DJI Mini 2 Max Range test 21,061 feet

all right well let's go okay 100 battery flying in end mode the gold today is uh 20 000 feet i think we can make it we'll see get up a little bit higher for this first hill as usual this will be my last range test with the dji mini 2 using the stock lithium polymer battery perfect conditions just no wind at all right now get up a little bit higher bring the gimbal down and a little bit more yeah another beautiful day you can see the destination way out there in the distance that hill on the left that is the goal and just doing the screen recording i'm not recording on the sd card seems to come out good enough and that way the viewer can see exactly what i'm seeing on the screen here i'll bring the gimbal down just a little after i get over this rise yeah that looks about right and a little higher still there we go right over that okay trying to straighten out my flight path as much as possible to maximize the distance and uh 21.5 almost 22 miles per hour that looks pretty good yeah i'm finding the lithium polymer battery i've got maybe 10 or 12 cycles on it now charge cycles and it's performing a whole lot better than it did the first couple first few flights i didn't get very much range out of it it just seemed that the last half of the battery would really crap out pretty fast below 50 percent first half did okay but they say on these lithium light poly batteries that you really need to have a break in period and apparently that's that's true so this one here seems to be performing a lot better it's not dropping off on the last half okay we're well over a mile now a little over one-fourth of the way there yeah i couldn't ask for better conditions just absolutely zero wind again it's a low rise out there in the distance below that mountain you see a little hill out there that's just about four miles out so that's our destination and instead of getting right next to the road i'm pretty close to the road but it says weak signal probably because of that hill there but it's not blocking out or anything i'll go up a little higher there we go that's a little better so yeah i've done quite a few range tests on this and for certain uh end mode is much better yeah we had a little loss right there let me get up a little higher yeah end mode gives you a lot better range than s mode on my last test s mode uh did not do that well we still got out to uh 16 but i couldn't make it back i had to land it out on the airfield i'm a little further to the left than i normally am and i think that first hill we went over was blocking the signal that was the issue there so now i'm a little higher i'm also aiming the antenna down more directly at it it seems to be helping but yeah in my previous test what i was seeing was uh about two and a half percent of battery drop for every thousand feet out so based on two and a half percent that means if i go out 20 000 feet should be uh right at about 50 so we'll see if that pans out that reception looks better now than it did when i was closer in i think because i'm a little further to the right cancel the uh return to home on the battery looking real good good speed nice and smooth right where that road goes to the left i want to just skim over that and kind of go right to the right of that hill i'm not sure if it's beyond the hill or not i've got my spotters out so retain maintaining vls yeah this is looking real good i'm looking at the battery percentages based on what i was anticipating and we're right on right on target here it's nice not having that wind there's no drift so i'm not fighting that improves the efficiency quite a bit it might be just a little bit of drift to the right i'm seeing now but not much so my battery drop is actually less than i was anticipating now i don't believe i have a tailwind or anything she's just really doing good right to the left of the road approaching 17 000 feet we're well over three miles now getting kind of low seventeen thousand wow we're going to be above 50 when we get up to 20 000. i'm going to bring it up just a little bit i don't want to lose reception here it's like the ground is coming up pretty fast here well over 18 18 5. man much better than i expected can't believe it's doing so well again this is end mode it's a lot better than sport mode i wasn't able to get out near this far in sport mode the other day i'm gonna climb up a little ground elevates slightly here probably only 60 feet above the ground 19 000 wow all right we're just about to 20 000. heck i think i can go a little bit further 59 percent battery i'll never expect it to go this far this is just amazing 58 on the battery maybe when i turn around i might have a headwind but i think i think i'm going to turn around at 21. that's it let's get her back and hurry up yeah i got pretty good speed so dead calm conditions apparently 21 000 feet at 56 that's much higher than i was expecting so that would be i believe over four miles now the trick is to make it back but with 54 battery i think we can do it my best guess is we'll get back was just a little bit over zero percent maybe around five percent so yeah the stock battery with the dji mini 2 is better than the lithium-ion battery i assumed it was better at first because this battery wasn't doing that well and i was able to get out to 18 000 feet and back with the uh mavic mini one battery so this is a little better getting another 3000 feet out of it good speed 22 miles an hour i'm just hoping and praying the wind doesn't pick up here i feel a little wind on my back which would equate to the headwind out there we'll start bringing her down don't need all this altitude i'm really only about 150 feet above the ground bring the gimbal down a little bit better look at the ground and we'll bring her down a little more i like flying low it's a lot more exciting good speed still two and a half miles out bring her down a little more yeah that's better i get a little bit of that zebra pattern there i saw it starting to creep in when it does that i aim my transmitter down a little more to aim it directly at it that seems to help all right two miles out 32 battery no problem we'll definitely make it it might be below 10 but no big deal there yeah just dead calm out here today that is perfect and we are at uh about 3 300 feet over 3000 feet elevation the air is a little thinner up here that might add a little speed but might also uh detract from the range a little bit so about a mile and a half to go 25 26 percent of the battery left it's sunday so there's a lot of guys out there at the shooting range that's all that noise you're hearing out there it's only about a half mile away on my left here we'll be flying right to the left of it as we approach the hill that i'm standing on here and about 100 feet above the valley which helps you know with the reception and everything nice straight path this time no meandering back and forth so that's pretty nice okay now the alarms will start coming in all right a mile to go a little less than a mile 20 we're good i'd prefer that not be so noisy very there's the flying field off to the left i had to land there the other day in sport mode made it out to 18 000 feet with this battery everything stock of course but i was unable to make it back i think i landed with about seven or eight percent sixteen percent three thousand feet to go pretty close i'm right up there on that hill got a big blue tarp set up here sometimes it's kind of hard to see my location when i get close i'll start putting the gimbal down a little bit excellent less than two thousand feet eleven percent no problem all right now we're going to get those forced landing alarms thousand feet to go nine percent and i think there i am there's the big blue tarp and put the gimbal up and bring her down okay so uh four percent wow it's pretty close but we did make it with uh extra power to spare in the battery outstanding all right
