This is a long video, but a very good presentation regarding the scientific and political history of dietary guidelines in the United States. For younger viewers it may seem like ancient history, but for those living through the 1960s-1990s, stories of scientific and political malpractice are more personal.
My father was a 6'2" 195 pound paratrooper who had his first heart attack at age 46 and died at age 55 in 1986 while being treated by supposedly some of the best Medical Doctors in the country.
Fantastic video. There's another really good one from the same event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtmMjRfGMu8&spfreload=10
Peter Attia, who also occasionally uses the stage name Vin Diesel.
Damn he's fine. I think I have a science crush. Some of these super smart nutrition/exercise Ph.D. types are just the whole package. That may be my inner nerd speaking, though...
I've been following Dr. Attia on twitter for a while now. He's a firm believer that low carb diets are just as good, if not better, for high endurance sports like bike riding and tennis.
