Drummer Reacts to El Estepario Siberiano's Drum Cover of Blinding Lights

[Music] hey everybody welcome back to covers and commentary and welcome back to another episode of drummer reacts now I already listened to a song that was covered by estario saano on the drums it was a song that I was familiar with it was The Pretender by the Foo Fighters now in that video a lot of you most of you who left recommendations recommended I listened to his cover of blinding lights now I'm not going to make this entire Channel an estario saano Channel I might we'll see but apparently this song is another Banger and uh I'm really excited to see it hopefully you all are as well you all really loved the cover or the yeah the cover I watched of Pretender so we're going to do this and I make the uh I made the video here a little bigger so y'all can see what I'm talking about if there's stuff worth breaking down so let's Dive In oh hold on already stuff to read I'm not no no no stop stop stop stop stop I want to read this I can hear the song starting already I'm not using a double pedal to play this song I'm using a dualist oh my God a dualist single double pedal yep you change from a single mode to a double mode yep by hitting two levers with your heel that is oh man that way you can play groups that would be impossible on a conventional pedal I I played around with one of those one time and it is it's a lot harder than it looks granted once you get once you get the hang of it you can get some pretty intense riffs down but um yeah those are not not the easiest pedals especially if you're used to just your what you would traditionally use a single pedal for if you're used to that foot style this is very different so let's see how he uses it oh wait yeah cuz he's using it on this song but oh man how is he going to use it oh that's a snake snare drum that's a deep snare drum holy crap all right [Music] 16 pretty pretty traditional beat so far got hit whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa hold on hold on stop stop stop whoa hold [Music] on call holy crap he's he's bouncing he's doing a rim hit but bouncing the his other stick off the rim hit so you get that like kind of sound why does he have two drumsticks in his in his belt line what is happening right now okay oh call [Music] yeah oh I hated doing that single rolls where you like and you're basically you're doing a drum roll off the um off the rim of the snare drum that's how he's getting that done is by basically leveraging the the drumstick back and forth off of the snare drum like describing it that way makes it sound way simpler than it is [Music] anyway oh my God what a beat what a beat and he's still managing to get alternates in on the high [Music] [Laughter] hat this is amazing so he's doing he's doing two different Rim shots with the snares so you get that like but he's then hitting the main snare his higher snare not the one that's like insanely deep he's hitting that past where he's doing the rim shot so it's like you get 16th notes on on the actual Rim shot that is insane 16th note Rim shots with a snare alternate in the middle and and uh somebody actually mentioned this in a previe in the actually I believe the last esato saano video I did um he thought that what I was referring to is eighth notes were actually 16 the easiest way to think of the different types of notes I'm referring to is that if it's a quarter note that means that in a four bar or a four Note bar you're getting four notes 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 whereas with an eighth note that means there are eight notes that you're packing into or well if you played the full bar on eth notes you're getting eight notes in there so you know if you're doing 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 it would normally be 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 you're getting that all packed into one and if it's 16 well moving it on you're getting 16 notes packed into a 4 Note bar it's insanely fast that's how you're getting like 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 3 like I'm not even going to count that fast but it's like you get 1 two 3 4 but you're doing you know one two 3 4 1 and that's not even the right Tempo cuz I'm trying to explain this on the Fly just wanted to clear that up because somebody said I was referring to uh eighth's quarters or A's 16s but yeah that's what I mean so he's getting 16 on this freaking Rim shot set he's got going here that is [Music] insane oh hold on they're like showing the pedal down in the corner there man whoa holy crap how did I miss that I was like I'm hearing regular hits but I'm hearing what the heck did he do oh that's too slick my [Music] guy [Music] I'm kind I'm kind of speechless I never thought I never thought to do something like that so he's got his always closed High over High head over on the side he's just got two drumsticks in one hand vshape just getting getting it done and he's still getting there like BS Bo STS with the the off off time um offtime high hat with the snare in the Bas I feel so inadequate as a drummer I I need to go practice more I need to practice so much more holy crap and and like he's and he's using that double base or the double pedal and then we're just back to that opening set oh my [Music] God oh my God it's such a tight grouping of sounds oh he's not even using any Toms it's all snare symbol and base oh my God wait a minute did he only pack no way did he only pack he absolutely did only pack two extra drumsticks in because did he throw the other one away when he was done I missed that he just drops it that's why he put two in his belt line oh my [Music] God and he's and I'm like not even paying attention to just how fast his drum rolls are and how tight everything is oh my God this is insane this guy is this guy is just insan insanely talented the amount of practice this man must have under his [Music] belt I want to know more about this petal set so his so that does work similar to the one that I tried but he is putting way more Force into it than I did which is [Music] interesting [Music] interesting yeah so he's just man wow oh my God it's a beat that I can [Music] play never mind this guy is incredible [Music] until I feel your [Music] touch man and he still keeps the time on the high hat even when he goes off cuz he's using his other [Music] hand [Music] man I'm blinded by the lights no I can't sleep until I feel your touch God that's just hey everyone how are you doing this is a very very syy kind of like that's a good song it's not really my type of music to like review or anything this was Insanity I just this guy is just so freaking talented it is it is nuts I I yeah I mean we got
