[Music] all right we are back again with you at the beautiful dolly sods today i am joined by my two good buds isaac and rob and we have a beautiful day i don't know if you can tell or not sun's out and about 53 degrees or so right now and we're starting on the robo planes trail this is rob's first backpacking trip ever so hopefully he uh has a good time and comes back hopefully we bring him back so we'll see and tomorrow's uh calling for some rain so we'll see uh you know maybe maybe get a little bit wet tomorrow maybe get a little bit wet through the night but we should be able to deal with it just a two day hike so shouldn't be shouldn't be too big of an issue to get wet on the last day all right we will check back in with you later yes so pictures continuing on here on the fisher spring trail now we came all the way down robul plains uh to some really really nice uh overlooks that overlooked the red creek canyon uh you could see lion's head across the way that was really nice which is where we're gonna be tomorrow and now we are on fisher spring trail headed down into the red creek canyon and it is still shaping up to be just one of the best days ever nice temperature not too hot not too cold and everybody's doing good what's up guys what's up so we'll uh catch back up with you a little later well we've made it to camp here on uh first day i guess that's the only day we're in here um for this trip getting some much needed uh food and rest we've done about five miles today uh pretty easy day so far uh most of it's been downhill and uh weather's been perfect we just had a nice little creek crossing and that went off uh pretty well but this is home for the night we're gonna eat a little bit already enjoying some tuna we got isaac jerky for isaac i think rob had some tuna also so we're gonna rest up get a bite to eat and then start on the uh camp chores for the night and uh hopefully i'll remember to take video of camp tonight and we'll show you what it looks like catch up with you a little bit later all right well just after six o'clock here uh saturday evening um got camp all set up isaac did the deed on the fire and uh isaac or rob and i got all the wood collected camp is set up and uh shortly we will be enjoying some dinner and bedding down for the night but a really good day today everybody had a good time and uh looking forward to uh hopefully not too much rain through the night and we can get some get some good hiking in tomorrow and uh we'll just see how it goes but you never know up here the weather changes on a dime and they're they are calling for rain might not get any might get six inches of snow so we'll check back with you here a little later well just a little after seven o'clock here still at camp and just getting ready to uh eat some dinner a little chicken fettuccine alfredo rain has started to set in don't know if you can uh see that just now started to sprinkle so we have made all the preparations at camp to get everything inside the the tents and canopies and want to eat a little bit hopefully uh sleep good through the night and wait out this rain we'll see if see if it holds on for tomorrow only time will tell so peace out see you in the morning [Applause] well good morning here sunday morning uh day two of our trip final day we're heading out um you can see that uh had a little bit of rain last night and stayed dry for the most part we're just now getting packed up ready to leave rain started about nine o'clock uh pretty pretty good rain and then man about 1 30 in the morning the gates opened up and it just completely downpoured i took a little bit of water in at the bottom of my shelter where it was kind of a little bit of a slope but was able to keep everything dry and the good news is that today is looking to be another beautiful day like yesterday sun's uh already out blue skies i don't know if you can see him back here but um the uh the one thing about our trip is that i don't know if you can see it here i'll get a better video of it later but um the creek red creek is uh way up yesterday we were able to stand down close to the shore and we are now able to only get about eight feet uh from it so uh or eight feet from where we were standing just last night now that doesn't mean the water is eight feet high it just means that it's swelled so we're going to try to cross this this morning might get some video of it might not probably going to keep the phones and everything all the electronics secure in a dry bag just just in case but man we will uh hopefully be talking to you in about an hour or so after we cross this bad boy talk to you soon well we successfully crossed red creek pretty interesting thankfully we uh able to have three long uh poles that we found and had to take it slow and easy but we made it no casualties no one went down rob almost did his eyes got pretty big once um but all is well and we're back headed to the truck we decided to change up our course a little bit um headed to we were going up to lion's head but with the weather and the creek uh rising we decided it'd be better to cross the creek sooner in the day rather than later and i'm gonna cut our trip just a little bit short but it'll be fine still pressing on the red creek trail almost out to finish up an awesome weekend only a two-day trip but good trip uh nonetheless and uh got rob out for his first time backpacking i don't know if we mentioned that earlier in the video or not but man i tell you what he absolutely crushed it had a good time i believe i know last night we were all had our phones out looking at our calendar seeing when the next trip was going to be so i hope he continues uh going with us and having a good time the uh also don't know that i mentioned for this trip isaac met us up uh here at the trailhead from beckley and because he met us here we were able to have two vehicles and for the first time in 25 years i was able to or we were able to leave one vehicle at one trail head load up in the second vehicle drive to another one and hike our way out uh and that allowed us to still keep the miles somewhat low for the trip and not have to backtrack and see the same thing for us [Laughter] nice effort nice effort all in all really good trip really good weather except for through the night but as always we just deal with it make the best of the situation and move on so thanks for joining us on this trip hope you enjoyed watching it and until next time
