Downtown Carlisle Mystery Hole Discovered!

looks like an old pipe of some sort oh here we are in a different adventure today we're in downtown Carlisle Pennsylvania and a really old town a very old section of town lots of good history here the stone house behind me is owned by one of my own friends in fraternity brothers T Hall he just bought it and he said we can tear a yard up as much as we want so guess what we're gonna do today here's the old chick rig and there's this house what do you think it's pretty old doesn't it some old stone houses here too I can't remember when he told me this was built but I was like I think in the mid 1700s let's go look in the backyard see what kind of damage we can do looky he's got his new sign up t halls established 2018 terry is a dear old friend of mine I've known him most of my life the nicest guys you'll ever meet Carole's all over the world with another friend of mine Jimmy Reed and they have a good time we're gonna have a good time today huh hopefully no one's been here yet tis his yard he's got a building there I'll quit the Aspen with his electricity yeah there is electricity going to it so we're gonna have to worry a little bit about underground that underground line went to the house he's been working digging here he's got a couple of beds built so we've missed that spot and that a cool place though it's really awesome inside does he smoke breaking stuff here all right I'm gonna go grab my metal detector well look around we're gonna try to find the Privy hopefully it's in the back of the property here there's a kind of a low spot there that could be it gonna be awesome hang tight guys I'm gonna get my gear by the way I ran into a chick band a few minutes ago nothing McDonald's and had a nice little chat it's a recognize me because of the truck with the boat ha we really wish I could be in the river right now guys but everything is high almost got in the other day but then that suddenly came up like 12 feet so it might be another week or two before I can really get at it hopefully this summer won't be over by then all right we're almost ready just hang in there a minute it could be awesome all right so the first thing we're going to do is get the machine turned on and we're gonna cherry-pick and just look for the nice big easy signals turn to the threshold that still be down a little bit - all right let's look for the big easy stuff first big silver coins [Music] I'm sure gonna be a lot of junk out here from you know a couple centuries of people living here what I might do is go ahead and turn the camera off for a bit and it's hunt for a while I have to be a lot slower more careful when I get the camera running yeah make sure that not hitting that electric line either mr. Czech see it over by the barn so I want to make sure I thought it might be deep enough that we're not gonna hear it I hope look around toward the house I don't see where it goes into the house all right we'll just keep an eye open for that what you do if you get a good signal they just kind of keep following it if you don't think you might be on top of that cable let's go over here and look yeah we can't even hear it yeah okay this is pretty deep but which do you still need to be careful let's go back to this good signal we'll do that one on camera and then I'm gonna turn it off and we'll go from there if I can't even find it again [Music] no one's a little broken up that's kind of pull tab which I'll dig that one but I want to get a really good signal for the first one that's a really good signal small reading high this is not gonna be a big piece of iron or anything and then I'll go back and dig those other one for sure it's probably a penny like right on the surface darkus all this and dig a little carefully - just in case the UH there is what that thing is it's probably it though no it isn't oh oh look at that very nice 80s that's a coin signal I think he's a big old Spanish dollar now there it is right there what is it what is it it is I do dad huh Oh Deckard a piece of some sort I'm sure what I'm almost paused the best part of what it was or is see some charcoal ya I don't I really old stuff could be down several feet in here less than we problem you know not hearing it so it's either very shallow or fell back down on the hole I'll spread that out a little bit and put that over there grass side up probably in the hole yeah I don't sound too good but there's something in here might be iron looks like a bullet that just fell out too okay this is an iron it's like um might be like a piece of a mason jar or something and I'm not sure what that is I don't know if it's even metal really that was tiny metal it's almost like graphite q it should be a coin Chris I've said that about everything so far it's not real big so I know it's not a total piece of junk like a piece of iron or anything it's a stream real close by to could be some Indian stuff in it's a 65 but I can't really read it very well my eyeballs are shot today but at least it's a coin we'll check for more no more backup here we go all right I'll put that over in my order in me pocket all right for some more I think a lot of signals in here especially when we start digging these more questionable ones we'll be here all day I'll dig like anything 75 and above that solid as a cherry you can see how right here it's all dissolved and it's like looks like zinc that's because it is zinc is one of the cheap modern American coins that is a penny a course or cent that will dissolve into nothing in a few years in the ground so cheap stuff but they're also very poisonous so if you swallow that you might die or should I say venomous [Music] [Music] yeah a lot of big stuff here we're gonna dig that it's really big and it might be that underground cable so we're gonna go carefully when we dig it but it's an odd sounding thing looky grab that mean little buddy I'll put him back in put it back is we want to dig this out a little bit so we can actually see down in there come drink those for sure all right so let's dig this out see what's here I think it's probably a cistern if I had to guess an old one that's where they would store water to drink what else would be definitely been filled in whatever it is it's got a lot of rocks in it come down here take a quick peek then I'll pull some of these rocks out and see what we have so what I did is I collapse the top of it some more and you can see a lot of rocks in it that's almost like a cinderblock if that's a cinderblock we know it's not very old who was filled in not that long ago so I'm gonna go ahead and pull these rocks out maybe you know dig it out to here a little bit and I'll show you as soon as we see something amazing what's under there so I'm still digging away there's a lot of jumbled rocks in here with spaces in between he looks like this tin which I believe that's like a like a tin roof was laid over the top of everything so I don't know why they carved it up like that but keep going down there know what we're gonna do and we're gonna keep digging until we figure out what it is and whether or not there's any treasure chest full of colonial gold in there I think it might be this is really starting to get my curiosity up wondering because it keeps going it keeps going that way good ways and down a good ways to come if you see down in that hole probably not but that way and back toward the house it's almost like it's a collapsed tunnel or tunnel filled in like an underground railroad maybe it is did you know that here in Carlisle Pennsylvania right we're at the city of Carlisle there was a very infamous Indian School and what it was they would take the you know the North American Indians off the plains this was happening like this you know second half of the 1800s they take all the kids from the tribes ship him here to Carlisle to give them a white man's education and then send them back home and of course they weren't white men and when they went back home to their tribes often they were not really accepted because they you know had lived in the white man's world and was used to you know what we were used to so it was kind of a tragedy that's never really hear about you read about a little bit if you're interested in history but it happened right here in carlisle karr lyle army barracks is also here and i think it was probably associated with the indian indian schools kind of a weird piece of history but look it up sometime alright so I have it dug out a fair amount but I think I'm gonna go ahead and close it up for now I'm going to show to you and if you think we should come back one day and dig it out some more we'll do that I'm just not seeing any bottles or any artifacts or anything like that down there although it keeps going one last look we're gonna fill a patrol tree I think calls me everywhere thank you last peek at what we've done here you can see it goes way down there goes I just don't know what it is I just really don't know if I saw some bottles or something down there I keep digging I just don't see anything yet so let's cover her up see if we can find a coin or two before we have to go nice little squeaker here and I went ahead and dug it up I think it's a treasure what is it I'm not sure what that thing is heading nice solid signal looks of course everything looks like part of a clock maybe so okay some more of it I guess I must have hit it it's almost like a fuse doesn't it house fuse well if that's all yes he's a lot of glass yes I should put my gloves back on in charcoal and coal pottery now is it alright to more treasures to add to our growing pile of wonderful things right here that's it so far all right so I have a couple signals identified we're gonna go ahead and dig them up together if I can find him again I think it'll be pretty easy cuz the first 100 us stick kind of they're sticky okay you ready sounds pretty good it's about right where I set the stick hopefully we'll get it with that one so Barry I think that's it right there maybe looky I don't know what that is almost a part of a bell or something I'm not sure what it is though huh as if that was it yep that's all well add it to the growing collection yeah the second signal is under the stick right here but I saw this little baby bottle his Terry wants to dug it up when he's putting in his beds right here right there for now was uh pretty old but there's another signal well I'll let you listen to it under this stick [Music] reading pretty good hopefully it's something decent hit me in the head all right big chunk of iron unfortunately I hear maybe some forgot her maybe probably what I'm hearing I thought they were the bottle yeah that's all it was back to the drawing board okay so here's what I did is I went around and there it's Doug like now six or eight targets put them are to the hole and left him and we're gonna take a look at them together I can find him I start with this one right here I'm going to come back and fill in the holes and we're done filming okay here's the first hole and there's that target and I guess it's probably a piece of aluminum if I had to guess and the target there's another one over here let's see what this one is alright I think you do all right two pieces of aluminum will come back and get one and I think I have about three or four holes over here and we're looking real quick alright this is a treasure right here that is I have no idea I don't think it's very old though hmm no no some type of lid to something they almost has little air vents in it and I should know what that is guests can gas lid do you think I don't know you see all the charcoal and stuff that is my aluminum I think all the good stuff is gonna be pretty deep in this short this is another target it's a mason jar lid with a nail all right I'll set that over here with the rest of our treasures that we've been digging and I got another one here that's pretty junky too I don't know what that is and let's see oh yeah yeah this was interesting I haven't looked at it yet but looks almost like it might be a bird or something was could just be some sort of yard ornament don't know suspect it was or is no know what that is kind of interesting and last but not least urn here's or oh yeah this little doohickey here that looks electrical I would say or not a little bit of pottery all right that's it so what I'm gonna do now is I'm gonna go around and fill in all these holes and we're gonna dig some test holes in here to see if we can find the Privy I notice is an indentation right in here he's held a different kind of grass even so we're gonna do some test holes in here see if that might be the Privy for the outhouse because when they abandon those they would fill them full of bottles and stuff I would probably be like turn-of-the-century 1920 stuff so alright I'll let you know how it goes in just a few minutes well let me show you all of my finds all of them then I'm going to show you what I'm doing in the back and then we're going to spooped what we have here is a bunch of pretty much junk I think that's a 65 but I'm not positive on that but let me show you what we're doing in the back just kind of poking around a little bit see if I could find the Privy I don't have enough time to dig it today but looks promising see I dug a hole they're still getting artifacts almost at the bottom and over here it's a little bit deeper and it's still putting a dark dirt with some artifacts not a lot of stuff but you know a lot of coal and whatnot so this was definitely filled in so this might indeed be with a privy sat right behind me but we're going to scoop for the day and if the river doesn't go down we'll come back but if the river goes down anytime soon that's where you're gonna see me alright guys we'll see on the next one thank you [Music] in the
