DT Thanksgiving Table & Tribute to Love Ones Lost

[Music] hello everyone it's tony and thanksgiving is in just a few days so i wanted to show you what i did for my table setting like i do every year i set my table using dollar tree items just to show you how you can create a beautiful table for less this year i added a few beautiful silver pieces that i found at goodwill so i want to show you how that turned out that's coming up next but stick around till the end because i wanted to do a special tribute to the people that i love my family and friends to set my table today i am using from dollar tree six bronze colored charger plates six white wood gold ring bows and plates two decorative cream colored table runners burlap ribbon sheer and faux leather ribbon a few floral picks a bag of fall and metallic leaves and a couple of pieces of fall garland the tools i'm using today are scissors x-acto knife and gorilla hot glue gun with gorilla glue sticks now at the beginning of the fall i made these beautiful lit glass pumpkin centerpieces and if you click on a link above you can see how i made these since my centerpiece is already done let's finish the rest for the table for my place setting i'm using charger plates that i already had i got these a few years ago and i got them from dollar tree so i was really excited about them because they are really nice strong sturdy plates for just a dollar each also from dollar tree i got these really nice gold rim dinner plates and bowls i already had these in my possession too so i'm gonna use this setting as a nice fall color and it will go with my centerpiece these napkins will also match my centerpiece i already had these and what i'm gonna do right now is come up with a nice fall napkin ring this is something new from dollar tree i never saw this before but this is a faux leather ribbon and it's a perfect color i'm also going to use this sheer ribbon adding to that i'm going to use these metallic fall leaves i pulled these out of a bag of fall leaves from dollar tree and i got just enough to make six napkin rings but the color of the metallic leaves with the ribbon will tie the charger plates in with my centerpiece so let's see how we can put this together so i decided to cut six pieces of leather ribbon and six pieces of the sheer ribbon the leather ribbon is at 12 inches each and the sheer ribbon is a little bit longer at 13 inches i want this ribbon to go through the center of this metallic leaf so what i'm going to do is i'm going to fold the leaf in half and i'm going to use my x-acto knife and a ruler to cut a slit right in the center right near the edge of the leaf in the middle of the leaf and i'm going to make that slit just a little bit longer than the width of the ribbon so when a leaf is unfolded you'll have two slits right next to each other and i can thread my ribbon through those slits and right now i'm just using a leather ribbon and i'm just pulling through about two and a half inches so now i'm going to take a piece of my sheer ribbon and i want that to show up just right behind the leather ribbon and i want it to be a little bit longer so i'm going to position it so that it will show up next to the leather ribbon so i'm just going to put a little hot glue on the center and place the sheer ribbon on top at a slight angle now i'm going to roll that ribbon around so that i'll have a circle loop to hold my napkin but i want the sash on the right side to be the same as the sash on the left side so i'm going to put my fingers at the length of the first sash and then i'm going to glue the front part of this part of the ribbon to the center back of the piece at that point and i'm going to also glue that down at a slight angle also i'm using gorilla glue sticks because this leather ribbon doesn't stick very well so i'm going to glue the leather down first and then i'm going to glue the sheer ribbon down on top of the leather ribbon and now i have a beautiful little napkin ring and that's really nice but i think i might add one more little touch to it since i plan on having some silver pieces on my table i want to add just a little touch of sparkle to the center of this napkin ring so i think i'll put a few pieces of diamonds right in the center i'm going to cut a piece of this diamond wrap and just glue two little diamonds right in the center now let's see what this looks like on our napkin and i think that'll be just perfect okay next i want to work on my table runner right now on my table i have a very large table runner that i made i made this a year or so ago for christmas it is white and silver it's made with four dollar tree table runners and silver and burlap ribbon since i do have silver pieces that are going on a table this year i will keep this table runner here but i want to make a smaller one to go on top that will have some fall colors in it so for my second one i'm using two cream color table runners from dollar tree i put these on my table to make sure i knew how long i wanted it and then i pinned the two pieces in place now i'm going to use the hot glue to just tack down the table runners along the edges you could use fabric glue if you want or you can sew it together but i'm a little lazy this works just fine for me i don't usually have to wash it in a washing machine this could just be surface clean but i've never had to do that now to give this a more fall look and to tie it in with the other table runner i'm going to add some burlap ribbon to the edges i could only find ribbon with this lace i don't want to see the lace so i'm going to turn it upside down the white sewed lines are fine with me because the white will actually help it go well with my silver and white table runner that's going to be underneath this one so i'm hot gluing the burlap ribbon right on the edge right inside the edge of the table runner and i'm using one whole spool for one side and one whole spool for the other side and here is our second table runner so now i'm just going to place that on my existing table runner i had the first runner tied at the end so i'm just tucking that into the bowl and it goes all the way across the table and i think that makes a nice new update for a fall table runner now as i mentioned i went to dollar tree and found some nice silver pieces for just a few dollars each i usually find some very heavy pieces which are also very tarnished but a little secret if you take them home and polish them up they can look really beautiful i use right silver cream to polish my silver the new paste that i found was like a silver goblet made up of two pieces i actually think this might be book ends but i'm going to use these two pieces as silver vase so i'm going to do a couple of small floral arrangements for the table i'm cutting a few pieces of floral foam and putting it inside each silver face i'm going to cut some medium sized stems on three different floral picks and i'm using light colors i'm using these light daisies that look like sunflowers some fall leaves and berries and a white spray and i'll do another one for the other side of the table i think i'll add some brown berries to hang down the side yeah that works perfect now i think we're all ready to decorate the table so first i'm putting my center piece back on top of my silver platter by the way i got this silver platter a few years ago from goodwill for about six dollars on the tray i'm adding some dollar tree ceramic pumpkins that i had already and i'm using these to hide the wires and controller that i used to light my glass pumpkins now i'm going to use two pieces of fall garland to drape across each side of the table i also use a few of those leftover fall and metallic leaves that i use for my neck rings to place on the center piece to cover up some of the wires at the top now i can put my place setting down and my silver pieces i'm also adding some fresh pumpkin squash to the table and this is my new pumpkin lit fall thanksgiving table this year now most of these pieces i already had including the dishes and chargers and flowers so i spent practically nothing this year to put my table together but if you wanted to put everything together from scratch including the plates the charger the centerpiece and the goodwill pieces it will cost you about 55 dollars now you guys know i love thanksgiving thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it's around my birthday and that's the one time when my whole family comes in town my mother and sister from new orleans some family from new orleans and all of my friends i usually have 50 people over to my house for thanksgiving and i cook everything i love to cook and i spent a lot of time getting ready this year is going to be different because of covet i will just have my immediate family it's just going to be my husband and my kids this wasn't a a really hard decision for me because this year we lost a lot of people that we love and um i don't take that lightly i actually we actually lost my family and i lost about seven people personally that we know so this um this virus has really hit us hard i i recently lost my cousin david um my husband lost a very good friend of his andrew andrew would be the first person to get here every thanksgiving and he would have a mountain a plate of food that he would just sit and enjoy and and he's not going to be here it's been really hard on us shortly after that my husband lost another one of his friends my girlfriend lost her father my uh my uncle and it's just you know it's it's just too many to mention and i want you to be safe i want you to stay safe this holiday and i know it's hard but we can hang in there there's a vaccine coming out i think maybe in a few months we could start seeing something where we can have a vaccine but until then we're just gonna have to take precautions um including wearing mass i'm really asking you guys to be responsible not just for yourself but for everyone else so when i go out i wear a mask because i want to protect others i i don't know at all times if i had the virus so i keep my mask on and a mask is the best way we have right now to prevent the spread of the virus it's like to me it's like smoking we don't smoke around other people we're not allowed to smoke in restaurants because we don't have the right to spread our smoke you know to someone who it could harm and it's the same with the virus the mass helps keep our germs to ourselves so i protect you and you protect me in studies show that it does cut down on the spread of the virus so i'm asking you to um to do that at least for a while until we could get back to normal it's not a big deal to go out and put on a mass it's it really pains me to see people fighting over something really simple that we could do and if it's gonna help if it's gonna save somebody's life then why not do it so i want you guys to stay safe i love you so much i don't want you to have to go through the loss of a friend or a family um so i'm i'm just gonna do a little tribute to the people that meant so much to us also i'm including my uncle who i lost and we lost in january before we thought the virus was here he wasn't diagnosed with covet but just like everyone else he got the symptoms he got sick he had to go into the hospital said he had pneumonia it had to be put on a ventilator and he was gone before we knew it he was um just meant so much to our family he was a minister he was a comforter to us and he was just a wonderful person so he is going to be sorely missed so anyway i want you to take care and hang in here and we'll get through this together but be cautious and be safe and also have a wonderful holiday be creative i'm gonna be with my family on zoom uh after we eat so we're gonna still joke and talk and and enjoy each other which we do every day i facetime my mother and my sister maybe next year i'll be able to have thanksgiving again see you next
