times they are a-changin life isn't what it used to be but that may be a good thing because what if I told you that this could be replaced by this the mower preamp and you can even win this okay wait let's back up a little bit it used to be so easy you've got your guitar you run it through some pedals and then you put it in the amp but nowadays things are changing a rapidly it looks like everything is getting redesigned amps are turned into pedals cabinets are turned into battles attenuators are turned into the amps preamps are taken out of the amp and put into pedals pedals are put into the amps it's starting to get pretty confusing let me clear up a few things so from the electricity produced by the pickups to the sound you're actually hearing there are a few stages that the signal usually runs through if you understand all these steps you understand what's happening with all these different elements so we start with the guitar then maybe running through some pedals and plug the guitar into an amp the amp can be a combo or a head so in both of these we find a preamp and an optional effects loop and a power amp the cabinet is a part of the combo that's why it's called a combo from the Hat we need to plug it into a separate cabinet and finally we hear the sound coming out of speakers to our ears so here I've got the moer preamp live and what's happening is that it simulates the preamp of the amp and they put that part into this pedal well it's actually twelve of these I guess twelve different amps the preamp is the part of the amp that shapes the sound the most it's what makes the luke's reverb sound like the luke's reverb and the marshall plexi as a marshall plexi plex plexi so most of these amps characteristics are found in that preamp and by capturing that and putting it into a pedal you're basically copying a big part of that amp let me show you let's keep it in one piece because this one is going to one of you I know the power supply thingy but very it is so but what are we still missing then well the poweramp for example well if you play at home with studio speakers in front of you you don't need a power amp so if you just want to hook it up to them that's okay if you play alive and you just have a signal that runs to the PA you don't need a power amp if you got good monitoring or in ears you can just yourself clearly on stage so we don't necessarily need a power amp so for the cabinet this thing has a nice little solution it's a built in cap simulator flick this switch and it digitally mimics the characteristics of the speaker so this is pretty huge because this means that this pedal can replace your amp but can it let's find out [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] this is probably the worst demo of a preamp ever but you know this is just what came out making the demo this thing has all these features I didn't show Bluetooth you can capture a tone all these knobs switches and stuff but is it really a bad demo though well maybe for the sounds but you can just look this up on any other channel I put a spell on my board and then just unlock all the creativity I need it to make this track and to me that has so much value convenience is a high priority for me it just needs to work fast the way I wanted to and it needs to be reliable when you put this on your board you can literally just come to a show plug the direct outs from your board into the PA and they're everything through in-ear monitoring or just stage monitoring in autumn it's very handy to a plane work a lot behind my desk as you can see with a set of studio monitors and now I can just plug the output of my pedal board directly into the sound card and boom there it is all my pedals all my sounds directly under my feet no complaining neighbours no attenuators but still all the sounds but why not use the Kemper poll so the Kemper sounds great and for me the amp models in the camera sounds a little bit better than this preamp but I just don't hook my pedals up to the Kemper that quickly it's just another thing to do and the Kemper has a lot of great building effects as well which I often end up using instead but they don't inspire me the same way as a dedicated foot pedals do on my own pedal board and that's why I quite like this little mower preamp so if you're interested in having one you can win this one or my other one I'll give away two of these one is given away to my patrons on my patreon page because I appreciate every one on there so so much and one for all the fine folks watching my channel that I also respect greatly of course so keep it up check out the link in the description to participate and I hope to do two more giveaways in this month so keep an eye on the channel have a wonderful day if you like this video click the thumbs up subscribe to my channel if you haven't done that already I appreciate that very much and see you next time Cheers
