hello and welcome in this video you will learn the easiest way to package a project in a real file here i have my third person template we can see that it works so if i wanted to package it i just need to find the button called platforms find the device i want to package it for windows in my case and here is the package project button i can select the binary configuration between shipping and development but first before packaging we need to see the packaging settings here we can tell unreal if we want to use a pac file how to store it a more interesting settings but before packaging here in the project settings i need to be sure that in maps and mode there is a game default mode the template default won't cut it i want this map that is called third person example map let's set it up third person example map and i want a game mode that will use this this character this right here and the way this is set up is that this character here in the details if i search for possess the it's being auto-possessed so it will work if i don't set up the game mode correctly but if this wasn't the case i would need to delete this character create a game mode and in my game mode set up the third person character so here in my project settings this game mode can be the for example the third person game mode but with this map there is no problem it will work like this so now that the game map is set up i would only need to press package project and wait so the video shouldn't hear right but being the early access i i faced some problems so let's press package project it will say that the sdk for windows is not installed properly and i i need that to generate some data and yeah i should check on this section launch and menu in the main toolbar to update sdk i can attempt to package the project anyway so if i press continue it will prompt me to select a folder where the package bill will be saved i've created a folder called called builds select project select folder and it shows like it's complete but if we show the output log it really isn't complete a fatal error occur so how do we fix this well the real community has the solution for you here in this post that i will be sure to link in the description below the user here on reddit was also unable to package a project and he gave us some steps so first we need to fix this dll file that in my output log it seems that it's not being it's not being found we can go to the to the root here engine binaries thirdparty.net windows and i'll try to find it let me open up where my engine is stored or it should be here in the output log see program files you can copy this don't copy that dot but and in the windows explorer you can paste it let's go as steps back binaries i wanted third party i believe third party.net windows host binaries third party net windows post fxr 3.1 and here it is and i need to copy it in engine binaries.net automation tool engine binaries.net.net automation tools and i can paste it here here it is now if i try to package again my project and i press continue again so the folder it seems that that the this hosts file is now been found it's not asking for it anyway anymore but the framework version 3.1.0 was not found and here we have the the url that we can use to download it so let's do that in firefox let's open it download it let's download it and we will install it let's close it and let's try again let's see if we can do it even without closing up unreal package project continue select the folder and now it seems that it's actually packaging the project so that's the easy way well easy if we if we didn't have the error of fixing the that host file and installing what we needed to install but that's the easy way to package a project fast and simple and now here it is it finished i paused the recording so here it should pop up that the the build is finished and here in the output log we can see more details about the packaging build successful some stats and if i go to to my folder this is not the folder let me find it builds we will have a folder called windows it's no longer called windows no editor it's called windows so here if i double click it i have my cool project and how much is it well this is the size is being packaged because i have added the third person project and the starter content that this that is almost like 700 megabytes or something like that so it's it's really not optimized but i can share dx the executable and yeah that would be it in next videos we will learn other ways to package projects in unreal engine
