I'll make my welcome to the second episode of super fast DIY where we do DIY we just do it really quickly and try to be informative I say we because you're very important here because you need to point point camera at the right things like the package so this is a package that showed up a while back like six months or something like that and it was just I got an email from a person saying like hey we sell or I sell don't remember killing Boz on Amazon would you like to shake one out and I said yes okay so I guess I'm gonna leave the link in the description because this is a killing by kit that you can buy you want to I have done a lot of contact microphone kalimbas in my days so I want to show you how easy that is to do I think the hardest part is actually opening this tank Gangu or is that trick it's not three markets real per phone coming back it's a tiny Cajon as well but fancy stuff bad orange to that purple pink can't really see you also have a classic killing bar bag this is kind of overkill okay this looks way fancier than I expected because my plan is to kind of saw it in half we fancy presents this is like a crazy case holy I do not deserve I thought it was gonna be some shitty ship thingy that I can just saw in half and show you have to glue I do not think that's the intended use for the hammer could have been one of these hammers this is a really dope hammer there is showing something completely different that you can open and inside there's a screwdriver oh but that's not all because down here there's another screwdriver and down here there's another screwdriver and down here it's a Russian dollop screwdriver okay but yeah this is so what I want to do is make a hole here so I'm guessing we should drill a hole in this one and not take the tiny hammer and smash all that would kind of suck durability test it survived good quality link in description because what we want to do is we want to install a piezo looking like this and when I do it I go with as big as possible and this is 50 millimeters or 800 ohms something something because I work passive so I tried to find as big as possible these disks and just connect them directly to an output and the reason I go with as big as possible is because I go passive so I don't use a preamp buffer thingy analog weapon can make a video for the magpie parts YouTube channel about the XO discs but you get more low-end from a bigger one than a tiny one when you work pass it so you want to have as big as possible to get as much as possible of the tone from the kalimba and not just the tech I mean there's no way for me to get it in here without drilling three stucco GoPro audio for now so bring the mic this is supposed to be respect I need to drill one hole for the output I'm thinking down here probably [Music] thick wood that's gonna be a problem girl just put it in one of those now we have an unnecessary hole here because I mean these are there correct so let's go overkill and I feel that all of a sudden this doesn't really look like a super easy DIY but I mean the way you get inside you just come up with that yourself because there's a lot of ways to get inside [Music] actually glued it inside now son I've been waiting for the glue to dry I'm kind of feeling that to be a super-fast DIY this is not really that fast but if it would have been a solid body kalimba I would have just duct-taped the piezo on the other side like on the backside now I needed to make this whole so if it's a hole of one did you decide how to get inside because you want the piezo snugly as close as possible to to this and especially where the screws go down inside because that will resonate through the metal that it's touching so I glued it to like a piece of wood in there I don't know how much you can see of it also something I didn't touch on it's like polarity on a piezo the ones I ordered already had cables so then it's really easy that red is positive aka signal and black is negative AKA ground so then I can do a solder it to an output where ground this which is touching the sleeve and the positive signal on the tip anyways let's move on to the last step this one already had holes I'm gonna actually use those holes because the hole that I made is way too thick the wood there so I prepared this one when I was waiting for glue it's just a metal it's actually the back plate of a bus pedal when you stamped it but that's the design things it's not really part of the DIY but I'm just gonna screw that one in place [Music] yeah let's touch a little bit on why you want to do this and that is of course because Wow cool but to play this through petals and stuff is really cool adding textures having a spiraling delay or a room reverb thingy that is huge chart spacey effects or even a fuss there's so much you can do as soon as you don't have to mic it up in order to do that you can just plug it in straight into your pedals which is really cool so that's what I'm gonna do now just wanna say when it comes to attaching an output again if this would have been a solid body I could have just taken something like this and just tape that to the side of it like this and also taped the piezo just get the piezo in place and out put in place obviously this looks better even though it's got a big hole it can always cover that up with me before you get what I mean the way you want to design it you can do yourself there's a lot of things when it comes to designing stuff however you want to I'm gonna plug it through pals and show you [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] you
