I got my sketchbook, pencils, markers [Art supplies clattering] and I even cut out tiny little cute little squares because I was all ready to do like a little one marker challenge sort of situation, but I changed my mind we're going to something else You know those days where like you have no idea what to draw and nothing feels right? Today's like the exact opposite of that. I have like all these ideas in my head and all these things I want to draw and Uh one marker challenge just really ain't going to fit it. Oh, yeah. This is a new sketchbook I don't know if I mentioned that. I still want to draw on these little guys, but I just don't think I'll do the one marker challenge. Among of the things I'd like to draw, I'd like to draw Weelz and Scoot and Dex and uh, there's an extra piece of paper so someone else, those aren't characters that I really want to do with just one color. I want to draw them. I want to use all the colors. So this is an A5 piece of paper that I cut in half. Let's start with this guy. I do have the sketchbook out for the background so that I can draw off of the page and I really like the way that looks in my sketchbook because it just adds to the messiness. We do have the paper if I need it for thumbnailing, but mostly I think it'll just be for the run-off. Let's start with a little col-erase pencil. I've gotten back into using these and I think it's made a big impact on my art. 'Cause I was kinda skipping that step. I think it was just a little lazy tendency. I think I learned stuff doing that but going back to this, has made me very very happy. What is that?! Anyway! I want to start with Weelz, the main attraction, my favorite of the three. And her colors, I feel like are the perkiest, so I wanted to fit into this format of this page I think I want them all to be like similar size so you can like lay them next to each other and have the three girls there and then it'll be all cutesy! I'm going to start sketching with the col-erase pencil. Body. Torso, hips. Weelz was supposed to be a little on the younger side so I don't want it to be this curvy, Straighten out the body a little bit. I'm gonna twist the torso, give it a little something extra. Like this parts facing that way and this part is facing a little bit more that way. Weelz always has a smile on her face. And she has a very rounded face, her whole character design is kind of based off of circles So we want to keep all the shapes very rounded and plump separates her from the other girls that we're gonna draw How about a hand up here? Something I'm noticing, I drew a long torso and long limbs and that kind of makes her look older as well. Not only is Wheelz younger but she's also kind of supposed to be short, so we're gonna try and just widen out the limb and hopefully that'll make everything look a little smaller. Take all these shapes and move them up. So the legs kind of start more here. I'm going to straighten out the legs a little make them less curvy. I'm using a rubber eraser instead of my kneaded eraser right now because we don't have any other art supplies involved So the eraser shavings aren't quite as frustrating. Pull one leg farther forward. Like, this one would be more going backwards. She also has a bit thicker eyebrows. Almost always shows a little teeth when she smiles. That's probably one of the reasons why I kind of stopped using the cold erase pencil as the first step because it is hard to see on camera. I think the art just turns out better overall when I use it. So you could be the judge once we're done [Giggles] Okay, I still think the arms are too long...? Shorten it and like move this elbow in a little Yeah! She's also supposed to have a big chin, which I seem to have missed. Something I always forget to do is to make sure that the arms look like they're the same size. She's pretty close. To make her head look less too big, I'm gonna shrink down the torso a little. All the shapes here. Just shrink them. I'm not sure this pose suits Weelz's personality as much but we're gonna go with it. Her skirt's high-waisted. It's gonna take up a lot of those legs. Pleats and this would be in shadow. This will be more out there. Now what gives her the dimensions of looking like she has more of a waist is the oversized shirt being tucked in, so it kind of gives the illusion of curves even though she's a younger character so we're going to draw in the crew neck. To make the shirt look bigger , something I learned that works really really well, is to pull the seam, so like normally a shirt would have seams right at the shoulder like that, but instead, since the shirt's bigger, we're going to pull it down past the shoulders and then draw the sleeve up from there. It just makes everything look so much bigger and then we'll pull this out. Actually, I want to raise the waist on this and then tuck the shirt in but have it stick out. It's all scrunched big and [noise] Yeah, that's my favorite thing about drawing Weelz. It's just all the like big shapes tucked into the tighter shapes and then they flare out, too and I like drawing her. Okay? Something to keep in mind is that if the seam is longer, that's the section of the body so it should all be kind of one big shape, but you can add a little bit of wrinkles in the armpit. Lightly erase some of the lines we don't need as much. Make sure that there's a gap here. Then we need her graphic There we go. Oh hair! We totally forgot hair. Well, I did, I don't know if you did. You're probably like hey, she's bald! So thanks. She definitely looks older than maybe I usually draw her. Just imagine how much older she'd look if I didn't do those changes. I like this drawing. It's turning out good. Well, let me just go over it. Give it a little pass. Make sure I like everything. This is hair. This is hair. Hair. Hair. I think I'll do line-art next. I've been trying out this thing where I do color then line-art, which I like but this is a nice coloring page kind of sketch. I'd like to upload it and let you guys color it in, too because I have gotten some requests for coloring pages of the girl gang, let's do it in that order. Some uh, pens, 0.5 and 0.3, sounds good to me. I will lightly erase with my kneaded eraser. Col-erase pencils already don't erase quite as much which is why they're really nice to layer with alcohol-based markers. They complement the marker. So they don't need to be fully erased. I'm going to start with the 0.3. Why did the eyes turn out so bad? Maybe it'll look fine with the rest. Eh, heh, heh It looks fine once it's all together, I think it was just all alone the eyes were like, RAWR! I like to draw the graphic later in color, so I'm not going to add that in now. But I might add it for the coloring page. If it's not there feel free to draw it in yourself. This hand is just scribbles! We have to re-sketch that one. Little spheres some ovals and some fingies. I don't know if I've ever said this but Weelz is actually heavily inspired and reminds me a lot of my cousin, Ella. Ella's like "Eh! It looks nothing like me!" Yeah, I know but it reminds me of you.[Laughs] Oops, I added an extra line in there. That almost looks like it's supposed to be a thumb. It's not, it's a gap. It's a gap! We need these buttons. She was designed to be used with my Ohuhu brush markers. There are some colors that are kind of yelling at me that I think we used. I'm okay with mixing in some Copic markers just add more contrast because I've been trying to play around a little bit more when it comes to coloring. The pastel pink was definitely her pink color. Potato brown was her hair. Oh, yeah, look at this. Just looks like her when I see this. [Laughs] I'm gonna swatch them on this paper. I'm not as big a fan of that yellow as I remember being Maybe if I just find a lighter yellow, the rest of the colors should stay the same. Let me try a different yellow though, maybe something lighter and her skirt's white. Maybe that's why I wanted that saturated darker value. I think I'll also start a little lighter just for like Effectiveness sake. Start with a lighter skin tone, use this to build on that. They're almost the same tone. That's really cool. I might actually have a more orangey yellow. Let me see. That might be a winner. I'm gonna try to avoid the edges. That doesn't even look as light as it did on here. Probably because it's picking up the pencil which is why I like to use that pencil. It just gives texture to the skin. Oh, if you want to color along you can grab that line-art. I'll definitely have it uploaded for you and we can color in Weelz together! Oh people ask how it's spelled A W, an E, an E, an L, and a Z! It's not a real word, it's her nickname. I was mulling it over whether I wanted the H or not. I figured let's just go full out there. No, H! I got an email, I feel like it's a couple months ago now. Someone wrote like a little story about the girls meeting, it was so cute. I love that I'm able to share these characters with you and we all kind of be creative together and build a little world around them. It's just awesome. I know potato brown was the hair. Look at the contrast there! Let's try light sun tan. Maybe too light. Building it up. I want to start lighter. I'll let that dry and then I'll add another layer on top. This is yellow. I'm going to start with - I think Y15's is more true to her original color. That's a Copic marker. It's this guy. If I use a lighter color or more pastel, it's probably a Copic. My original Ohuhu set had a lot of pastels and I was really happy with that but like the first set of brush markers didn't quite have that. They're bringing them back a little bit more They're just like darker tones. So here we have the yellow shirt. I'm glad I went with the lighter yellow Do I want this pink on top of the brown or should I start with the lighter one again? That's not lighter. Oh, that would be so good for blush! Hmm this is our last hope and this is going to be too light. Yeah, you can't even see that Guess we'll just go with the original pastel pink. Let me just keep little dots like it's shiny. Aw, I don't get to draw her roller skates. What was I thinking? Now I wanted to try using YR4. This guy, salmon pink for blush. We'll blend it out with the R00. Oh, that's the light pink that I have. Well, I can't use that. It's the skin tone, but I could use it to like blend out. Now that I've drawn it, this leg was supposed to be further back but this one looks like it is. I'm gonna shade this one in, blend that out as well. A little eyeshadow Natural looking one. Don't want to over blend because the line-art is there. I think I would have liked the blush to be a little bit more pink. Probably could layer on top actually. Warm up that tone. Ta-dah! Need to draw in the graphic. Lightly pressing. I would use this to shade the hair. I also need shade this. We could use that light pink that was invisible. I think it needs some shading there. I'm gonna find like a light purple, should be neutral enough. It's almost too light for the hair. I should just use a gray. I forgot how much I missed bullet nibs. I mean, I don't want to use them as much as I use chisels and brushes they're handy sometimes if you're heavy-handed like me. I would shade this would that be good? - the ohuhu purple maybe? oooOooo! Let me just go over that again. Now, I think I can just go over the eyebrows with the potato brown. Maybe a little white gel pen action on the face. Oh, and I also want to shade this one. Sunflower! Just use this for shading. That way everything is much more saturated. See if I can use a little pencil, clean anything up. I do think we need like a background color. I don't know what this one's doing out. What does this look like? That's too dark. Oh pink There's not very much pink going on, you know, because it's most of her like skates and socks and everything So I think i'll use that. I feel like we need a circle, try to stay inside that Voila! Weelz definitely looks older than normal. Let's give her some friends! I want to try to keep them similarly sized. so that they look like they're part of a set. What if it's something like - Maybe that's a little too shmexy. Scoot's shape is um a heart. So her face is kind of heart shaped and then she has like the heart on her scrunchie, I think I like rearranged her color scheme, but now I don't remember. [Snorts] Well, that's cute why didn't I just draw it on this? Meep, meep. This is kind of what her design used to look like. This is what it looks like now, I'm glad I looked that up. The last few times I've drawn her, I didn't use colors So I do think this pose is maybe a little too mature for these girls so try something else. Sharpennie, sharpenny sharpen. Let's just go with something kind of simple. Do maybe a straight on view. Ears, forehead. I used to forget foreheads all the time. [Giggles] They make a difference. Make sure the face is a bit more heart- shaped. Pull this hand up here. I feel like this is a bit of a shy pose. Scoot's not supposed to be shy. She's supposed to be the leader of the group. I feel like she should have had the hands on hips. She's the goofball. I feel like the pose fits fine. Let me just try something maybe more powerful and maybe we can use that for Dex. Make sure the head's the right size. Hands on the hippers. The higher we raise the hands, the more strong and independent they're gonna look. See how that hand's like really up and she looks confident. Pull the hands up even higher then. See how that changes? Heart shaped face, heart shaped face. That's a little wide on the shoulders. Probably need some under torso. I'm gonna bring the hands down a little lower. I like them both. This one looks taller, too. This one's more like done in the face. I'm trying to focus on the pose. Just work on the face a little and see if that makes a difference. I don't think I'll be able to use that for Dex because Dex has a helme t and there's just not enough space. So I guess that makes the decision. It's this one! Let's just add in some of the details. I'm gonna make her look a little skinnier. So hopefully that'll make her look taller and I'm gonna thin out the limbs. Basically did the opposite thing that I did with her. A more lanky, taller appearance. A little romper and this is all stripes. And then we'll add a heart in the background to color in. She did have elbow pads [Hums] I think I can go and add some line-art. I think I use point three for everything. No! Start with the eyes, there's a lot that can go wrong there Just move over here. That ears way bigger than Weelz's ear, isn't it? I could tell as soon as I drew it. I was like shoot! Maybe give her some kind of earring I really wanted these guys to be kind of cohesive! These guys. Add a little texture in there. Her shirt is more fitted to her. So the shoulder seams line up with the shoulders. His hand needs to be bigger because the head's kind of large. I'll leave that for a second and just work on everything else. Shoulder pads. No! Elbow pads. That's what these are called . Let me try drawing the hand a little bit bigger. I think by pulling just the thumb behind her it makes a big difference. A little bigger. Bigger than it was, still small maybe. I could draw the same hand from a different angle. You know what I forgot about Weelz!? She wears gloves! Add that to the line-art. Pretty sure I used these guys for this. I feel like I used potato brown for her skin, then just used a darker color for like the blush so it looked different from the hair. Then her main color, pink and her secondary color is turquoise. Try to mostly use Ohuhu markers again because I know that's what a lot of you have, too. She has a pink and it's the same pink as Weelz. Then I need a darker brown for her blush. Something specifically more red. I don't think that'll work. This has a rubber band on it. But I don't think that's going to be it either. Unless I start with this and then use this for the blush which would end up being in most places anyway. It might be a safer bet especially since colors seem to be appearing darker on this paper Try this for skin. Yeah, this is kind of too light. That's the first layer. This is a nice skin tone though, I really like it. It's very saturated. Wonder if I can make the ears look a little smaller here. By coloring them in different. Okay, missed a spot, classic . I'm going to start by just using the potato brown as blush, see how far that gets me. Something like a dark santan color. How does that look? Oh, why does this dry out so much? Let's just stick with my original plan and we'll just blend it out with potato brown and we'll keep these both handy. la-la-loo-loo-loo! for hopefully the best blending. Potato brown, rose beige, potato brown and rose-ah beige. Blend-a-rooney. Definitely used something darker last time. Y12! It's called Mahogany. Oh, yeah, that's nice. I must have colored the whole face in with potato brown and then use this for blush and for the rest of the body, see how it looks. Oh, yeah! Now it's looking like her. Blend that out into potato brown here. Let's give a little variety. The colors do streak a little bit more so it might require a few more layers. Crazy how different that looks. So we'll color the whole thing in potato brown. Do the same thing we did but now with these darker colors Do it all over again. Glad I started lighter though because you can always make it darker. You can't get lighter. I might use that color we had, rose beige, for the lips. Back to mahogany and we'll do the nose over again. Blend it out with the potato brown Color is still kind of like on the marker because when you're blending them they kinda blend into the nib too. Blend it out with the rose beige again just to smooth out those transitions. For the hair I think I used Y13. Use the brush tip so I can get into these small spaces. I think I'll color in her eyes with this, too because I seem to have forgotten with the line-art. I'll try to go into a lighter color on the end of these just to give that some texture, too and so you can see some of the line-art because it's very similar color. Now you can see a little something extra in there. A little gel pen. I love the way that's blending. We need R10, this basically just goes everywhere. This one is just like an outline of the face whereas hers the heart's actually a different color. I might change that. Let's do the stripes first. I really like that, it's so cute. It doesn't seem like the right turquoise down here. Why does it look so dark. I'm going to try this. Change it up. I'm gonna make it more similar to the way that is. I feel like it does need some pink there. Oh, we could do this, little contrasting, uh, hem. Is that what it's called? Binding. Meh. Use that same light pink, blend out that. Maybe add a little shading. This is gray. Little shading in the skin with the pink, make it look a little less flat. I feel like the lips are too light. What about this guy? [Marker rubbing on paper] Do I have anything a little darker than that? Oh that's good, I like that better than the one I used. Could use this for the heart. Looks like it's about time for a refill on this guy, too. Try going around with the gel pen. I think wherever I went a little too close. This piece of gel pen got mushed. I don't know when that happened, but we're gonna have to fix it. Here's how they look together. They look cute together! All right, let's do the third one. Don't think I want to use this. I want to make a whole new one. Do Weelz (Dex) and her pug. Oops, that's not her name. Dex. Not this. We use the same kind of color scheme. So we're gonna need those Y15 and Y11. I designed them all so they use like the same three main markers turquoise, pink and yellow. Yellow, pink turquoise and pink, yellow turquoise. I can go ahead and start sketching. Now she is the shy character. So we can do a more shy pose. I redesigned her recently in a whole video. I do have a nice idea of what that looks like. She's supposed to be like middle height between these two. Let's try like maybe tilting the head. Her main shape is rectangles. They can be tall rectangles, flat rectangles. Anything with like four corners, basically. There's a word for that. Maybe scrunch up her shoulders a little. Do that same kind of thing I did with that last pose that I didn't end up keeping. Make her hold her hands. Give her a bit more like uncomfortable eyebrows here. What if I just stick a pug in her arms, I don't know how long their arms are. Is that a pug? Got a little pug. A little tail. Should look up a reference before I line-art that. She's another one with the oversized shirt. So we're gonna pull the seams down. Round it over the shoulders. Helmets are so awkward to draw. They sit on the head so weird. Well, it kind of works. It came easier than I thought it would. She's not skating so we don't have to like tighten it on or anything. Let's find the body in here. Here we go. Dex is always the one that I never put the right amount of effort in. I'd like to try a little harder this time. Probably because I do her last then I'm just like by then I'm a little done. I've reached the end of my drawing limit for the day. I always thought it was because her design wasn't that great, but I redesigned it and now it looks like it's happening again and I like her design now, so that's not the problem. That was the doggy's leg. Okay. I need a pug reference. Huh, aw, look at him. I think I need to just redraw this whole area though. Just draw it as if she was wearing smaller clothes. That way we find all the body parts in here. It's hard for me to keep her face rectangular because I just want to round it off! There we go. I think this works. Keep a rectangular boxy shape and I want to see that pocket with the face. Make them kind of small. Why not? Their eyes are a little lower than I originally drew them. I'm finding him in here. It's so cute! If you have a pug give him an extra hug from me. I've never hugged a pug. [Sad ♪] Oh, I didn't leave room for his arm to be over it. She's kind of strangling him. Oh, no! He'll put one paw up in here and one paw up here. This looks like when he's a puppy! oOoo! I guess this arm, guess I need to pull this arm down, too Where's their tails? Aw! It curls. Yeah, I knew it curled a little but I didn't know it curled that much and oh man! This is the favorite pug I've ever drawn. Redraw this area. I need to pull down this a little. it should be a little bit longer, probably go down to like, here. Since I redesigned her and gave her this oversized sweatshirt, it's only gotten more trendy. So it hasn't started looking outdated yet. Still a little sloppier but I don't think there's anything else I can do just because col-erase doesn't quite erase as much as their name suggests. And we'll add in a little line-art. Let's just do the pug That's what we all came here for, right? They always looks so sad! That's why you should always hug a pug. Let me work a little bit more on that helmet. I think I used this really light turquoise layered with darker turquoise. So we can start there. This layered with the pink might not have been the best idea, but we'll try it. The pug's my favorite part. [Bark] Hey, you don't like the pug, is that the problem? You think I should only draw poodles. kind of rude don't you think? Not inclusive. I think the sweatshirt's white. Her pants are like that gray color, probably this. Cool gray number four! And also getting requests to add a biker to their gang like someone who rides bikes, not specifically a biker. I think it would be a good inclusion, but I'm not sure where to go with like the character. I'm keeping it in mind! We'll use this for Mr. Puggy Ahh! I can't handle it! I think we used a lighter yellow like Y11 for the old helmet. I think we used the darker turquoise for like a little design on here. Probably a square. Trying not to make them look like circles. I'm gonna use this to shade that one in the distance. I think I used her skin tone for the pug. I'm gonna layer it with the yellow first and see if that pulls it a little further away from the skin when we get around to that. Did I give her the same skin as Weelz. Did I mess up? I think this is actually Dex's skin tone and I should have used straight YR4 for Weelz. Oops. So I think I'll just do the same thing and I'll have to hopefully remember that I did that wrong. Puggy bug. I can use that IR4 shading Mr. Puggy all the way around. Aw yeah! Go over with a neutral gray, so it doesn't look so green. Look how cute he looks. Now I just had to color in her hair. Oh, that's bright! Still haven't decided if I wanted her to have a more neutral hair color. I figure she's like a natural blonde and then she just uses like a little dye that she puts in once a week. Layer it with a little more turquoise like she put some kind of makeup on. I don't know. I want them to be young and believable, but I don't know. I gave her like diagonal stripes. A little tricky to do when they're bending blend these out. Blend that one out, too. I like it better a little softer. Skin. This guy. Maybe a little blush. Probably use that rose beige. Let's do it. Let's do it. I think that suits her cool tones. Knuckle blush. Do I want a little shading to the hair? I feel like it all looks like one chunk. I'm gonna use the light neutral gray. Deepen it in back here and here. Underneath this because it would be casting a shadow. Just gonna make her eyebrows turquoise. The gray's throwing it off. Turquoise lip. All right, then we need our yellow square in the background. Y15 for that. Draw on a square. Let's do straight up yellow. I need a little bit of shading here. There we go. I don't like the way the sweatshirt squashes out. It kind of looks like squash. I wanted to be more rectangle. I think that has something to do with it like being blocked out. For now, it's fine. Dex still got like the worst end of the stick. Not as bad as I've done before. I like that I wrote down all the colors this time. I didn't write that one. I think it turned out cute. It's one of the best I've done with her rectangle shaped face because I don't usually draw them that way. I don't know how to arrange these. Anyway, here's what I created today. Weelz, Scoot and Dex. You can't see their legs. What if I just got a new piece of paper and I drew the bottom half. It's funny though because their shoes and her skateboard are like important I feel like to their overall design and I totally skipped it. Clean up the edge here. Here we go. Anyway I want to thank you guys for watching. If you're interested in coloring any of these three line-arts, I will have them available for you. If you made it to the end this video, I feel like it was a long one. I don't know. Thank you guys for watching. I'll see you guys all next week thank you for all the support and I hope you have a delicious evening full of waffles. Bye!
