I just restarted mine a few days ago. Oh well. πΉ
I don't like this philosophy. Yes, there is no need to restart, and a warning about what you will lose (and that you will lose EVERYTHING) are both valid points, but those aren't reasons to restart.
The reality is things like dock size, rock formations, river mouths and town hall location are all fixed when you start your island. If you want to change this part of your island, and are okay with starting from scratch, this is quite possibly the best time to restart. The sheer amount of new content will let you play through the game through a new lens that no other update has allowed up until this point.
Thank you! I've been posting similar warnings here and there. It's far better to raze part or all of your current island than to restart from scratch. Bells, Nook miles, island progress and stars, owned and catalogued items--all gone with a restart. Then you'll need a lot of time to build it all back up, just so you can take advantage of the update additions.
