hey hey what is up Rush tube Andrew Rooney here full-time drummer drum teacher based right here in Oakland New Zealand we are back with some more Rush this time working man live by Rush on the time machine Tour live in Cleveland now I was pretty sure I'd done this one I know it's been requested I know it's been requested on the channel a lot and actually the person who sent me this incredible Iron Maiden t-shirt amongst other incredible IM Maiden merch aside from being an IM Maiden fan requested that I check out this and this person is asking to remain nameless which makes them [Music] a SP from Russ at all me I can live my i i i gu [Music] me let me call me the walk I that whole stage of B Riser is [Music] shaking look at that go back and have another look that is a lot of movement for a drum kit I mean I personally find that quite disconcerting if the drums are moving around that much but um obviously you know Neil's comfortable with it look at that [Music] [Applause] [Music] wow go the RO [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so so far in the song we've had three distinct feels or feel changes so here we're in a very standard on top of the beat eighth note feel we had the halftime feel before and then we had a halftime uh rig F reaching out into different areas and genres uh really really cool stuff off [Applause] [Music] [Music] oh [Applause] [Music] [Music] we going shell around over here [Music] [Applause] a [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] it's sa to me I can live my is for me well they call be the walking [Music] man well they call me the I can [Applause] [Music] tell crowd's losing their minds [Music] [Applause] oh is this the same [Applause] song nice I love that thank you in Cleveland Ohio best audience ever we appreciate it so much and we hope we see you again sometime down the road bye as with all of my Rush reactions um well all of my reactions full stop but espe the rush stuff in terms of of you know I've literally never heard any of these songs before in my life um because you know Rush as I've said before and people struggled to seemingly struggled to understand this Rush wasn't a big band here at all the only time I heard about Rush was when I went to music school because my drum instructor was a Canadian and he would mention rush you know every now and then in passing and that was about it I had heard of rush I had heard of Neil H anyway what's my point here my point is there is far too much on a onetime listen on a first time lessen to try and pick apart what's going on with Rush um and Neil Pier drum parts so maybe I think for this one I'm going to have to go in perhaps into Dro and have a look at the note fornote transcription which they have available on the site and you as a subscriber to my Channel Try and mention this on every video you've got access to all those resources you can actually go on they've got every Rush song ever recorded uh you can just go on and you can see note for note what Neil p is playing so maybe we should do that another video I don't know you let me know you let me know in the comments if you want to do a deep dive on the song and we can check out exactly what's going on because the the amount of language and vocab that was going on especially during Alex's guitar solo it's a lot I mean there was a lot going on there and it's just can be quite overwhelming there was a lot of Peaks and valleys too some real band builds that Neil just accentuated with those uh really note dance fills into the next part and real roller coaster of a journey through the Rhythm Section um for that uh guitar solo amazing like the trash can ending at the end absolutely fantastic brilliant no one does a trash can any like Neil p and we've got these uh different feels which I'm not that accustomed to with rush and like namely the the reggae feel uh which is really cool too so yeah there's a lot to take in here and not to mention the lyrics which I realize a lot of the time Neil has wrote himself so yeah when you when you take in all of this um solo comping vocab on the drums you got the lyrics which I wasn't really paying that much attention to the lyrics at all to be honest there I was trying to take in the whole um performance um and then you've got you know wild guitar solos and some really interesting sort of slap almost strum base technique from giddy yeah what a trio absolutely fantastic stuff and guys remember check out my Rush playlist which is ever growing and uh yeah a whole bunch of stuff in there obviously at this point
