no excuse for me not to dominate weaker opposition you can go into any game right be an FA Cup be a knockout t be champions league and you can play a weaker team but you can dominate them and you can have a bad day at the office in the final third and they defend well the keeper plays great you're sloppy with your your decision making but you dominate the game and you put them under pressure England have not done that against weaker opposition see when you simplify it right and if you go sou gate and you look at the individuals that you've got I think England are crying out for a system 442 he won't play it because it sounds a bit dinosaur but when you look at the players and individual why why wouldn't you steal a copy of what Guardiola is doing so the best right side in English football last season was kyl Walker and Phil foden there's your first two relationships on a bit of paper foden Walker other side trippier Gordon both play together at Newcastle there's there's your relationship straight away but go to a 442 you've got Bellingham who play off Harry Kane ideal one who can run him behind one who's super fit one who's very clever in Hurricane when he comes Short play Adam Warton who's a left footed Midfield player on the left so when you look at England on paper and you go dropp in sacka or play sacka but I would say but you just talked about your Rel exact exactly that but what I'm saying is when you look at England's balance and you go Kieran trip left back and you go into Midfield two right footed players why wouldn't you play Warton on the left of two alongside Dean rice he adds balance he's a lefty so all of a sudden you got Kieran trippier you've got Adam Warton who's a lefty in Midfield you got Anthony Gordon who wants to run but my my My worry is that I think southgate's a little bit afraid when he looks at the individuals that he's got they are crying out to be a 442 side but everyone around the world oh no we've got to play 4231 or we got to do what Spain does and play 433 that's not what England should be doing they should be aggressive when when Southgate gets to the big knockout game and they'll beat Slovenia they'll certainly get a result but they'll probably beat them uh to go back to that sort of analysis if he thinks Phil foron is going to be the best for England off the right hand side coming in on that left foot and drifting and letting Walker go down the outside as they do as Don rightly said at Man City then he's got to say to yourself okay it's one or the other it's F or sacka and who's the better player and the better player for me and I think sacka is a terrific player but I think fen's a better player that's a big that's big decision making yeah and then he has to figure out the rest at the moment right let's be honest about it at the moment he's Shing two or three players in Trent Alexander been one of them but he's Shing them in well I want to play Phil Fon because I don't play Phil Fon because Saka plays on the right if I don't play Fon they'll kill me in the Press because Fon was absolutely brilliant but so was Saka for Arsenal so I'm going to have to I don't want to upset anybody he's going to get smashed Gary Southgate so he's got some big DEC nobody has played well enough in that England team that they could complain if he said to them you're not playing today so what it's International Football it's a it's European championships you haven't done enough for me you're not playing today come off the bench if I need you prove to me I was wrong to drop you that's what he's going to have to do everyone was intrigued as to what GTH Southgate was going to say after that draw against Denmar I don't think many would have thought that Calvin Phillips would have be the reason that England performed so badly Mark what's he do he said basically we haven't filled the void left by Calvin Phillips who by the way he chose not to play and a player who couldn't even get into West Ham starting 11 yeah he did make the point afterwards that Phillips wasn't able to pick because he wasn't playing for West Ham so the point he was making was that he felt that Calvin Phillips and Dean rice were a perfect combination the last year and that that kind of that double out hasn't really been there for the last 12 months because Calvin Phillips hasn't played for for Man City and then he didn't really play for West Ham so I think the point was making was he hasn't got a player that replicates what what Calvin Phillips did but and with Don I think you bringing Adam won to the picture and just you give more balance but there there's an alterate a solution with with sacka because when sacka broke into the England team he played him as a left wing back because he didn't have a left-sided Defender well he's not got one at the moment because Luke sha isn't fit so you could actually put sacker on the left and put foden on the right and then deal with it that way but I just don't know what he wants to do I don't think he knows and there's a really strange kind of almost like it was asked a couple of times after after the game other players dealing with the pressure playing for England and it it hinted that he weren't he said things like that we've got to get used to the challenge we face I have to walk towards the challenge we have to walk towards the challenge it was almost like like he's reading from a a kind of a motivation manual and I'm not sure if you're an England player the message that he's giving out right now is what you want to hear he seems it's a little bit down beat there there's something that's lacking there he's not a motivator and I think you want some you want some positivity you want some kind of you know you want a belief in the manag S get for me right now just sounds like a guy that doesn't know what he wants to do isn't really happy doing what he's doing he doesn't look like he's enjoying the job and it reflects in the players it looks kind of a bit of a miserable camp at the moment I can't imagine how many people in the England 11 are really verbal they look like a quiet team Bellingham we know is definitely verbal Harry Kane has got to be verbal a leader no I don't think he is no I think that's unfair isn't it I think we' no verbal I think he's a leader by example I don't think like you watched the game the other day I think you watch him in the spur you watching even for B where where's he shouting at his players and dragging them further up the pitch I look at the England team seriously and I think how many leaders are out there they lead because they play well but verbally who's given instructions Craig me if me and Craig played together and we were getting roasted for 10 15 minutes he would say to me right stop running forward stand next to me for 5 minutes just before half time don't move right and then I might drag a right I might get you Dan and go right stop bombing on there Dan come in here for five minutes that's always my problem I know come in here for five minutes so verbally you can affect the game of football by the most basic thing that's talking with each other I look at this England team and they're very very talented I don't know where the communication is Tripp yeah you've got a lot of there's not many though I think we've already named four yeah but just because no one second I didn't agree with but one second I've known a lot of experienced players that have played 3 and 400 games for their clubs and and 40 50 games for their country and wouldn't say booty a goose it some people are not like that but one thing I've noticed in particular with Jude Bellingham who is a superstar is he's getting frustrated he's get he's getting frustrated with the quality of England's play he's getting frustrated at any runs he's making and uh he's not seeing the ball he obviously got a great goal in The Opening match when he bust in with a perfectly timed run and that's kind of been it he spent a lot of games he spent a lot of games in what should be a good England side track him back track him back into fullback areas and and that's fine you know midfielders have to do that we talked about Connor gallager against teams like that we talked about Conor Gallagher you know what he's going to do he's going to run around as fast as he can he's going to get booked the last 20 minutes he had to pull out three tackles cuz he couldn't make a tackle and how Cole is sitting on that bench who's a Maverick right could just he would sack off positions if G get time to do something just because he's a Maverick he can't do it that's what England needs if you're going to take Kobe Mino and Adam wton to a major championship and that's a big call for for kids kids youngsters going in with very little experience we've seen these scenarios but if you're going to take them and you're and and you're doubting yourself about using them you might as well have taking Phillips and Jordan Henderson as bad as Phillips has been and Henderson's playing in Holland now if if you've got a doubt in your mind about putting them in right don't take them don't take them what it's pointless it's not friendly and the other night was super safe Gallagher was the same substitution he made against Serbia and it was super safe a guy comes well I say it's super safe he's a loose cannon so it's not but he's going to come in he's got a bit of experience he'll run around and make a tackle rather than bringing in I would have said won over Mino because he's a he's he's he's technically got a lovely left foot but he didn't do it and if he doesn't use these youngsters and they're not playing better and they go out of this tournament you have to ask yourself the question what the hell was the point bringing them if you're frightened to use them see normally like normally in tournament football you can say a to risk playing young footballers it is a risk this Euros has proved youth is the way forward yal 16 FL inverts all the most exciting players that we've watched so far are young so if you going to if you if if it is your last tournament football if you South Gate put Warton in take a chance on Co Palmer play some youth
