[Music] [Music] spring has finally sprung around here in southeastern wisconsin which means it's time to put away the shovels and get the bikes off for another season [Music] a perfect time for a deep cleaning and a deep dive into the details of this place so let's go back inside and take a look around [Music] i'm jt the dusty dutchman welcoming you back to the dutchman's den [Applause] [Music] so we're back to answer some of your questions from the original video show you what's new around here and show you how we went from this to this so the space that we had to work with was a 25 by 24 foot garage that looked like this first thing we had to do is clean it completely out and then build a loft now the loft i needed right away because i needed a place to put a lot of the things that we had just pulled out of here so the next thing after that was to take this blank canvas and start running electrical after the electrical then we went back and we insulated everything after we insulated then we started to sheet everything off and paint it after that that's when the fun started because then we got to start doing the trim bringing the stereo equipment the tv all my tools all the bike parts got to figure out how we wanted to make this wall look cool with the reclaimed wood so after all the major components were installed we finally got to move everything in here and see how it all worked and there are a few things that have changed over the year one was i had to figure out where to put my rooftop tent which is really large and heavy and awkward so i stuck it in the rafters it's on a pulley system so i can pull my truck in lower it down with the pulleys bolt it up and i'm on my way and then when i'm done pull the truck in hook it up hoist it back into the rafters and there it sits up and out of the way a couple of other improvements i've done since the last video is i cleaned up the rafters area in order to make room for a ceiling fan and some more lights i had to have my own logo lit up and on display [Music] and lastly of course i needed some merch so i started putting my logo on all kinds of stuff next i want to answer some of the most common questions i got from the original video one being where did i get my countertop and my cabinets so my cabinets are special order from a local home improvement store called menards which is like a lowe's or a home depot you just order them online pick your color and your size and six to eight weeks later this is what you get the countertops are a little bit more difficult so these are a piece of a bowling alley that went out of business a few years ago that i bowled at as a kid so through a good friend of mine i was able to source a piece of the bowling alley cut it down edge it out clean it up seal it and then i have a countertop with some really good history next question can you fit two vehicles in here [Music] [Applause] is this a smart garage well alexa show me the garage [Music] and the number one question i get from the original video is how did i mount the bikes on the wall well the answer was found on amazon and it's a very simple bracket made by a company called venzo it's a super inexpensive easy way to get the bikes on the wall [Music] [Music] so so once again thanks for checking out the dutchman's den uh i hope i answered some of your questions and i hope you like what we've been working on around here i'm gonna put links in the description for a lot of the products that you saw on this video and drop a comment down below and let me know what you want to see next time you stop by so we've got a busy summer ahead of us with all kinds of bike trips planned and bad ideas one of which includes bike packing why so if you're interested in learning from our mistakes and laughing at our pain subscribe to follow along for the ride and finally don't forget to get out of your bike then every now and again because when you get outside get on your bike good things will happen see ya [Music] something's like on it [Music]
