check one two three one check one check one two three testing ABC Pro but is it I was at college at the University of North Texas in 2004 I was writing music that wasn't really jazz even though I was at jazz school so I just got the group of my friends together like nine of my buddies and we played a gig in a basement of a pizza shop J & JS pizza on the square in Denton Texas and and now it's 11 and a half years later so we're still doing our thing it's just a love I mean I mean when you love something you're go as far as you can to see it see it through for me it was just simply love of music and wanting to find a way to be creative and um in a lot of other instances outside of this band you don't really get to do that it's a rare thing to be in a situation where you're like playing with people you love and having fun having a great time challenging yourself it what part of playing in this band for me is so I know I noticed that I found myself trusting my bandmates more over the course of time I mean the more we play together the more we understand like what's about to happen and how we could change was going to happen through our instruments and how we go you know and not playing more than what you supposed to play in this band is big-oh unknown on bring any ideas together in such a way where it's not overstepping the boundaries of somebody else and although the individuals are all really great players like that's not what the band is about at all yeah you know it's really about everyone finding their place together to create something as a group you know you know and I think we all hold each other to a standard of like oh there there are there's a bar and if anyone goes below it the rest of the guys or thank you sometimes not so diplomatic and you know so you soon you you by travelpod member Oh binkey the reason why that song is called binky actually is we were playing it in Birmingham Alabama one night it didn't have a name yet and I just asked people to write on a napkin what they thought the song would be called should be called like 20 people sent napkins up and one of them was binky God and I liked that it made sense to me for some reason binky liked all that that I don't even know what it is a binky like a little blanket like that a baby has I don't know asked us it's a pacifier okay I didn't know that we have some songs that have compelling and inappropriate stories behind the song titles but we didn't play them today there's always a risk in doing something different high risk high ROI stock yeah exactly yeah that's true you know I mean you really the more you risk I think the more fulfilling it is when you achieve what you're going for you know sometimes a reward is just playing music you know the right way and growing as a musician I mean I think when we play the only objective that we have is to enjoy ourselves and to play the songs and it can be different every night but as long as those two things are happening as long as we're having a good time and we're you know doing the songs justice then we're cool I think we also want people to be inspired yeah like to leave like to come now shows here the music and leave inspired and want it like continue to do whatever it is they're doing and audiences inspire us to yeah yeah true the energy you feel from certain crowds if not every crowd doing it at night it's like amazing you know and for us we're in a unique position that like people come to see us or buy our records to hear us do what we love to do so there's no pressure on us to be different than who we are and along that very very long path of you know that we had of driving around in a van and sleeping on people's floors and playing for less people than our onstage you know the little like carrots what was it the horse or donkey or whatever you put like the carrot in front and it keeps talking who's walking those little carrots for us were like we're not financial it was it was like seeing that people were enjoying what we were doing or maybe a musician we really at respect it would come to a gig and be like man keep doing it like that's you're on the right path or whatever and that kind of kept us fed along until now and we all have helicopters and private jazz yeah 20 houses are ready a a missions around the world Wow instrumental music and really it's the hidden you you you you you
