all right everybody here thank you for coming this morning I have no idea what's going to happen we're going to find out here pretty quick the drill is once we're done with the briefing and talk about the safety a little bit we'll get strapped in you're going to ban the radio and we will meet on one to 275 we will free oil the motor and that's going to take a few minutes you'll hear one hum and then we will call for clear and then I'm going to run it through with the free all motor on 16 blaze for complete revolutions stop at that point it will be boost pump on close the canopy and Magneto's on and we're going to try to start the motor just just about as quick as at the I would like that that big propeller is completely unforgiving who's going to man the APU you're going to man the a few so the signal fir that you the APU once the engine is running is just like it always was you're going to always approach airplane from the rear and that start cart needs to stay out of the propeller or wash arc and you're going to take your part away this way and get it away from the airplane we want to stay there is a note there is a note in the dash one that says caution don't leave the throttle open after shut down because the prop manifold regulator that sludge itself up and you could have a runaway throttle on engine start I don't know if that ever happened you guys in the sky Raider but we never left the throttle yeah well you know the whole thing is new so let's try to stay behind the wing line I know that photographers like to get pretty pictures but which ways would it go it would go left to do what yeah it would go this way so if you got a stand to take a picture be on this side of the airplane but we want to be real respectful of the propeller and you want to stay away from the airplane so that can't hurt irregardless of happens and that's back behind the wing line so we'll get it started and it's going to smoke hopefully and make a lot of noise and blow a lot of oil and it run for five minutes at 1200 rpm and that's the first step in the in the run and schedule okay do you want to pull it through first to be done that 16 buds all the playbook doesn't allow you to do that and the lower plugs were out I stuck them for oil and they're back in okay guys if it kicks back at all with the engine starter there's a clutch in there that should prevent it yeah two things do a little luck uh-huh throttle idle cut yes okay yeah and let's get up on the wing and somebody get in the cockpit and run the controls and I'll look at the the carburetor to make sure one last check that they really are throat I don't drop idle cutoff for start okay you can start on the prime throw the location three-quarters of an inch uh-huh that's so a mixture idle cutoff now we're at all three quarters of an inch open ok sixteen billions and then you do here why don't you try a book start to stop on a witness to go like that once it's running once it starts to pump get on your get on your primer all the way and then you adjust your smoke with the throttle if it's real white smoke you can you can lean it out a little bit the problem is that you're too far forward it'll backfire and they told us it'll blow the stacks off that never happened so don't be concerned okay and and then once it's running smoothly okay you go mixture full rich when our pimp starts to come up get off the brine man okay okay and you're gonna be on the radio twenty seven five be right let me know those in charge of the fire detail you get those fire bottles where you want them and get somebody else to help you and brief them okay go I bought the old takin choice but next time we're out of excuses oh it's been a long time I mean it's been ten years since we started this project on right I think you started again well let's let's clean what happened is it it was not enough care my Adam were here and you saw it started that I got it running smooth on the primer and then brought the mixture up and when I got off the primer it quit rest of the base cancelled we're doing good enough it's response noise started yeah it's hard to see this thing use a stubby to get into no holiday no I think I get up above maybe they were never tight well I never smoked them who wants to volunteer to stand it look to see where it's late bring-bring the steps there somebody the blue the blue stairs yeah yeah I started I think is dead yeah because when I went to Auto Ridge the first start and I shut yourself down and quit and I never cook the mixture bathroom I used a lot more throttle a lot more air jumped on the primer I went to go to auto congratulations I can't believe all right okay thanks rod hey you made it guys hurt can you believe I got it running and I'm dead on the primer one letter and I adjusted the throttle 3rp on top it's yellow and Loan did you not log in five seconds and I brought the mixer out I didn't quit no as soon as I got off the driver the second time I started with with a mixer already and risk yeah and the reason it sounded so fat is because I was warming it up and rich you know as soon as you taught me to bring it that didn't get outside that baby you heard the contrary there's not much better things working good
