Greetings my beautiful lovelies! Hello, it's Emmy. Welcome back to another gadget test. Today I'm going to be testing...this! And this little gem is another egg product, and it is the Eggstractor. I found this at my thrift store for a whopping three dollars. And it does say something that it was at the thrift store, right? It probably didn't work -- otherwise they would have kept it, right? So, apparently this Eggstractor is supposed to peel hard-boiled eggs with ease, just by tapping it; strategically placing it on this little tray; and plunging it down with this accordion-like thing. Your egg is supposed to poop right out, all peeled and happy. What's not to love? They give you a little diagram here, explaining how this is supposed to work. What I'm interested in is, if you push this thing down, why doesn't it squash your egg? Or does it? Let's find out. So inside the Eggstractor comes with two parts, this little plunger-downer thing and this kind of sturdy little tray thing. It also came with this instruction sheet with very specific directions on how to prepare the eggs. So the first thing I did was place the eggs into a pot with some cold tap water; and added a heaping teaspoon of salt; brought that up to a boil and then allowed it to boil for six to eight minutes. So after cooling them a little bit in the tap water, I placed the eggs into a bowl of ice water and let them sit in there for ten minutes before I performed the eggstraction. So they are demonstrating this with white eggs, but I thought on camera it would be easier to see using brown eggs. White eggs and brown eggs are identical so this should work...if it does work. A little egg anatomy: there is the pointy side and the round side. It says to take the small end of the egg and tap several times on this thing they're calling the piercer. So several is more than few, so let's say five. One, two.. two, three, four, five. Several times. This is the large end and now we're supposed to tap this on the table a couple times. Couple means two. Do not be timid they say. One, two! Very well cracked I would say. Make sure the small end of the egg is facing upwards when you place it into the base of the Eggstractor. Large end here. Now we're gonna take the top of the Eggstractor, place that on top. Now "criss-cross hands over the top of the Eggstractor and give it one good fast push." "If egg does not pop out the first try, make sure you realign the egg upright." I'm a little bit vertically challenged, so this is quite high on me, so, I'm gonna grab a step stool. Suddenly I am taller.... Okay, criss-cross palms. Ready? Here we go! One, two.. *sounds of Eggstractor bouncing across the floor* That.. didn't work. Cut. Come with me. Look, the egg is peeled, wooow. Do we call that a success? So that was a bit of a disaster -- the parts went flying everywhere -- but the egg did get kind of peeled, but let's try again. Good thing I did five eggs. One, two, three, four, five. Take the round end, a couple times. One.. One, two. Place Eggstractor on top. Criss-cross palms. Push down swiftly. Uhhh... Nnnnoo dice. Let's move the tray out of the way, maybe that's making the slippage. Alright, realign the egg. Let's try again! Ready? One, two.. Ugh.. No! Okay, let's try again. No! Am I just not, like, brutish enough for this? Okay, let's try it again. No, it's not working, what?! Maybe if I try it on the floor. It's still not tall enough, maybe I need, maybe I need a taller step stool. Ha ha ha! Alright, let's try this. Ready? That sounded better. No, that almost got it. Alright, let's try it again. Alright, ready? Oh, yes! Dun dun, you're trying to hide from me, aren't you egg? Yeeeees! It sort of worked I think. Look! Dun Dun Dun Duun, Dun D- Duun! Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun. That's pretty cool -- a hollowed out egg. And there is the pooped out egg! Well, it does still have some shell on it, doesn't it? But it sort of worked! You just have to stand on the step stool so you have to be like minimally six feet tall for this to work. Honestly... Let's try it again. So how many attempts was that for the last one? Five, I believe -- five squish-downs for an egg? Hmm.. One, two, three, four, five. One, two Alright. Lined up in the middle; push our Eggstractor on top; get yourself a step stool. Push. HARD!. Yeees! I had to push down twice for that one, but look... There's the egg. Soo... it came out, but it didn't really come out all the way, look, I've got a beautiful hollowed out egg again, but this still has some on top. So you still have to peel with your fingers. Okay, that doesn't work that great. So it gets about 80% of the shell off. Alright, and a little bit of shell gets into the egg white. Alright, let's try it again. This time the egg is wet. Let's see if that does anything different. One, two, three, four, five. One, two. Fat side down. Eggstractor. Step stool. Criss-cross. Nuuuhhh.. It never comes out on the first try. Ohh! Ooh! Look at that. So this kind of gives you the play-by-play of what happens. So I guess when you plunge it you're actually forcing it through this hole and it's supposed to tear out and force it through, but look, this one tore out. Yup. This is getting kind of progressively worse, isn't it? Alright, I have one egg left. One, two, three, four, five. One, two. Line it up. Eggstractor. Step stool. Nope, criss-cross! Alright. Criss-cross! Ohhh, yes! So, again, that took two attempts, and again it has... its top still on. Yeah, you still have to peel it and...it's cracked. These are my final results: number one, where it flew off the counter -- no. Number two -- it got most of the shell off. Number three -- it got the shell off, but I had to peel off about 20% of it. Four -- it actually broke the egg and the shell; most of the shell remained, and I had to peel it off. Number five, again, I had to peel off about 20% of it and the egg was cracked at the top. So, in summary, would I purchase this or recommend purchasing this? Absolutely not. If you have the right egg boiling technique there's no reason why you would need this at all. You can just use your very lovely fingers that are attached to your hands, to peel an egg very very easily. So if you want to learn that technique, be sure to check out my EGGIES video where I use that technique against another egg-cooking gadget called the EGGY. So that was the Eggstractor -- there never seems to be enough egg cooking/extracting gadgets. So let me know in the comments what your favorite ones are, or if there's one I should test out. And yeah, thanks so much for joining me; hope you guys enjoyed that one; I hope you guys learned something, be sure to share this video with your friends and follow me on social media -- if you follow my Instastory at all, you would have seen little sneak peeks of all my testings and tastings and yeah! I shall see you in my next one. Toodle-oo! Take care. Byeee! *outro music* Sulfurous, it smells sulfurous.
