hey hey what is up YouTube we are back with another one of Eric isaacson's picks still getting over that previous one man that was an absolute Banger now the second request is for Queens Reich this time I'm recommending the opening track from their self-titled 1982 debut EP Queen of the rack this is a live performance from the same 1984 Tokyo performance so you can see drummer Scott rocken vocal register just from the way he talks uh talking to the crowd and you got to love hair metal I used to be in a hair metal band was [Music] tough Chris need the Scott Rock [Music] [Music] already already I have to stop this again and say great singles now there's one thing to be able to play singles at that speed not a insanely fast speed you know on the pad the way he's playing them at that amount of weight and the Showmanship to go with it like the big swinging um arms really really impressive technique already I'm already digging this again Eric isacson you've done it [Applause] the your soul s away it's the the oh my God if Iron Maiden ever needed a different singer I've been sleeping on Queens Reich apparently because this is hot man this is another gang vocal Harmony cross I can tell you're into this Eric uh and we've just got this I haven't even got to the drumming the drumming is phenomenal who is the drummer here I know you did tell me the name I'll get it at the end distracted by those insane vocal chops now I have heard of the band Queens Reich I've heard the name of Queens re I don't know I mean I could scroll through some songs I couldn't tell you for sure any Queens Reich song that I know five minutes later okay I just had a quick a very very quick scroll through um their biggest songs and none of them stood out as anything I recognize Jeff Tate on vocals telling you to be able to sing like that live 84 I believe it was too probably didn't even have in ears it was probably all just you know stage volume and fallback my god um now drums this one time at band camp coming back to your original message here Eric isix you see there's a live performance from the 84 Tokyo performance you can see drummer Scott rockenfield kit and style yeah he's got that classic really crossed over U hand position which you'll see with drummers like LZ oric from Metallica and that is due to it's a positional thing with in terms of like having double bass drums and where you need your high hat stand in relation to the snare and and the cuz there's a lot of stuff going on down there when you start getting that much gear you know down at your feet especially with two bass drums it takes up a lot of space and two bass drums are typically typically going to be quite spread apart um which means it's going to push your high hat pedal further to the left which means you have to reach over which means you get that really sort of quite extreme crossover going uh these days they'll probably try and avoid that perhaps with having an auxiliary P high hats a little bit you know so you can play in a nice comfortable position but anyway in terms of Kit and style just a quick note on that drums fantastic I'm actually really excited about um this new drama for me and this new band for me cuz this band is absolutely killer any band that's going to have dueling harmonized guitar solos gets a big tick from me straight away it was a great song I'm surprised I've never heard I don't think I've ever heard that song in my life I think that's completely new to me and I as I said I can't name you another Queen's Ro song I mean this is right up there in terms of the peak of hair metal this is 8 4 so it's I guess pretty early and we've still got I was talking about this on the previous uh video we're coming out of that late '70s thing where we had this nice band dynamic in terms of the vocal harmonies and the vocal style to support a really um a virtual oo singer um it was almost a slightly heavier like um again please do Go Gentle on me for saying this like a heavier Journey you know Journey obviously Sensational World beating vocal ability uh from Steve pury and the band this was up there with that for me the style was a bit more iron maen I felt but those beautiful backing when they when that backing came in I was thinking man this is actually not dis similar to journey and that is huge UPS from from me to Queens right because I'm a big Journey fan come on who isn't even if you're not a journey fan you are actually a journey fan little little nonf fact there um but just a an awesome song great hook great chorus big guitar solo and it's just tight I mean this is live and it's tight the drumming was actually surprisingly busy there were big FS all all around the kit great pocket great pocket I love the way this guy plays I love it when it comes to to rock when it comes to Stadium style Rock I want the drummer to be really clear in terms of like Clarity of plane he was he had so much air and so much Clarity in his plane metronomic in terms of time incredible time and it just he just had a Great Sound he just produced naturally a great Acoustic sound from an acoustic drum cat Sensational drummer like this is 10 out of
