hello aviators my name's Kyle with dylon avionics today we're gonna be going over the sky beam engine monitoring system the sky view engine monitoring system or EMS is a very powerful addition to any sky view installation the ms2 20 module enables all kinds of sensors and pros to be monitored as well as a broad assortment of other aircraft systems and functions the system is easily configured for all of the standard engine gauges like rpm manifold pressure oil temperature and pressure fuel voltage and amperage are easily monitored as well as individual cylinder head and exhaust gas temperatures for up to nine cylinders the system provides an assortment of maintenance timers and reminders as well as both hobbs and tach time it automatically records engine trip time and you can configure oil change mag check prop hundred-hour or annual reminders as well all these taking mental load off of the pilot and owner there are several general-purpose inputs that can be used to monitor additional aircraft functions like pitot heat fuel tank levels and flow transducers flap and trim position indicators as well many folks configure things like micro switches for canopy or cargo door open close verification and you can create your own sensor definitions for completely custom applications retractable landing gear positions can also be displayed through the EMS there are several programmable warnings such as gear over speed or warning if it looks like you're on final with the gear still other gear indications can also be configured for amphibious aircraft and display the configuration as either land or water fuel tank level indications can be taken from any traditional resistive float see IAS or even capacitance type tank level Center unlike traditional tank level gauges sky view averages the signal over a period of time this delivers a smooth clean indication whether you're in a long turn or getting bounced around in turbulence in addition to accurately measured fuel onboard skive you can also use a fuel flow transducer to enable a full-featured fuel computer based on consumption there are a number of useful calculations for the pilot including fuel used and remaining efficiency and range an estimated fuel remaining at a future waypoint tank switching reminders can also be configured in addition to these capabilities Skyview can also help you get the most out of your available fuel with a lean assist feature having these tools in the cockpit helps take mental load off of the pilot and can play a critical role in good aeronautical decision-making on any sky V display you have 3 screen size options for the EMS info it can easily be changed on the fly so the pilot has the information needed at hand anyone display can have the engine on a full or 1/2 screen size as well as a smaller view that uses 20% of the screen on Sky View SC and classic displays the 20% engine page is a vertical strip that can be positioned in a number of places where I was on the HDX the 20% page is a horizontal band across the bottom one of the really useful features of Sky View zms is the total and complete configurability of all three EMS pages each gage which we call a widget can be moved around the screen and there are a number of different styles shapes and sizes for all indications you can have concentric or mirrored arcs horizontal or vertical sliders and colored light or numeric indications as well you also have full control over the color ranges for each widget you can define up to five ranges for any one gage and you are able to set and scale the color code for each one the color of the range is part of what triggers to EMSL ours which are both visual on the screen and audible in the headset you can define each alarm to be either latching where you have to acknowledge the alert or self clearing this is a really great feature because the system will get your attention if a problem starts to arise even if you aren't actively monitoring the gages the ems module will like most other stager components is connected via the Sky View Network and is typically mounted behind the panel on the cabin side of the firewall the module itself has two large plugs 125 pin for all the egt and CHT thermocouples and a 37 pin for all the primary sensors and general-purpose inputs we offer pre-made harnesses as well as sensor and probe packages for the most common engine types including by calming continental superior Rotax and gentlemen thanks for watching and we'll catch you on the next one
