Don Johnson Hints at Return of 80s TV Series Miami Vice | This Morning

joins us now it's lovely to see you I mean this is so up my street I cannot tell you I Christie is my absolute favorite so any kind of murder mystery whodunit and this is this is kind of a modern take on a classic isn't it yes we Rian Johnson and the cast and everyone we've we've put a a bit of a modern spin on it contemporized a really fabulous genre that that I've been a fan of for my whole life but I'm a fan of all genres so but this one is one of those that is so unexpected because you you actually witness the murder in the first two minutes and I'm the rest of the movie is like an absolute chaotic funny amazing flawed terribly flawed family and I'm I play one of the four people and and you said that it was only when he got to the Toronto Film Festival that that you realize actually how funny it was when you heard it when the audience are laughing yeah well I knew it was funny because we were laughing a little bit but you never know I mean when you're on the set you're kind of in a vacuum and you you you do what you feel is best and then you leave it up to the to the laughter gods and they were very kind to us so just explain a little bit more about your character and who you play I am the husband of one of the family family members so they're ergo I'm a family member and we have a son Chris Evans plays my son in the show and Jamie the Jamie Lee Curtis plays my wife Christopher Plummer and I have known each other a good many years let's just put it that way and I met Daniel before but I'd never worked with Michael Shannon and I'm and I was really looking forward to that opportunity Toni Collette is in it and she's incredible Jamie Lee Curtis of course Karen Langford or Katherine Langford yes and it is Daniel Craig Daniel prego hot bomb the bond guy oh yeah him got the bodyguard sort of movies like this he can imagine everyone sort of gets the ghost and does this scene and then goes back to their trailers but you guys got on really well it was it was amazing it was like being in we have a thing in America where there's there's professional theater it's called summer stock and we all used to do summer stock to do plays that you couldn't probably get mounted on Broadway but they were great plays and people would love them and you could make some money in the outer markets and stuff like that and but the great thing about doing summer stock is that you were all in this tiny theater with a tiny little green room and so you were kind of stuck together and so you'd hear all these stories the same thing happened on this movie we've all got these massive trailers that you could you know house a family of six and we'd go in get dressed get the makeup on go go to the set and then weave it all after we'd rehearse and get all the lighting started and everything we'd find ourselves in this basement room which is about the size of this couch here and we'd sit around between shots and tell stories and of course you can imagine the stories between Christopher Plummer and thanks Daniel Craig and I've got a couple in my kick and you know it was it was pretty it was exciting any any of them that you can tell here or they all probably could but I can't remember it I can't remember the whole thing yes rubbish storyteller a good story go have the right story yeah nicely and remember where you are so you and it was at Toronto that you bumped into Dakota as well wasn't it well yeah we we had a film in the Toronto Film Festival and I had knives out in the Toronto Film Festival and I think even Antonio had the mova dar picture at the Toronto Film Festival I didn't see Antonio but I was walking down the hall one day to at one of the press events and I was gonna go take a shot for Entertainment Weekly or one of the mags and and I hear from the corridor from behind me dad [Applause] well I'm a dad who's that I turn around its Dakota I mean I wish she was a little girl did you give her advice of going into it have a clue that she's even interested really yeah she she was always joyful on the set and she was always playing pranks on everybody and but little did I know miss Dakota was paying very close oh I'm - have you watched Fifty Shades yeah image control I mean control there are certain images that as a father you just don't know and of course she's got a dad who described himself as the sex idol described myself of that that's what it said well that's a big liar I wouldn't describe myself as that who described you it's true I have no idea you know they're one of those one of those sexiest men alive deals are some something well this is all part of course of Miami Vice which was just so massive I think it was it was something like how many Emmy nominations did you get in the first season of bringing it back kicking around some amazingly enough it's come back around and and seems they've run out of ideas for good shows so they they're going to the if they came as well which they sounds like they have yeah is this something that you'd be up for I'm gonna take that you're doing it aren't you that may be so many times it's always a note at that time really close yes I mean you know there's a lot a lot of water left to row but we'll see it would be a man I'd love what he was like now he'd be a lot wiser now I think with me I mean where would he be where would we find him oh you know I mean any number of places you know let's say you know an opium den in Thailand you know maybe not Goslar and in the Middle East I don't know and you know very experienced fellow he I don't know we will have to figure all that there's a lot of scope in the meantime knives outs which is amazing is in cinemas on the 27th of November the premieres tonight have a lovely premiere and Joe thank you so much thank you thank you you
