hey guys what's up i'm mike levitsky today i'm reacting to trident track called voltage and this is coming from the band-made video reaction that i just did i want to say thank you so much to everyone who watched that video all of the support and the positive comments and the tons and tons and tons of suggestions that have come in today i'm hoping to record like 10 reaction videos and of course we'll do some more band-made but i got a lot of suggestions for a lot of japanese bands and a lot of bands that are all female that i've never heard of before and i'm super excited to check these bands out so today we're going to do trident we're going to do the track voltage and we're going to check it out if you're new to my channel i do things a little bit different this isn't just a video where i kind of sit quietly and watch somebody else do something i'm going to be pausing the video a lot and giving you my thoughts and kind of trying to do a bit of an analysis of what the drummer is doing i try not to do too much research on any of these bands before i watch them so i'm going in cold i'm going in fresh this is really the first time that i have ever seen or heard the music uh that that we're about to look at together i'm a drummer guitar player singer kind of all-around musician and i just love music so we're gonna have a great time today let's jump into it before we do you can use my links below to get 25 dollars worth of bitcoin when you deposit 100 on the voyager app or you can get four free stocks with weeble using my links in the description below also everything that i talk about in this video i'll make sure to put a link in the description below so whatever i mention it'll be down there let's jump into this video all right i would tell you a little bit more about this band but as you can see uh everything is in uh another language that i don't speak i'm assuming this is this is japanese there's a little bit of english here so we're gonna have to just go for the video i think the drummer's name is juna j-u-n-n-a but i don't know how to pronounce it uh i've i've never heard her play and i'm excited so let's check it out this is voltage [Music] oh man whoa whoa whoa whoa all right super high energy super high energy listen to this phil right off the bat right here [Music] nice really really nice dug that let's go back and see if we can grab a shot of the drums all right so we got a pearl drum set maybe a five piece this might be a master's work uh okay uh look at all the tape she's got under the symbols here this could be for recording or it could be for uh what they're they're doing here in the video oftentimes you put tape on the bottom of the cymbals to to dry them out and to shorten the decay so the more tape you put on it the the shorter the decay of the cymbal will be so when you crash a cymbal normally it's like but if you put tape on it it'll just go and it'll decay a lot faster full of energy i don't know how old this person is but my goodness let's let's listen to her play a little bit when we get overhead shot of the drums i'll stop it and we'll look at what she's playing [Music] oh my goodness all right did you hear that that's that's some good high hat work on the foot so she's doing the open close up on the higher listen it's kind of like a an old school old school like disco beat only super fast you got four on the bass drum both feet are going and then super nice oh yeah so there's our name j-u-n-a i think it's junia or yunya yuna i'm not sure how you pronounce that you guys can try to do the phonetic spelling in the comments down below and let me [Music] [Applause] oh know fill in and kind of rocks this is like punk rock or rock usually you don't have here a triplet phil everything's usually 16 now so you go you know and here she went triple let's listen to that fill right [Music] [Applause] [Music] there [Music] [Applause] [Music] yes [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so i don't know if she's playing a double bass drum pedal but listen to this bass drum pattern [Music] that that that's amazing she's gotta have a double bass drum or else she's got amazing feet [Music] very super clean and sounding great [Music] [Applause] all right all right so we can see the drum set now i know she's got a splash symbol i can hear it so she's playing a five piece kit uh probably a 22 inch bass drum it's hard to tell on the toms but i'm assuming it's 10 12 16 14 inch snare drum i think i can zoom in a little bit for us that looks like pearl's version of the black beauty which is like a chrome over brass kind of snare i don't know the name of uh pearl's version of that but she's got a china symbol a ride symbol two crash symbols a splash symbol down here and she does have a double bass drum pedal so i knew that she had to have a double fish from you can see down here so she's playing double bass drum and she's got her foot right now on the uh the extension or the slave side of the pedal and so if you don't play drums you don't know what a double bass drum pedal is she's got two bass drum beaters and then there's a a a slave pedal over here that connects with kind of this apparatus that has two universal joints on it that allows you to manipulate the uh the bass drum beater via your left foot so and man so clean her playing is so clean let's keep going let's keep going [Music] so it's like four strokes on the bass drum one two three four and then the fifth on the snare do [Music] [Applause] nice okay that was that was cool so these hits let's check these hits out i'm gonna listen to these again but uh we had that one coming in on the on the and instead of like on the downbeat usually it's like one two three four uh and they were like one two three uh like up on the on the on the upbeat [Applause] [Music] more triplets right there this man is great [Music] nice on the tongue [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right switching the beat up to all quarter notes on this here check it check the chat to do that dude [Music] yes [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh yeah oh man so good so good thank you so much this this uh suggestion by the way came from brother bluto it's b-r-u-t-h brother pluto brother bluto thank you so much for sharing this with me my goodness uh juna or yuna or i'm not sure how to say her name but wow super super good drummer very very clean really rocking the double bass drum pedal well good mixture of triplets nice use of the toms her drum set is tuned uh really well as well like i like the sound of her toms like everything sounds really great it's mixed really well uh this is interesting this tom is like up higher than uh you know the other tom so for her to go up and then come back down usually uh this would be opposite like the smaller tom is kind of higher and then the mid tom goes down so that makes kind of a more smooth transition she's got her set up a little bit different um she's got the the pearl uh i'm gonna turn the volume down so i can keep talking while the video plays through uh the pearl drum set so pearl is a company that's been around forever uh they make really nice drums i can't what type of symbols is she using let's see if we can oh they're sabians i just caught the corner of it so savian symbols is what she's playing it's hard with a video like this with the cuts like being so that's a good there's a good i should use that for the thumbnail right there oh man anyway um so it's it's hard with these with these videos there's a thumbnail one right there um right there i'm getting some thumbnail pictures um it's it's hard to tell what kind of symbols she's using with these crazy cuts in this video but um yeah so good wonderful wonderful wonderful so i'll check some more out of her and some other videos maybe there's a drum play through or something that she does that we can look at but if you haven't heard of trident before or voltage go check them out i'll link to this video in the description down below and uh i'm gonna definitely check out some more of this this lady's drumming because it it's really really good really good well thanks for hanging out with me guys today i hope
