Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
Lots o' parts? Neat. Mostly recovered by desoldering? Whoa.
Whoa.
Dave is my spirit animal.
Is "moving overseas" an Australian euphemism for "died"? I guess Dave didn't want to dwell on the fact it was apparently an estate sale. No one who invested what must have been a tenth of their life in desoldering would leave that to be auctioned off by non-electronics people.
A meticulously organized, vast collection of parts, but all of them are through-hole, and all are recovered by desoldering? Clearly this is hell.
I'm not sure the point of the UV lighting in the test room? Focused UV could be used to erase old EEPROMs and such, but I doubt you'd wire a whole room for that. It's pretty destructive. Maybe it was his way of maintaining a farmer's tan while during a decidedly indoor lifestyle?
"All toobs!"
wha...
Wonder what he made, or maybe he sold/gave parts to people needing particular ones? Or maybe he was just a bit crazy? Or maybe desoldering and organization was his way of meditating* .. lol. Thought his name had special meaning or something.
Kansas preemptively wrote a song about this guy, way back in 1977.
