E20 | The Big Lap of WA - Red Bluff & Point Quobba Blow Holes Camp

[Music] so this episode will leave south for freud at english station we duck through canarvon to restock you won't see much footage of that um and then we head up to red bluff and then from red bluff uh we ducked back to quavo boyhol's free camp it wasn't a free camp but probably a whole scam i nearly got it in one take um again sorry about the wind noise guys i've realised it's a bit of an issue now and i'm working on it um it was crazy windy anyway enjoy i've actually got a fluffy thing on your microphone but we think it actually hasn't been working this entire time yeah we think we've had a bit of an issue so we're sorting that out we're working on it right so we've packed up from south lafroy and we are heading out to carnarvon today um the caravan park yeah um so it was what 40 40 or 50 cases to get out of here um through uh through the station roads from south lafayette from south dakota yes and oh my god it was probably the worst road we've done so far this trip oh this trip i'd say yeah people carry on about the bungles road but this one was so much worse well gibberish road this one's worse oh my god but same as anything else you just let your tyres down drive to conditions it's doable i wouldn't let it put you off just be prepared to be rattled actually that's that was the test wasn't it we've had one one can split in the back of the canopy that's my test for your road yeah when cans are rubbing together and they split and that's that's the first time it's happened so this trip we were gonna head to coral bay which is just down 50 k's down the road um but the thing about coral way is there's no water like the the caravan park doesn't provide fresh water they give you they give you 20 liters when you check in and then you have to pay for extra water um we're not really prepared to do that because we think that's a ripoff it is a really nice spot though um but yeah we've been before so we thought we might skip it we don't want to pay for the water and it's still pretty windy so um the snorkeling's not going to be great um on the topic of water as well we've never really tested just how far we can get without topping up the tanks but we've just done six nights with 200 liters of water and we're right on empty now we've got a little bit left so six nights is about our maximum which is all of us that's always having one shower a day washing dishes and drinking water water so that's pretty good about what that 33 liters each day that's pretty good oh no no that's 33 liters for all of us today it's 11 liters each that's awesome so yeah six nights is about the maximum for water um and three nights for a toilet i never knew that this is a 20 liter toilet even less two nights if i if i can't wear outside like a running caravan apart three nights if i'm doing all my weighs outside and we're just doing the business in the uh in the dunny yeah so the toilet fills up pretty quick you've got to empty that but you do find that most places have dump points i mean even out here there was a dump point although it was overfilling um there is still a dump point so yeah three nights for the toilet out of max and six nights for the water so carnarvon for a restock and then we're gonna go somewhere we've never been before um red bluff which will be windy go live how's the noise right it's impressive that's [Music] the shower [Music] [Music] wow [Music] manning gorge that was on the give river road somewhere yeah where's your favorite place you've [Music] been where was where was that that was wolf creek there was no caravan park there who's the cabin huh what was the cabin we stayed in a few so how do you go people always want to know this this is a combined oh i better make sure there's no boob in the shot there we go this is a combined shower and toilet can you see me just your face no bosom how do you go with a combined shower and toilet are you sure you cut things i'm positive i'll show you before i post it anyway plus you shower wearing clothes anyway to be honest when we get a bigger van i do want a separate shower and toilet um but in saying that it's not really a big deal the toilet doesn't really get that wet um people think the toilet paper gets wet and they think you need some sort of like curtain between them to keep them dry the toilet paper doesn't get wet but what we do and i don't know if everyone does this is we actually hold the thing when we're showering yeah the shower rolls you don't have it [Music] yeah so that probably helps with with aiming it right on your body and i think that helps saving water today yeah because you're getting it right on the spots you need yeah so we hold it turn it off soap up turn it back on wash yourself else when we're done like it's literally i think we end up using what we we figured out we use 30 liters a day 33 liters a day for all three of us to shower wash dishes drink water everything so it's only a risk it's like a one minute shower outside if i'm washing my hair it takes a little bit longer right yes not great i mean it's not not bad but i would like the luxury of a separate show and toilet one day yeah next fan um so we've also got a mat a rubber mat on the floor which helps um like when you come to the toilet after you've had a shower because the water stays on the bottom and the mats above that like you don't you don't get all wet because your feet are on the mat does that make sense yeah yeah we'll show them that and i'll show you now i've just had a shower i'll show you now what the toilet paper and the toilet looks like there's only a tiny bit of water the aftermath so that's the that's the match he's talking about and then yeah you can see the toilet gets a little bit of splash on it but the hand towel stayed there and the toilet paper stayed there that doesn't get wet stuff over this side can sometimes get a little bit wet but none of it really matters anyway so yeah um we don't we also don't use full-sized towels so that saves a little bit of space these are um anaconda quick dry microfiber towels um they do a pretty good job we only have one each don't we yep so we use these for the shower and then we've got a beach towel each which is a lot bigger from kmart they're also quick dry microfiber we never hang them in the bathroom um because after the showers that's all humid and moist moist so we hang them um like off these things on that side or that side or sometimes just off the tower or off the um curtain room chloe's going to bed now aren't you i like going to bed all right you want to hop into bed yep and mommy's sleeping with me okay you got your barbie right hop in have you got your milk [Music] all right so we turn the light off we shut the curtains and then we normally leave all of our internal lights on still because we're staying up for a while but they don't seem to worry huh got crazy windy last night we didn't put the stabilizer legs down because we stayed hitched up to the car and the van was bloody it was a fair bit of movement they said i think they said wind gusts are up to 50k it may or may not have been more than that i'm not sure but up top of this hill where we're getting smashed still managed to sleep through the night pretty soundly though we did end up putting the pop top down and um uh there was still enough room to move around in the van and whatnot not enough headroom to stand up straight but um that was quite good for sleeping just really limited the wind noise and stuff so anywho it's a beautiful spot we're definitely going to come back but we're going to move on we're thinking about staying here three nights we're just going to do the one because of the because of the weather and because we just can't get a good sheltered spot here there's a few people set up long term in the sheltered spots got here first so we're gonna go back to that um uh cuaber that that camp near the good snorkeling spot the aquarium we're just having a cup of coffee and then we're off [Music] did you want me to film that or not yeah you can't come in corrugations that's actually that's actually snapped the bull bar oh my god this kind of reminds us of um wedge island which is uh a couple of hours north of earth same sort of thing there's a lot of fishing shacks they're technically squatters um they're bored they've built basically sheds on the beach years ago um and they just stay there sort of semi-legally cool area though a lot of history i'm sure this is the same is that a fantasy mdc isn't it yeah xc17 another mdc you haven't seen me in this trip actually we saw a fortius oh yeah we saw our first forbes on the road yesterday heading north is he watching [Music] i wanted to make the girls some caramel slice i actually i just had to look through the pantry and i haven't got any of the right ingredients but i don't let silly little things like that stop me so i'll still have crack well this is pretty embarrassing but the wind noise got so bloody bad um but i just can't put it in the video uh audio quality is terrible so i'm gonna do a bit of a voiceover for this cooking segment so we're making caramel slice for the biscuit layer on the bottom i'm going to crush some milk arrowroot biscuits and then i'm going to add some flour to that now you're supposed to use plain flour i've only got self-raising flour so i'm going to use that you don't want to use all self-raising flour because it would rise too much and go cakey so next is a bit of brown sugar i'll bang that in so to that we're going to add a bit of desiccated coconut and finally for that biscuit base we're going to add some butter and then we simply just bring it all together with our fingers until it's crumbly i'm going to be cooking this in the travel buddy oven so i've got my little road runner off-road tray there tipping the mixture out onto it and then we'll just sort of flatten it out into the corners and that's ready to bang in the oven uh ovens are full wet and we're just gonna bake that until it starts to firm up while that's cooking away uh we can do start getting that caramel slice layer ready so all that is is a bit more butter out of the butter we're going to add a little bit of should be sweet and condensed milk for whatever reason i've got sweetened condensed coconut milk um but that'll still work fine and a squirt of golden syrup i'm actually using honey because i didn't have the right ingredients for any of this so you heat that up over over the hob until it comes together and it gets thick like caramel and then by that time the biscuit base layer was ready for the travel buddy so i'm just going to pour all that caramel layer on top and then it goes back in the travel bottle oven to set while we're waiting for that to cook we have a bit of a fish so i'm sitting here in the van and um cam was sitting next to me um we're just chilling out not really doing much today it's pretty windy um and i just turned to cam and i said why aren't you out fishing you're always out fishing when you get the chance and he said oh i'm not gonna catch anything anyway he's not been having the best light lately anyway he he said bugger it i'll go now two minutes later he comes screaming back tiff tiff tiff monster right he swallowed that that's a 40 gram lure he swallowed smaller thing what size fish are you that's your biggest yet oh yeah now the spangle was bigger no it wasn't oh [Music] so this is getting real professional now not only is the audio unusable but there's bloody sea spray all over the lens and i managed to burn everything that was in the travel body because i got carried away fishing so about two-thirds of it had to be binned it was burnt about a third of it was salvageable so um now for that chocolate layer i'm just gonna over the gas hob melt bitter chocolate and a little bit of oil until it comes together and then pour that on top of the caramel slice and then that will set in the fridge again all right you catch potatoes you want dessert do you want dessert see that yeah you want some yeah oh so i stuck it in the freezer because it was going to take too long to sit in the fridge this could be a disaster by the way if i'm pretty sure it will be yeah yeah oh it's a surprise isn't it i didn't tell you what it was come on you can open your eyes mint no it is caramel slice
