[Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] i have no clue where that was going it was just the first thing i played what's up everybody welcome back to another video hey we're back at lessons i think i'm going to try to finish the week strong maybe three different lesson videos for you some riffs all that good stuff we're going to see what's going on obviously this whole week is in support of my big old guitar course sale that's going on if you're interested in checking them out right now they're hugely discounted rockmore bootcamp for beginners fifty percent off the eight course bundle more intermediate to advanced guitars eighty percent off um that's going to run until sunday and uh there's gonna i'm gonna do a live clinic uh for each course so that's my spiel we got it out of the way that's all linked down below in the description today today i'm talking fast fired up uh we're gonna do easy licks that sound advanced now i did one of these a long time ago this might be the third in this series i'm not sure yet but um you guys always seem to dig them so i was like hey i got i got more licks i can do this so here we go if you want tabs it's all linked down below and we're gonna dive on into these there's four licks for you that sound to me more advanced than they actually are the concepts are pretty pretty simple so let's get it looking for one is one of my most favorite daggone blicks here it is right here [Music] there you have it like i said it's just as fast you know kind of like blur blurry blur of notes um i got this from eddie van halen and you know eddie kind of doesn't his panda muscle down here and nuno does a very similar look i'll show you kind of both versions of it uh up here and just get the funk out you know that's not it you know something like that so what i'm doing here is i'm only picking one note so kind of the key to the lick for me is these hamrons from nowhere and using some muting because it makes very simple on your it's kind of stuff on both hands really now i'm kind of thinking about it basically the the notes are this i'll pick them out and i'll show you exactly how i'm picking i'm playing 12 on the high e string okay then i go to 15 to 12 on the b 14 on the g okay and i just cycle through those now i'm only picking the first note so i only pick 12. i do bar my finger here so i go up pick on that 12 i hammer on from nowhere to 15 pull off the 12 hand run from over again to 14 on the g so it's like this [Music] which sounds cool picked um i just kind of like always did it like this and i'm just adding some palm muting to clean it up because if you don't sometimes the notes will kind of like ring out but um like so that's really the lick right there i just go pick [Applause] hardest part is probably getting used to those ham runs from nowhere if you're not used to it but um you know you can slide this lick around like i said eddie kind of does it down here in this b position uh noodle does it in g uh with your flat five so you can take the same exact lick that we're doing [Music] okay so there's the lick well instead of going right here just go up to your flat five so we go to 15 on the g [Applause] [Music] same same concept um then i'm thinking about it it's kind of what i do for my george lynch lick too that he does in mr scooter um yeah it's similar very similar so you can kind of use this lick all over the place if you want that frigid almost sounding george lynch thing or minor pentatonic or blues like the noodle one so that's the first one i always thought it sounded really crazy and i learned it i'm like that's all that's happening [Music] next is kind of a um a version of a phil x lick i got this from phil and i always love the way this lick just kind of sounds he does it much cooler than i do but this is kind of my version of his lick [Music] you know i i always heard that and i didn't really know what he was doing but i just thought it sounded so cool now i do it all all over the place you know um and the way i'm kind of doing this i just go through my pentatonic scale and i just make sure that my two out notes are my like these notes here [Music] are n key and then the middle note really doesn't matter so um i always said it sounded way more difficult then i kind of like i learned one of his actual licks and then this is just like i said my little version of it but um basically i'm thinking all e minor pentatonic i'm up here and i'm going to play uh you can do offs or pick whatever you feel comfortable with uh 11 to 9 on the d and then 12 to 9. and that's literally the pattern [Music] move up uh to the g string okay same frets 11 9 12 9. then i'm going to go 11 to 10 12 to 10 11 10 12 10. resolve it oh sorry there you go uh then you can almost run it into like a doug aldridge thing this could be another like all of its own doug this is really cool kind of like rainy road licking his playing [Music] like number three is the diminished our page i remember i learned this um maybe a couple years ago i never really thought about this being a diminished arpeggio right here in the shape it was in because a lot of people know this shape you know your good old major arpeggio maybe a c major if you move everything up a string it turns it diminished [Music] the difference always just sounds cool and fancy even if there's not a whole lot going on so um you don't have to necessarily sweep this one the way that i am doing because sweeping does make it more difficult but but even i like to throw it into normal pentatonic stuff if i'm being honest um i do a lot of diminishing inside my that's all diminished [Music] okay so i do the same thing here [Music] yep diminished and i roll it back into my pentatonic you know it's all over the place but anyways the way i'm doing this is just 15 to 12 on the b 13 on the g and then 12. and it cycles then you have to re-ascend it so back to 13 back to 12 and you repeat it now the cool thing about diminish um like i said you just move it up or down three frets so it really sounds like you're doing a lot but you're really not you know it's pretty simple and i have a few you know diminished shapes that i use um that i like to tie this one in with so [Music] it has a cool vibe to it so vintage there you have it but that one's just a fun one all right the last one i want to leave you with here maybe maybe i've done some of these before i i don't know i said at this point we're like 2 000 videos in i don't remember what i showed you guys or not but this is always just one of my favorite shapes um to use and it's just one of my favorite chords and all that good stuff it's um it's an add nine chord basically and you guys hear me talk about these all the time uh i just it's just the sound that i like you know you take a major chord add your second or your ninth and um and you know you're golden so what i like to do is this oh you know what this is technically it's a sus two not an add nine um because i just realized there's no third i'm replacing the third with the two so so it's sus2 my other favorite chord um so we're gonna do an e sus2 arpeggio here so i'm going to play 14 on the d and then 16 on the g and then uh 17 on the b [Music] and then 14 on the high string okay let me check to make sure that that is where i did that one at because i might have tabbed it out differently i did i tied it out differently so i'll show you how i did it in the tab so in the tabs i actually did a dsus2 the one i just showed you was esosus2 this is a dsus2 i'm starting on 12. [Music] okay so this one fits nicely inside of your you know e minor pentatonic but technically it is outlining um a d sus two uh arpeggio or chord so the way it's tabbed out is 12 on the d 14 on the g 15 and then i go to 12 on the high street [Music] i always thought that just sounds cool you know it's not very difficult one one note per string can be a little bit of a challenge but you can move this around and outline different chords so like if i wanted to do something like um [Music] you know it says the cool cool vibe [Music] and then diminished you know had to do diminish [Music] so that's it guys thank you all so much for tuning in hope you enjoy these licks you know maybe add a little a little bit to the repertoire of all your little fancy fancy picking if you guys want to you can check out those guitar courses they're all linked down below they're on sale till sunday like i said if you want to get that live clinic um they will be included in there and um i think that's gonna be it yep that's it i'm out of here bye guys i'll lay down some rhythm for you enjoy the rest of your day and uh yo play some guitar i'll give you some e minor riffer rooneys that way you can play some of those licks over if you want to so here you guys go [Applause] [Music] um foreign [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] you
