Chase will need to race his ass off this weekend to stay alive in the playoffs. I think he can do it but id be lying if i said i wasnt nervous for him! That blown engine or whatever it was that happened at Dover really hurt him. He battled like hell last weekend at Talledega though, and he if he can avoid the wrecks this weekend I think he can end up in victory lane.

are you first in line no fathers why don't you wait in my room Wow why is it on the floor hey wait outside for [Music] [Music] every generation has a character that stands out amongst everyone else NASCAR is no exception in the beginning it was Richard Petty then it was Earnhardt bill Elia saw his days as a fan favorite Jeff Gordon served his days glory Dale jr. always had his fallin and Jimmie Johnson taught us what domination was in the 2000s today as many of NASCAR fans are figuring out who they will get behind there's one who is captivating crowds larger than most others that driver is chase Elliott we all had the privilege to see chases dad win many races in a championship and for a long time Bill Elliott was NASCAR's most popular driver and towards the close of bill Elliott's career we would see him transition as a racer and the father often times seeing young chase Elliott along the side of his father as chaser get over Bill Elliott knew he would need to allow chases start racing at a young age in order to gain an advantage over his competition starting him in go-karts at a young age to begin his racing career as early as 2007 chase Elliott was already racing bandoleros across the South Face finding success at a young age leading up into racing legends cars and years after [Music] we came back over here and won the last two and then we went to cordial and I won over there and now we're here just looking for a good winner series you already sound like a seasoned veteran driver when it comes to talking talking racing on the on the television tell me about the winter series coming up you have to have a certain number of races under your belt you told me to get a special provision to race legends when you become 12 years old is that something you're trying to shoot for to do try to get all my races to go up to the ledge 12 continuing his racing dreams to the age of 13 chase Elliott was listed in exclusive class in 2009 when he was named as just one of 13 other athletes at potential future stars of sports the July 13 2009 issue of Sports Illustrated with such an exclusive and high bar already established on his name chase Elliott would need to excel early on in his late-model driving career and he would do just that picking up 12 wins and 40 events across various racing series in 2010 with the support of his father and sponsors Red Bull and Aaron's Home Furnishings 5 2011 chase Elliott agreed to a three-year driver development program with Hendrick Motorsports in February 2011 in 2011 and 2012 Elliott would compete full-time in a NASCAR K&N a series where he would finished ninth in 2011 points and four from 2012 picking up his first victory at Iowa in 2012 as well [Music] they're wild I mean obviously you know Brent had the dominant car tonight yeah you hate to see it hate to see that get taken away from anybody especially when it's you but no we'll take it any way we can get it's not like we had a bad car and won the race we had a really fast car I think one that was capable of winning we just had to have I'd have things go our way had to have a good restart and was gonna have to have a little getting on the bottom to get by and you know forced only things kind of worked out I didn't have to do that but at the same time start to scout for an eyelash for a white checker after signs of success in the ranks of the K&N series chase Elliott would step into the 2013 season of a big opportunity into higher ranks of his journey up the racing ladder after competing in six ARCA race in 2012 chase Elliott would jump onto Hendrick Motorsports number nine car for five more races in 2013 in order to prepare 18 year old chase Elliott of competition and bigger courses doing this Elliott would become the youngest winner in RK history when he won at Pocono in June of 2013 on top of this it was announced that chase Elliott would compete in nine races for Rick Hendrick number 94 in the Camping World Truck Series now during chases time in a 94 truck he would score seven top tens five top five and he makes him NASCAR history at Bristol Motor Speedway by qualifying on the polar wars from 2013 UNOH 200 which would make chase led youngest pole sitter in Truck Series history [Music] subscribe [Music] fifteen point three two wait start celebrating he [Music] thank you the youngest winner in the history of the Camping World Truck Series and you will lead the field to the green flag tonight at Bristol hasn't Sam it sounds Austin I hope we can finish they're really really proud of everybody and Erin's and Indra cars.com everybody supports me and our team I know we had a pretty good shot today in practice we qualified well hopefully we can finish there as most importantly fast forward a chase's six career start in a Camping World Truck Series it's a road course Canadian Tire Motorsports Park ty Dillon finds himself where brother Austin done left off as an elite of D Truck Series driving number three Bass Pro Shops Chevy Silverado however on this day ty Dillon faced a mirror full of chase Elliott ty Dillon as if the furthest point away from the start/finish line right now can he hang on and stay in front of chase Elliott up the long and ready straightaway they go Chase has a run at him here comes Elliott look at the inside side by side for the lead Elliott has the advantage but their door-to-door is they go up looking into turn number eight excuse me they go while ty Dillon was fighting full mileage as his truck was running out of fuel chase Elliott was looking for the right time to make his move and in a final turn chase had the inside but ty tried to take it the end result was Ty Dillon spinning out finishing 17th while chase Elliott would go to Victory Lane and the two drivers pit crews that have a heated argument after a race in Canada chase congratulations it's been an awesome year for you you got your first ARCA series win earlier this season and a big one today but tell me about that last corner well we only have so many shots to win these things and I really hate to win them like that I really that's not our race and it's never been a race before but I had a shot I was up next at I knew he was gonna try to chop me off and I tried to make out the difference like I said I don't I can win like that but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to try to get a victory lane and just can't thank everybody know if Aaron's hindered cars like everybody that supports me a mom and dad God everybody there's a part of my program and I just really looking forward to things to come after 2013 chase Elliott did not have a deal lined up but after Napa had left Martin Truex Jr and Michael Waltrip Racing they were still looking to stay in NASCAR and as Rick Hendrick wanted to keep young chase Elliott and the Hendrick Motorsports program a deal was put together for chase Elliott Drive for Junior Motorsports in the number nine car which was his father's most famous number and a number he carried for majority of his career to that point with NAPA Auto Parts on board as a primary sponsor now it was cool about to 2014 Nationwide Series in the beginning was the fact that chase Elliott had the unique opportunity to race on track of his father for the first time on a NASCAR track during spring testing at Daytona while chase tested to number nine Camaro Bill Elliott tested a number five Camaro sharing a draft of one another for the first time another fun fact about this season was the fact that chase Elliott was still a high school student while competing full-time for Junior Motorsports in the early part of that year I couldn't even get a job at high school let alone be a professional racecar driver now obviously I'm sure his school had to have been understanding on everything going on of him and I'm sure he was fine I remember hearing that he actually had to miss his prom a long the school's graduation ceremony to race but I'd say it was worth it fast forward at Texas 2014 in this 200 lap race the number nine team found himself in the lead and were remained in the lead for 38 laps total as chase Elliott would indeed go on to win his first Xfinity Series race in 2014 of Texas right here go wow what a path right around the top side there momentum got behind Kevin had to run behind there for a while we race pretty hard you know I've tried to take a different line of him he kept taking my line away I finally predicted what he's gonna do one time get it outside and getting a big good run down the straightaway so it was cool to basket for the one he's got it I worked up to and guys give me a lot of advice this season and that's why I got I'm gonna you know continue to go to the by score he's been a big help and he's a chinois card he knows how to win races and now Chase had followed us up by winning the next week at Darlington as well and then he would win again later in 2014 of Chicagoland this would be Elliott's only three wins in 2014 but was so crucial to his season in 2014 was his 16 top 5s and 26 top tens a year that would guide him to locking up to 2014 Nationwide Series championship by the time the fall race at Phoenix that arrived what's going through your mind right now I just honestly disbelief I don't know what to think I've never I've never been been a part of anything like this and just to have the opportunity to work with a group of guys like we have have had this year has been it's been a blessing for me to just to be here and honest I don't know what to think I really don't I don't even know how to feel right now that I've never been a part of this and I don't know whether it was okay for me to burnout or not but I want to hand it anyway I was pretty pumped so this is this is very very cool and I want to just really appreciate wreaking the way he raced me all year and just a just a super classy guy and it's been been a lot of fun racing the season dad was a champion your champ now tell me what this means to the Elliot family this is like I don't even know right now I mean I don't even I'm so in disbelief I don't know how to feel right now this is just like I said just a true blessing just to be here and I cannot believe it I really cannot I'm in disbelief so this is just really a testament just to the guys who work on this car every week and they bring that their a-game week in and week out it doesn't matter and they always make me look a heck of a lot better than I am so it's just honor to work with him and like I said this he's not ever so excited for him said following his Nationwide Series championship in 2014 chase Elliott returns in number 9 of Junior Motorsports in 2015 in hopes of repeating his championship run the new rebranded NASCAR Xfinity series he would nearly repeat his championship but in the end he would actually finish second just 15 points behind 2015 Xfinity Series champion Chris Buescher well chase Elliott had one win at Richmond in 2015 Chris Buescher scored two wins in 2015 the two were equal of top fives at 11 for chase Elliott had 27 top tens - Chris Busch was 20 top tens so what was the deciding factors that season Buescher had an average finish of 8.4 while Elliott version average finish up 8.9 on top of this Elliot had one DNF in 2015 while Buescher did not and out of 6000 50 laps of Xfinity Series competition in 2015 Buescher completed 6,000 43 laps while Elliott completed six thousand six laps that's only a difference of 37 laps but it was just enough to make a key deciding factor in the 2015 point standings while chase Elliott was finishing his full-time Xfinity Series career he and Hendrick Motorsports were beginning the process of transforming chase Elliott into a NASCAR Cup Series regular as a trailer he said trim their but these cars literally are like bumper cars I think we've had some pretty serious contact between the 55 and the 25 there's your right front damage on them the 25 what happened in turn one on the restart Darrell was just like an accordion they all got spread out at the front and at the back they all accordion together and back here in the garage area they continued to work on the 25 with chase Elliott they just told me they're making a radiator change and the power steering is completely gone that is what they're working on right now trying to fix that to help the steering hoping to get this young gun 19 year old chase Elliott back on the track under NASCAR's current rules teams can field a fifth car for a maximum of five races and Hendrick Motorsports utilized this role of chase Elliott driving number 25 car sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts in five races in 2015 Martinsville Richmond Charlotte Annapolis and Darlington nothing special happened these races and in some he actually crashed but it did offer a great learning experience for chase Elliott and that was all that was important we're joined by Jeff Gordon driver over the number 24 axalta 3m Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Gordon a four-time premier Series champion has 192 races and his third on the all-time wins list we're also joined by Rick Hendrick owner of Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series mr. Hendrick has a record 11 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championships including four with Jeff and Jeff's we'll start with you you had a big announcement this morning and this will be your final full-time season and possibly your final Daytona 500 next month talk more about your decision with Jeff Gordon set to retire from NASCAR following the 2015 season to create an opportunity for Hendrick Motorsports to introduce phase one in their future moves the support of napa auto parts and other partners of Hendrick Motorsports to famous number 24 would see new life in 2016 partnering of crew chief Alan Gustafson chase Elliott would pilot number 24 for his first two seasons of his career and right off the bat Elliott would make headlines by winning the pole award for the 2016 Daytona 500 goes to the top 45 [Music] that's Alan Gustafson talking to chase his crew chief that was almost two tenths of a second fast okay I figured it out everybody else was doing it long chase Elliott is the youngest ever pole sitter for the Daytona 500 your dad won the pole four times Jeff Gordon won it twice in the 24 no pressure right man this is a very very cool day I don't know that this opportunity is sunk in yet much less sitting on the pole for the Daytona 500 so this is very very cool you know I think the big thing is just the team and you know Daytona 500 qualifying is about the team guys and effort they put into these cars and there's nothing special I did it's really just what what kind of work they did this offseason to make it happen so Jeff knows all about that and I just want to give a big thanks to Knapp Auto Parts and all of our partners at HMS on this 24 cars is very very special and a great way to start a season as 2016 would progress chase Elliott would find himself scoring yet another pole award this time at Talladega Superspeedway and his rookie season would be a solid year as he'd find himself in contention to win some races but in his rookie year none was more close as Michigan 2016 where he finished second both times that season but nine it was more closed in the second Michigan race of 2016 the 24 and got him almost rent Kyle Larson out in front Brad Keselowski running second chase Elliott has fallen to third Fowler he's the vote for a caution run nine clean laps he doesn't want to cost down sorry we won sir is not a got accosted Kyle Larson out in front he's got a good gap white flag in the air one lap to go sponsors like credit one bank one more time around as you mentioned what a shake-up it will be in the chase standings Kyle Larson can get a win and fight for the championship it seasons in the gap staying the same about 1.5 seconds down the backstretch for the final time Kyle Larson from the age of five Kyle Larson has only wanted to be a racecar driver and now as he comes to the checkered flag Kyle Larson's gonna win in the Sprint Cup Series while Kyle Larson would finally establish himself as a Cup Series winner this would be the true beginning of people knowing chase Elliott could win races but it would lead to a longer journey of wondering a win he would find Victory Lane as we see the 24 in the four accelerate they'll have to blend when they come off of turn two it looks like the 24 is gonna have the advantage thanks Elliott looking for his third stage win this season chase Elliott's gonna win stage two showing his dominance on mile-and-a-half the seventieth gives up the playoffs 2017 [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] back to racing Culbertson is a bike rental in vain three-wide is in her turn one here comes chase Elliott he's coming up to second as he tries to get by the 11 and you still see the smoke rolling out the 42 Junior he's been dominant and Trax this time he started 17 for the 78 team to start so far back but they've worked their way to the front the 37 year old from New Jersey coming at a turn for our trick jr. wolf with the Bank of America 500 favorite in the front they don't burn Eliot diamond truck the lesson our guns around Jenny handling all the way down cutting the corner trying to get by the two he does he clears the 24 to be a chase Elliott now chase Elliott puts the bumper to the back of the 11 one would chase Elliott's do [Music] 130 miles an hour's they enter turn three and bumper goes to the back of the 11 again way up the racetrack the 11 you heard the crowd tire smoke coming out of a lemon the page letting them know what they think about that guru chase Elliott racing the 11 aggressively some disappointing second-place finishes for chase Elliott this may top the list if it hit the 20 is able to get line now the 24 dives down below the yellow line trying to find the fastest way around Phoenix ten laps of racing to go this isn't about playoffs this isn't about teammates this is about Matt Kenseth back his career he doesn't know if it he said that so he's been salute to the 24 there comes to the inside the 20 of Kenseth is gonna when you try to make the fan going into thorns away from the 24 favorite seat for the championship for Matt Kenseth one more time around Matt Kenseth eliminated from the playoffs technicality at we're trying to fix the car now trying to get that win in 2017 the 45 year old comes out to turn number four Texas get a win in Phoenix [Music] Brad Keselowski trying to hold on to his post nobody in that front half doesn't is hungry or full width' and chase Elliott man he's in a good position on the inside right behind the leader here hey Bob let's better house get go green white checker green flag you gotta watch the gun out sometimes seen him get aggressive on these restarts make it three wide chase did a great job a block into Jimmy Johnson why well I know that's three or four Wow okay Jimmy Johnson that Kenny fully we're talking about in you I'd mix them all night long and look at him go Hamlin trying to make something happen here from third white flag oh my gosh I can't believe a witch going in three in a row I didn't see this happening when this race started then I compete from 30-second Kyle Busch wins Richmond everybody makes it across the [Applause] while chase Elliott would become the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year his first two seasons would go by and he was still about a Cup Series win but he did win an Xfinity series truck series and K&N race during these years in total chase Elliott would finished second nine times from 2016 to 2018 hitting the round of 12 in the playoffs three times from 2016 to 2018 [Music] it's good to see familiar faces we're here today to confirm the news you received this morning that have decided to make this season my last is a NASCAR Cup driver with the bombshell news that Dale Earnhardt jr. would retire following 2017 he created a new image of Hendrick Motorsports Jimmie Johnson was not in his winning ways anymore Alex Bowman was announced as the next driver number 88 and 2017 Xfinity Series champion William Byron was set to replace Kasey Kahne and Hendrick Motorsports it was also announced that with the availability of the number nine since Richard Petty Motorsports officially released it chase Elliott was set to run a number his father made famous with this move 224 car was assumed by rookie William Byron and the future of Hendrick Motorsports was established as 2018 with advanced chase Elliott would come shy victory lane more and more until one day in upper New York at Watkins Glen the battle came down between chase Elliott and 2017 champion Martin Truex Jr many sat on the edge of their seat hoping that chase Elliott would hit all of his corners correctly and not run out of fuel and on the white flag many got scared when chase Elliott took turn one too hard but were relieved when trucks was also fighting to correct his lap midway through the final lap Martin Truex Jr did run out of fuel but Elliott had just enough to coast into his first career victory at Watkins Glen he's back to two car lengths in front of Truex as they leave the SS bull final time almost getting up the lead in turn one but he's now got another comfortable lead as he breaks it to the inner loop Martin tricks charges hard have tried to gain that ground back no mistakes pay the driver here but chase Elliott a cleaner corner that's about for Carl mix there through the carousel chase Elliott almost home free drinks wine in the corner he looks to be in great shape at the mistake that he made and won again can not be replicated here in turn six 1000 dresses out they'll chase Cadiz Cruz the Victory Lane this spotter brakes are no he's out of fuel chase Elliott comes out of turn number seven the crowd roars they're gonna see chase Elliott weird strategy cap series [Applause] [Music] [Applause] chase Elliott would later backed us up to more victories in the playoffs one at Kansas and one at Dover this solvent presented by step tofu Buick three balls he would long [Applause] it looked as though Elliot had all the momentum he needed going into the round of 8 in 2018 but unfortunately the win of Joey Logano at Martinsville an affordance advantage in wins of Martin Truex Jr Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch would keep chase Elliott out in the 2018 championship for Miami it took Elliott three years to finally create a winning season and so far in 2019 he's continuing to back this up getting three more victories won at Talladega the second at the sight of his first win Watkins Glen just one year later in the third just very recently at the Charlotte Roybal it's been fun getting to watch the rise at this future star of NASCAR but the beauty of it is that it's only just the beginning of much much more [Music] you
