alright guys so this is the much-awaited video about Drew's truck it is an f-350 with a repower project you guys have heard me talk about drew for a few videos now it's his channel is Drew Mann's driveway there will be a icon in the video where you can go right to his channel and watch this build series if you guys are watching my stuff you probably really like truck stuff and this is no different this is definitely a very very interesting series to watch now we're gonna go around Drew's truck we're going to talk about what the truck is what it used to be what he changed why he changed and the parts he used to do it and we're gonna go over some of the details of it and it's it's it's a very very good quality build lots of attention to detail drew did a fantastic job on this build you're gonna have to suffer through some wind noise we didn't realize it was that windy this day it is what it is I don't have like you know quality video equipment I just I got a better camera now but I hope you guys can suffer through it you may just have to read what we're saying and some of the spots but they trust me it's worth suffering through it to see this this is truly beautiful truck bill look there how we doing all right it was still running I was having issues with a started an ID I imagine that the weakest link of the truck was not the motor it was a transmission right because it was any 4od if it was a manual transmission probably still be there maybe so but this isn't an ID I know it's not because there's something 194 yet 190 horse on land horse with an allison 8545 so the weak link today is 545 18 545 so the problem the 18 545 is it's an on lock up converter and it's a direct drive so it eats a ton of horsepower because you never actually get the torque converter to quit slipping that's the real problem and there's no overdrive once ratio in the rear four times four tens and of course the tire size is not quite stock these are 22 five slope rows as we call is that your unlock but you can go a little bit lower now what about if you go to a smaller tire size does that hurt your speed what do you at what do you top out now 65 I could do like 66 and you see this what is this Chevy seats okay so you made your own brackets and this is a rhinoliner aligners you have reliable Ford gauges now yeah because they're made by somebody else no AC yet no I will talk about the parking brake any minute that's really cool we can't really show them the park that's what I was surprised we talked about I expected to see it got four little minis what is ten more times there are they wired to come on thermostatically controlled by the ECU pieces all so just like this a little different yeah here the electric over here fan clutch she's interesting because they work necklace look the way I had it hooked up originally the fans around all the time because they're to close it or take power way to open it yeah so you had to do the relay backwards then yes all it was 168 balls in there yeah they don't keep the charge and you got these little bitty battery cables here these little three aughts yeah you know but a good nice quality this is a quality install like we just saw the video for this maybe down the road yeah the next modification there's that that's the nice bracket to I mean just a lot of nice finishes like your hydro boost to get all those nice one of them call you know ans I always confuse a energy I see make sure they see the same thing I think the ends are a little bit more precise more precision seen flaring the reading sight glass fair fuel yeah I thought I had cool issues I hadn't so we keep talking about this the things I've seen [Music] I saw this video that you made you had you and set this in place yet yeah and I'm like what's this young fella doing here and I put me on I subscribed immediately you know it was interesting a Ford with the cat diesel you know if forward when it came out with this in the beginning could you imagine how much better their trucks would have been I mean even though this is only 190 horse in its day is six nine or seven three IDI what were they similar pull it a lot less torque I mean the torque on this is probably I hate to say a number but it's got to be insta 500 yeah I would say I was I was thinking that in somewhere in the fours maybe in the low low to mid 4s but still what a huge difference it could have never held up with a key for OB but you know this the 8545 is good for 235 worst [Music] yeah I like I mean I like all your brackets you've made wiring wiring totally good this says yeah and I like how you do your stuff like like you found the the coolant risk for major bracket ear yeah you know figuring stuff out it doesn't look like it's a just that looking yeah alright so it has a hydraboost brakes to push a run off the power steering pump down here and it originally had an automatic transmission with a parking pawl which now you don't have doesn't have part so you had welcome back this is a really [Applause] see how good our cameraman is meet up actuate it oh yeah that'd be excellent wait he'll have to see how you actuated so this is a parking brake that's released so here's this parking brake cables the original parking brake cables you can see they're loose now all right go ahead you're so you built a a rod assembly with is that is that just a 30 20 or 30 brake chamber oh okay okay so you're not using spring break side of it so it uses the spring to apply the brake okay so you are you and the new transmission doesn't have to work either well it's got a neutral only I didn't think about that is benefit recently we watched the video of the new steps now those are cool custom setup steps with rebar and a little bit sheetmetal that was nice I watched the layout of this amazing another detail like I like it I like it a lot but anyway so he came down this now what's your plans this driving daily like this what you really weren't meant to say is you needed more traction yeah I need a new track yeah my winter weight [Music] build up [Music] with that size fire I mean so what's the future plans for the truck beside the transmission oh I guess we kind of [Music] mom a lot different between the two 31 normally you're different [Music] so after after this what's your next plans for the drum and the transmission because you're gonna have that in like three days right more like so after that I'd really like to work on the back end [Music] [Music] it's got typicall typicall this year this vintage frame issue so would you come back to our little place in Ohio if somebody had a air-ride suspension we might take a walk I don't know but I might have I might have words but I think now if you changed the air ride would you change rear axle or did you keep that same same axle because most of the trying time the trucks were going to see with air ride suspension handling 370 great have fun man what your for tens now so basically if you could get a for ten you can have air you get parking break down I might have a four time I think I do I think I have a 410 rear axle which will have this right dry chip out of course you're gonna transfer there may or may not be you know [Music] other engines and plus I know the Catman so happened to Batman as a hook-up is nice yeah so I was and this is where this is where international got the news [Music] they are and I agree I like the 31:26 and a lot of guys don't like them doing cat guys tend to think that 31:26 is a redheaded stepchild right it's not a wet line motor it's lower horsepower it's not a real cat well they sure do a lot of work my old freight liner over there it's a 3126 and man you guys see what we do with it it's a good old truck yeah of course it's gonna get an upgrade if we keep it because I have a 300 horse 31:26 with a nine speed mine is a 210 with a six-speed and my biggest complaint with that truck is not that it won't do we need to do is the fact that when you're shifting the spread between the gears is so wide that when you go from six year the fifth gear down shift or fifty-six to upshift your RPM range is so drastic that if you're down shifting to fifth you have to basically downshift when you're doing nothing and then you can't build it doesn't make enough power to build enough speed so the nine speed has a closer ratio on each gear so it'd be a much closer 300 horse won't do that and it's the same point transmission is a little heavier but it's not horrible otherwise I think we probably leave along that 210 I think these topics and I don't think you can go any higher so I can't get it and power wise it would be okay just needs some more years but this is I really like this and the day I saw you starting to build this I really liked it factory air compressor you got an air dryer on the frame set up just the way it needs to be no troubles and you've got you've been you made a trip which we're not going to talk about where because that hasn't come out yet okay so you've been up to the boss garage yeah in Canada five hours yeah it was five trouble-free hours mostly well to eat issue wintertime in candidates good water did you I bet in Canada they use fool and you have additive in here what do you think we were going through a valley I think it just got real cold do you think it anything do that small filter code I was being it was plastic good when we stopped to check it out it was all cloudy inside there and that's where source was a benefit was insulated it's like but anyway so you had five hours virtual trouble-free and you drove six hours here and you've been driving it daily one problem you've ever had was operator here yeah yeah I was being boys finding the limits but a good good swap this is and we'll have to get some more video the bracketry because it's quality it's it's not a hodgepodge it's a very nicely done attention to details you know it shows you know it's the planning was here I agree about the four fans you've probably even in the summertime unless you have air conditioning running you probably never run that pants yeah I mean they were hooked up backwards all that summer but you didn't know it yeah yeah it usually doesn't get much about 200 degrees or something yeah that's pretty attractive so are you gonna put air conditioning on it are you not decided I can save up enough money convince my wife hey so what is it you need for the air 50 this is AC compressor just the compressor that's all okay no I have a guy do you have a gun you have a guy now yes'm I have a guy you have a good I like air conditioning I like the fact that his power ones and power locks and you made the cruise controller think of all the things that creature comforts on the truck the only it doesn't work as the air conditioning and that's just a matter of time and the money time and funds yes I'm sure we've got that stuff may even have ford lines laying around the push-to-connect that spring deal that week all the time if not frightening me yeah I got an intercooler bottom here what's the intercooler front o six International School Bus it looks very familiar of the 50 half-and-half stand up and down is that what it is I don't know if it stood up and down it was sitting in the back someone and I to remove the whole cooling stack and just sit in the back of the pot this one's for the transmission G 545 gets hot a lot of shear and that's just a power steering cooler and then there's your AC conventional yep and the radiators out oh it's out of this truck yeah [Music] and a vacuum pump on the idea so what's cool de I appreciated came out of 2011 people yeah so what make you choose that one it's amazing what we do for cheap yeah we rebuild a whole entire truck around a free motor right very nice oh say any other thank you oh we talk bunch of wiring your cat guy hooked you up so you took the like most people don't maybe don't know caterpillar on their knee Sam has two connectors on this one this is a it's not a 70 pin it's a 72 70 pin I'm sure see I can I can't even see over this I'm pointing at things I can't see so you you took the original harness and did you repin this yeah I took all the pins out of it and then look at the diagram figure out what I need to make creature comforts I wanted to hook up and that's maybe that's a good that's a good place to put that motor in that 65 maybe I should take my 210 horse out of my freight liner and put it in 65 uses in tow truck I might be a good idea we'll have to see maybe your cat I'll hook us up anyways very nice job very nice remember what I said when he first pulled in a stop sign I was in the shop and I can tell it with your truck between the 8545 because you know how these sound the 31:26 has its own sound 8545 makes the cat sound like the phillies you took off from the red light I knew with you I could walk out here and I knew it was your truck and I've never seen this truck or her destructive force it has a very distinct sound it sounds very good now we should starting the exhaust just so we know this is only here for a short guys [Music] all right so your tip is 5 at 6 inch 6 inch in the this pipe here 5 minutes 5 inch the rest of the way transfer case is a new process tool 5 divorce and here's the here's the drive shaft drew broke the first one this is a second bill around and there's this brake chamber first parking brakes that works this lever here and then he's got a little what we call a jockey chef going from the transmission to the transfer case like this cut tiny those u joints are compared to what you're going to be messing with there's your Bendix air dryer which works we've heard it boy is that a tight fit their spin on filter for as 8545 then up here to the massive how many gallon oil pan is that eight grant gallons nice new brake lines those sure look familiar nickel copper yeah boy they sure are nice and straight nice bends I tore all the old brake lines right out of it start it over all nickel copper and I got a love-hate relationship with that stuff didn't steal the best you can really crank them you know what I use that master cool or master tool hydraulic press and I've always had a good seal I've never had any troubles with them but I just can't get I can't get them to look as nice as I want to look yeah I struggle with that of course we saw a video about some kingpins dana 60 under here bluetooth driveshaft there's their compressor and the power steering pump like she's developed a little oil leak yeah yeah it's Kats own built in anti rust it's pretty dry though except for that there's another bracket you made for your shifter fuel lines and you just change he's got half-inch fuel lines all the way the front here's his air tank he may check out these awesome brackets he made here that's really nice there's another one on the others on the top a little them brake drums look inside then 22:5 very nice drew the thing we didn't talk about is this don't fit isn't this bed is actually a dump it's electric over hydraulic we can't lift it right now because you know the straps are holding it down so you know this doesn't get away somebody be tailgating all the way home a little that Xbox here's some pictures of the whole project from start to finish she brought the engine home and pulled the cab off old motor and transmission out and cuts out the front crossmember builds the zone you know and gets a gets this motor set down in there it's so much taller than the original IDI but you see the IDI over a corner garage here massive fit I mean it fit nicely underneath there's just a massive engine there's this brand new jockey shaft from the transmission to the transfer case he put had the front drive shaft end and he must take it back out there he's got his hair true arch our air charge cooler in there and transmission cooler he's building his front bumper right here you guys can enjoy these pictures and see all the details on the build I thought it'd just be a nice touch because if we didn't get to see a whole lot of it there's this his brake chamber for the emergency brake right there that was a really cool idea but just such a nice build I mean I think you guys really enjoy Drew's channel and what he does he's getting ready to pull this transmission that was the big thing was he want to get that transmission from a truck we had cuz it's already set up for a 31:26 and all the wirings there and controllers and all that kind of stuff so he'll be taking the 8545 out and put in the Allison Indy 30 60 we believe it is what was in that truck and we put it in here which will give me should give him two OverDrive's and I gave him some grief about that wiring right there I was I was just kidding around cuz everything looks so good and in the wiring was just kind of a little little nest over there of unfinished he's got stuff he's going to do it he'll clean it up he'll get it all buttoned up it just hasn't made it on the list yet you know the things have been priority but once he gets down this new transmission he you'll have to OverDrive's if I remember correctly the first overdrive would be 0.75 to 1 the second one's gonna be 0.65 to 1 so effectively he'll be reducing his rpms by what 35% in his second overdrive so there's a driveshaft very first one he broke he was trying to do a burnout and didn't realize is he had the master cylinder in backwards he had the front brakes going to the rear in the rear to the front but anyways check it out I think you guys would really like his channel and hopefully you subscribed to him and look for future videos to come
