My favorite thing about adding mike is the โ€œin this videoโ€ section, itโ€™s a really nice addition to the content

@35:58 Sounds like maybe new wheels on the car? Would be sick if he got a Rays sponsorship.

fasten your seat belt [Music] stop pulling your own hey guys welcome to today's video we've done a lot of videos at the compound that involve the compound but not a lot about working on cars so today is going to be our first mic fasten your seat belt i hope you learned your lesson i hate this beep i'm waiting back to my video so we've been making a lot of videos about compound related stuff not about building cars at a compound while we've been playing around with go-karts and a lot of other stuff there's actually been quite a bit going on between the s15 with formula drift right around dude i will freaking crash right into this ac unit that taylor's already crashed into once oh my god i can't do anything worse all right back to my video so we're going to work on cars or actually we're going to tell you all the work that's been done on cars um while we've been playing around and doing non-car related stuff so formula drift is right around the corner best 15 mechanically is pretty much done it's now aesthetic stuff for the most part we'll show you guys updates on that but the e36 has got a new engine and it's spicy johan's been doing work on that thing and i can't wait for you guys to see how rad is coming out all right so we're gonna start off with the e36 and then at the end of the video we'll give you some updates to the spice the s15 so if you remember the last time we kind of filmed with this thing it was right before clutch kickers we went to start it and it was down a cylinder and it turned out that i had a bad engine so we wound up taking the s15 just because of time reasons and not wanting to do an overnight engine swap but now we've had time and john has been working diligently to reveal the brand new 2jz so john the jay-z expert has been helping us put together kind of an engine based on a lot of parts we had laying around so now we officially have our first 2j head so hopefully this thing won't kind of choke the car out like the 1j head was on the 3 liter bottom end so no more one and a half jay z um john this thing's got some 272 bc cams yep bc rods sippy pistons no i don't remember what this bottom end has yeah it's got this is a forged bottom then so we're we're looking good hopefully now it stays cool unless the eg egt stays low air temps seem low so one thing that will help with that too we switch from the g3770 which is like you know kind of a good size turbo for 2j but definitely on the smaller side up to the g35 900 so be able to kind of make the same power at lower boost the other thing that we did on it is hard to see from here but um before the radiator used to be mounted to the front of the bumper support and in order to do any service to the front of the engine the whole front had to come apart so to make that easier i mounted the radiator to the frame rails um from the bottom so so those brackets are bolted up and i use some um not inserts on the chassis so all you have to do is drain the coolant remove the hoses unplug the fans the radiator drops right down the whole front end stays on the car we can service the motor do whatever we need to do and it goes back the same way it would have been cool to run a plasma man intake manifold on this because it would look beautiful but because of the brake booster um it was just way easier to stick with stock manifold so i wish we got footage of it but you cracked open the sandblaster and used it and yeah does it just work yeah it it works they need some maintenance because they do you have to step on on top of the sandblasting units because it's just sand blowing everywhere and that sand wears down the hoses the pipe down there this sucks all the sand up you know it looks good other little new bits uh d-shrek's actually just released a bunch of new fuel rails it's going to be hard for you to see but the 2j1 looks beautiful and we actually needed it because we needed to run different injectors in a different fuel rail because the 1j1 doesn't work with the 2j setup but that looks really nice i have these little reinforcements too my struts are about to blow through the shock tower so pbm makes these little plates you guys already know i talk about in all the builds but heat management is really really important especially with drift cars because of how hot everything gets dei you guys know i always talk about all the cool products they make from the velcro sleeving to the sleeving that you put on when you're making lines turbo shields um exhaust header wrap and i'm proud to announce that they are actually now an official sponsor of my fd program so super cool um especially since we've been using their products for years and now having them on board i'm super excited they've been sending us some really cool stuff to play with that we haven't even seen before that we're going to start using a lot of builds and kind of share with you guys so we'll go into a little bit more detail on some of their products that we used on the 15 but on this i mean i guess the only other really stuff and you had to redo the intercooler piping this looks really nice how you did it on the elbow here and kind of coned it out yeah i like the cast on the compressor right similar to the r32 um we did that pipe used some of the old ones stuff on the bottom so i and then um the downpipe four inch downpipe i don't know if you mentioned that but we switched to a four inch downpipe and if you could fit your fist in it yeah go make some power let me tell you yeah and then oh the manifold too i guess yeah i have the dock manifold sitting on the shelf and it was supposed to be what was going to go on the chaser but unfortunately you know this was more important and i wanted to drive this in clutch kickers i don't want to risk the 15 again so we had that laying around and i know we had to like get some 2j parts from random people but between all of us and all our friends and random stuff we had laying around we were able to kind of throw this thing together but that's the biggest drawback of going the three leader head is just that you have to do different manifolds and that was the lure of the one and a half jays we could keep the same manifold turbo set up didn't have to redo everything um but now uh oh yeah and we have the old valve covers from the s15 which have some cool little baffles in them we got the nice little radium fittings um yeah it's like the mini it's like actually now the mini s15 like we always said that but i'm so excited for them to hear it yeah oh and you guys know like here you wanna you wanna pop this thing up in there so you could see what's hiding underneath her skirt yeah i wonder is more unfortunately we've set the bar so high that now pretty much any car that we do needs titanium exhaust and john out did himself on another car one thing even though the other end didn't really blow it's always a good idea to change the oil coolers because you're getting metal or debris so we've got a new fresh mishimoto oil cooler in there um oh you can see from here that mounts all the radiator mounts you're talking about yeah so it's easier the accessible 10 millimeter bolt on both sides it's just now two bolts on each side here you can see also the oil pan it's like a million times better it's freshly painted too but i don't like using paint but it was in a rough condition so we had a time blasting you can't leave it there because then it will get easier easier dirty easier if i watch out dude it might get easier easier it might get easier easier hopefully soon we can powder coat stuff here yeah yeah that's good because i used to particles and stuff so i'm excited yeah you know powder coat all the pie cuts everything yeah i'm talking about pike lights i don't know if we used to have an ati damper on this car but she got a damper but check out this this bad girl so the whole thing pie cuts here there's none as we didn't need to do pie cuts here so i just like cut angle to find the where the sauce needed to go to and i just cut in an angle maybe the sauce it looks clean less well one less well and then just follow through um we ran out of material so we just decided to put a turn down from oh yeah this is from the supra and actually this whole exhaust is leftover material from the r34 so uh nothing but the finest vibrant stuff um we luckily over ordered when we were doing that exhaust and had some laying around otherwise we probably would have nah i probably still would have wanted done titanium just because i'm such a weight when it comes to this car and it had a tank one three this is the old one like it's i mean this is obviously three inch but like like really light yeah that was not titanium but uh yeah we'll probably end up doing a similar tip to before and it'll look all cool um yeah you know i did just realize this looks like is this a dash six feed that yep so that might be part of the reason why what you guys are about to see so this is kind of one of those fun videos where we've been like kind of stacking footage on the side so this car's already hit the dyno we've already made power with it and we've already figured out the issues that it has and one of them is that it started running out of fuel with a new setup and probably use some bigger line because i think i think the dw-400 should do 750 on e but the dash 6 feed with e is kind of a little small it's pushing it yeah definitely other than that i think the only thing really left on this car that needs to be improved eventually the this trans is kind of our weak point as we know already but hopefully the clutch damper will help a little bit with that hopefully i know break it transmission um coil packs though or another thing we still got stock coils on this are they the same 1j to 2j pretty much yeah so as far as i know yes this car you guys are about to see made some pretty good power and we're pushing the limits of the stock coil pack so hopefully checking a new set and we'll fix some of the issues that you guys are about to see us having on the dyno enjoy so we just got back from an undisclosed location there's a bunch of videos that we've been stacking up that i can't post for a very complicated reason but nonetheless i didn't get to hear the e36 first start with the new engine setup uh because we weren't there but i'm about to hear it for the first time and we're about to throw it on the dyno i know this is in the middle of the video so it doesn't really make much sense but hopefully it'll make sense when you guys finish watching this video but um it's got a 2j head now some big cams a little bit bigger turbo she's gonna wreck [Music] so in addition to the 2j head we also went up to the g35 it's got kind of a hodgepodge of random parts we had laying around vc rods dc 272 cams some other special sauce but listen to this thing [Music] [Music] [Music] you guys might notice we're at a different diner than usual um you've been watching for a while we're actually at phillips our buddy lewis over here um actually put in the dino so he's got his own dino now and we've just been using titan a lot i feel kind of bad sometimes going there after hours and freddie was already here doing another car so he's easier to bring it here and hop on the dino since everything's all set up i'm excited to see what she's gonna make [Music] big earthquake guy a big earthquake guy i don't know if we decided to put the numbers on the dino stuff so i don't know if you guys can tell that there's a difference with the amount of power the car made but it did make a little bit more than it did before the beautiful thing is usually we would have to go to osw rent out the track drive there bring everyone there and it'd be a massive pain but the beauty is we've just uh kind of revised a few things stole the coil packs out of the chaser which are brand new oem ones um just simpler than doing any sort of conversion right now we can just test it right in our own parking lot so that's what we're going to do we're going to test the brand new engine hear how she sounds freddie's going to review some logs and stuff and then we'll show you what's been going on with the 15. [Music] i'm excited guys this new setup sounds spicy i'm gonna kind of do a little bit of you know warm up doughnuts make sure everything feels okay just kind of playing the safe side watching some logs making sure oil pressure temps everything's cooperating and then we'll start to do some full rips [Music] wow it feels a lot different than it used to [Music] watch out for that water [Music] oh this thing's spicy he's gotta be careful with this water well i forgot to push in the log for freddy he's gonna kill me a little dragstar [Music] still got a pretty good gap in between gears so that's good i was worried that maybe uh i'd fall out of boost but that's what i'm talking about feeling good [Music] obstacles [Music] give freddy some good data [Music] [Music] all right cool intense to get up to 206 not bad not bad not bad intake temps only 125 that's very good usually this thing would get crazy like 200 degrees [Music] uh [Music] so iets are phenomenal we didn't get over like 114 you know this thing would normally be like way up high uh cool in town we're chilling around 210 so it's a little bit hotter than i'd like is it going down not really just kind of sucks everything felt great though there was um i was worried that maybe because we have a bigger turbo there'd be a little bit of like a transient lag or a gap between gears but i feel like i'm right in the meat when i go from two to three which is pretty much all i know as much kickers are pretty good everything felt great i don't know if you want to look that long making sure like everything looks good everything look good anything specific you want me to try to do uh everything look good only now like took the most work was the bbt i was a little lazy got it but if you can try to hold like a little longer steady you know like throttle hooks want me to hold a little bit more consistent throttle i'm gonna try to give the car some air to see if it'll cool down a little bit faster yeah she's spicy [Music] it's good you know i'm not even flashing really rev limiter in thirds so you can tell that the car is pretty hooked up so that's cool we'll try to do a little layout through here don't see any water 213 a little bit on the hotter side [Music] cool down a little bit do a ue down here and then i'll loop back in that other strip everybody just want some nice smooth [Music] data [Music] let's go for the water could use a little bit more boost almost feels like in the mid-range but she's not bad 215's okay a little on the hotter side she's spicy that's for sure i lost power steering [Music] it sounds like my idol's a little rough too [Applause] [Music] [Music] wow um power steering pump flexing but it's the same setup right yeah poor baby you good i'm good second time what car can we take it off of what doesn't have uh ac it has ac it's the only jay-z without ac uh other than the 15 yeah 15's crazy belts even last year's yeah different overall like in terms of a fresh tune the car felt great power is perfect i don't know if you could tell it wasn't even hitting red line in third so like we could technically add more sauce to it if we wanted to we could you just seen the fuel system for now oh and coils for it huh yeah well these seem to do a lot better than yesterday yeah but it's definitely like it feels good yeah she's a ripper um overall happy with the response with the bigger cams in turbo yeah yeah it's it's way better than i expected um just got to figure out why we threw a belt um but this is sick i mean imagine how much it would suck we went all the way to osw did a couple laps instantly threw a belt so this is uh yeah this is cool hello hi hi everyone um so we blew up through our belt um i think this would be the first one first time we do that um we saw there was some flex on the power steering pump everything is tight so what i did was i adjusted the raw that you use when you delete the ac compressor uh to have more tension on the fire steering pump so it doesn't move as much hopefully that does it adam's going to go out next and just beat the crap out of the car but the higher reps because now we're ready changing higher so i think that's why he's running the belt so we'll find out now [Music] [Applause] [Music] um [Music] [Music] [Music] uh [Music] uh [Applause] [Music] uh [Music] my tires balls but i didn't want to give up she's spanked i can do a burnout yeah car feels great um it doesn't feel like wildly different than the old setup did but the numbers that i'm seeing on my little screen and that freddy's seeing um it signify that the car is a lot happier so that's good we want the car to be happy everything feels good that was fun driving it here it's fast i really want to do a backy there i've figured out that that's probably one of the best back spots here minus the tree um but my tire is bald so i'll have to wait for next time [Music] all right guys i told you in this video we were going to talk about the s15 and give you an update before i give you an update on the s15 some exciting news a lot of you guys have been asking me forever if my cars could be in the game torque drift it's a rad drifting game if you aren't familiar with it and finally we were able to put something together and get both the s15 my s13 and my r32 all in the game so i'll put a link in the description if you guys want to check that out it's pretty exciting my 15 is in the game with last year's livery but as soon as we release the new livery which is even more cool it will also be available in the game so that's pretty exciting but look you may notice we have some new body panels uh sam had actually made a whole video on the process behind getting my hands on all this new yashio factory stuff but uh i'm very excited and proud to continue my relationship with okachan and yashio factory and salmon and they were able to send us not one but two more complete kits for this season so we should be set now with eight rounds um and me driving more like a kid uh there's a good chance we're gonna need them so yeah that's better i'm super pumped you might notice too their kit usually ends here but they specially make them for me because of the fact that i don't have any rear structure for my car left so this this is full custom right here some full custom yashi factory um but also exciting news um a buddy of mats who did some work on his car ray is actually going to help us get these panels painted up here in-house so he actually came by today and he's helping get the bay dialed in so we'll actually be able to both save time and use the bay for the first time on painting up the new kit so got the new kit old doors are no good marco spent some time today starting to prep the doors we're actually going to leave a lot more of the structure inside the door normally you'd got it for weight but with the bigger nitto tire which because it measures out bigger we're in a different weight class than we were last year we actually need to add some weight to the car and very easy to add weight just by gutting out less from the doors so pretty much nothing's changed on the engine except for that cool clear ebay cover right there um i think that's really what it's going to take to win this season i think so i'll just decide we're drive some hooray the car's already been on the dyno tested look that thing right down there i got the new fancy motor plates too which is sick makes it easier if any suspension or subframe stuff needs to get pulled out and it looks pretty cool chris you were there at the dyno tell us the difference that you noticed with uh kind of the dry sump power difference i don't know whatever so pretty much the engine package still is the same as from the wet sump and same turbo everything else we hit like 840 wheel peaked and then fell off and then with this setup it never fell off we held we gained like 15 more wheels like 80 68 70 or so and then it held it all the way to redline then we started playing with like the vacuum settings on it pulled the pop-off valve off just to see what it would do if it was basically pulling too much air in lost 30 wheel there so you're able to actually like dial these in to where you can what would you say maintain the amount of back pressure and vacuum inside of the engine with the pop-off valve and the regulator on top so essentially because of the crankcase pressure and all the oil sloshing around on the crank we had a pretty noticeable difference up in the higher rpm range everywhere else it was pretty much the same yeah everywhere else it was pretty much the same revs a little faster as well but everything after about 6 500 onward you have a boatload more power because it never falls off now and hopefully we don't lose oil pressure yeah that's the cool part about it not the power yeah i don't want to change any more engines yeah let's let's hope that that's not basis here um but anyway moving over to this side i told you guys we were using a lot of the dei stuff on this car as well something new that was actually chris's idea that i thought looked really really rad rather than using the gold foil that's also made by dei sometimes it can i don't want to say look tacky but it can kind of throw off the vibe of the engine bay a little bit so he used what is their trans tunnel heat shielding that's a bit thicker and has some like really sick adhesive on it and i feel like it looks rad yeah i like it a lot better than the the gold foil the gold foil just stands out a little bit more and this stuff has a larger thermal barrier it's a little thicker a little harder to work with but if you film over here mike you can kind of get a better idea of the thickness it actually has some insulation built into it and fun fact this header wrap that's also made by dei i actually used one time in my 13 because i kept burning my heels through the carpet and i stuffed a bunch of this underneath my carpet and it works but this is like the way more legit and cleaner option in fact chris also used it underneath my heel plate because i keep burning my heels in this car too so very cool little uh feature um i don't know if it's marketed for stuff like this but we've been using it and it is awesome and it looks it's way easier to make look good too because like the heat the gold foil if you don't have like a perfect flat surface sometimes it can be hard to avoid the wrinkles yeah um but i'm super super pumped on it um one thing that i didn't mention is that i will be carrying dei products i also forgot to mention that i'm gonna be carrying griot's garage products as well um one cool thing that i always try to do when a company sponsors the fd program it's really rad to have their stuff on the shelf and be able to ship it out with your guys orders if you want to support the companies that support me so we don't have dei inventory right now but we are going to order some of our favorite stuff we'll have it available on the site and we'll kind of give you guys suggestions and ideas of what you could use it for their new turbo blankets are sick too they're gen twos also one thing that you should know if you've never used heat wrap or a turbo blanket on a car it will smell like your car is gonna burn to the ground in the beginning that's completely normal we freaked out because chris had been running the car in here yeah and i walked in and it smelled like an electrical fire they have like you know a beginning phase where they need to get up to temp and like cook whatever oils and stuff around them off and it it freaks me out that's exactly what it smells like as an electrical fire yeah and it will usually like smoke a little bit in the beginning perfectly normal don't be scared it's been cool a lot of friends that you guys know from other videos have been kind of involved on the car too chris has been slaving away but people like bell raceworks um i don't know if you guys remember arthur who did the cage in my e36 he came by brought some equipment and actually bent the tubing for the rear structure marco welded that up and i know marco was giving you a hand fitting some of the windows because we have new baller windows do you know the exact difference in terms of the material yeah these are actually polycarbonate they're 3 16ths thick and they're hard coated inside and out i've been after these windows since last year so i found these on another fd team that i was on some guys that had a bunch of s15s and i fell in love with them once i saw like how they're they're perforated they have an oem look they're an oem fit they're absolutely amazing and the cool thing is is like you can rub these down to microfibers and they don't scratch and when you cut them they have a nice edge where you can cut they don't crack a lot of stuff like lexan cracks really easy you can clean it with microfiber it scratches you try to cut it no spider web it'll crack yeah this stuff is awesome so the company's name they're not a sponsor of ours it's plastic for performance correct i'm just asking you guys if you order anything from them because you saw this video maybe just let them know and then maybe next time we go to order some super plastic before performance they'll hook us up because that'd be really cool is that sus is that an okay thing to ask no i feel like it's reasonable yeah because it's a really cool product but not a lot of people know about it yeah and who knows maybe john smith with a s15 street car wants polycarbonate windows he goes and orders a blasted ford performance and doesn't tell him it's because of us they might just think that you know whoa that tv ad we did three years ago is paying off nope that's not the case that's new what the is that what it's like yeah the beer keg my ding-a-lings in my floorboard oh and another we keep on talking about all the random people that involved this billy made us a pretty cool panel here because he's able to do sheet metal work do we have the panel so i could show them yeah yeah this is it right here look at that pretty cool to hide my beer keg from the tech so they don't know all right but yeah if you guys remember billy billy helped uh fit um the body kit on the chaser forever ago and help me get that carl straightened out the one that was totaled that wound up driving around the country twice yeah that one um but anyway yeah look at that that holds all my oil yep i honestly i have no idea what a dry sump does i just got it because everyone in the youtube comments kept telling me to get it and said that that's why my enemies kept blowing up so so hot in here is just me stop following me around that thing you guys might be wondering what we're doing for wheels you're gonna have to wait for the next video for that to find that out don't tell them no one can hear you because you're not wearing a lab uh also one thing that i forgot to mention oh i'm sorry you're good no it's not going i'm just trying to flash my knife you know so people know i got a knife on me got turbosmart on the car this year um we've been using them on all the other builds and we've had great fantastic luck their valve design is way better than the other competitors they make a really nice product so we have their blow-off valve on this car then we also have their wastegate one cool thing if you happen to have another wastegate on your car even though it's labeled as a 45 it's the same flange as other competitors 44s so they're interchangeable and they're very rad and i'm excited to always have their support on builds they make really great product and they're going to help me take on the w i thought i should probably mention because it looks like the car is still in a lot of pieces and the first round is like right around the corner mechanically cars done it's just like aesthetic stuff at this point two other things i forgot to mention we now have the wise fab front subframe set up that chris did and then the rear we have an ma motorsports subframe that modified for us but yeah it's just kind of aesthetic stuff from here on out a lot of the damage and stuff i don't know that we're gonna have time to actually get this giant dent out before the season so it might just be some dirt under her skirt you feel me i go skirt skirt until it hurts yep that's the video thanks see you in the next one yep they can't hear me thanks guys [Music] when you say
