Christine and Alex are off tonight. And our top story. Tensions erupt at an elementary school in North Hollywood during a protest over pride month. 11 Christie Fajardo. She's there and she joins us now live with the very latest Christie. Marla and Cocoa. That event was held here at Saticoy School. It is quiet now, but I can tell you for much of the day It was very loud. We heard chanting. We heard shouts! We heard a lot of cursing, even anti gay slurs. And at one point it even got physical. Tensions boil over and come to blows. One person is injured despite pleas for calm Everybody, Everybody, There's kids. Here's stop. For much of the day, a row of police officers stood outside Saticoy Elementary and try to keep the two sides apart, even when they blocked each other's past each other. School became the center of protest after some parents learned that a video of a book where it says some kids have two mommies, some have two daddies would be played at a pride assembly. This mother who helped organize the protests. She should be given the choice of opting her child out of attending. This is not the right message for kids to confuse them at this age of what? You know what kind of families are out there because they don't know anything they are. I mean, they don't understand. Look I have gay friends. I have nothing against you guys. Absolutely nothing. This This whole gathering was for the parents to meet with the USDA officials and tell them how we feel about it. But counter protesters argue, signs reading, Stop grooming or sexualizing our kids, different story. Queer people are not inherently sexual. We are just like every other person and the fact that out here they're trying to harass these poor Children into being in their world view is atrocious. USD superintendent defended the assembly, saying. The book was approved by the state as a parent as an educator. We should not accept Children being used as political ponds are protesters against l. A USD protesters tell us they kept their kids home today, but others sent their Children to school, including this father with a BN or very proud shirt as hurtful, but I know for my kids. I have to be strong and you know the other ways. Police say no one involved in that by wanted to press charges, so no arrests were made, but they are hoping to make an arrest in the case. Another incident here at the school. They tell us over the weekend, someone broke into the school and burn the pride flag belonging to a transgender teacher. According to the L A times that teacher has been moved because of safety concerns. I live in North
