some of you guys and you have bought all the curriculum you got everything that you need and now what do you do with it so in this video i am going to share with you how we organize our homeschool curriculum not only in our homeschool room but throughout the house as we need it and i'm excited because this is a collab with my sweet friend megan over at pennies and salt if you haven't checked out her channel please do megan has six adorable kids and she has been doing this homeschooling thing for a while megan also has a music degree and she has just started a series on how to teach your kids music in your homeschool so i will leave her channel link down below plus her video about homeschool organization so you can go check those out i'm sure that she has plenty of wisdom to share so definitely do that so since we were both doing homeschool organization type videos we'd figure we'd do a collab and put them together so that way you get two resources for the price of one so i'm excited to go check out megan's homeschool organization organization just ah i love it and maybe you're the type of person that loves organization or maybe you're not and that's okay don't worry you can still homeschool and have a successful homeschool even if you don't like to you know have everything in its place so the system line that i'm going to show you today is very simple and very easy and has everything for the most part in one place that's what i love about it that's my model have everything in one place so you don't have to worry about going around the house and trying to figure out where everything is so what i'm going to do is i'm going to turn the camera around and i'm going to show you how i organize our curriculum okay you guys so the bin that i wanted to show you today was solomon's and he is my first grader and basically everything that we use within a day is in here except for handwriting and i will show you where i put handwriting in just a bit so what i used to do is i used to take the math manipulatives from the good and the beautiful math activity pack and i used to be able to put them all in here and they fit so nicely so everything that's in here fit really well on the top right here or inside the bottom but because i am having two kids um that are going to be in math level one this year at the same time and this is also for math level two then i needed a central place to have all of the math manipulatives and i show how i organize these math manipulatives in my second grade curriculum picks video and then i show how i organize the level k math manipulatives in my first grade um curriculum video so i will leave those videos down below so you can check those out so i'm not going to be going through this today but like i said i will leave that down below if you want to check that out but i wanted to show you inside this bin um so that way you can see how i organize everything and how easy it is to keep it all in one place and i love this bin if you pick it up you can go and you can have school outside you can go and have school in another place in the house once my kids get old enough and they can go to their room and have school they can just take this and i know that they have everything that they need in one place in order to do that so i'm going to go ahead and open this up for you and these bins are the latch mate bins from michaels and they're usually on sale and i have them linked below so that way you can go and check them out if you want i think they are the 14.5 quart bins so they have these they have bigger ones and then they have smaller ones that all have the same kind of container on the top and so what i have in here is i have his flash cards that he's using and i just have them all in this um index card holder and i have a marked learning not learning and mastered and basically they're all mastered at this point and we're just kind of going through them again for level k when i first put them all in they go under this not learning tab and then i only take out about five or so and i put them into this learning tab so every time that we go through you can see there's some already in there um then when when it's time to do his flash cards i just pulled these out and then if he has mastered them then i put them in the back here and i always try to keep about five five to ten it kind of just depends on if he is familiar with him or not but i try to keep about five there so if there's one that he has mastered then i'll put that one in the back and then just switch another one over to this section here if that makes sense so every time he's doing flash cards he is doing about five of them and this i just got at staples right now you could probably get it you know anywhere like walmart or target or michael's actually had some cute ones but i didn't see any boy ones actually so never mind um these are here are the um place value chart pieces for the math activity box each of them has their own place value chart so i do have this in there for them um oh and then these were just kind of extra pockets because i had extra pockets from a new one and then i keep all of his mini books right here the one on top is the one that we are going to read next and then when we finish i just slide it right here in the back so all of his um mini books are right here in this baggie and sorry something else that should be in here it wasn't in here right now but i grabbed it his scissors so he should have some pair of scissors in there and then i also have this ruler and this is mostly just for fun i think math level one calls for a ruler at some point but um yeah they each have just a little ruler they have scotch tape because they get so frustrated when they tear things like if they're trying to cut something and it tears and so what would happen is that i would try to like find scotch tape all over the house and you know that would kind of waste a little bit of time so i decided to put scotch tape in each of their bins so that way if something like that happens or if we need scotch tape for whatever reason then it's right here i don't have to go searching around the house or even have to get up from the table to have scotch tape and then this i have a paper towel and this is kind of a left over it's it's a new paper towel but the idea is a leftover idea from um we used to use handwriting without tears so i used to have a little like chalk and you know that little sponge eraser um for the chalkboard and then i had a paper towel in there to erase the chalkboard but what i've also started using the paper towel for is i will take it and say there is a page that has a lot of wording on it and he's starting to get a little bit overwhelmed with the amount of reading that he is going to have to do i will take this and i will cover some of the words up so that way he doesn't get too overwhelmed and then he can stay focused on just reading whatever it is that he's reading at the moment and so i had the old paper towel in there and so when i cleaned everything out i put in a new paper towel specifically for that reason and i mean you can use anything you can use a piece of paper you can use whatever but i like the idea of the paper towel because i can make it small like this or i can make it you know i can open it up and make it bigger just depending on how many words there are on the page so over here i've got a pencil sharpener for him a pom pom for the dry erase board and a dry erase marker and i've got beans these are just manipulatives he he likes manipulatives a lot and i use these for like if he does have just like a lot of words on the page then whenever he reads the word we put beans on the word and so that just kind of gives him a hand a hands-on thing to do while he's reading and then we have buttons in here which are kind of the same idea okay so now that i've shown you everything in here let's go ahead and lift this up and then in here is where we have all of his books and so here is his student notebook which i do a flip through of this in my first grade curriculum video and again i'll link that down below so you can check this out i use this to go along with the language arts from the good and the beautiful and then we also have a dry erase board this one is actually a leftover from last year um because this was only the only like boy one i could find i did get some like thicker ones from walmart and i think those will work just fine but i'm kind of saving those like if this dry erase board um kind of gets a little bit too dirty you know throughout the year or whatever i'm gonna then i'll be able to put those other ones in and i'll have an extra one i don't have to run out and get some i also got some of these like this there's a four pack at michael's in their back to school section but those were all really girly so so i got this one for him and then we've got his course book so then we've got his level k for right now and we've got his calendar and in his place value chart and his um math so yeah so you can see how everything fits in very nicely and sometimes just depending on what we do first like sometimes we'll do math first in which case i'll make sure to have the calendar right on top and then i can just have it you know right on top for the next day so that way i don't have to like take everything out the morning of and you know everything is kind of in its place you know stacked the way that we are going to use them so yeah guys so this is the bin super easy super simple um i think these bins are usually about 14.99 but i have never paid 14.99 for one of these bins they are always on sale or michael's always has some really great coupons and then these um i got it target but i believe they have some at michael's also where it's just kind of a chalk label and then that way i can just put their name on their individual bins okay so now that i've shown you what we do in our school room and how i organize the curriculum that goes into the school room i do want to mention about our handwriting we do do that every day and we tend to do that around the table or they do it kind of in their rooms or wherever i have them do it but we definitely start with handwriting over here so instead of having them go and take it out of their bins which they're still kind of small to do that the bins can get a little bit heavy and they lock on really well and so sometimes they can't open them on their own and so what i did is i actually put the handwriting in here so everything for handwriting that they need goes into this cabinet right here i have their crayons right there with the labels i got the labels at michaels and then all of their handwriting is here and then they also have pencils that always stay with their handwriting books because what was happening is their pencils were in their bins or in the school room and they just kept having running back and forth and so i just have three pencils right here ready to go if they need to i don't have a handwriting book for my smallest one because while they do their handwriting that's when i'm doing school with my toddler i also have their book or their bible right here because we do devotionals in the morning at the table i also wanted to show you guys down at the bottom this is where i keep the toddler bins for my toddler because i usually have her come into the living room to do this and i couldn't find a very good place in the school room they don't fit in the little cubby shelves that we have from ikea and so um i just put them in here and then that way too she can actually go in here and grab the one that she needs or the one that she wants or the kids can help her grab it also so if i say abby you know go get her tuesday's been then she knows how to come and find tuesday's bin and she can get it for adeline and start playing with her if i need time to work with my older kids and i have a whole video on what is in these bins i'm actually going to probably switch it out soon and i will have an updated video on that but if you want to see what i have been using in these bins then i will leave that link down below so you can go and check it out and then everything else as far as science and history and everything else is in our morning basket which is right in here and i have a video about our morning basket and i will leave it down below on how we use all of this throughout the week i also do um one of these bins for their science if we are doing a science unit from the good and the beautiful and i have again a video of how i organize all of this and how i organize a science unit from the good and the beautiful and again i will leave that linked down below all right you guys well i hope you enjoyed this video and i hope that it was helpful and it gave you some idea on how you can organize your own curriculum again i will have everything in the that i use down in
