hello everyone welcome back to my channel i'm rebecca keppel in today's video we're going to talk about craft cart organization i purchased a three-tier rascog cart from ikea years ago and it has held many different supplies over the years but lately it's turned into a bit of a dumping zone i felt like it was either time to get organized or time to get rid of the card so i'm gonna share how to go from this to this with just a few affordable extra supplies i'm gonna turn my craft cart from a nightmare into an organized dream so let's get started by taking everything out of the cart that's there and laying it across my desk to see what i really truly need and what can go when i said i was using my craft cart as a dumping zone i was not kidding this random assortment of watercolor pencils string sharpeners photo props it was a real mess and this is just a tip of the iceberg of what was inside the cart what i had just been storing in there i decided to place some of these things in other spots that were better served to hold them and then i made plans for what i did want to keep in the cart and where i thought i would keep them inside the cart what tier they would be on and how i would organize them within the cart i purchased a couple of organizers from we are memory keepers including the a la carte cart accessory kit which includes a cart pocket a small hanging cup a large hanging cup and six hooks as well as i also purchased a pack of two cart dividers which you can see here the dividers have magnets on each end and they are adjustable as i'll show you later in the video i actually didn't know they were adjustable at the time i was showing them to you here i find that out later so you can use them in either direction this is the craft pocket it has two grommet enforced rings at the top and then there are several elastic hooks at the top you could stick scissors in there or large brushes there's a clear pocket here and there's also a canvas pocket here and both pockets kind of expand outwards so this whole organizer can hold a ton of stuff outside the cart then there are cups hanging cups and hooks here are the hooks there are six of them and you can see you can hang things like scissors on them this is the large hanging cup and these hanging cups are great because they can hook on the outside of the cart which gives you more storage space inside plus when they unhook they can sit flat on your desk so you can use the supplies on your desk and then return them to the storage cart in the small cup i placed my polychromos pencils and some pencil stubs for blending i also placed the sandpaper in there for extra sharpening or getting rid of the end of the pencil stubs there even in this small sized cup i was able to fit a bunch of colored pencils and supplies and again i really love how this can sit flat on my desk while i'm using them but then return to the cart when i'm done for the large hanging cup i decided to store all the extraneous markers that up until now were just thrown in a pile on the second tier of my cart this includes everything from cleaning clear brush pens spectrum noir glitter pens sharpies and more i love how storing everything this way lets me see all the colors at a glance okay so now that my cart is totally empty let me show you how cool the adjustable dividers are they simply slide open to make them larger or slide in to make them smaller and the magnets on the side stick to your cart it can be used horizontally or vertically they can still move around a little bit because the magnets aren't that strong but with something like this felt it's the perfect amount of resistance to keep them organized and in place and it leaves plenty of room next to it for my storage case of embroidery threads since i don't do a ton of stitching all the time i'm going to move these items and the divider to the bottom tier of my cart at the top i'm going to place my foils in their original tube packaging i have these stored in a fridge bin that is slightly taller than the one that i use for my stamps or dies so it keeps these tubes contained and they don't fall out this bin fits perfectly on the side of the top tier of my cart i have another of the same size bins to store other items like glitter glitz gel some extra ultra bond of course my favorite pixie spray and my stencil pal and some other mixed media items i love that these bins have handles so that i can easily pick them up and take them over to my desk i placed the second cart divider next to those bins at the top and it makes the perfect compartment for some tape runner refills and then also for some dot roller adhesive refills as well the small hanging cup clips right to the outside of the cart which again gives me all that extra room inside it is sturdy once it's on there but it is really easy to just lift it right off when you need it it does look like i'm struggling to get it on here but that's because i'm leaning over the top of the cart so that you can see what i'm doing but it's really very easy to do i decided to put my large hanging cup on the other side of the cart so that i would have room for the cart divider on the top tier as well again this would have been much easier to do if i were facing the edge i was hooking the cup onto it really is very simple i love that that top level already looks so much more organized and i have room for all those markers foils and adhesives now let me show you the hooks you simply slide the back of the hook over the lip and then it just pops into place it can still slide from side to side but it's not coming off unless you take it off i used the hooks to hang the cart pocket and i decided to hang that cart pocket from the two hooks on the end of the cart and now i just have to figure out what to store inside there i put two more hooks on the other side of the cart on one i have a large binder ring that i use to hold some washi and i'll link to my other organization video where i share all the products i store on those rings on the other hook i have my favorite large gold scissors that just take up way too much room in my desk drawer i have one more large fridge bin that is the size i use to store my stencils and 6x6 pads in in this one i store my easy cut adhesive sheets my six by six flock sheets and my six by six foils that are packaged flat this whole bin is going on the second tier of my cart i'll be able to flip through it there or take it out and bring it to my desk if need be on the last side of the card i've placed two more hooks and i'm storing two more large pairs of scissors that i don't use that often that's my large pinking shears and the other is my martha stewart fringe scissors i still have a pretty large spot on the second tier next to that bin there and i found it was the perfect size for my epson picture mate printer i was able to fit the cords behind the printer and the photo paper next to it as well i rolled up my large pieces of felt and put those on the bottom with the thread and small felt squares for the cart pocket i'm using the elastic hooks to store extra pairs of tim holtz scissors some water brush pens that i don't use that often but i don't want to get rid of and the clear pocket holds my we r memory keepers fuse tool of course it will have to be 100 cooled off before going back in there and the bottom pocket holds my glue gun and the cord for it and extra glue sticks as well so you can see i am now holding a ton of supplies in this cart everything from markers to adhesives to a printer to foils flock threads felt and scissors and so much more and it looks neat and organized for once these few organizing supplies helped me pull this all together i am so happy with how my craft cart turned out with just a little bit of organization and a few extra storage supplies if you have some other ideas on how to organize your craft card please leave them in the comments below
