Members say that a mom and her 16 year old son were killed in a crash involving a Missouri City police officer. That officer and another man in the back of his patrol car were also injured. We hear Stephanie Whitfield has been speaking with the victim's families. Stephanie, what are they telling you to say? This family is devastated would be an understatement. The victim's husband tells us he lost his wife and son yesterday. He says yesterday was his son's 16th birthday. Our hearts go out to the victims involved in this tragedy. Missouri City. Police say this started when a call came in around 8:45 p.m. We're told a victim called saying a man had just committed a robbery at gunpoint and stolen $200. Thank you all for being here. Investigators tell us an officer heading to that scene, crashed into another car that was pulling out of a parking lot. The people in that vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Dps troopers identified the victims as 53 year old Angela Stewart and her 16 year old son Mason. They say Mason had just turned 16 yesterday and he was the one driving, the victim's husband and father came to the scene this morning and shared photos. He told us he found out about the deadly crash. When he showed up at the scene last night, I was just come and check and see why they were gone so long. We've learned another man was found injured in the back of the officer's patrol car. Hours after the investigation was already under way. Both he and the officer were taken to the hospital. The officer has since been released and the Missouri City police chief says he doesn't know why the man was in the officer's vehicle or how he's doing. And it's still vague to us until we get much deeper into the investigation, we can make that determination. We're still right at 12 into this investigation. So it's unknown why he was there. Police not sharing much information about that person at this point but they do confirm department policy says officers should not be responding to scenes with anyone in the back. In addition to the crash investigation, police say they're still looking for the suspect who robbed another victim at gunpoint.
