john's gospel chapter 19 verses 17 to 20 and we read these words and he that is jesus bearing his cross went out to a place called the place of a skull which is called in hebrew golgotha where they crucified him and two others with him one on either side and jesus in the center now pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross and the writing was jesus of nazareth the king of the jews and many of the jews read the title this title for the place where jesus was crucified was near the city and it was written in hebrew in greek and in latin jesus carried his cross to golgotha or calvary to be crucified and the crucifixion as i said was the ultimate way for execution by the romans it was originally invented or started used created by the phoenicians the phoenicians developed the execution of people on the cross the romans took it over and developed it into an art form and used it to perfection to intimidate and to destroy every opposition against their kingdom the cross represents several things it represents sacrifice because jesus gave up his glory for the cross the cross also represents shame because jesus was publicly humiliated on it the cross represents suffering because jesus experienced pain and death on it and the cross represents salvation because jesus purchased our redemption on it crucifixion was a very painful way of killing anybody normally when uh there is capital punishment in any jurisdiction and and there are parts in the united states where capital punishment still exists people are executed when they have committed a crime either murder or done something extremely extremely evil but in every society where capital punishment is used the process of death is very swift whether the person is hung by the neck in a couple of seconds they are dead if the people are beheaded they die instantly in some places is by firing squad and you die instantly uh if you went to the electric chair uh we suppose people die quickly or if they went to the gas chamber they die quickly in other words capital punishment is designed to end a person's life quickly the difference with crucifixion was that it doesn't end your life quickly because part of the purpose of crucifixion is not just to kill you but to make you suffer and not only to make you suffer but make you suffer for a very long time and not only make you suffer for a very long time but to humiliate you for a very long time so normally in the process of crucifixion it took a long time for a person to die and this is an account of crucifixion in that time it says that a victim was often flocked he was paraded to the side of execution wearing around the neck a wooden placard proclaiming the crime and for jesus his crime was king of the jews that was what he carried around however that could become a crime is something else to explore another time but his crime was that he was a king of the jews and normally they carried part of the cross the crossbar with them the standing part of it is already erected at the place of crucifixion and when they went in there their hands were tied stretched out and tied they were nailed to the cross and then the standing part or the the crossbar was lifted up to a fixed to the standing part the prisoner was normally stripped naked and uh and uh publicly displayed for everybody to see them the weight of the hanging body made breathing very difficult and usually death came gradually through suffocation after a few hours but the romans didn't want people to die quickly so they would support both the feet and the buttocks of the person who was crucified so that they wouldn't sink to die instantly and normally when they did that you would die after about a week and so the person will be there bleeding crying screaming and humiliating himself and people would be there insulting him throwing things at him and and and just publicly making him feel very sorry for his life and he will go through that for days and normally they'll be crying out crying out for mercy crying out for help and help will not come until finally either some birds will come and plug their eyes out or something would eat part of their bodies while they were on the cross and then they die off quickly that was the death that jesus chose that was the death that jesus chose crucifixion was always a public statement and i'm saying this because all of this has a bearing on the power of the cross jesus knew about the cross he knew about it because he lived under the roman empire and he saw many people crucified growing up he had seen rebels most of them jews crucified he has seen other people crucified normally along the road in matthew chapter 20 from verse 17 the bible says now jesus going up to jerusalem took the 12 disciples aside on the road and said to them behold we're going to jerusalem and the son of man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes and they will condemn him to death and deliver him to the gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify and the third day you rise again roman matthew chapter 26 verse one and two now he came to pass when jesus had finished all these sayings that he said to his disciples you know that after two days is the passover and the son of man will be delivered to be in john chapter 3 from verse 14 15 as moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness even so much the son of man be lifted up and whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life jesus knew how he was going to die and he knew that he was going to die by crucifixion can you imagine how jesus felt any time he saw a person hanging on a cross along the road the romans had crucified a thief or somebody who was a rebel or some other person and he was here they are groans and their cries and as he walked past he would know that's how i'm going to die the cross was not a surprise for him it was a choice he knew he was going to die by crucifixion he knew he was going to die on a tree he knew he was going to die publicly he knew his death would draw people to him and jesus knew that as a matter of fact he chose to die that way there was no other way for him to die but to die this disgraceful death it was necessary for him to die this way without dying this way his life will be meaningless jesus could have chosen to die any other way he could have died of malaria he could have died of some other disease somebody could have stabbed him there would be blood he would shed blood and he will die but that would not qualify for the death he had to die and the purpose of his death and the more you understand the cross then the more you appreciate the death of jesus christ but the whole concept of the cross even now many of us as believers can't come to terms with it in first corinthians chapter 1 verse 18 it says for the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to those who are being saved it is the power of god verse 22 for jews request a sign and greeks seek after wisdom but we preach christ crucified to the jews a stumbling block and to the greeks foolishness but to those who are called both jews and greece christ the power of god and the wisdom of god christ crucified that's what paul says that's what we preach not christ healing you not christ the deliverer but christ crucified because everything he provides he provides before because he was crucified if he was not crucified he couldn't be a savior if he wasn't crucified he couldn't be a healer if he wasn't crucified you couldn't be blessed and paul says that is our message and then he says to the jews it is a stumbling block to the greeks it is foolishness now why did he say that one of the reasons why i know christianity is not man-made is the crucifixion of jesus the disciples could not have chosen the crucifixion if they wanted to promote jesus why so because the writer paul says that for the greeks crucifixion is foolishness because in the greek culture they had heroes now most of you who have studied greek civilization you know they are heroes they they had hercules and they have achilles and they have all these heroes the greek heroes don't die excuse me to say foolish debts so if you go and tell a greek person whom you want to believe that that carpenter was the child son of god and is the savior of the world you don't go and sell crucifixion to him because the the greeks will say if he's a real hero why should he die that kind of death it's foolishness to the greeks it's almost like saying my savior jesus oh oh i know a savior i and he was stoned to death in the streets of lagos as an armed robber how do you convert a nigerian to believe that the guy who died is the savior and your logic is that he was stoned as an armed robber in the streets of lagos it doesn't make sense it's better to say he got sick went to a hospital in london and died that will get the nigerians to believe this guy was somebody so in the same way that paul is saying to the greeks if you tell them the savior died it's foolishness now why would the disciples who know the greek culture go and tell the greeks listen our savior died by crucifixion knowing that these people will not respect that story because that was the truth and they couldn't tell any other story except that story they were not making it up and then he says to the jews it's a stumbling block now you can't get the greeks okay now try and get the jews and you go and tell the jews that the son of god died on a tree when their own law says curse is a man that hangs on a tree how can you convince a jew that the son of god the savior died on a tree to the greeks his foolishness to the jews it's a stumbling block but that is the absolute truth we preach christ crucified so something happened to the cross something happened somebody died on that tree that is supposed to be foolishness if you were greek watching the crucifixion of jesus you would say what a waste what a waste of life a young man 33 years old people like him popular guy what a waste of talent if you were a jew you would say if you truly are the son of god you wouldn't die this way so what happened on the cross well the cross didn't just happen to jesus it had been prophesied in the old testament in psalm 22 psalm 22 is what you call a messianic psalm when you say it's a messianic psalm it means it's a psalm that is not just a song but a prophecy about the messiah there is a trilogy of psalms some 22 some 23 psalm 24 psalm 22 is a suffering savior psalm 23 the shepherd psalm 24 the suffering the king of glory now let's read some 22. the opening words of psalm 22 says my god my god why have you forsaken me why are you so far from helping me and from the words of my groomings how many of you remember this statement that jesus said exactly the same words so when jesus hung on the cross everything he was doing was fulfilling what has been said will happen so the psalmist in psalm 21 22 says my god my god why hast thou forsaken me jesus used the same words how do we know that psalm 22 is about jesus because in verse 14 onwards we read these words i am poured out like water the same person who is saying my god my god why is that forsaking me says i am poured out like water in other words i'm i'm just being thrown away i'm poured out like water and all my bones are out of joint my heart is like wax it has melted within me my strength is dried up like a pot shed my tongue clings to my jaws you have brought me into the dust of death for dogs have surrounded me the congregation of the wicked has enclosed me they pierce my hands and my feet i can count all my bones they look and stare at me they divide my garments among them and for my clothing they cast lost everything that sami said happened to the guy who said my god my god why has that forsaken me so what was happening on the cross was the fulfillment of what had been prophesied what happened the same psalm in verse 26 tells us the consequence of what is going to happen it says the poor shall eat and be satisfied because of what is going to happen to the person who hung on that cross the poor shall eat and be satisfied and those who seek him shall praise the lord and their heart will live forever in other words this guy is going to do something on the cross and when he finishes doing it the poor shall be satisfied and our hearts our lives will live forever in other words eternal life will become our portion and that is because of what happened on the cross so if the cross is so much powerful how do we respond to the cross jesus hung on it he died on it romans chapter 6 from verse 5 to 7 says for we have been united together for if we have been united together in the likeness of the dead certainly we shall also be in the likeness of his resurrection knowing this that our old man was crucified with him that the body of sin might be done away with that we should no longer be slaves of sin for he who has died has been freed from sin galatians 2 20 for i have been crucified with christ it is no longer i who live but christ lies in me the lives which i now live in the flesh i live by the faith of the son of god who loved me and gave himself for me when jesus died on the cross according to the scripture he didn't die alone yes we know that there were some two thieves beside him but that's not what the bible is saying the bible says he didn't die alone he died with some people who had not been born yet the bible says we were united with him in his death on the cross so when he died on the cross he wasn't the only one on the cross you were with him on the cross you were being punished with him on the cross you were being disgraced with him on the cross and in the same way as we share in his death on the cross we also share in his resurrection on the cross our old nature died with christ and the body of sin was removed the cross is a powerful force for our faith now i get to something that is very important regarding the cross galatians chapter 2 chapter 3 sorry from verse 10. for as many as of the works of the law are under the curse for it is written cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them but that no one is justified by the law in the sight of god is evident for the just shall lay by faith yet the law is not of faith but the man that does them shall live by them verse 13 christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law having become a curse for us for it is written cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree that the blessing of abraham might come upon the gentiles in christ jesus that we might receive the promise of the spirit through faith there is a word there that i want to dwell on a little and that word is the word curse the word curse is a very loaded word it means to be diminished to be brought low in a hebrew language a curse means something that has been lowered secondly a curse means to be punished it means to suffer for something wrong and third means a curse means to be made miserable christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law now if you read the passage it didn't say christ has redeemed us from the curse that's not what he said he said christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law a particular curse that he has redeemed us from how did he redeem us because he became the curse why so that the blessing might come how do we know he became the curse because the scripture says cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree when jesus hung on the tree he became an accursed thing unto god for a purpose he died a death that is for a purpose christ became the curse so he redeemed us from the curse of the law everybody say curse of the law oh say it like you are excited say curse of the law say one more time say curse of the law all right now we're going to find out what the curse of the law is very very soon so that you can know what you've been redeemed from the curse of the law is the punishment the misery the suffering that comes upon us for disobeying the law of god the punishment the mystery the suffering that comes upon us when we disobey the law of god so when a person disobeys the law of god they come under the punishment and that punishment is called the curse of the law everybody say the curse of the law please follow me closely because you have to know why jesus had to die on the cross and what he redeemed us from everybody say curse of the law all right now for us to understand the curse of the law we have to go back to the law understand the curse of the law that christ redeemed us from why it was necessary for him to die that shameful death why jesus didn't die of malaria or didn't wasn't beheaded to die very quickly why he had to go through this particular death is what you're going to read about deuteronomy chapter 11 from verse 26 this is god speaking through moses behold i set before you today a blessing and a curse the blessing if you obey the commandments of the lord your god which i command you today and the curse if you do not obey the commandments of the lord your god but turn aside from the way which i command you today to go after other girls which you have not known and it shall be when the lord your god has brought you into the land which you go to possess that you shall put a blessing on mount gerizim and the curse on mount ebal you know many christians read the bible we read nice things that say simple things to us you are blessed you are highly favored you know so so we the heavy stuff we don't like it we don't like heavy lifting we like reading that our enemy's jaw will be broken you know amen so when you read things like this what is the bible saying it's it's too much work that's why i'm here to help you go through the work to understand why these words are in the bible says now you shall come to pause verse 29 hebrews chapter 11. deuteronomy chapter 11 sorry that when the lord your god has brought you into the land which you go to possess that you shall put the blessing on mongerism and the curse on mount ebal all right so what is that now if you know your bible a little bit just just a little bit you know that israel used to be in egypt and god sent moses go tell pharaoh let my people go and he took them out they went through the red sea they came out from egypt when they came out from egypt they went to a certain mountain called mount sinai how many of you have heard of mount sinai okay they went to mount sinai and god says i'm going to make a covenant with you and on mount sinai he made a covenant with them and that is where their commandments started the first ten came and the children of israel said to moses uh this thing is too scary uh you go and listen to god and leave us here alone because this god you've brought us to come and worship is a scary one and please moses just talk to him and and moses you have to understand these people they've been in egypt for so long they know that their their fathers used to worship a god called yahweh but they haven't met him before and so this is the first time they are meeting yahweh and he's on mount sinai there's fire there's thunder there's wind and everything's scary and they said and please moses that's not what we bargained for so you you go and talk to yahweh wherever he is and whatever he tells you to do tells us to do we will do it we don't even know what he would say but he's so scary whatever he says we will do it so moses went out to the mountain to go and talk to yahweh and he was there for 40 days now remember no sometimes we judge the israelites very easily but they have seen all this fire and thunder and all this thing happening moses goes into the cloud doesn't come so they said iran your brother is dead that yahweh has killed him so let's go back to where we came from make us a new god make us golden calf we are going back that one we are familiar with so basically that's what happened so on mount sinai god gave them a new commandment well eventually moses came back and so and so forth now god is now telling moses to tell the people i made a covenant with you on mount sinai when you are just come from slavery now you are going to the promised land and when you go to the promised land i'm going to make another compact another agreement with you so whereas the first one was on mount sinai the second one i'm going to do with you will be in the promised land in a place called shechem and you are going to have this covenant not on one mountain but on two mountains mount ibel and mount gerizim i hope you're understanding the story now okay so now when i read verse 29 it will make sense now it shall be when the lord of god has brought you into the land which you're going to possess that you shall put the blessing on mongerism and the curse on mount ebal all right so what does it mean the blessing on mount erism and the curse on mount ebal now what god said to moses is when you go to the promised land you're going to i'm going to speak both blessing and cares before you remember he said i put blessing and cares before you the first time on mount sinai is all blessing now you guys are so stubborn i need to put two stuff before you blessing and curse one on terrorism the other on ebal so how is it gonna happen the children of israel were going to six tribes are going to be on one mountain terrorism six tribes on mount ebal in between mount ebal and mount gerizim the levites will stand in the valley when they speak blessing those on mount eb garrison will say amen and when he speaks curse those on mount ebal will say amen are you following me all right we're going to we're trying to discover what the curse of the law is all right so verse 27 chapter 27 determined me from verse 11 and moses commanded the people on the same day saying these shall stand on mount geraism to bless the people when they have crossed over the jordan simeon levi judah issachar joseph benjamin he shall stand on mount gerizim to curse rubin god asha zebulon dan naphtali and the levi shall speak with a loud voice and say to all the children of israel now this is what the levites are going to say to those on mount ebal that represents those who have disobeyed god curse is the one who makes a carved or molded image an abomination to the lord the works of the hands of the craftsman and sets it up in secret and other people shall say amen so the moment he says curse is the one who makes a calf image modern image then mount iba will say amen curse is the one who treats his father or his mother with contempt and other people shall say amen these are the case of the law now we are reading them curse is the one who moves his neighbor's landmark that means you steal people's plot of land and all the people shall say amen now you have to understand that the curse of the israelites is not just to you it's to your children's children it is transgenerational so these curses if your grandfather went to steal somebody's plot he's covered here and it's coming to you are you following me your great grandfather was disrespectful to his parents your family is coming under this curse so curse is the one who treats his father or his mother with contempt and the people shall say amen amen means it is so blessed curse is the one who removes his neighbor's landman and all the people shall say amen caz is the one who makes the blind to wander off the road and other people shall say amen that you give people wrong direction curse is the one who perverts the justice due to the stranger the fatherless and the widow and all the people shall say amen curse is the one who lies with his father's wife for whatever purpose because he has uncovered his father's bed and all the people shall say amen care is the one who lies with any kind of animal for whatever purpose and all the people shall say amen curse is the one who lies with his sister the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother and all the people shall say amen charis is the one who lies with his mother-in-law oh god have mercy and other people shall say amen curse is the one who attacks his neighbor secretly and all that people shall say amen curse is the one who takes a bribe oh god oh god oh god to slay an innocent person and other people shall say amen curse is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law and other people shall say amen there are specific provisions for the curse and then for the avoidance of doubt there is a general provision in other words if i didn't mention it and there was no specificity but it falls under any disobedience you are under the curse of the law so this is the curse of the law now if you were living under the curse of the lord then it means that if your grandfather went to steal somebody's land want to see somebody's goat your your some ancestor went to sleep with a sister uh or whatever or somebody bought a slave in your family or somebody brought an idol into your family you are under a curse and that courage doesn't end with you it goes to your children and to your children's children to your children's children's children so if you were living by the curse of the law we were in big trouble because according to the case of the law your grandfather's sins are on you your father's sins are on you that idol in your village somewhere that whoever brought your family brought a curse to your family and it's pursuing you now you know that curses don't need visa you get it it doesn't need cash doesn't need visa like somebody says african witches they don't need british airways they don't need american visa they'll wait for you you bought the plane they will pursue you now so these are the curses of the lord verse 21 15 to jeremy chapter 28 follow me carefully determine 28 from verse 15 but it shall come to pass if you do not obey the voice of the lord your god to observe carefully all his commandments and his statutes which i command you this day now it has told us what the curse of the law is now we are about to see the sentence that comes first he said curse this discourages it what does it mean to be because what is the manifestation of okay what's the sentence okay if which are commanded is that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you now the curse of the law doesn't just come upon you it overtakes you in other words it goes into your future and waits for you come on now so you think you are running from trouble the trouble is actually waiting for you it comes upon you and overtakes you the curse of the law will come upon you and overtake you verse 16 specific here shall you be in the city shall you be in the country whether in america or barbados or wherever you are curry shall be your basket and your kneading bowl car shall be the fruit of your body the produce of your ground the increase of your cattle the ocean of your flocks cursed shall you be when you come in cursed shall you be when you go out the lord will send on you cursing remember not the devil not the better that we're not dealing with devil here the lord will send on you cursing confusion and rebuke in all that you set your hand to until you are destroyed until you perish quickly because of the all the wickedness of your doings which you have forsaken me and the lord will make the plague stay cling to you until he has consumed you from the land which you're going to possess the lord will strike you with consumption with fever with inflammation with severe burning fever and with a sword with scorching that would meld you they shall pursue you until you perish and your heavens over your head shall be bronzed and the earth which is under you shall be iron and the lord will change the reign of your land to powder and dust from the heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed it's so depressing i have to cut it short because as you read the rest of it you see the this curse of the law is big stuff so god says them if you disobey me you are cursed if you are cursed these are the marks including sickness including working hard and not seeing results it's all part of the curse of the law in fact when you read uh somewhere it says you marry and somebody else will take your wife it's all part of it it's a terrible thing to be under the curse of the law terrible you will plant a vineyard and another will enjoy you will labor for people everything you touch will be destroyed that is the curse of the law so the passage we read in galatians says christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us in other words when jesus died on the cross everything that had been said in deuteronomy was cancelled and he tells us what to do when anything like that happens because jesus in john chapter 3 verse 13 to 15 tells us what we should do about his cross he says as moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness even so must the son of man be lifted up that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life and the next verse is the popular one verse 16 for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son and what is jesus saying jesus says as moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness what is that the story is in numbers and i'm not going to get into it the children of israel as was their habit has this have disobeyed god and this time snakes serpents come to bite them and these snakes are killing them biting them thousands of people are dying and moses goes to god and said god what's happening the population is just dwindling these snakes are killing the people what should we do our god didn't say go and kill the snakes he didn't say that he says i want you to do something i want you to go and take bronze and look at one of the snakes and and copy them fashion the bronze like one of the snakes biting you and nail it to a tree and lift it up and he says whenever a serpent bites somebody they should look at the second of bronze that have lifted on the tree and when they look at that serpent they will be healed now jesus says in the same way when i am lifted up when the enemy comes against you to bite you you don't fight the enemy you look to the one who is on the cross you see the problem with us is we think if we can fight the devil enough we will be free we can bind him enough we will be free we can cast out enough demons we will be free the answer is not you fighting the devil the answer is you looking to the one who is on the cross and he says as moses lifted up the serpent so the son of man will be lifted up that whosoever will look up to him or not perish but have life whenever there is a symptom of the curse of the law pursuing you you don't spend the rest of your life holding prayer meetings casting out the curse of the law you spend the rest of your life looking to the one who was crucified on the tree and when you look to him the curse is broken i know that africans like hard work you know that's part of african heritage we like work even when there's no work we'll find work when it's easy we you know we we don't like easy things we like to be told hard things we like to pray for a long time we like to fast for a long time we like to work for everything to be able to say i prayed and look what god has done god appreciates that but 2 000 years ago he chose a death for his son it was the most humiliating way to kill anybody he was crucified between two thieves not between two pastors he was publicly humiliated naked the son of god suffered the most painful humiliating death because he was accomplishing something that was painful and humiliating it is called the curse of the law whatever was supposed to be upon you was thrown at him and he hung on the tree and he says all you need to do is look to me but when the enemy comes what do we do we pursue the enemy and there are people who tell you know what you're going through is from your father's family it's from your mother's family you have to do spiritual mapping we have to find out who in your ancestors did this how far does this go where is the curse coming from is it your grandfather your grandfather stole a goat your grandmother stole a coconut your grandfather stole somebody's wife that is why your family is cursed i know your grandfather stole a goat but that doesn't matter when the curse is coming when you see the enemy coming when you see problem coming you don't fight the problem you look to jesus the author and finisher of your faith christ has past perfect tense redeem us not he is trying to redeem us not may redeem us not can redeem us not is thinking about redeeming us or will redeem you when you pray or redeem you when you fast christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law how he was made a curse for us why so the blessing mongerism will come upon us in god's equation therefore there is no mount ebal mount ebal has been cancelled out and all that is left is mongerism and the blessing of mount gerism oh is amazing it is blessing that supersedes all other blessings i will just read a little bit of the blessing of mount gerism for you oh hallelujah you remember under the curse he said the curse will pursue you and overtake you eternally 22 from verse 28 from verse 2 and all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you because you obey the voice of the lord your god when christ redeems you from the curse of the law curse doesn't wait for you to overtake you blessing is in your destiny blessing waits for you and overtakes you all these blessings shall come upon you if i take you because you obey the voice of the lord somebody say well but i disobey god it's not about you it's about jesus he did your obedience for you and when you believe him his obedience is accounted into your account when he said not my will but your will be done he took on obedience for you we obey because he obeyed his obedience is our obedience verse 3 blessed shall you be in the city that includes dc and blessed shall you be in the country that includes some place in nigeria and blessed shall be the fruit of your body the produce of your ground the increase of your hairs the increase of your cattle your offspring all your flaws blessed shall be your basket and your needy bowl blessed shall you be when you come in blessed shall you be when you go out that lord will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before your face they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways the lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and all to which you set your hand he will bless you in the land which he has given to you the lord will establish your holy people unto himself all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the lord and they shall be afraid of you the lord will grant you plenty of goods in the fruit of your body in the increase of your lifestyle in the produce of your land the lord will open to you his group treasure the heavens to give the land to the rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand you shall lend to many you shall not borrow the lord will make you the head and not the tale now why is this blessing coming upon us it's not because you prayed it's not because you fasted it's not because you are the best super obedient christian it is because 2 000 years ago an innocent man was put on a cross even the crime they put on him doesn't make sense others will have a crime they stole a goat they stole a camel they stole a cow that did something terrible he had a crime king of the jews what kind of crime is that king of the jews because there was no crime they had to manufacture something and the best crime that they could manufacture to put on jesus for his crucifixion was king of the jews he was an innocent man and they took him dragged him naked and nailed his hand and tied him up and he bled and he thirsted and whilst he was doing that he was counting all the curses one by one one by one one by one one by one one by one every curse and after he had absorbed all the curse and vanquished it he said it is tetelestai in the greek it has been paid the account is settled when the greek man said it is finished that the less die it doesn't mean like finish like i have completed something a journey it is finished is like what you have when you pay your bill it is damn paid and settled the curse of the law is paid settled that is why paul could say we preach christ and him crucified now many times we we want to say we we preach christ and him resurrected yes that's true but without his crucifixion there'll be no resurrection we preach christ the healer that's true but without his crucifixion there is no healing we preach christ the one who blesses us but without his crucifixion there is no blessing the core of the christian message is christ crucified the crucified christ to the jews it's a stumbling block to the greeks its foolishness but to those who are being saved christ the power of god and christ the wisdom of god i came here just to announce to you my friends that yes once in a while a separate may pursue you once in a while you may see something coming against you but your response is not to fight the thing coming against you your response is to look to the one who is lifted in the cross his name is jesus he died for you he broke the curse for you and today there is healing for you you know it is so easy to be blessed it's so easy you know the way to be blessed is just say lord i believe how did you get born again did you go to jerusalem prayer adventure were you whipped for your sins when you said i want to receive jesus i want to be born again did somebody say okay now hey come and hold his hands and feet and let's give him 12 lashes is that what happened you just said i believe and you were saved in one moment you were translated from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of life one split moment you think your healing is more difficult than your salvation so how come when it comes to healing you don't do it the same way you receive christ when it comes to prosperity why don't you do it the same way you receive christ simply to say i believe and this morning there will be healings in this place let me say something before we receive our healing one of the challenges we have facing christianity christendom listen to me very carefully is we believe in the anointing of a man of god and the finished work of jesus we believe a person's anointing is what heals us we believe that if we can get the right man of god the correct one then our problem will be so we believe if a particular man of god lays hands on you all your problems are solved so in our christian life we are looking for people with so-called power christianity is not about anybody's power it's only one person's power his name is jesus you're not going to get healed because i'm anointed in fact i may not have any anointing and who cares he's anointed his name christos means the anointed one i don't need my anointing because i have christos and when you have christos his anointing is sufficient that is why john the baptist said he must increase i must decrease it's not my anointing i don't need to lay hands on you i don't need to command anything out of you the price has been paid the curse has been removed it is settled jesus finished it on the cross he died the humiliating death so you will not be humiliated he was brought down so you will be lifted up he was dishonored so you will be honored and if you feel there's any sign of the curse upon your life this morning you're going to shake it off you remember what paul did when a snake a viper tried to bite him he shook it off this morning there will be profound healings because jesus has broken the curse people whose businesses have collapsed because something has been pursuing you this morning that curse is giving way you are entering a season of blessing from this moment what was hard will become easy because of jesus stand up on your feet and lift up your hands and in your mind i want you to imagine jesus on the cross looking to jesus we see jesus crucified he's hanging there because of your pain because of your disease because of your sickness is hanging there because of your poverty because of what your grandfather did what your father did what you yourself did what your family did he's hanging there because of the idols of your family he's hanging there because you have disobeyed that's why he's there god will not punish you if you look to jesus [Music] and this morning burdens are being lifted at calvary yokes are being broken received now from him christ has redeemed us from the curse of the lord being made a curse for us that the blessing of abraham might come upon the gentiles we are gentiles we receive now the blessing of abraham whatever you need receive it from him receive it from receive him receive deliverance receive help receive strength receive healing father this morning we look to jesus we look to jesus we look to jesus we look to jesus burdens are being broken chains are being broken lifestyles are being destroyed what you have given up on god is restoring right now marriages are being restored relationships are being destroyed satanic attacks have been broken [Music] words that have been spoken against you have been nullified of power in the name of jesus in the name of jesus we receive healing receive help we receive salvation we receive blessing we receive abundance in the name of jesus [Music] christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us that the blessing of abraham might come upon us that we might receive the promise of the spirit through faith father this morning we seal our blessing we are firm and perfect our blessing we declare boldly today that we are blessed we are blessed we are blessed in jesus name amen if you really believe you are blessed why don't you celebrate the lord if you really believe it why don't you celebrate the lord [Music] why don't you go to three people and tell them no more curse i am blessed no more curse i'm blessed no more curse i'm blessed no more curse i'm blessed [Music]
