[Music] [Music] hello everybody it's AJ the mighty glue stick welcome back to the monster ecology specialist Channel and thank you very much for 2500 subscribers which I've now blasted past that was great birthday gift thank you very much and also thank you for the birthday messages from everybody on Facebook I do have a page on Facebook for mocha lipsticks so if you want to get over and check that out sometimes I leave little sneak peeks of what I'm working on but otherwise it's just another place we can catch my update right today I'm going to be covering teeth links another playable race yay and I really like tickling cause I think they're a great character to play as player character because of their sort of more difficult existence that they live at leaves lots of room for you to developer a character that is slow to trust people and several different but I'll get into their personality later on so as per usual I'm here to present you with a detailed outlook on The Tipping race and also some stuff that you didn't know about people inks and some variants of tea things that you could discuss with your DM or if you're running a game as a DM introduced to your players as possible player characters variants of feelings that are a lot of fun to play so I'm going to cover some of those and also a bit about the history of tea fling and dungeons dragons right let's get started okay so then if we go to Wikipedia and it'll give you some information on the basics of tea flings and their history and Dungeons & Dragons where they started who's the first person to depict one was etc so they describe them as a humanoid race originally introduced in the Planescape campaign setting and the second edition of advanced ingredients they became one of the primary races available player characters in the fourth edition of the game so this would be a relatively new addition to people who have started playing for position who haven't played for position and that's something which kind of blows my mind because I am one of the people that played for position so he clings to me are a part of the game but I mentioned for a lot of the people who are have skipped from 3.5 war Pathfinder and are now playing fifth edition teeth wings would be like well where they come from so let me just introduce you to those great ways they were originally introduced as humans with demonic ancestry whose lineage can be traced back to some degree or another that of the fiend or a demon within the Dungeons and Dragons universe that's actually not completely accurate and fourth edition they were very much a devilish so a fiendish as in devilish not demonic ancestry and in the first edition if I flip to the book it says that their infernal bloodline traces back to Asmodeus overlord of the nine hells and that they're basically a previous generation struck a deal a pact and as Melissa's DNA was infused well the essence of Asmodeus was infused into their bloodline and that the techniques that you play in the game are a result of that ancient sin so they're the children's children's children who are still held accountable for that pact and cannot escape it that's part of the fake so the tiefling is not exactly a typical cross breed bloodline it is a curse it's a magical curses magical template that they carry within them that they pass on to their offspring and yeah it always breeds true so this is this is one unsettling things that the nine hells is sort of taken upon itself to do to extend its influence in to the Morgul realms it sets up this basically a teasing race that allows it to breathe true so eventually if the demons were allowed to breed they would out breed any population that they're in because their offspring would always be a tickling so it's never really a you can't really be a half peopling and they don't really produce if they breed with any other race they always produce the peopling so this is this is a dangerous thing and this infernal bloodline is derived from human blood lines for the tiefling ended Player's Handbook however let me tell you about some of the experience of teeth links so in Forgotten Realms we have the ferry that may loose the ten Erick and wisp limbs which are variants that you can play as another type of race with a fiendish background whistling are descended from the breeding of halflings and demons so they descend us from demons and halflings whoever they let the traditional fiendish traits instead having light brown skin and red bright red here and despite their great abilities of stealth they chose to commonly wear bright colors in order to stand out from the crowd and like most of the other plaintiffs ones they are they have dark vision from 60 feet they also have the innate ability once a day to appear as any humanoid creature and that's about all the information that you have on them but it's an interesting variant where you could play a tiefling halfling essentially and of course with that demonic background they are chaotic in nature and probably evil so that's an interesting variant Atlanta haplin as well can Erick are a crossbreed of orc and demon and so they are very dangerous they appears short stocky walks with bristly hair horns and ridges along the sides of their heads and their distinctive brimstone smell about them and they have the ability to naturally manipulate fire which is a common thread that you see through most artwork with tippling or diamond touch races they originally read as all diamond cross breeds in the region around health gate keep in the Outlands letters and however years of dwelling in favor and led them to be regarded as a separate species rather than as a sub race of orcs much like the teeth wings are regarded as kind of a separate species of humans the nasty brutish not terribly intelligent but smarter than your average orc and extremely dangerous fighters unpredictable chaotic and very very destructive bloodthirsty so they will go to extreme lengths to win and destroys target of their aggression many become sorcerers and most of them become muscle for other fiendish creatures such as champions may lose are essentially dwarven crossbreeds with dwarfs and devils so the dwarves don't have a crossbreed variant with beans they're also regarded as the outsiders Native outsiders as well so they're extra planet creatures which are now native to the material realm and data sends it from feedings and Dwarfs that have red eyes and not abnormally long fingers almost Heelys bodies and they keep the natural diet version of dwarves opposite Fifi they have better innate social skills than pure blood kin and commonly use them to attain positions of power so they're more charismatic and manipulative than your average dwarf and due to their dialogue heritage they were able to cause merely weapons to gain on the holy cow a second channel rage and an evil through magical weapons that they can craft so yeah and they are cut from the red eyes and long fingers and kind of hairlessness they don't have tails or horns or all this with them faerie our demon face so they're not true elven sub-race they're tiefling elves essentially and the result of interbreeding between son elves and Canarian and attempt to strengthen the son elf bloodline and back is back in the day they've got a more complex ecology the generally rejected any elven resemblances offenses and they've got barbed tails fangs forked tongues horns combinations of the two or three and some of them have multiple sets of arms or they can even have wings so they are much more fiendish looking then tiefling humans crossroads are so that's that kind of unusual and unique to them those of them that are not visibly different to elves at all are raised amongst elves never knowing their true nature however it may manifest itself in the proficiencies they have all their inclinations toward more rage and ruin they have a challenge the use of magic and some would practice blade song magical bardic abilities and they also the ability to shape themselves to society so they're more even more charismatic and manipulative than your average else and they can also produce flames drain life from victims and have a natural spell resistance to them so they're good NPCs as sorcerers rogues or flavors within elven or the outside of the elven society kind of like the dirty secret of the Elvin Elvin kind and they seek to establish reestablish old elven realms and commence there if you're in that in that region annual games yeah they consider their bloodline to be very important pride themselves something ever traced back to the house of boy Elvin named live dragons or the demon faith and this means that the school they really only breed amongst themselves or exceptional elves so they seek to actually strengthen their bloodline and position or see themselves as dominant as their arrogance of the elves which is accentuated by the fiendish traits and they generally look negatively upon outsiders but respectable towards intelligent strength flexible morals basically getting the job done no matter what and once they've made a friend it's kind of like they will not abandon that person immediately if it helps them yeah otherwise they'll just seem to see others as a mold in the winds even as a friend yeah so they've got an interesting history and yeah there's there's more story about those guys because elves very dramatic and lots and lots of story related to them so that's generally the the tiefling hybrids are offshoots now if we go to the squatting realms peelings these again are touched of the fiendish plains they usually descended from fiends but they also can be descended from demons you Galatz devil's evil deities deities and other monstrous outsiders that bred with humans such as succubi or each play chief links are known for the cunning and personal level which made them excellent receivers as well as inspiring leaders which when prejudices are later side so if you accept them for them as an individual and not their origin they can take a woman to you although the evil answers could be meaner drew many generations remove the tank and lingered unlike unlike half fiends who are a great descendant treatments are not predisposed towards is like evil elements and varied in the line that nearly as widely as full humans however the background as those who are raised within the human society because it's generally not enough people inks to make a tiefling society and if they were it the prejudice would just stack up against them to the point where that would be basically driven and to the driven out of any any area as the prejudice has caused people to well hate crimes basically so in this you can see that they have more than one origin so enforce addition teeth ones had a very very stock look to them so they had large brow red type horns on top of the head kind of like a water buffalo they had long splishy prehensile tails or were they pre control doesn't they'll just sort of moving around but they couldn't use them as fingers or toes or anything and they had unusual skin tones usually sort of reddish purplish mode color and they usually have a Mian unusual eyes now in your game because teeth links can actually have multiple outsider origins they can look quite variant from that and infest addition I see no reason why you would sec to just the the type of Tekken image that they have depicted here of this mode scanned individual was kind of really quite unusual horns on top of us here kind of an angular features and that accession tale yeah no reason why they would always look that alien for instance because they are born of mortal parents I'm sure one of them is going to be a teeth one but they may be born to a parent who didn't even realize that they carry a tiefling bloodline they could have been orphaned they could be one of those rare teeth ones that looks almost completed human and when they breed with somebody else they could have effectively a monstrous child as far as they're concerned and in the Dungeons & Dragons world there is no reason why those parents would not go ah monster and kill the child and that is the typical fate of most teeth links that they actually killed at birth only the refu who are who are either raised by say a solar parent were essentially they're raised with the full knowledge that they are a tiefling or the possibility that they will be headless monstrous appearance those are the only ones who really make it and so there's this whole aspect of the manipulation or the prejudice towards them from birth and they're raised with expectations or fears about their origin and in nature that they have to deal with their entire life and it's kind of alluded to and the fluff texts here we're talking about two teeth Ling's who are talking to each other and talking about the struggle fighting against the predispositions people have their prejudices towards them and they prove this position so being greeted by stares and whispers suffers violence and insults on the street mistrust and fear in every eye that's a lot of every teeth link and they can either rage against it and go the opposite extreme and go out of their way to be like the Drizzt Do'Urden as to growl some tea flings are paladin's beacons of light they go - out of the way to manipulate their appearance to look as good as possible as leash like devil as they can so exotic but not evil and that generally works for quite a few of them but still lizard always that initial shock of oh those aren't ornamental horns on your head you actually have horns growing on your head even if you cover them and if you painted them ivory white and cover them in filigree silver with gems and things there's still horns growing from your head they don't have contact lenses the cover-up and Ludd red eyes or black completely black eyes they may file down their things for instance but still it's a horrible process that had to go to justice sit in with the rest of society and that feeling constantly of being an outsider not one of everyone else and not having a culture of your own however I like to think of siblings in my games I usually have a kind of a unique culture to them particularly in fourth edition is they have some abilities which sits in the past others such as a resistance to fire having a resistance to fire damage in combat that's great but when you think about it as a day-to-day fact of life imagine if you were resistant to fire what would your health be like would you be that worried about open flames and things would you set your thermostat to 50 degrees and would you eat massively spicy food these are the things which are introduced into the culture of individual teeth length in my game that stand out as much as their physical appearance does so that when you're in the house of an NPC tiefling for instance and you they hand you a bowl of broth it's got ghost chili pepper in it it's extremely spicy and hot to the point where you're like choking and gasping they're like oh sorry I forgot you can't handle the heat that sort of thing I really love that or having other sort of fiendish aspects to them like the resistance of disease or poison which allow them to do distasteful things which normal humanoids wouldn't go anywhere near since for instance harvesting organs long dead corpses bloated things disease and rot may not bother them they may be resistant to disease or just not have a sense of smell or taste as other people do they may favor foods and things which are outside of the normal human palate so be able to eat bark and things like that or eat live creatures whole with a preference for that rather than cooking them for instance because they can actually taste suffering as a flavor it's not because they're cruel it's just that that's a part of their personality they expect this physical traits that are very different from everyone else and they have to struggle with reconciling the fact that they can taste suffering as a pleasurable thing but they are now actually experiencing pleasure at the suffering of an animal it's just something that exists for them and they have to deal with it so they mature at the same rate of humans and live a few years longer on average if they do look to a full lifespan without being murdered or killed their intelligence school increases by one and their charisma score increases by two so this is a person who has a high intellect and a high charisma they wear their their feelings on their sleeve at most times and they deal with issues on day to day basis so they kind of like a tortured personality really this suffering lends some strength and they have a lot of empathy for other people mainly because they say they try to get long they're always trying to predict what other people are thinking about them constantly on their mind is this Patterson society and cleaving to people who they know they can trust who can they trust one thing is that they don't generally trust each other they don't trust other tea flings and they believe their own prejudice that the other people's prejudices against other tiefling are reflected also sadly tragically and their own nature they don't trust tea things because they know that some of the the drives and inclinations that they constantly war against are struggles they quite often fail and they see those failures and other dealings and are forewarned forearmed about how weak tea blends can be and also help manipulative deceptive tip length can be so they're always ready to be double-crossed by another tickling and so it's very hard to them to form close personal bonds with other tipping's however when they do they have very strong bonds indeed and you will see occasionally teklynx who are remain today who who will kill for each other and essentially they found a partner in life who understands their struggle and that's them against everyone else so they lend each other strengths that way they have an infernal legacy that allows them to know this for maturity cantrip once they've reached third level and they can cast hellish rebuke once a good day as a sitting little spell once they reach fifth level they can also cast the darkness spell 1/2 day and charisma is their base abilities are casting these spells so they may also have what they probably will be inside to cross class as other spell casting types as well because they have a natural inclination towards the arcane arts for maturity however is a divine compel and that's the ability to manipulate your environment they can cause explains to change color that can cause noises they can cause rooms to shake they can make their appearance different slightly more more impressive or otherwise so yeah it's a huge aspect of their personality as well and as a player using Samet OG and all sorts of different minor ways to tweak the situation not to to be disruptive of the game or anything but just to emphasize the fact that your character is alien and has powers beyond the normal ten of mortal man that they they may use the great effect so their eyes may look with flame or they're here made Washington and invisible breeze the cloak made billow out around them when they're best threatening or posturing their swords may glean was a glimpse of reflected fire that is not actually there the shadow may move independently of them that sort of thing all at their own discretion but it's that ability to just manipulate slightly with minor illusionary vegetable physical effect that speaks to them having arcane control over their environment which is freaky to the average person as I can click and read and write common and infernal so that's also interesting is an innate ability do they pick it up because they're they're driven to to read it or learn and thermal language it's certainly not a commonplace thing that it will be lying around so do they stick it out or is it a natural aspect of their character like a genetic memory that they can understand it speaks infernal does it come with a set of memories or impressions of an infernal realm that they've never actually visited but with that comes a was that language comes an understanding of the infernal order of things of the universe do they have an understanding of how diable ism works or summoning or circles or that sort of thing there that really speaks a lot to their facility as well so you can delve deeply into their character so their alignment is they have a tendency towards evil and that's really what gets every us you know it is it is fairly stereotypical that siblings do turn to evil and that certainly runs in their bloodline but it's not you know guaranteed and there are some famous people in paladin's and clerics and wizards and things who do nothing but good obsessively even to the point of annoyance and of course they can also turn itself to evil as well so a peloton or a fighter could become a black art through the rejection of the gods failings and reliant on their own power and will over anything else so justice becomes persecution yeah so yeah otherwise they'd have doctors naps 60 feet as the usual basic speed is 30 feet and yeah so they're self-reliant there it really depends on your backgrounds that you choose in the end the game and I suggest that and do put some thought into your characters background not to the point that's like making a 20-page background that you're you're poor dungeon master pour-over unless you Josh for it won't cheers us work but certainly have a look at the background possibilities trinkets and things like that and craft an interesting unusual story for your your teeth wings background because they've had an interesting life I guarantee you they've had an interesting life tea flings of course you're not restricted to having a people in looking very outlandish they could actually look quite normal they may not have horns they could have spines of Michigan they could have scaled so could it's a slightly more subdued cat-like tale they could have some barbs on their tail they could just have a blank Accord fingers like a goblin oyd and fangs and dark eyes but man if it's no other expert outward appearances of the devilish ancestry and of course if they're descended from rakshasas or grasped or dema Gorgon or various others they could have very variant rates so someone who is descended from grass could have an extra finger in their hand dark skin but otherwise appear quite normal those who are descended from direct shoppers could have backwards-facing hands they could have a cat-like tail they could have tiger stripes on their skin as a pattern that sort of thing so really go to town and come up with interesting stuff about your tiefling in in the history of the tea-things they first appeared the first artists to depict one was King Tony DiTerlizzi I've pronounced that correctly and they first feed back in 1994 and the camp plan plan scope setting but they've kind of been present if a symptom of the various editions second edition third edition which is we saw the favori and various others 3.5 we'd say you had the cheer tiefling paragon introduced numbers O'Connor in 2004 and yeah they've always been part of the races of destiny planner handbook the plane touched entry and fourth edition of course they became sort of mainstream and yeah they had a racial book dedicated Edition player handbook racers pick ones so yeah big time and there's variants equalling builds appearing in the Sword Coast adventure guide published in 2015 if you want to check those out as well I don't actually have that so I'll be interested if anybody's got any comments on that and the fictional henceforward addition they had their own history and in the game so the text links traced the origins to ancient human empire called bails harass and the Empire the noble class was completely obsessed with preserving and gaining power so they were a personified evil human intrigue and backbiting taken to the extreme where any any means to gaining power was seen as okay and they turn to finish fiendish influence rumors of the schemes and obsessions with power reached around called the nine hells where the devil's residing there gave the ruling classes of Beltre s visions while they slept containing the directions for a grisly month-long ritual that would extend their rule to a charity the details of the ritual have been left unclear in the books of The Player's Handbook series describing events so it's been described as being very horrible indeed so we're talking like they be eating that sort of them as the ritual descended demanded the participation of every noble house those that refused were slaughtered once this horrible thing was done the ruling class began began their ritual and afterwards Devils from the nine hells began to appear so basically they got an open invitation to the city so essentially it became a demi plain of the nine hells and the nobles gladly made pacts with them willy-nilly these pacts gave power to the nobles and the descendants forever so these magical abilities ceilings are fueled directly from fiendish influence and if you want to take that as a an aspect of your Dendy world that fiendish linked that fiendish influence can be tapped and manipulated by other creatures so even though your tea frame may have the best of intentions that foes the most noble path they still and neatly inherently have a link to the fiendish plans which is valuable to evil other creatures and can be manipulated so there's always that this is one of the main plots of the movie hell boy for instance the fact that he's been raised by humans and is struggling to he wants to be a part of human society but he is manipulated and he's seen as pivotal to an evil cult which is dedicated to her to bringing about the end of the world through summoning old ones great cosmic powers so that can certainly be a storyline in your campaign that's one of the player characters is playing at evening or tea flings have become prominent in your storyline so yeah so from that point on they say adi descendants had devilish features horns non prehensile tails just a tone on pre-install sharpened teeth red skin and they were known for evermore as tea Flint's incest edition the overlord of the nine houses mobius is cited as the ancestral source of the devilish features however that that's just one of the different varieties that you could have you can have all sorts of different varieties so they can have all sorts of like traits of the devil kind so some of them may even have anything to add pictures of like I still don't see why not so the different aspects there's a number of features that that that can be referenced for the lineage yeah and yeah or the the non prehensile tails are approximately four or five feet and links so they're actually quite difficult to describe concealed but they can be wrecked around it's not easy but it can be done basically they're just tack it up behind themselves and then bring it forward and then wrap it around their waist and it can sort of be concealed quite well but it's not comfortable really yeah so that's that's different for you hmm [Music] Pathfinder I guess I should give a shout out to firefighter and they're sitting they also have seedlings and they're typically was it so here blood calls nearly Imogen learn even this one of the freakiest specialist can become a saint and a grandchild of a pet fiend and unsuspecting hero so they basically has the same sort of aspect of the fiendish but they can't actually be good so tea funds from the material plan really create your own settlements and hold it so essentially they're basically three carbon copy of sequence and we've gotten realms they have a plus to racial proneness to big bluff in stealth checks otherwise they're pretty much exactly the same they've got a plus two detects Terra t plus two - on intelligence and - ooh - charisma so that's that speaks of the unnerving aspect of others whence in the the physical appearance will give them a - to their to their charisma and yeah whatever it sort of ignores the fact that they're they're quite beguiling so it says here beguiling layer many Tiffin's find it best in the waitress world by telling others what they want to hear they practice telling habitual falsehoods and their grants from their buff Blackett owners and it also says that they're a fiendish sprinter and have feet that are more beast you'll than human which gives them a the ability to gain a 10-foot racial bonus to this speed when using a charged run or withdraw action they have they could have a more or a claw they could have a princess bring yourself hell we could have scaled skin they could have a soul fearing ability rare differences the peculiar sites that allows them to see the state of a creatures soul and they can use the desk watch as and will smell workability so that's interesting and some of them have vestigial wings and it's listed as they're flavored classes include Alchemist cleric Cruz Inquisitor Manges : paladin rogue sorceress summoner witch and wizard so yeah pretty cool I don't generally delve into Pathfinder though but I was just kind of curious in this particular case because it is a player character race and it's quite interesting yeah anyway so that's it for teeth lungs on this particular chant feel free to enrich them with a variant aspects variant backgrounds variant appearance talk about who their actual ancestor is if you want to give that as an option to your plague players to sort of introduce a note element there who exactly are you descended from or perhaps leave it as a secret that they can discover yeah certainly I don't see why not and have fun with them certainly and let your player explore their the fiendish nature at little as long as it's not too disruptive and certainly keep in mind that constantly persecuting them in the game well every single person they NPCs that they come across it could be a bit of a drag so occasionally come up with people who have met sequins
