Dredging In The Bering Sea, Nome Alaska

yeah what's going on what are we doing today partying man the party on the bottom of the ocean oh yeah yeah we gotta have this thing going going dredging today look at this whose rig is this this is davies davies rig davey's sweetheart they're cool what is it a eight inch it's an eight eight inch director with a 40 a 40 horse kohler cool and uh got air in it not beer all right yeah it's got air in it a lot more air than one of those little yeah hey that works i told him to cut that in half and fill it half with beer and half his hair but he wouldn't do it no that's a good idea i've seen guys have beer in there in their pocket and they got a little hose they can get up that's ridiculous oh geez yeah a little bit of water too would help you yeah a little water a little bit of water would be nice i would have to tell the diver you're scaring me but you know some people they put a little whatever in it you know i mean i could see some people doing that and that's why they have them on camera that's why they have problems they can't get up in the morning exactly yeah yep here we are early in the morning and the sun's shining let's get out there and dredge if we get out there and get gold next time you guys go out should be seven six o'clock yeah hey night nine's pretty early for around here that's for sure well the best time of days at like 11 o'clock at night yeah no way part of here gold would be okay but we need two ounces yeah two ounces would be about three ounces we'd be even better we really got to get on a hot spot to get that though yeah yeah yep well it sure is possible to get announced a day with this thing no problem easy you're on the right spot yeah yeah but it's possible to get skunked too and it's hard it's hard to you gotta prospect for a while before you find those spots and every year it changes so you have to prospect almost every year oh yeah yep that's the problem so your coordinates from last year aren't good this year because it could be a sandbar on it or something exactly davey had some good coordinates from a couple years ago yeah when we when i went down i mean we didn't do very good but i was down for an hour and a half and we got like 16 grams geez so it was a good area but now it's half out it's no good you never know yeah so you go poke a hole yeah well just a little bit of gold so we can uh just resupply our wallets get yesterday all the screw boats went out that way they're all in time cod we're going uh we're going to the wreck area which is we're going to be going left out here and uh all the big boys they went to the right down there that's uh tom and all the claims are down that way look at the size of that dredge is a big one look at the nozzle on that that's like huge that's a problem yeah it's like a crawler yeah yeah they lower that it's like a it's like a little tank up over there in the background we got myrtle irene stolen dry dock yeah this is where they fix and build stuff over here in this lot myrtle's way up there yeah that's where the cranes are over yeah there it is right behind that red crane is the range getting worked on there's a couple big ones there's a huge problem that trouble is gigantic that's the one those are the what's in those big bucket line dredges oh they were oh there we go we're coming out of gnome harbor right here here's the outdoor uh out of walls right in front of us is the open bering sea there you go this is where the the harbor here meets the ocean so dave is this the worst part right here pretty much this is the hardest part to navigate it's not too bad today but sometimes it's pretty rough right yeah the right between the harbor and the ocean yeah the current's pretty tough right here yeah yeah that's not bad today you can see the swells start picking up so we're in the ocean right now it looks like there's a couple dredges ahead of us they beat us to it one over there because we've been out there all night yeah they probably uh anchor down huh yeah yep city of gnome right there big building back that's a hospital hopefully we won't wind up there today there's a gnome beach we're just cruising right along getting out to the claim we're going to the where we going gary wreck area yeah right up here where the sand starts let's rock and the sand starts yep all right so yeah we're going right up here this is the wreck area so anyone can go there right eight inch or less eight inches eight inch or less so you can go to the wreck area so that's where uh that's where we're heading let's see we got a dredge out there dredge right out there this couple over here a couple dredges out that way one in front of us so not too many guys out today it's a beautiful day i don't know why we got one two three four five and six six treasures today big gold rush going on over here all right we're almost there this sledge island is that sludge island what's that island that big one that sledge island back there cool let's sledge island some mountains nice florida gnome so this boat here this was vernon's old boat yeah originally it was a bearing booty mary the merry booty oh bearing booty yeah this is the bearing booty there's not a dredge in our spot that's good cool we got the we got our spot back it looks like there's a little one out there but he's down further that's cool i'll get you there so this was the original bearing booty and uh vern had this yeah changed hands twice and then now it's the golden haze and then i bought it third cool third yeah i like yeah this one ah i got it last year last year technically i haven't paid for it oh okay you're you're uh this is the year i got paid off you got to pay a little a time yeah that's cool let's go you can do that just go out get gold pay it off it's stressful yeah yep time patience yeah fuel money hope yeah money hope freaking weather weather yeah that's a word that's your worst enemy isn't it weather that keeps you in location yeah yeah it sucks when there's a storm and you can't go out for a week and get money yeah you gotta eat a lot of top ramen yeah a lot of ramen noodles go through this boat we're gonna change that though we're gonna get some gold today today's the day today's the day we're gonna do it cool just anchored up now we're starting all the motors getting the sluice box ready getting the diver ready so we got gary gary's all suited up he's going down side of the air the air is going and we're just gonna start the main box okay that's a big motive for the era plenty of horsepower 390 wow that's a nice motor oh yeah so that spreads the water all over your suit huh yeah ah sweet oh it's like this is an oopaloopa so that's a real cold water suit cool there you go what do you duct tape look he's got duct tape going to shoot the box all right oh forgot one yo there he goes he's just following the hose right down to the bottom there he goes dive it down yeah he just brought a buoy down now he's breathing pretty damn heavy so we put a buoy on to help lift the hose yeah yeah i was pretty pretty heavy on him huh he's happy about it now he could move around a lot easier yeah he was singing and dancing a second ago that's the way i like it oh yeah he's happy now cool what do you say you found a puddle of gold earlier yeah he was battering blue spots and they found a bottle of like said like 30 pieces jeez 30 pieces all together he must have flipped over a rock or something yeah he said it looks like it might have been gone over but then he's finding stuff like that yeah so yeah it doesn't sound like it so he's just kind of prospecting right now and walking around looking cool he said it's really easy to suck off the top because the layla isn't very shallow yeah we must like what he's seeing he's still down there yeah he's happy yeah he's happy singing he's dancing he's been down in the water for quite a while uh he did find some gold he said he found a nice little puddle of gold with like 30 pieces in it not too long ago so just go down there he's been down for a little bit so i'm shooting up starting to get ready and i'm gonna head on down there you see some gold i see some piece of gold in there all right let's see what we got see it right there right down in there see it in the corner oh yeah nice little chunky right there sitting right there cool there's going to be a little gold in here oh yeah oh i definitely saw a few flakes go for sure a little bit more than a few flakes i definitely though yeah that's a big box look how big this is all the way down there is two inches it's two inches thick layers right there yeah most of the gold is gonna be down stuck way down in that yeah no big nuggets obvious but that box goes way up there you can't even see that again back underneath the next one you can get underneath the rocks and hook around all right there we go [Music] yeah give him a little excitement for the day well nothing obvious on top but they said it's two inch thick miners boss so there could be anything hiding in there i guess we'll just have to wait for the cleanup yeah awesome well good day everyone got to dive in we got three three different dives in yeah probably we'll find some gold yeah we got at least six hours yeah six hours in that box that's pretty good six maybe seven what do you think of today's voyage good good voyage except for this thing oh the cotton box would have went out on you though that's all right but we'll get it fixed it worked out but everything else was great huh yeah boat ran good yeah i'm drinking some beer now yeah yeah cool let me get a shirt on we are a busy day out here jesus dredges everywhere all over the place dredges everywhere there's a dredge there a bunch of people on the beach some smaller dredges those beach dredges they just go up from uh the shore there uh let's see we got dredge there a couple dredges in the horizon we got a drone over there uh i think that's just cargo dredge dredge dredge dredge dredge dredge there's judges everywhere cool someone's flying a drone out there oh it's emily oh the last one that's emily's up there yeah maybe she's in a bikini yeah good day we just ran out of gas i guess that's the only problem huh we're in the boat out of gas so we had to come in that's a good thing to happen yeah when you run out of gas i'm still yeah and we had a lot of guys we just i got the only plug up for the day no no didn't you get one two one i got one but shook it and it unclogged so i wouldn't officially call it there we go city of gnome there's a rainbow in the background look at that cool rainbow behind the good old city of gnome there it is there's literally millions of dollars of gold right below us just gotta suck it up we're coming back into gnome harbor yep that's a cool dredge right there looks like a cutter head on that one look at the cutter head thing on that one that's cool that's a rust bucket but that is huge that's a big dredge i wonder what size freaking a hose that is looks gigantic there's another dread someone's working on some dredge parts a couple trommels all kinds of stuff all kinds of cool stuff in this part of gnome this whole lot and then there's a lot behind it it's a half full of smaller dredges look at all the shipping containers all the new cars there's a dump truck another dump truck a van they got a new fire truck yeah yeah it's a fire truck or something that's how they ship here just right right on top right on top of the cargo containers there we go that's the snake river and then we're turning this way into the small vessel harbor this is where we are our home let's see there's the gold ship right over there that's our home and there's zeke zeke's in that uh sailboat right over there he's getting that down that's uh a dredge uh sluice box on the side of the sailboat so i think that's the first sailboat that we'll have a dredge on it that'd be pretty cool the black swan what are you guys doing yeah we got it all in there oh he got in there nothing holds a lot of material huh we got a big huge over and under let's get back down you hoping for a lot of gold i bet oh yeah you see some nice streaks yellow up front oh yeah a little bit if you did a little test pan there's something a little bit this is golden pretty fine right here for cons you don't want the second jets to come out you want them it wanted to boil down underneath yeah okay i kind of you can adjust this so there's more of a boil down there for cons i gotta level it out a little bit all right we're gonna uh
