when we picture the end we like to imagine well go out comfortably and with dignity but when outrageous stupidity is allowed too much influence a person's final moments can often be summed up in two words total embarrassment continuing this exploration into the people who've removed themselves from the gene pool and spectacularly stupid ways join me and let's hand out some Darwin Awards chug of death for as long as humans have known how to make beer there have been people who drink too much of it but while beer drinking contests where excess with pride the consequences can be dire as was made very clear in 2013 had a Spanish drinking festival the contest winner knocked back and astonishing 12 and a half pints of beer at 20 minutes now bearing in mind drinking 12 and a half pints of water in this time would be considered a potentially lethal amount you can probably imagine the effect that much beer had after raising his trophy The Champion began vomiting non-stop before passing out he died soon afterwards from what was most likely alcohol poisoning with a side order of seriously poor decision making hard to swallow in july 2019 a man was catching tilapia fish in a river in the philippines using a somewhat unconventional storage method he developed a regular habit of storing the fish in his mouth so that he could have both hands-free to catch more fish without needing to return to the shore but when he popped one particularly vigorous still happy add to his piehole for safekeeping and attempted to escape down his throat the man began choking and ran to his house for help but the slippery creature proved impossible to retrieve he died soon after but his tale lives on as a reminder of why we invented handy little things known his boxes and baskets fatal strain for decades now an old legend has floated around the toilets of the world that Elvis Presley died from overstraining on the loo many have been understandably skeptical of the legend but in January 2020 a chinese man's death brought that skepticism into question seventy two year old from Wenzhou china went into cardiac arrest after a bout of chronic constipation during which he reportedly overdid it over straining isn't usually fatal but the man's history of heart disease meant his blood pressure dropped to lethal eat low levels and his heart stopped but at least he died on a throne even if it was porcelain over in a flash in August 20 19 when a housekeeper at an Atlanta hotel in at a room for tidying she was shocked when the man inside exposed himself to her disgusted she called security but when security confronted the man he fled attempting to jump from his balcony to another seeing as he was 10 stories up this probably should have raised alarm bells for but in the least surprising twist of the century his escape plan failed and he plummeted 10 floors onto the pavement below what a chilling expose deadliest catch in 2017 a 67 year old Pokemon Go user in Singapore took the excitement of catching a new pocket monster to another level mere moments after catching Lapras and Granville as new additions to his 200 Pokemon strong collection he keeled over in the throes of a heart attack he died soon afterwards and an investigation revealed that the poor fellow's pre-existing heart condition had left him vulnerable to overstimulation and overexertion that's scurrying around for Pokemon can induce well he's not the first person to die while using Pokemon go he is quite possibly the first to die from the excitement of a catch it seems got to catch them all might need to be revised - gotta catch some of them calmly and at a leisurely pace fantastic what's the saying an eye for an eye well how about a tooth for a Fang the latter saying proved more fitting in a village in guara India in july 2019 while a group of villagers were gathering maize from a field a snake slithered onto the path most of them distanced themselves from the reptile but one man stood strong determined to dispatch the scaly fiend he grabbed the snake which instantly began biting him on the hands and face shocked but not defeated the man played the ultimate alpha mu he bit the snake right back killing him but while the man won the battle he lost the war and dad from the snakes potent venom that day whether it was a badass or simply stupid way to die probably that up to you guys in the comments below to decide roof top rail rider in 2019 a self-proclaimed Russian daredevil trained surfer mounted the roof of a high-speed service from st. began at 7:30 a.m. when she stole a truck which soon ran out of gas shortly after pulling over a kind of strangers stop to help the stranded woman a helpful gesture that resulted in the woman stealing the stranger's car she cruised off like a maniac crashing into several vehicles until the car could no longer be driven when the newfound taste for auto theft of the greatest kind she attempted to steal another car she had to abandon the attempt after realizing the car she'd taken had a manual transmission and she was an automatic kind of gal with police closing in incompetent criminal went for the big finish she left on to a passing semi-truck for a quick escape unfortunately Vin Diesel movies make this type of thing look much easier than it is and the woman lost her grip slipping under the trailer and being immediately fatally crushed ground hence criminals reality eventually hits like a truck the price of theft when a man stole his shirt in Puerto Rico in 2019 his hasty attempts to remove the security tag when he got home proved unexpectedly lethal his tool of choice was a knife and he decided to try to pop the tag off while still wearing the shirt the son wise decision resulted in the knife slipping and plunging into his side by the time his horrified wife found him he was already dead who would have thought shoplifting could escalate to self-inflicted murder so quickly story of a lifetime and this age of rampant obsession with social media the stupidity of desperate attention-seeking is increasingly resulting in utterly idiotic easily avoidable deaths like in Australia in 2019 when a group of young overly excited women broadcast their antics over snapchat while driving on the highway the two passengers could be seen distracting the driver and encouraging her to drive erratically which she did intentionally veering into oncoming traffic the girls all seemed to be having a heck of a laugh at the expense of other drivers that is until the laughter turned to screams while the driver was distracted by her passengers she beard off again in down coming traffic this time unintentionally seconds later she crashed head-on with another car while the people in the other car as well as her passengers survived the girl driving was killed on impact it's a lesson that really shouldn't need to be said don't tempt fate with exceedingly dangerous and dumb behavior especially behind the wheel of a car tenderizing beef gals probably don't like to be eaten but if this story from June 2019 is anything to go by they hate being stolen even more when an Indian man stole a cow from a village in Karnataka he managed to lead it over a mile away without detection and probably thought got out scot-free but when he tried to load the animal into his vehicle it became clear that the cow had different plans with a swift brutal kick directly to the danglers the cow caused internal trauma and rupturing so severe the man was dead by the time authorities found him if this case of testicular tenderization could teach us anything it's that Cathy should probably wear honey jock straps Sharpshooter by the time you reach the age of 47 you think you'd have picked up a decent amount of common sense but at a party in 1998 a man proved that notion wrong when he bet that his 47 year old buddy couldn't shoot a can off his head confident in his abilities the friend took up the bed he loaded the handgun took aim and fired I'm sure you can put the pieces together of what happened next let's just say the man with the can was left distinctly lacking in the face Department while the friend was left facing a murder charge roach dinner while eating insects is an increasingly common practice around the world and not inherently stupid it's hard to deny the underlying idiocy of an insect eating contest when one such contest was held at a Florida reptile store in 2012 the grand prize was a mighty Python worth $850 one Florida man stepped up to the task with victory on his mind and Scott down dozens of cockroaches and worms he won but his victory was cut short when he staggered outside vomiting and struggling to breathe eventually he fell to the ground and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead it wasn't the quality of the insects that killed him they were bred to regulation standards for consumption it was the quantity he ate which when he started to vomit came back up and clogged his Airways choking him to death so remember if you're going to nom on those cockroaches in your garage limit yourself to a bowl full rail way to heaven the ultimate example of deadly railway stupidity came at the very end of 2019 combining the equally dumb notions of social media obsession and flagrant disregard for self-preservation while on a train journey in Mumbai man decided to hop on an unbelievably stupid trend that involves hanging off of moving trains and filming the act unfortunately for him after feeling the breeze on his face for a moment he soon felt something much harder a metal girder from a bridge the train passed over smashed him straight back into the carriage with unbelievable force by the time his friends got him to a hospital he was DOA I sure hope it was worth it having a blast it would be dishonest to pretend fatal stupidity is a new thing it's just that with the rapid sharing of information nowadays we get to hear cases of it more often but a story from the diary of a first world war soldier may take the cake for one of the most unbelievable acts a deadly dumbness of all time the soldier recounts the story of a division making their way through enemy land when one of the men finds an unexploded mortar shell instead of wisely running as far away as possible the soldier decided to pick it up and play with it as others looked on somehow forgetting the very real danger at hand they cheered for him to drop it on its house and like a good soldier he did as he was told he dropped the mortar and it exploded 25 men were killed and 31 more were wounded and thanks to this soldier thousands more people will have suffered facial injuries from face-palming with excessive force which Darwin Award
