Emma Raducanu returns to her primary school

i wanted to come back and visit all the kids and especially because it's sports day i had the best memories at this school at sports day we all had so much fun and it was so competitive i think even from that age everyone just wanted to win on your marks get set i couldn't believe it i didn't expect it at all how excited they were to see just a really nice feeling and i've already bumped into a few of my teachers so it's been so nice to see them still here and enjoying what they're doing as well i think it's lovely that she contacted us you know herself to you know to come back and it's been a real boost for tired teachers and excited children and parents alike [Music] they are very much inspired particularly knowing that she has been at their school already i can see some of them thinking oh well i'd like to try and follow in her footsteps it does make me want to do more because to see their inspiration and their excited faces when i walked in i was like wow i mean these kids are spurring me on like i can't let them down so i think to keep pushing on so i can inspire them and hopefully they can get into tennis as well if they watch me over the summer the weather's great it'd be very nice environment for the kids to be outside and playing and doing sports it's great in terms of motor skills it's great in terms of health in general tennis is an unbelievable sport i mean it gives you so many opportunities it is so fun and the lta run a bunch of great courses in this new lta youth campaign it's so much fun i promise you guys [Music] it was an absolute pleasure to teach emma at school for two years i have to say that she really was kind of what you see today focus determination perseverance resilience all of those things she was always very strong as a character always very determined i think you see that on court now the time has definitely flown by it's been seven years since i finished primary school but i finished secondary school about two months ago so it's not really been a big break for me it's nice to be in the situation where i can now focus on my tennis and tournaments and give it really everything i've got i'm just really excited to get going and i feel like now after the grass season and having those great opportunities i can really actually start my journey [Music] i had an amazing time today seeing all the kids they were all so excited and i could tell that they were having so much fun getting involved in loads of different sports helps a lot and in my case it certainly did the welcome they gave me it was so warm i mean i felt right at home it was it was the nicest feeling coming [Music] back
