says we here we are live just two seconds to double-check okay welcome and today we're gonna be talking about end of the world predictions and how you can avoid them or at least avoid being duped by them because they these guys will not stop it's never gonna stop you're gonna get another into the world prediction as soon as this next one fails so I'll say this it's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine and I'd like to tell you why because of the endless endless stream of predictions and when I say endless I mean from the time of Jesus until now endless not just in the last few years so here's what I'm gonna do um I I don't want to just ride the wave of the excitement of the most recent prediction supposedly in a few days Monday April 23rd we're gonna have a big cataclysmic event and the rapture is gonna happen and a big plan it's gonna blah blah blah I'll get into that in a minute but what I thought was what if I did like an anatomy and for a video here an anatomy or a discussion a dissecting of why these guys keep getting it wrong why these end of the world predictions are things that Christians should immediately know to avoid and here's what we're gonna do we'll do this in three steps first we'll look at some of these into the world predictions two guys in particular we're gonna look at a guy named David Mead who predicts the end of the world in a few days I got named Harold Camping who predicted this stuff multiple times and they both do it they say from a biblical perspective and from a Christian worldview then we're gonna analyze number two analyze the way they use the Bible this is what nobody ever does right they go wins the date but let's actually thoughtfully look at how they use scripture to try to justify their end of the world claims because it's an abuse and a twisting of the Bible in all honesty and then number three this is my favorite part here we're gonna identify seven reasons why people fall for this stuff and how you can protect yourself from falling for it seven reasons seven ways you can keep yourself red flags that should go off in your head to keep you from falling for this end-of-the-world nonsense so i'm mike winger and this is the tuesday livestream we do just about every tuesday here at 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time and we talk about issues of theology and apologetic sometimes answering skeptics questions sometimes delving into sort of difficult theological issues always trying to be gracious but being thoughtful and reasonable and Biblical at least that's my goal in my understanding of things I could be wrong about something but uh but that's the thing I don't want you just say well mike said it so I'm gonna believe it rather I'm presenting this material for you to think about for you to consider for you to have your own Bible open and your own mind aware so here we go let's get into this I don't know if you guys have heard about this guy but you've probably heard about Planet X or maybe you've heard whispers of Nibiru or Nibiru however he pronounces it this supposed planet that is hurtling on its way towards Earth as we speak and the I'm sorry to say this I've already looked into this guy right so I it's I'm gonna unload content for you in a second but I can't help but giggle a little bit after having read his book or at least parts of the book and heard the content but basically this guy David Mead mea de David Mead he says that the rapture is coming and that the end is coming in just a few days on Monday April 23rd that's this coming Monday now the the way he gets into this stuff is very convoluted because like a lot of these end of the world prediction people they don't just say here's what the Bible says and therefore it's gonna happen what they do and you hear we're doing is we're analyzing these guys right we're trying to understand where they're coming from is they often will mix the Bible with with geopolitical stuff with nations and and all sorts of you know different different things that are going on politically in the world they'll also mix it with science and like geology and volcanic things and earthquakes then they'll mix it with you know physics and outer space stuff astrophysics and things like that astronomy and then they'll mix it with like numerology and they have like so a numeral numerological aspect to what's going on and they'll mix it with like ancient languages Greek hidden meanings in Greek and in Hebrew and and then they'll mix it with Bible codes and and you know crazy you know computer programs that find codes in the Bible and because they mix it with so many different things it's really hard to track with them and follow their argument David Meade is a guy who does this he mixes a lot of different sort of disciplines but from my casual reading but being a non-professional in those things my casual reading of David Meade's material I got his Kindle book recently to check it out it sounds like he doesn't really in all honesty know much of what he's talking about he's just sort of cherry-picking little bits of information but I imagine if a professional in that field were to be referenced then they would probably not support what he's what he's saying so he has actually done this before David Meade has predicted the end of the world in 2017 he said it was absolutely going to happen it had to happen because the Bible's God's Word so it has to happen that's something these guys do a lot they they anchor their end of the world predictions into the Bible to say that you know the Bible's if the Bible is true then my prediction is true even though they're really several steps away from the Bible by the time they're predicting the end of the world so he was the author of a book called Planet X the 2017 arrival and he just straight-up said this is gonna happen it's in 2017 and you're like oh wait might guess it's not even 2017 anymore he's predicting the end again and here's the first lesson I want you to learn about these guys generally speaking end of the world guys do two things they usually predict the end of the world within their own lifetime and two and it fails they usually predict it again in a short time after that it just seems like they can't shake themselves free from this need to try to predict the end so they'll predict the end of the world multiple times over and over again so David Mead predicted it in 2017 it didn't happen then now he says for sure it's gonna happen in 2018 on April 23rd and so what I did was I went online and I got his book and actually on Kindle where is my beautiful Kindle I love my Kindle I highly recommend getting a Kindle if you don't have one great for studying terrible for reference works but great for for reading other things and uh what he what he does in his book is he actually says here's the scripture and here's how it'll be fulfilled so what I'm gonna do right now is read to you my notes I took while reading David Meade's book the title of the book is will Planet X signal the rapture by David mean it's a very short read actually and as as we get into this we talk about his first use of Scripture you might want to turn in your Bible to Isaiah 24 verse 1 that's the first one I'll actually bring it up for you because I have found a way to do this oh yeah I'm excited about this because now I can show you my Logos Bible Software or law guys if you want to probably say it right and like actually show you what I'm looking at some of the time which is kind of cool so we're going here and does a Isaiah 24:1 this is David means first use of Scripture and as we get into this I want to remind you that if you're watching live you can write out your questions and put them in the comment section and my friend AJ is gonna be taking those questions pooling them together into like Oh a pool of questions he'll send them to me at the end of this stream I'll answer your questions but I want this stream to be of great use for people for years to come so I don't interrupt my presentation portion I put all those questions at the end so that people can get all the content they want and if they feel like sticking around for the Q&A they can so please put your questions in the comment section and I will I will get those but we do want to keep the comments section just like I do here a cordial and friendly environment and I appreciate that you guys okay so let me read to you Isaiah 24 one and then we'll talk about what he does with it in fact what I need to do is actually I really have to read to you from the the King James Version because that's what he does so Isaiah 24 one here's David means use of Scripture to predicting into the world it says behold the Lord maketh the earth empty and maketh it wastes and turneth it upside down and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof okay so this part right here this where does it turn if it upside down that's what David Meads gonna focus on turning the world upside down does God turn it upside down so here's a quote right out of his book David Mead says and I quote how is it turned upside down I believe the next North Pole will be in Siberia northwest of Lake Baikal Bikol this is this is where it's gonna be near the borders of Russia and Mongolia okay so David Meade his literally the first verse in the opening pages of the book is Isaiah 24 1 and he goes turning the world upside down this reference is a moving of the North Pole many miles but where is it it's still in the northern hemisphere it's not upside down but there's a few problems with this for one he's ignoring making the earth empty I mean if you're gonna take that as a global per you know view of things he's gonna like God's gonna empty that what does that mean you know I really the earth is empty it's made waste it's turned upside down the inhabitants are scattered these are somewhat poetic terms but they're not speaking of I think a polar shift at least especially a polar shift of a few hundred miles especially that wouldn't be the case now there's I think the reason why he uses the King James Version because it uses that phrase to turn upside down but here's the new King James it says behold the Lord makes the earth empty and makes it waste and then the phrase translated turn it upside down in the King James is translated here distorts its surface distorts its surface here it is in the ESV behold lore will into the earth and make it desolate and he will twist its surface that right there twist its surface that's the part the King James translate to make it up turn it upside down then in the NASB it's translated distorts its surface right in the NIV he will ruin its face so why does the the King James translate this as turn upside down and is that like a literal translation and the answer is no it's not it's it's an English idiom he's gonna you know turn you upside down but in the Hebrew it's basically saying he will pervert its face and so the face or the surface of the earth will be will be somehow wrecked you know they'll be cataclysmic things happening on the earth at the time so his very first use of Scripture is to take a verse and I in Isaiah which is talking about the day of the Lord or the day of judgment future judgment and he ignores making the earth empty he ignores scattering abroad the inhabitants of the earth and he focus focuses on a clumsy maybe I guess a an English idiomatic translation of a Hebrew phrase that just means he's gonna mess up the face of the earth and he says that that messing up the face of the earth is moving the North Pole this already is giving you a good example of what we often see when we see guys delving into trying to predict the future looking at the text of Scripture it's very difficult to do you know studying prophecy future prophecy is is a very difficult and hard like subject future prophecy unfulfilled fulfilled prophecy is much easier because you have the bookends you know you've got the prophecy and the fulfillment but what is yet to come is a lot more challenging so so he just does this though he takes one idea hijacks it out of the text takes it to mean something that obviously the readers didn't think that was talking about magnetic north like that's not there's not something that was on their mind that's for sure so let's look at his second use of scripture and I will quote his book now but before I get into it I gotta explain something to you to understand what David Mead is saying about this April 23rd date you have to understand he ties this together with something called Planet X or Nibiru which is basically the undiscovered planet that's supposedly orbits the Sun ever you know I don't know if it's thousands of years apart some crazy number of years apart for every orbit around the Sun and that this planet is coming to you know a near pass almost collision with earth and when this happens it's gonna trigger all these different events that we read about in the Bible so here here we get into the conspiracy theory stuff David Mead is a conspiracy theorist I I'm just gonna be totally honest with you guys I when I find out people are into conspiracies I I'm just speaking personally here okay I'm not I'm not saying this is every Bible believer asked to have this position but my personal position is this when I hear people start talking about conspiracies like little honest conspiracies I tend to lose a little bit of respect for those individuals in the nineties as a human but in their ability to reason and think things through because that's my own experience in life of following and tracking down some of these conspiracy theorists and then and then checking their claims fact-checking their claims and then realising how embarassing some of it was they don't ever fact check themselves they just say it and you're kind of part of this sort of conspiratorial like like head-nodding crowd right they all nod their heads whenever they go oh yes Illuminati okay we just nod our heads I'm not saying there's nothing to those things but I'm saying it's not what people seem to be making it out to be in my opinion but he is a conspiracy theorist and so it's easy for him to say yeah numbers are hiding from you you know the existence of this other planet they just don't want to admit it but this guy David Mead he knows about it NASA knows about it different people know about it but they won't tell you I mean obviously that's not true so but but here's what gets crazy cuz here's here's now moving into the Bible let's talk about scripture now right he says that this planet is predicted in the Bible that there's another planet out there in the sky and the Bible talks about it in Revelation chapter 6 so this is this is actually the passage in fact I'll quote his book David Mead says if you want absolute proof absolute proof of the existence of Planet X aka Nibiru or the destroyer here it is from the book of Revelation chapter 6 okay wow he literally is gonna quote Revelation as proof that this planet exists now don't lose sight of what I'm doing here i'm not interested in mocking david me what i want to do is help you to develop that skill set to see through the tricks people try to play on you when they make these false predictions about the end so revelation 6 verse 12 and and don't get me wrong i think this is all going to happen I just think David Medes hijacking the Bible twisting its meaning and adding a dose of conspiracy into a twisted false prophecy so what it really says here and this is so clear absolute proof it says and I'll do I'll just do the New King James Version kind of a neutral version for a lot of people I looked when he opened the sixth seal so with the sixth seal in the progression of seven seals in Revelation so we're quite a ways through and behold there was a great earthquake and the Sun became black as sackcloth of hair and the moon became like blood and the stars of heaven fell to the earth as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind then the sky receded as a scroll he's gonna focus on this a lot the sky risky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up and every mountain and island was new out of its place so some sort of seismic activity and the kings of the earth the great men the rich men the commanders the mighty men every slave in every free man hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains this to him is absolute proof that there's another planet up in the sky so if you're like me you're going I don't I've studied I've thoughtfully carefully studied through revelation I don't see do you see it where in here is as it say there's a planet up in the sky I mean there's there's something here about stars of heaven fell to the earth I mean biblically anything any light above us was called a star right so whether it was a a an asteroid or a meteor or or a star they were all called stars everything above a planet was all called stars so you know there's things falling from the sky like a meteor shower of some kind there's the sky receding as a scroll so what is what does David Mead do with this concept he says that this sixth seal is an obvious description of a planet crashing into the earth as in it's the only explanation a planet is is coming or I should say coming near the earth I don't know if he would say it crashes into it but it comes near it inverse is he continues in his book not first in his book he writes this and I quote David Mead says think on these matters a great earthquake the Sun darkened the moon changed to the color of blood and stars falling the atmosphere splits open and he says that a couple times he says the atmosphere splits open that's his his understanding of revelation 6 does it say that no the atmosphere splits open with every year while every mountain is moved that's when the underground bunkers prepared for the elite are operational that's what that's what he says only a Planet X passage could split open the atmosphere and make the sky depart as a scroll and create this phenomenon phenomena via its physical interactions with the earth it could cause a worldwide earthquake moving every mountain in island via a pole shift therefore to me the description of seal 6 in the Bible is the single greatest proof of Planet X and that's kind of all I need to show you really isn't it he says look here I'm leaving on the screen so you can just keep looking at it but there versus that's proof that there's Planet X now receipt is a scroll does that mean atmosphere split open no it doesn't it could it could be fulfilled in a number of different ways it's obvious symbolic receipt as a scroll like is rolled up like it's gonna be taken away well the Sun is dark in the moon is is turned to blood there's obviously atmospheric something's blocking vision of of the sky so this could be ash clouds could be the atmosphere receding as a scroll I mean I'm just saying there could be multiple ways this could be fulfilled and he says no no this is definitely Planet X now that's me not being knowing enough about you know physics to be able to tell you what happens if a planet comes near the earth I can imagine we would all be dead I'm pretty sure but uh but yeah that that's that's his interpretation of it now in other places David Mead goes on to talk about the cryptogram of Revelation and in his in his book the one I mentioned earlier the the title of it was let me read it to you because you may want to go get it on Kindle will Planet X signal the rapture and I got this particular book as it focuses on the on the biblical concept of a rapture and which I believe is a biblical concept we will be caught up now the timing of it and everything is certainly something people debate not something I want to make a point of today but he says in his book at the end of that book he's going to do the talk about the cryptogram of Revelation and at the very last chapter of the book is all about tying together all these different biblical concepts and so I went ahead and got to that last chapter and it was like two pages two pages of just rambling and non sequiturs and verses out of context and it was just disconnected ramblings with no validity it's like I didn't even know how to respond to it to put it in front of you would've just been kind of a waste of time and that just shows you that that these guys that often predict the end another thing that David me does he gets really into is the the use of generation the phrase generation and people think that the founding of Israel in 1948 was like the the trigger of a time countdown a lot of people think this I think that this is wrong I think that's a misunderstanding of Jesus's words and that we shouldn't be counting down from the beginning of Israel as a nation or trying to get to a date from that I think that's unwise but he talks a lot about that generation thing and so he's like oh well when Zion has first went to Israel it was 120 years ago and when and that's one generation term in the Bible then there's a 70 year generation a 40 year generation and he he basically gets target dates for all this but when you're looking back into history it's always easy to find a significant date to tie your number onto like you can you can always do this this is the problem with not having rules you just find a date pick I mean go Google your birth date online find something significant than happened that day and then count 40 from there to something else significant and you could you could write a book you know and the rapture is coming and planning what X is doing this thing it's just terrible terrible Bible study we should not be counting down from the establishment of Israel as a nation I don't believe that there's any scripture that says that and I'll talk more about that in a later livestream but but now I want to talk about another abuse of Scripture and this comes from the book of Genesis in Genesis it talks about the the flood right and it says follow me here it says that Noah entered the Ark on the seventeenth day of the second month the seventeenth day of the second month which is not our February seventeenth it's it's a different calendar system but seventh 17th day second month and here's what David me does with this he goes into that text and he says and I quote here's David mean what date did Noah enter the ark the 17th day of the second month or two - 17 or 2017 number magic why is this in the Bible unless God wanted to disclose it Jesus plainly said it would be as in the days of Noah oh my goodness like this is this is such terrible twisting of the scripture that I'm just glad he's not doing it on a doctrine related to salvation at least it's just about end times and there's no self if it consequences - twisting you know things here there's consequences don't get me wrong but at least not the gospel itself but his math says hey 17th day second month the fulfillment is in 2017 the rapture and judgment will happen this was last year right this is his last book he doesn't have a current book to explain why things are happening this year otherwise that would quote that one this is all to show you why David me got it wrong last time and why you don't need to listen to anything he says this time I'm the guy's obviously got serious problems he needs help he needs to get grounded he needs to stop being so gullible to his own delusional thinking and imaginations like you can't interpret the Bible through imaginations so you can just imagine things and make numbered leaps seventeenth day second month where does the Bible say that the day and month of no entering the ark is somehow a prediction of a future year based on a whole different calendar system I mean - Noah 2017 is in 2017 he didn't have our calendar system at all the Jewish calendar is on a whole different system as well they don't even call this 2017 it's a whole different year as far as that calendar goes which is again not even a biblical calendar which there just wasn't a unified year number back then at all so most importantly though there's just no there's nothing in the text of the scripture that says that we can predict Jesus is coming based on grabbing numbers out of the flood account like there's nowhere in the Bible that should even suggest this nor does the Bible use the Bible this way when the New Testament quotes the old does it ever use these numbers does it ever say you know when Abraham was this many years old and therefore this truth about Jesus that it never says this sort of thing so this is this is like an unauthorized use of Scripture in my opinion watch out for these things it's not clearly in the text okay so that's like three examples of Scripture just being radically abused like painfully tortured by by David Meade and he needs to repent because he's not only it's not his private opinion that he's wrong he's publicly proclaiming this stuff and then hanging the authority of Scripture upon his wacky interpretations and imaginations so he needs to repent of this and and if you've if you've been drawn towards his stuff you need to change the way you think about the Bible it's not a it's not a puzzle it's not a mystical puzzle to be solved it is it is it is communicating truth to us clearly and plainly and there are things that are unrevealed and there are things that are difficult but this sort of numerological blackery is not is not Bible study at all so so move away from it and get to just reading the text also there's another guy who I used to listen to maybe you guys remember a gentleman named Harold Camping Harold Camping was on something called family radio family radio was on many many radio stations around the world including AM radio when I was a teenager and I had my first car my first car was a 1966 Mustang that had no tape player it had no CD player it had no FM it only had AM radio that's all it had right it didn't have any lock breaks or air bags or any that either it was just like a deathtrap you know but it looked cool and I remember I spent a lot of hours in this car and on AM radio I'm looking for something Christian right just something uplifting I just wanted to hear maybe a Bible studies or something uplifting and the one radio program I was able to find was Harold Camping's radio program on family radio and I listened to too many hours of this guy and I remember being a young believer who did not know the word that well not very well at all to be to be totally honest and I heard him say stuff and I just thought I don't know if that's true but he knows so much he's so knowledgeable you know so I don't want to disagree with him at least and I would just listen to him and listen to him I remember though when he when he first kind of lost me he lost me as a listener when he did a couple things one is he said that nobody was saved in the 1980s now I'm not gonna get into why he said it it was just a weird thing he said but he said that in that whole decade and including some years before and after that like the 70s to 94 nobody got saved on earth nobody was saved and I was like well I was like like that's what I got saved was in that time period and and also it just seems crazy to think that God just stopped saving people for all those years but also he made another statement that I thought was very odd jumped out to me which was that that true believers agree on all doctrine that if you're a genuine believer you have the same doctrine in every area as every other believer and I heard that and I thought man I don't know all that much but I know enough to know this that's not even that's not true if that's the case there's only one true believer in the world and I hope I'm him you know cuz we don't agree on everything you don't agree with me on everything and that's fine or maybe you you do or you think you do because you don't heard me talk about enough stuff but but that's fine that's fine man you can disagree with me on stuff we believe there's a difference between essentials and non essentials and and there's a debate over what's essential of course but and that's important to discuss and debate but but there's no way that all true believers agree on every doctrine but this is something Harold Camping said so it wasn't long after that I quit listening to his stuff what I didn't know was that he had made some other statements that were kind of nutty out there as well and he was about to do a worldwide and I mean a prediction of the end of the world but this prediction would go out worldwide and it would affect a lot of people and impact a lot of lives and I didn't realize this was going to happen a few years later so Harold Camping's first prediction of the end of the world was in 1994 he said the rapture is gonna happen the end of the world's gonna come in 1994 when it didn't come Harold Camping said oh it happened it was just spiritual so what happened in 1994 is God's Spirit left all the churches all the denominational churches have don't have God's Spirit and so he would he would always rail on denominations every denomination was an abomination to him I was it was like it was like old school Joseph Smith stuff you know and he says that the Holy Spirit had left all the denominations which is not true and is just offensively silly to say such a thing and it proves that you don't know anyone who are actually part of the nominations to think that the Holy Spirit has departed from them all then in 2011 this was the big prediction okay this is the prediction he said the end of the world's coming in 2011 and if you remember a few years ago you may have even seen the billboards because what happened was family radio and the in the influence he had they put out billboards all over the place they Seve donations and people were so convinced that the rapture was gonna happen that they sold their homes and this is tragic okay now I'm a believer I do believe that that these things will take place I'm a premillennial now you may not be that's fine but I'm the millennium is going to happen it's in a future time there's a Tribulation Period I believe at some point the church is raptured and and and so I'm here going look I'm your target audience into the world predictors and and and here's why I don't care what you say so that's what today's about so in 2011 he predicts the end of the world is gonna be May 21st 2011 they have people in their congregation we have a congregation but their radio following who sell their home because they figure we've got we don't need money they take their savings and they give it all the family radio and family radio spins all of it on a massive advertising campaign buying billboards in Bellflower California where I live LA County where I what I've my church or I serving my church I'm not the senior pastor there excuse me that Pastor Gary on still but when when we were just coming and going in Bellflower but to church him back I remember looking up and seeing one of their billboards this guy had a billboard that said May 21st the end is coming give your life to God you know and I thought oh dear should I talk to the youth about this because how my youth pastor and this was a bit of a concern I mean here's me my understanding of prophecy tells me I already know he's wrong because no one knows the day or the hour and that stands as a truth today just as it was when Jesus said it you don't know it you don't know the day or the hour or the month or the year for that matter but he predicted it now after it actually happened after this this thing went through and May 21st came and nothing happened he said that there was gonna be five months of judgment right but after it happened he basically went into hiding and Harold Camping was nowhere to be found for like two or three days and unlike the 23rd of May I think it was he came out and said you know what I was really down I was really confused I was understanding how could how could how could it have been wrong how could I've been wrong about this and he said but I wasn't wrong I wasn't wrong it was a spiritual event it really did happen and then he says he thought five months of judgment would come in October 21st would spell the very end of the world so Harold Camping tells his listeners and all his faithful followers that God loves the world too much to even do the five months of judgment there won't be five months of judgment there's just five months of waiting and then on October 21st that's when the actual end will come of course he lost a lot of followers at this point rightly so but whoever kept believing in him and his garbage interpretations of Scripture I'm sorry Harold Camping it he seems like a really nice respectable old man but as far as I'm concerned that just ends up being a way in which he got his wrong teaching into people's hearts and minds and he wasn't wrong on everything but he was wrong on some really important stuff there wasn't he so I'm just makes me sad we're accountable for what we teach and he couldn't see the forest through the trees well five months later October 21st comes nothing happens and Harold Camping finally comes out some time after that and he says I'm repenting I never should have predicted the end of the world and for that I have some respect for him for that he said I never should have predicted the end of the world that shouldn't have been said people wrote to us telling us no man knows the day or the hour we should have listened to those people and I respect that much at least everything else up until then is utter folly and ridiculousness and a blight on anything else that he did that was wonderful any gospel he preached that was true in the impact he had that was good this is like the fly in the ointment you know the a little little fly in the ointment right it spoils the whole thing and so a little folly to one who was known for wisdom the scripture says and that's what happened with Harold Camping so one of the things we can learn from this is that the hardest deception to see is our own when you have a deception in your mind you don't know it that's the nature of deception if you really consciously knew you were deceived you would be like well I don't want to be deceived most likely so the hardest deception to see is our own so stay humble enough to just say you know what I really need to be thoughtful and careful I really need to stay humble and not have like I've got it all figured out attitude on everything just be cautious and be careful as my encouragement to you now I want to show you though how he came about this because one thing I never knew was how did Harold Camping come up with these numbers like why did he say May 21st why'd he say October so let's look at his math according to Harold Camping he knew and this were we get into the numerology and symbolism stuff and this is why i I've kind of avoided a lot of numerology stuff I do believe that numbers have symbolic value in Scripture but I don't think you can take it to the place these guys take it and it's dangerous to do so so here's his math his math Harold Camping says that there's gonna be seven thousand years of history in the in the in the church so he's a young earth creationist and he believes that said 7,000 years ago the earth was created there 6,000 it was created and and we're entering into that that's 6,000 mark and on the dot on that 6,000 mark that's when it's gonna happen so he first mistake he thought he could calculate the actual date of creation from scripture which I don't think you can do but then he combined two passages to get this why 7,000 years why will there be a total including the Millennium a thousand year reign of Christ there'll be a seven thousand year like experience of creation how did he get this well he combined two passages so let's let's look at those passages it was Genesis 7 for and it was 2nd Peter 3:8 so we're gonna look at him in Genesis 7 for it says for after 7 more days I will cause it to rain on the earth and 40 days and rain 40 days and 40 nights and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I've made okay so first scripture to establish a 7,000 year history of the universe is God said 7 more days so the fact that God told Noah hey from from right now there's gonna be seven days and then the rain comes he says I interpret this to mean there are seven symbolic days in all of the universe now this this works for people that are in a numerology seven days all that's the number of completion oh yes well 770 creation seven days of creation oh but then each of these days now is a thousand years how does he get that well let's look at 2nd Peter 3:8 I'll just I'll just note first that Genesis 7 for says no such thing I mean he just says seven days like why aren't there 40 days of creation or what how about seven days of creation and seven thousand years forty thousand years of judgment since it rained for for forty days and forty nights you can just pick up numbers and do whatever you want with this stuff there's no rules so in second Peter 3:8 it says here you go I'll show it to you but beloved do not forget this one thing that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day pause get away from the scripture don't read any more because you might get the context right this is a formula clearly Peter met this to be a formula so we would look back in the Bible and say sometimes randomly with no justification the word day refers to a thousand years is that what Peter meant no that's not what Peter man let's actually look at the passage and I'm going to read all the way through verse eleven so you can get some context first off the context here is why is why is it waiting so long why is it taking so long for God to bring judgment to the earth and it says beloved do not forget this one thing that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day now that actually is referenced to a psalm it's probably will give us the reference here Psalm 90 verse four and that says for a thousand years in your sight or like yesterday when it's passed and like a watch in the night what way is it a day or is it a watch in the night well that's because it's not a formula it's just saying that to God he's so incredibly patient that a thousand years is just like a day it's like he can easily wait as long as it takes so don't try to measure things based on your lifespan which is exactly the problem people fall into predicting the end of the world they always think it's gonna happen in their life so the scripture goes on the Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some count slackness but is long-suffering toward us not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance then he goes on but the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise and the elements will melt with fervent heat both the earth and the works in it will be burned up therefore since all these things will be dissolved what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness the point of the passage is that you're not going to know when it comes God will take as long as he takes he's incredibly patient days like a thousand years so he'll take as long as it takes and when judgment comes it will come as a thief or unexpectedly that's the continual message about the coming and this the second coming in judgment it's an unexpected thing the difference between Christians in the world is the the Christians not that we know the day it's coming but we're ready when it comes whereas the world's not ready when it comes but to all of us it will be surprise there it is so that'd be the real meaning of second Peter it has nothing to do with Genesis has nothing to do with creating a formula of thousands of years people just get caught up in this stuff now David mean and Harold Camping those are two examples of guys that they propagate it like they're the originators of the false teaching about when Jesus is coming but a lot of other teachers they just get caught up in the fervor of it and I know examples of godly teachers who taught really greatly and and have the the gospel down a knew the Bible well who got caught up in one of these predictions or another and I would like to now explain why I think they get caught up in them and how you can avoid being caught up in them so here are seven reasons and then we'll take your questions after I gave you these seven reasons I very quickly run through them seven reasons why people fall for these false unbiblical unscriptural end-of-the-world predictions what we think we're the last generation we always think we're the last generation do you know that Martin Luther during the Reformation identified the Pope as the Antichrist part of the reasoning being that he thought they were gonna be that last generation do you know that this has happened over and over and over again do you guys know who the Antichrist is I mean isn't that assuming a lot like how would I know who the Antichrist is like how do I know it's what if Jesus comes back five hundred years from now you may maybe you don't like it it's not like you have to wait any longer like ah hey man I'm not being here for another 50 years but then I'm gonna go be with Jesus I hope I'm not here for 50 years that's kind of a really know if I want to live that long in this world in this body it's already started fall apart but but we always think we're the last generation but remember the language of Jesus how he seemed to predict there's going to be a long delay just to be ready to be ready in fact that that's what I'm gonna do next Tuesday I'm gonna get into a a topic of how long did Jesus say it would take for him to come back let's talk about the Second Coming right how long was it supposed to be what was the expectation Jesus gave us and how long the Apostles thought as well it was going to be between Jesus's ascension and his return so we'll talk about that next time in detail look at several verses including some parables and some cool stuff so number one we think we're the last generation you may be the last generation you might not so you need to be ready in case you're not which means that maybe you you believe the rapture could happen at any moment but you have no plan to help your kids with their college expenses or you have no plan for retirement cuz what's the point you you don't go to school because you're like why bother we're gonna be out of here every generation there's there's been people who thought like you and they ended up being wrong why are you right so this this was a real wake-up call to me cuz I was that young guy who was like should I even go to school like what's the point even like like will there even be time to get married before Jesus returns because I was in an environment of excitement about the second coming which is a good thing but a lack of biblical teaching and biblical clarity on the delay between the first and second coming so that's the first reason we think we're the last generation just like every generation does we assume it number two reason why people fall for false into the world prediction is because future prophecy is extremely challenging and can be very complicated in places and so the Bible is a big book and when you're looking at prophecy of not yet fulfilled things you this is why revelation is one of those difficult books to study is because revelation here has more references to the Old Testament than any other book in the Bible and so you have to be familiar with not just revelation but Genesis Exodus Leviticus I especially like the prophets Isaiah Jeremiah Ezekiel in a second right you got it you got to know these all these things to tie it all together in a thoughtful way and it's very challenging and so because it's challenging you know the harder a subject is the more we just lean on somebody else and we ask them just tell me what it means because I'm having a hard time with it my thought is this for us as Christians it's better to just not know how future prophecy will be fulfilled than it is to just lean on somebody and and take their advice on life-changing and difficult topics and subjects because the truth is that frequently future prophecy isn't really understood until after the fact not always not always at all but there are many times so future prophecies very challenging that's the second reason why I think people fall for these fake into the world predictions the third reason is we allow people to break all the rules when they interpret prophecy right like when Jesus says take up a cross and follow me I I feel like I have to interpret that like thoughtfully okay what's the cross in context the crosses well it's how he achieved salvation he was a self sacrificial act of love it was dying to self it was all okay so I'm gonna take up my cross I'm gonna I'm gonna be identified with Christ and I'm gonna follow him with my life I'm gonna be dying to myself and my desires in this world and but but when it comes to prophecy like all of a sudden I don't need to be thoughtful anymore all of a sudden with prophecy I can just use numerology and vagaries and I can take God's tells tells Noah seven days and then I'll cause it to rain and I go see there's 7,000 years of creation what like that's not interpretation this is called eisegesis or basically reading your meaning into the text instead of getting out of the text what it says so number three people break the rules when they interpret prophecy and we let them for some odd reason so don't do this if you don't understand it the least you can do is say I don't know how you got that meaning out of that passage so I'm just gonna leave it be you know I'm not gonna adopt that as my view and then number four the fourth reason that we fall for fake end time prophecies is because we see fulfillment fulfillment I put an air quotes everywhere everywhere is fulfillment oh there's wars like so much I was going to war oh there's an earthquake over here oh this just happened in Israel like something happens in Israel every day you know and oh you know the Prime Minister said this or the president signed this document and we see everything as fulfillment of Scripture but in a generalistic way right you're not going this verse has been fulfilled just now with this event it's just a general feeling of fulfillment and that's the danger I once got on my phone an earthquake app you ever done one of those I get an earthquake app and it tells you like whenever there's earthquakes around the world and I got this app and I was just curious I was like so I download it and all of a sudden there are a ton of earthquakes everywhere and I thought man earthquakes really are increasing recently do you think they really were or was my awareness of them increasing and the truth is we live in times where our awareness of geopolitical or catastrophic events or you know whether it's weather events things like that our awareness is bigger than ever before I can just like ask Siri to tell me like what what's the weather like right now on Mount Hermon you know like I can just ask and get the answer so we we have this flood of information and when we allow general ideas to fulfill vague prophetic ideas then we have constant fulfillment and so this becomes dangerous I think so number four is we see fulfillment everywhere Jesus did not ask us to count earthquakes as a way of predicting his coming I don't think he asked us to do that more on that next week when we do our livestream so we see fulfillment everywhere it is a mistake instead of clear fulfillment which is what we should actually look for clear specific fulfillment of specific clear passages otherwise don't worry about it number five the fifth reason why we fall for these guys and their faked predictions is they earn our trust they earn your trust because they sound so smart they sound so wise you don't really understand what they're saying you don't really get how they got to where they're going but you figure they must know so we they earn our trust never elevate anybody to the level of Scripture in fact I'm a great advocate I said this many times even in my videos and teaching online is I think you should be sitting under more than one teacher in your life like if you love my content you look Mike wingers content online please don't let it be the only thing you hear because i'm unbalanced not on purpose but i'm sure i'm unbalanced and there's that that I've got wrong I mean I'm wrong somewhere I've got to be of all the stuff I talk about I got to be wrong about something and I want to be teachable and learn when that nothing to gets it gets exposed to me but my counsel to you is don't just say I rely on so-and-so whatever they say that's probably the case if you don't see it in scripture for yourself at least put it in a category in your mind of going that's interesting so-and-so thinks that so I consider it but since I don't get it I'm not absorbing it have a filter so you don't don't just say I trust you therefore you can predict the second coming of Jesus specifically Jesus said you couldn't anyways so I should just stop the sixth reason the sixth reason is people want it the sixth reason people fall for this so because they want it so bad man I and I do too it's real like we know Jesus is going to return and I want him to return so when someone talks about maybe this is meaning he'll return I get excited about that I'm interested in that but that doesn't make it biblical it doesn't make it true and so I don't want to have like that confirmation bias of just wanting it and getting caught up in in fact infrequently into the world predictions come in movements where God is really working powerfully God's really working powerfully lots of people are getting saved and so then they just start thinking you know we're the generation that gets man look at what God is doing like it's got to happen I remember in Calvary chapel's hearing people say the rapture is gonna happen before Chuck dies I just know it well pastor Chuck passed away he went to be with the Lord and the rapture didn't happen so my counsel if anybody if you said that or thought that is for you to stop and go wait a minute I'm obviously not thinking clearly about this issue lord help me think more clearly about it help me be more biblical and then number seven astrological snake-oil that's number seven this is the seventh reason why people fall for this stuff snake oil right happens all the time there's oh there this particular formation of Jupiter with Venus and Neptune over here and Orion's belt and all this stuff and this means something really powerful and if you're like me you're just like you look up and go oh stars are cool okay this has never happened before it'll never happen again or the last time it happened was when Jesus was born or you name it the thing is astrological things are happening all the time there's always some unique event around the corner next month something will happen in the sky that hasn't happened for thousands of years and a week later something else will happen that is equally you know as I guess unlikely or or rare I remember the blood moons happen and they were like the weird thing about the blood moons is they're happening on the Feast of Israel and I was like yeah but the feasts of Israel are centered on a lunar calendar so if there's a Blood Moon it'll be on it you know like this is this this stuff it's just it just becomes snake oil basically um so I say avoid those things they're not based on clear teachings of Scripture yeah the Bible talks about signs in the heavens but signs in the heavens is a generic phrase and so it'll be a generic sign I think I don't think we should look for that exact formation of these particular constellations symbolizes this I think that's unwise and so I just have a bonus one for you number eight eight threes and why people fall for this stuff and then I'm gonna take your guys questions you can start loading them in AJ says we got a bunch of questions already so I'm happy to have those eighth reason we missed the real message of the second coming and the real message of the second coming is not here's what I'm coming the real message is be ready all the time because the Second Coming is happening basically this world's temporary and what is permanent is on its way so live for what's eternal live for Christ don't compromise your walk don't compromise your life don't compromise any of those things be in the light so that it won't overtake you as a thief even though it will come when it comes whenever it is it'll be a surprise but you can be ready or not ready that's the main message I think so those are just some of the reasons I really hope that that this this helps you guys out next week I'm going to get into the biblical view and I'll take your questions in five seconds here I'm going to get into the biblical view of based upon the parables and teachings of Jesus especially the apocalyptic right the future prophecy that Jesus gave in Matthew and Mark based on those those types of things along with revelation Act and the Apostles how long was it supposed to be till Jesus came back so what we'll get into that next week and if you're watching the replay of this you know over a week from now then that video is already available online okay so your questions time for your questions thanks for joining me let's see I see you guys over here we got like about almost 70 people watching right now online that's pretty neat blessed to have you guys with me today and I'm excited to have this going on it's been really cool doing the livestream and preparing for it and putting the content out there and the response on YouTube has been fantastic I'm getting more of a viewership for these videos and I then I did for anything I've done in the past at least on average sometimes video jumps out but this it's like every livestream I get good viewership and it means that the ministry is is really finding a place in people's hearts and lives that's exciting so from Bethany Cole Baum I says how can Christians prepare for the end of the world a great question so my view is this since we don't know when the end will be and if you're like me your your premillennial right I believe the millennium is coming but it hasn't happened yet and all that but since I don't know when it'll be I have to prepare for both contingencies you know it it's it's like you have you ever been using your GPS or whatever and you're coming up to a freeway entrance and you and one road goes to the right and one goes to the left and you don't know which one you have to take yet so maybe there's a middle lane that goes right or left and where do you go you go to the middle lane right so you don't know I don't know if I'll go right or left but where I'm at I can do either and I'll be fine and this is I don't know if you guys taking me home or if I'm sticking around and it's a later generation I don't know so I picked the middle lane so to speak and I tried to prepare for retirement and I try to prepare for a life of serving God until my old age till I'm ancient and gray and I look like Santa Claus which which will happen to me and then and then I also prepare for him to take me out at any moment which basically means I don't have time to sit on my spiritual laurels so to speak I want to be following Jesus with all I've got today it's a simple simple answer but the application of it is so important that's how you prepare for the end of the world it's not in stockpiling food and water that can be wise just to be wise but that's not the point Christian's to be ready for the end of the world you're not to be a doomsday prepper that's not the point nothing if you want to be a doomsday prepper fine but don't overly apply that to Jesus don't over spiritual eyes your doomsday prep stuff because that sets you up for being caught up into some odd things so just that's just my opinion you're asking my counsel that's it so Marlin Thea says hi Mike the day and our the coming of the Lord is only known by the father right so why do you think these guys are trying so hard to predict it to the exact day it's difficult to to get into the to like the motives they might have I agree with you it's I think there's a good chance Jesus now knows but didn't while he was on the earth as as part of the whole coming as a man and limiting himself oh I do think he now knows just an opinion I have a scripture for that but I'll get into that next week actually we'll talk about that next week specifically but why do I think they try so hard to predict the exact day when the scripture clearly teaches that nobody knows I think they're excited about it I think that sometimes you open the Bible and you want to get something new as a Bible teacher I know especially younger I used to go to the scripture thinking like what can I find that to new that nobody's noticed before and I was very naive about that obviously I'm not gonna find anything no one's noticed before or else I mean hey if you find something nobody's ever noticed before guess what you made it up like that's that's like a good biblical principle for your Bible studies but maybe there's an element of that there might be an arrogance of pride kind of like a wise in your own opinion to think that you can figure this stuff out it might also just be that they're an unreasonable person I think Dean the the the guy who predicts the end of the world next week he seems to be an unreasonable guy I'm just basing it off of his actual content seems very unreasonable Harold Camping when you heard him teach and talk he often would would do like a good Bible study like this verse says this it means this and other times he would just do really Harry I see Jesus where he would sort of read symbolic meaning into things that didn't clearly have that meaning so a bad Bible study techniques might be part of it a question from Bethany Cole Baum Mike how do we deal with people that try to predict the future or the time of Jesus well it really depends on who the people are right like if the person is your your pastor who's leading a spiritual leader to other people I feel like prayerfully there's a good chance you should you should go and confront that and you should deal with it through the leadership in the church in a submitted like careful honest way you should do with it deal with it though if it's a private person and they're proclaiming it in the church then let the church leaders deal with it that's fine I just let them know but if it's just like some Joe Schmoe who you have know sort of they're not really connected with that local fellowship there's no accountability between them and other people and they're just kind of out on their own I debate whether I even want to talk to them about it or not because sometimes you're just adding fuel to their fire because they're just looking for an audience looking for someone to argue with so if they're not part of your fellowship I'd be prayerful about whether or not to deal with it at all if they are part of your fellowship I would try to graciously talk to them and then go to them with the leadership of the church if possible in that in that order just just like Matthew 18 kind of references on look at the order of how we deal with error it's not a it's not a direct application but I think we can draw some principles from Matthew 18 there yeah if I could get them to sit down and show me where in the bible does it clearly say that and let them share their case and then respond to their case that would be a great way to do it if if they'll allow that conversation to happen from Joshua Rivera how should we how should we see I'm gonna read this as it is here how should feel as Christians about the end times I think it's how should we feel as Christians about the end times worried fearful joyful etc yeah distraught appropriate there all appropriate emotions I'm excited about being with the Lord I'm aware of judgment and difficult times that will come in in my life even if Jesus doesn't come back in this generation there will still be tribulations for me you know even if nothing happens if I just die of old age I guess what shira's probably won't be really great you know physically and so in this world you will suffer tribulation this is this is gonna happen so I think a mixture of emotions is entirely appropriate I'm excited I'm also a little scared not because I'm fearful of what God will do to me but because when I know hard times come you know and here we get into issues of like are you pre-trib mid-trib post-trib and since i don't want to discuss that today at all I I'm trying to speak in generalities that would apply to anybody who is in any of those positions from Chad Kovac or Kovac are you familiar with Jim Baker's revelation prophecy no I'm not actually how do you feel about a ministry that's based on and profits from end times there okay I can't speak to Jim Baker I mean his name doesn't ring a bell of being a really great reliable source in my mind but I have no idea but anybody who's making their money off of twisting the Bible I have a problem with but that doesn't mean that every ministry that's talking about n times is doing that I mean they perhaps they're doing something really good so I guess I don't know how to answer a general question quite like that if they're twisting the Bible and making money off of that then they're basically they're making money in a terrible way but they're even in more trouble for twisting the Bible so so from William toi Mike where do you place the second witness the second the two witnesses excuse me in the timeline of Revelation so many people I respect disagree whether revelation is totally totally linear I'm not I'm not sure if revelation is linear or not I I I wonder about that and I'm not sure if I if I know how to answer that question I've studied and taught through revelation twice as a youth pastor so I've taught it differently to the youth than I would like say online where I have a more of an older more thoughtful audience to be honest but if I go through it again one day if I heard to it online if then I'll then I'll I'll address that question for sure so I'm not sure I'm not sure yeah there's there's interesting books out there like the four views book on Revelation I thought that was interests because it exposes you to different views which I thought was nice I enjoy hearing different and disagreeing interpretations of Scripture from people to help me kind of think out my own thoughts on the stuff yeah the two witnesses in the timeline of Revelation I I place them in the middle of tribulation from my own perspective and they yeah there you go so from kaytethegreat how do I respond to a sort of crazy family member who believes all of these prophets who are predicting the end of the world I don't see the family member very often I'll go out on a limb and say because you described your family member is sort of crazy Kate I'm gonna get I'm gonna guess that there's not a lot you can do so I would say pray for wisdom pray for wisdom that God would give you an idea on how to reach out to this person or how to help them or minister to them I am at a loss when it comes to these kinds of situations myself as well and so if you are well I'm I'm right there with you I wish especially family we just had a family gathering and it was so great to see my family and I love my family very deeply but but for the most part him not everybody in my family but a lot of the people in my family it's a very difficult thing for for them to hear me speaking on spiritual issues some of them might even might even watch some of my videos online but in person those issues they feel uncomfortable addressing for the large part the majority but not all of them and God slowly has been building bridges there and I just pray that the Lord would give you wisdom and help build a bridge for you to talk to them the one recommendation I make is choose your battles very carefully before you talk to this family member about about these prophets ask yourself is this worth it because it'll be a hard conversation and she probably won't be up for a second one afterwards so pick the most important thing talk about that and then move on another thing to do is after the end of the world prediction doesn't come true you could always ask just ask your family member hey what do you think about that you know next week this this guy's you know prediction doesn't come true what do you think about that now do you still think he's a reasonable guy and just ask questions so those are a couple thoughts Evan Adan's Adamson Evan Adamson asks a question says as a young adults leader when I encounter people who believe in numerology and to a less extent Pacific in time predictions how do i minister to them it's so tough because the truth is that the numerology stuff has it's entered into their mind it's almost bypassed thoughtful careful Bible studying so yes seven is a significant number in the Bible but what you're doing with it seems a little beyond anything the Bible does with it did that that sort of thing so yeah you you have the position of being a young adults leader that when you do encounter people you are speaking from a position of authority so one of the things you can do as a leader is you could say well can I share with you my thoughts on that or can I share with you my position on that and just your own position as a young adults leader is that that you have there's some weight in what you share but if you share it as here's my thoughts or my opinion it might be more readily listened to then if you just say that's wrong and I'll tell you why another thing you can do is ask someone who believes in numerology to present you a careful case can you just show me like I'm down I will follow this stuff if you can show me how it's true now this is something I would I would very much be interested in doing I've actually asked people for I do it all the time in the comments section of my videos someone says Mike you're a liar and I go could you could you point out a specific thing I said that wasn't true just one statement I made that wasn't true and then I just leave it on there on them and I almost never get an answer so I think that yeah the the putting the onus on them you make the case for the numerological interpretation your offering here and when they try to make it they sit down and try to give it to you you know line by line it may be revealed to them that they don't really know it that well that they just heard it it sounded good and they just ran with it now I have a question from B CB Lloyd question can you speak more on premillennial versus Pope premillennial versus post-millennial and why you believe in a rapture of church prior to the tribulation thank you not today I can't so I'm I'm trying to avoid that the the reason why I actually mentioned that I am premillennial is because the people that are post millennial aren't falling for these predictions it's the premillennial people it's people like me right so that someone goes well here's a here's a guy who has the same view as I have and he thinks these endtime predictions are ridiculous hmm maybe I'll listen to him so I figured it would build a bridge by at least presenting that information I will say this one thing though premillennial versus post millennial and that sort of thing is the post-millennial view or say the preterist view as well that these views they seem it seems to me that they they so symbolize they get a symbolic meaning of scriptures to the point where it just loses almost all meaning and and you read the book of Revelation in the beginning it it actually you the preterist interpretation makes a lot of sense until you get a few chapters in and all of a sudden it just starts to get harder and harder to believe until finally you're like ok if this is all just symbolic of general things then that's a that's a lot of detail and a lot of real specific stuff for what was merely symbolism so it'd be like saying the sky will recede as a scroll a scroll that is 6 feet by 2 feet with this many letters on each page it's like well why all these details if this is just a really generic symbolism so many details in there alright from Kate the great like an another question from Kate how do I respond to a oh I think that this might be an expansion of your previous question because I'm getting it again ok and Mike another question from William toy do you see prophecy is having partial and multiple fulfillment sort of sort of so the when you studying prophecy is really interesting I really love this study of prophecy something I want to study a whole lot more as I continue to grow in my knowledge of the word I see I wouldn't just say double fulfillment but sometimes there's partial and then total fulfillment and so the case of is really interesting right elijah is supposed to come before the Messiah comes John the Baptist shows up and he's in the spirit of Elijah yet Jesus and Jesus says yeah he was Elijah who is to come for prophecy Geeks you know exactly what I'm talking about right but I think that's a great example study the the fulfillment of Elijah coming before Jesus and then yet he comes again at a later time before the second coming of Christ so I think there's an example of that that sort of thing but I want to be careful how we use that principle because we're meant to use it thoughtfully not just say oh here's a principle now I'll just throw it in anywhere I want and so for those who are prophecy geeks I think that everything I said there will will click and make sense to you I have a question here from gotta get me six and the question is Mike are you a new world or old world creationist and my man I have I have studied and tried tried to study this past this topic I should say when it comes to the age of the earth biblically and scientifically it is a big big topic so biblically it spans many of it many verses more than just Genesis there's creation passages in several places in the Bible it wide it deals with issues about genealogies all this kind of stuff you get into what is what is you know this word mean and how do I interpret a poetic passage here and all that then when you get into the older younger in the in the physical side of things you've got things like starlight the speed of the speed of light distant starlight you know you've got things like naturalistic assumptions radiometric dating and oh man radio halos in in crystals and and the just I mean there's all kinds of interesting stuff you know there's there's okay well there's the layers lay down the Grand Canyon yes but there's volcanic deposits in between the layers so was that all how far apart where they laid down can we date that volcanic eruption do you get my point it gets into an expanding expanding more and more complicated issue so I would say I don't know I don't know and this is not because I'm afraid of a conclusion or afraid of trusting the Scriptures it's because after studying a lot I've realized sometimes in your studying you compile here's all the stuff I need to understand before I can answer this question and I have not yet gotten through it all so one day I'd like to do some stuff on it one day what I think will be beneficial is a an actual study through Genesis and not just Genesis but really answer this question what what legitimate interpretations of Scripture would present you know an age of the earth young or old like is it is it is it possible to be truthful and honest in Scripture with a young earth view with an Old Earth view that that would be something I'll do way in the future probably so from detective in Christ my dear brother Mike how do we decide on pre-trib or post-trib rapture I'm confused yeah and that's a tough one my own studies into this is I was raised and brought up pre-trib rapture and part of Calvary Chapel very very strong I mean the the belief in pre-trib rapture in Calvary Chapel is almost as strong as the belief in the gospel and so it's very it's very up there as important you know you can't traditionally things are changing right now but you couldn't even be considered a Calvary if you weren't pre-trib my personal view is this pre-trib mid-trib post-trib is such a minor minor issue that I would never divide ever ever divide with the brother on that issue in any way shape or form and it's difficult for me to know for sure which one the Bible clearly teaches so I I'm again up in the air oddly enough if you'd asked many years ago I would have been more confident but now I'm less confident because of having studied heard multiple views so forgive me but this is a live Q&A so I'm not I'm not sitting down to to do a bunch of research and then answer a question I'm just giving you my thoughts as they flow from Ryan tanner this is a hey Mike hey Ryan do you think someone who made false in times prophecies has invalidated themselves from vocational ministry even if they repent of it I know this is a fairly common view no I I think that I think it depends on the repentance right so if they've if in my view if someone's really repented and they've truly come around they've truly Wow I didn't just repent cuz I got caught I repented cuz I saw the error of my ways they might be one of the best people to keep that stuff from happening in the future but that would be a decision that would need to be made with like the leadership of that local fellowship and something you the thing is and this is what I love about our ministry that we have we raise people up from within the church typically we know them we've known them for years we know some of the issues they have we know the strengths they have and we know hopefully who they are and where they're coming from and that stuff is very very clear so if it's if it seems to the people who know this guy the the spiritually mature believers who know this guy he's really repented he's really he's really grown and changed from that view that I would think that yeah he can I mean if if Paul the Apostle could be like I murdered Christians and I got saved repented and now I'm preaching to them you know maybe people can be raised up into ministry even though they've had some pretty serious mistakes and flaws in the past if those things are truly repented of so what we'll be doing if ever another actually I do see a couple questions popping in right now so let me answer those Jessie Swanger says do you see biblical numerology is nonsense it just depends on what you mean by numerology so you you have to care about numbers if you're gonna study the Bible and it's clear that like 6 & 7 that these numbers mean something what what I don't like is saying here's a number that means this generic thing so I could translate a number into a generic thing that's fine but when I take that generic thing and somehow boil it down into some really specific clear prophetic fulfillment thing that's where I go okay step one I was with you of step two you lost me so trying to predict the second coming trying to predict other other stuff like that through numerology seems sketchy to me and a question from Bible history science says Mike isn't the 666 name numerology well yeah I mean it's it's numerological in a sense right but-but-but here this is a perfect example actually do this for the youth ministry I took my name my full name and I assigned numbers to my name just using the alphabet a is 1 B is 2 C is 3 and then I multiplied it by a legit number cuz I'm a second so I multiplied it by 2 and I came up with guess what 6 6 6 so my name legitimately can be used you can calculate from my name the number of the beast 666 and you can do it with Barack Obama and you could do with Donald Trump and you can do with Bill Clinton and you can do it with Pope Francis and you can do with Caesar Nero and you can do it with your third-grade teacher you could do with anybody because that's the danger of not just taking a number but but now I'm gonna I'm gonna turn this into like a mathematical formula where I can assign numbers and meanings wherever I want adjust them multiply them however I want and it just gets wacky and weird so that's some of the stuff that we saw these guys do when they come up with these these weird that's the kind of numerology I'm opposed to so the implication about the mark of the beast the 666 marked interesting in Scripture the 666 mark is to be known to the generation who's experiencing it at the moment might let him who reads understand like this is a future when you're in the middle of it then you'll see it but if someone says like oh I went to my job and they put a chip in us all so that we could enter the building without passing security duh oh you took the mark like no you didn't you took a chip like that's not the same thing okay you know I remember when they said barcodes were like you know here's a here's a barcode right here you know there are these two longer bars and two bars here and two bars here and the bars represent six so six six six so you know just going to the grocery store buying something with a barcode on it you're participating in the mark of the beast you can't buy yourself without it okay you're not just being silly you're making people into foolish people when you preach that kind of stuff does the Bible clearly say that no it does not I think that the scripture is gonna is saying that it's going to be clear but there will be several things going with the mark right you've got you've got the 666 thing going on you've got the fact that you cannot buy or sell without this thing and you have to worship the image of the beast and the Beast oh there's the worship part - it's not just take this number you can't buy or sell there's there's a worship aspect as well so that that's for the futurist perspective the person who thinks these things are yet to be fulfilled I think a balanced view is to take all the people trying to calculate the mark over every generation trying to do it and say stop it you're embarrassing yourself and worse than that you're you're learning how to study the Bible in flimsy and fallible ways so I get passion about this stuff because I've heard so much of it and it makes me sad and a little bit irritated to be honest so I hope that that I hope that that that helps out yeah looks like you guys might have some more questions I'll let AJ send those over to me if there are any more and I'll tell you again my plan for next week is to to look at specifically the teachings of Jesus about his second coming and about the signs of the times and show why this in my view was supposed to be a undisclosed distant long time away from the perspective of Jesus like first century Christians should have known this and and the disciples I think knew it as well so we'll talk about that next time all right so I see a bunch of you guys in here Darren Mary forgive me Fox Bible history science do and Morton all you guys thanks for joining me today it's been real a real blessing and a privilege to get to do it I love that you guys come on here for theology and apologetics and that you get excited when we're like let's just go to the text what did they actually how do they interpret that verse that that excites you that excites me and let's be honest we we don't have enough people around us that are also excited about these things so it's a real blessing that we get to kind of kind of come together and gather around the truth of God's Word to try to understand it thoughtfully carefully and deal with issues that we're facing today so the next time you you hear garbage about predicting when Jesus is coming back about who who the Antichrist is stop and ask yourself do I understand this through a clear teaching of Scripture or is it vague and is it stuff where you take the Bible put it into symbolism take the symbolism put it into a math formula and come out with exact dates that are centered around guess what you and your time and your generation instead I only be ready instant you know in season out of season be ready for whenever whenever Jesus comes back alright so thanks guys that's all for today I'll shut it down for everybody who's joining on Facebook live thanks for being there and we will pick up next week 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on how long Jesus thought it was going to be until his uh until he came back or how long he wanted us to think it was going to be put it that way god bless you guys
