I'm just trying to keep it low my gosh 20% and we're over a mile I don't think we're going to make this I think we're going to have to bail guys hey guys thanks for tuning in check it out guess what we're doing today yep you guessed it the avat 2 range test now this is the avat 2 combo the flamor combo I have here don't forget you can win a brand new flamor combo in the Box I'm doing this uh raffle thing and that's going to be actually ending in a couple weeks so don't miss your chance to win the whole combo with three batteries and everything link down in the description on that one and also where you can get this avata 2 anyway we're going to put this thing through a range test I'm going to take it out and we're going to go straight that way I'm just flying at my house because my opinion is this is going to fly probably around the same amount as the avat 1 did and that was around 2 miles I think 2 to 3 miles so I think I can get away with it just doing it right from my roof here but a couple of things that I want to fill you in on before we get flying here is one I don't know if you can see that in my hat cam but I actually put a little chip in the front camera uh today actually I'll just FL around my house trying to cycle the batteries a bit crashed it right into the gravel so the bottom sensors aren't going to be perfectly keeping it off the ground if you're going really fast into a incline so I crashed it like that it flipped over and I think that's when it put a little Nick in the front lens and so we're going to see if we can see if that kind of messed up the camera at all I'm going to be recording on the Drone itself for this and also in the goggles so you can see exactly what's happening in all of our Telemetry and everything one more thing guys kind of learned my lesson on these range tests I bought a little kit of these pebblebee I think they're called they're not GPS trackers they're little just Bluetooth trackers that have like a 300t range and so if this thing Falls runs out of power or any of my drones that I do tests on like this this thing can recharge so it's got amazing battery power you can signal it to beep it has a loud highp pitched beep sounding and it Al also has lights on the side so it'll help me locate the drones that I do range test and it only weighs about 8 G so I figure okay 8 gam that's reasonable that's so that's pretty darn light I mean it's probably going to soak up a little bit of power using you know adding 8 Gams to the craft but I don't have a memory card in it so maybe that'll balance it out somewhat cuz this craft has 50 GB of storage one of the things that I wish the goggles had is some kind of internal storage they have nothing so you have to put an SD card in them to get any kind of screen recording going I think I also might do two range tests in this video so if you want to stick around it might be a long one but I think I'm going to fly out in normal mode and that only goes like 18 mph and then I'm going to come back depending on if we lose it or not fly out in sport mode there's a lot of opinions about if you can go farther in sport mode if it's eating too much power barely any wind today maybe 10 coming from the southwest so this should be a great range test let's get this thing up in the air and see how far it gets all right okay flying out ASAP and I'm going to just do remember full trigger in normal mode hereo this is a little bit nerve-wracking this is my first range test on the avata too so we're going to see and I'm just going to try to keep it over the tops of the trees guys look at that already have some high wind velocity and that's because it's kind of swirling today kind of interestingly um right around like 10 mph but it could be dead calm for 1 second and then it just kicks up to like 10 to 15 so hopefully you can see my hand here I think I'm filming it whoops don't want to go off course um but I have the trigger fully pegged and we're in normal mode I'll have up on the screen there on the bottom left it's uh a little n or a large n rather on the very Corner whoa and that wind is throwing me off whoa okay so this may be a little bit risky I I don't know we'll see how this turns out but anyway at least I got that tracker on board I'm pegged at Full Throttle and we're doing 17 18 so it's trying to fight that wind what I'm doing is I'm going for that Gap up there you see it where the reticle is cuz that's kind of the lowest spot on the Mountain uh direct line of sight from me to the Drone anyway let's get started here so what are we at so we're cruising at around 18 we're getting some high wind from the right uh back or should be like Southwest is where it's coming from and that pertaining like these don't have any compasses on them like the other DJI drones do guys so you're not seeing that little uh horizon line or anything with the this you can just see the in the camera the way the the Drone is tilting but I'll be switching between you know the the high definition 4K 60 frames per second I'm recording on the Drone and these goggles should be recording in like 1080 so I'll have both on the screen at times switching between the two at times um but you know I just want to give it a run for its money and just see now remember the the controller links to the goggles and then the antenna up on the goggles is all that is communicating with the Drone there's no communication between the straight directly from the controller to the Drone so you don't have to worry about where your controller is so I'm just setting it down here on the stucco so you guys can kind of see the controller at times when I want to show it to you because some people are asking um actually one of you guys was asking how is it left-handed and let's do that real quick so I'm going to switch over to my left hand by the way keep a an eye on the Telemetry on the screen guys so I switched over to my left hand and you can see with my thumb I can reach all the buttons just fine and then I just have to kind of reach over for this roller and that's the roller you're going to use for like pitching the camera up and down can't really pitch the camera up and down though when it's in um flight mode when you're flying and then uh you can also choose your easy Acro modes with this so don't really need to use this unless you're using easy Acro but all the other buttons are fine it feels comfortable in my left hand except maybe your finger might start to hit that roller once in a while but as you can see it's no problem in the left hand so those of you who are asking about how is it in the left hand it's perfectly fine except for that one little roller there anyway guys uh I know I'm jabbering but uh check it out we're at 70 ft above our launch Point altitude uh we're over a mile out so 6,23 ft and remember I'm only going like 18 mph for this so we're at 78% power all this stuff I'm talking about is on the bottom and then we have 4 minutes and a half on the record time so far so good uh RC signal is phenomenal and also the HD video signal is phenomenal you see it on the bottom right there all pegged at what four bars so I'm going to just stick I went up in height a little bit as you can see I was gradually climbing cuz I'm just pointing the reticle right at the horizon line just going to set my hand down here that's more comfortable for these long range flights so it looks like the wind is it's kind of died down a bit so that's great it's not really influencing us too much it's just going to be an off andon win there goes again so just going to want to be careful of that if we start kind of losing a little bit of um signal I'm going to be moving my head up and down I've seen one bar off of the HD and the RC is still 100% awesome so let me see if I move my head around a bit if I can possibly get a little bit more signal if I move my head up nope still down to three bars move my head a little to the right now so we're locked in at three bars right now and I think this is the way to go definitely I mean a lot of you guys have chimed in on my previous range tests and said Keep It Low keep it low and that's that works unless you start losing that direct point to your drone of signal right as I go over this peak here I'm going to start doing that you see how the HD just dropped out so I'm going to have to bring it up a little bit I don't want to go too high because that'll get in the Wind and uh so the only thing about this if you're trying to do these shots or I mean we're doing a range test right now so we're not really worried about shots but you cannot rotate the camera down at all unless you get into head tracking mode when you're doing this you can see my HD signal is starting to get weak cuz I'm I'm a little bit low and kind of going behind the mountain here or over the mountain there we go I actually just adjusted my position to the right a little because I do have a roof right in front of me so I just walk to the right W there we go and uh I'm kind of being cleared of my metal roof and that made a huge difference look at that I gained one bar just by doing that so these kind of little things just moving yourself around and altering the direction of your goggles and stuff is going to really help with that s signal so we're going to briefly cross over the road here just to get to the other side and I want to keep this pretty straight line here 59% and how far are we just about 2 miles guys and this is what I anticipated this thing doing um I'm thinking that if we turn around I think it turns around at 55% I'm thinking if we turn around at 55 we're going to have way too much power left when we get back so I might just turn around at 50 and hopefully that wind isn't too crazy but look at this I'm flying just above the Treetops and I'm still getting great HD video this is awesome okay so I'm just going to keep it low like this my good goodness so this is the ocusync 4 technology by the way guys I see no okay low battery rth and 13 seconds I'm going to cancel it by pressing that orange button oops oh that wasn't good I should have canceled it before or I should have waited till it actually went into it but anyway that canceled anyway I'm not going to go too far on this one I'm going to go up to um just 50% and turn around whoa kind of really losing it there I'm having to pick my head up a bit and then lifting the Drone remember I don't want to go too high in the wind I think I'm going to return home here uhoh don't want to land that's for sure we want to do a return to home well let's just turn it around manually and try to get home oh that was a little scary I just burnt some power doing that so boy I don't know what I was thinking return to home double tap uhoh let me get in to the goggles real quick and see if we can return to home I totally forgot how to just initiate return to home oh my gosh how do you just initiate return to home press and hold let's try that no it's just going to land so it's really good at returning to home AO automatically but oh my gosh I totally forgot how to return to home I just wanted to see what it was all about anyway we'll just fly back manually and remember we're flying jeez we're flying in normal mode I'm I'm getting a little bit nervous here because see how we're going like 17.7 milph hopefully we're okay I don't know but look at this signal it's phenomenal the aiyn 4 just hasn't even skipped a beat until I turned around a little bit and it kind of like stuttered there I have it in autofocus mode so if it gets a little lower signal it starts to make the center clearer and all that stuff but man I hope we're going to be okay I don't know I'll just keep it low and then hopefully land next to a landmark if we really get low on battery 35% jeez just under 2 miles left um guys are we going to make this might have to bail on this one of course that wind doesn't help right so I don't know if the winds hitting it like was helping it going out and not helping it coming in this is kind of scaring me because look I'm going 17 and a half 17 with gusts coming back but when we were going out I was hitting like 18 I think so I may be really screeding it of course it doesn't help if I'm charging in I mean recording in uh 4K 60 right I could stop recording that but then it will stop my goggles cuz I have them both to record so I'm just going to leave it whoa is that the wind nailing it here interesting so you see that left tilt and by the way guys you can adjust this too if for example you wanted to um have it have the Horizon totally steady you can there's a setting in the camera where you can make it just like any other DJI drone and it studies the Horizon as well if you wanted to get those cinematic shots but for these types of purposes um and you know if you're just flying fpv you want to have that tilt kind of gives you that effect and it lets you know how you're turning and stuff it's totally up to you by the way I don't see any problem with the camera remember I was telling you there's a Nick in it getting kind of close to the trees here but look how clear that video is I'm just over the Treetops at like what a mile and a half away man are we going to make this another one of course I really hope I don't lose this one at least I have that tracker on it and that 8 G you know it's going to be a little bit of extra weight that probably the Drone isn't anticipating but with the way the wind is I I really don't think there's going to be an issue with that little bit of power because once you if you get a gust that's working against the Drone anyway it sucks power immediately so I'm not going to worry about a few grams but I'm just trying to keep it low my gosh 20% and we're over a mile I don't think we're going to make this I think we're going to have to bail guys I think we're going to have to bail jeez so I think the wind is kind of hitting it from the side front right here which is not good 18% and this is this is the reason why I go higher guys if I really want to try to make it home the craft at a certain point will just start dropping and then you you can't bring it any higher so that's some of the that's part of the reason why I I bring it higher I'm going to start turning to the left to try to get near the road and find a clearing okay man are we back at like around the same park jeez Louise yep look at that there's that same park I think I was at last time where I lost the other mini4 Pro drone yeah we're not going to make it back with this wind and stuff so good example of course I don't want to be right where everybody's going to see the Drone so let's look for a bail Point hopefully I can keep good signal with it I don't want anybody to hear it and go get it that's one of the things right so let's start looking for a place to land here 9% what the heck what happened here my goodness I just messed up that uh return to home is what I did I'm going to go along these power lines and start getting lower 7 % I'm doing this so I know where to get it too low Landing holy cow uh-oh disconnected right there so at least I know I'm I'm in those power lines there and I have the Beeper on it and everything my gosh we did it again oh that's what happens when you push it let's see if I can find this thing hopefully it's easy to find this time with that beeper and stuff oh boy [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay guys so we're at the area just parked my truck back there and uh remember I was following these t phone poles lines over this way and I don't know if it's in a tree but I'm going to go where I think I'm close and then oh there it is right there well that was easy let's just do a test of this beeper man note to self right so luckily in that one I mean I didn't do exactly what I wanted to I'm just there's the drone over there but before I go and get it let's just go what go over what happened so I was finding a landmark I knew where the park was over here started following these lines I'm pretty sure it fell out of that tree it probably tried to land on this tree but at least I was next to these telephone wires and the road so that was good what I should have done and I keep doing this it's hard to think when you're panicking because you don't know when it's going to cut out like you saw how it was going lower and it was reaching that vegetation line where there wasn't enough signal penetrating the trees and it just cut out all of a sudden even better would have been to look down with the controller stre straight down and just move over to a clear spot and before I go and get it I want to see if this thing works here my little beeper because this will be a good test scenario here so this one's called Pebble be trackers I got like a three kit I'll have it in the description at a discount so I have one label as P1 drone so I'm going to click find and it has this Buzz so let's click buzz and see what happens there we go awesome so you hear that and there you go nice flashing really loud noise and then it stops after something like I don't know 20 seconds so you don't keep wasting battery if it's not near you that thing works phenomenally cool so definitely going to be putting that on my drones nowadays um when I do these range tests that was a pretty easy find you've seen my other range tests where I just couldn't find it I lost a Mini 4 somewhere in these Woods over here I'm still looking for the Mini 4 Pro you guys have probably seen that if not go check it out on the channel so anyway guys what do you think that was a pretty radical range test uh we went over 2 miles definitely a pretty robust drone remember there was that little speck on the lens and I didn't even see any difference in the camera so the camera was fantastic but if you're recording in 60 frames per second in 4k it looks like this thing is going to eat up some power and remember remember I was messing up with a return to home lesson learned I'll have something pop up on the screen so you guys know exactly how to manually trigger return to home because I've never had to actually use that before I've always just it it just goes into return to home on low battery and then I would cancel it so that was actually a little bit of a misstep for me to manually turn it on and I think that's what happened was I kept trying to hover and turn it on and pause the Drone in the air and I think that's partially why it didn't make it back so if you guys want to stick around I think I might want to do one more and I'm going to do it in sport mode so stick around if you want to see that wow guys so quite interesting wasn't that the uh the normal mode and I know exactly now what I did wrong sometimes it's hard to remember the controls on things these things but holding this lands and that's what I was doing out there when I wanted to return to home it's this one it says H right on it of course when you have the goggles on you can't see that but I totally spaced out that that changing the mode button if you hold this in it goes into return to home so going to remember that for this one we're going to go out there in sport mode fly the sucker the same route I think I might let it turn around when it thinks it has to on this one which would probably be around 55% all else fails we know how to ditch it so let's see how it does in sport mode with that same test okay guys one of the things I have noticed is sometimes the controller takes a while to connect like usually want to do drone goggles and then controller but controller's on it's not connecting so maybe so they something they can work on there we go we are now connected to the RC that just took a while launch and immediately going to switch into sport mode which is this button right there there we go we're in sport woo okay I have a feeling this isn't going to last very long but a lot of you guys wondering how sport mode does this is for you I'm just going to fly in between the houses here just in case something happens I don't know how hammering the uh Full Throttle on sport is going to deal with the battery so hopefully it doesn't overheat and fail or something but we're just flying the same route right in between this little Valley Nook right there already at 93% Power I have a feeling this is going to go quick we're going at 30 between 30 and 35 depending on gusts I guess I want to bring it down a bit and remember I was way over here on the edge for the best signal so the only thing I'm doing different guys in this flight is flying straight out in sport mode and also I'm going to let it turn around when it think thinks it needs to those are the only two different things I'm still recording in um 4K 60 on the Drone still recording my goggles I really hope that all the Telemetry is up on the goggles there was one update guys that uh DJI had again since my last flight on all this stuff so you know hopefully that worked out some of the Kinks I was having on the first flight review so again just staying above the Treetops so remember 18 mil hour in normal 35ish in sport so man I know some of you guys I mean you you don't know how it is until you lose a drone internally the way you feel so forgive if I was a little bit panicky or maybe I wasn't externally but internally my goodness uh I do Panic out so I'm feeling some wind where I'm at now I'm not sure how it's going to be out there it just seems really variable today just coming up and then just getting completely still right around 73° today if you guys were wondering and uh you can just see the wind kind of hitting it on occasion right and that's that's just what happens with gusts so here we go my HD is down one bar 71% we shall see if we can get any further I think we're just over 2 miles on the normal mode and that was only going 18 remember and here's some news for you I I think this thing's most efficient flight speed is right around 22 to 24 milph um what I didn't show is on another flight I actually tried the return to home I went out a little bit and it came back at like 24 milph so I have a feeling I'm just saying this now that just speculating though I think this is where we crossed the road was was it or maybe a little further up up there just speculating I have a feeling that in normal mode the reason why it's maxed out at 18 I don't know maybe the sensors the ground sensor and everything works better um but in in sport mode I don't know obviously faster things go not quite as good everything the sensors and everything work but that's just speculation in um but then the return to home on normal mode was 24 so I have a feeling that I don't know I I just think that's the most efficient speed you guys can chime in in the comments below tell me what you think yeah so we're getting boy just around the same whoa my signal just really popped out quite a bit return to home in 5 seconds we'll see how far we get but I'm just thinking it's going to be just about the same let's Let It return to home on its own and hopefully gosh dang it we make it back I have no idea let's see how fast it tries to come home well it's trying to come home a little quicker than in normal mode on my previous attempts I know I didn't show that in the the last flight we just did in normal mode but let's just see man trying to come home a little faster so it looks to me like it's kind of compensating for sport and trying to bring it home quicker so here we go we're just going to let it go home I have no control of it right now but what I wanted to try in this in this flight guys is rotating the camera so here I go I'm just rotating nice so we can do this we can rotate the camera Cera up and down if we want o look at that wind nailing it whoa look at that sucker so the breeze came up and do you see how it's it's in Focus mode where the perimeter of the screen and the goggles is kind of blurry so what it's doing is it's saving its bandwidth for the center of the screen which is really all you need you don't need to see everything around the screen perfect clear so that's a kind of an ingenious idea from DJI to to kind of save some power so we're coming back at a little bit higher boy do I want to take over and just get lower I almost kind of want to I don't know I think we might be okay though I don't want to even touch it because last time remember I messed with it it just burnt so much power cuz it has to stop and then it has to restart so that could kill like several percent just doing that so I'm just going to let it go hopefully it can handle this wind it looks like we're yeah we're up on the curve a little bit than compared to the last flight so think we'll be okay I do risk drones in my range tests and you're not going to want to do this on a regular basis I mean I I only do these range tests so you guys know you know at my expense fence what happens with these and you know you're not going to be wanting to do this you you definitely don't want to bring your battery below like you know 20 10% very often because you'll just keep you'll just eventually degrade your battery and runin it and yes if I were you and you were just buying this for yourself and flying normally don't let it get much below 20% and let it return to home when it wants to um those are two words of advice but you guys that watch my videos know what they're all about and we like to push the limits for science in these videos and I appreciate you guys that understand that and those that don't well that's the way it is some people just don't get it this is getting quite a bit of win guys from the left you see it just keeps cranking but I think we're going to be okay we have just under a mile left to go I do like how you can tilt your camera down on return to home cuz you can't do this any other during flight at all unless you pause flight or if you have it in head tracking mode and maybe we'll try that real quick while it's coming home since we can't do much I'm going to go into the goggle menu I'm just pushing o that's the bottom I'm pushing pushing back on the goggle controller let's go into head tracking doesn't let you head track when you're returning to home all it let you do is use this roller to go up and down which is fine it would be nice maybe they can able that to at least head track up and down but I guess that's just kind of redundant since you can do it with the controller so obviously since when you're headtracking the Drone goes side to side it actually turns its Y when you turn left and right it doesn't have a left and right gimbal just an up and down and it does that left and right Horizon correction with El electronic image stabilization so obviously it's not going to let you turn left or right when you're coming home or else it would be off of its goto home trajectory right so check this out guys Wow Let's see how high we can go up with this camera I didn't even explain that in my flight test it's only letting me go 56 at this speed if you're hovering you can go higher see how low you can go oh it's covered up by that but it looks like it's pretty much 90 at that sun reflection on the earth that's kind of interesting huh so we're going to get home just fine in sport mode and there you go with a little bit of wind out you really want to just let it come home when it wants to because you don't uh normal use you know I'm going to cancel this return to home pressing the orange button that's why it was confusing me because it was it's the orange button to cancel but it's not the orange button to starter return to home just to land and to switch to switch modes is this button right here so I'm in normal mode I'm going to bring it in CU I'm already at 14% while I have you here though look what this thing can do hopefully I don't crash it look at this and it's so easy guys you don't know how easy this is all you're doing is tilting your wrist around it's amazing so if you haven't flown one of these yet try to get your friend to fly one and if you're starting fpv drones guys this is the one to get okay Landing here so guys what an absolute blast of these two flights and we learned some stuff today man I'm continuously learning how to prepare for ditching slowly getting better kind of learning my lesson from losing that Mini 4 Pro out here at that same park somewhere around there remember that it's just a matter of keeping your wits about you not panicking just finding a spot of course you want to use up as much battery power as you can to get as close as you can and that that's the gamble that I'm always having trouble with is I can push a little more and then all of a sudden you have no more video it cuts out and maybe it lands on a tree so anyway this thing was beat up man so I crashed this thing at least four to five times uh just during my flight review and also just flying around before I did this flight test having fun around the house it's got some Nicks and dings we broke one propeller in the flight review replaced it no problem cuz you get four with that fly more combo wish they give would have given you a little a little bit more but it still flies fine performs fine so let's talk about those two range tests today win was a factor you could see the Drone just fighting when it was gust it would burn some power just really remember hold the mode and the return to home button in and it will return to home at any time I was fighting with this button and that was my mistake and I think I think honestly it would have come home or got a lot lot closer than when I ditched it in that last flight because I was just fiding with it and burning too much power but there you go normal mode sport mode two range test back to back in the same video doesn't look like it's going to make a difference as long as you let it come back in sport mode when it thinks it has to it came back at like what was it 177% it probably would have been more than that in normal mode if I had let it come back so just about the same they're getting better at calculating all their flight times and what they think they're probably even starting to calculate a little bit of the wind speed when it detects wind out there it's going to fluctuate on that flight time and return to home time as well and it seems like they're calculating that better and better this little pebblebee guys I did grind off it had a little clip tag on it like a little piece of plastic I just grinded that off cuz this is going to be my designated drone tag this thing works great I did the demo in the woods over there for you it's really loud you can recharge it unlike Apple Air tags my goodness and it lasts I think it lasts more than a month I think they said like something like up to 6 months but of course that depends on how much you're using it and connecting it to but at least you can recharge it and it has lights on it really bright lights and it's really loud so I'm going to be putting this on all of my range test crafts from now on anyway guys I think that's going to kind of wrap it up don't forget I'm raffling one of these off the whole Flore combo with three batteries like I was explaining and that thing is ending in a couple weeks so don't forget to check the links down below where you can get the Avada 2 if you want to buy it and also if you want to enter that drawing that'll be down below as well so don't miss that I hope you enjoy the video I had a blast and I'll see you in the next one thanks for watching
