I'm going to use this foamboard to build a Sukhoi Su-57 model and flying it with EDF and pusher prop which one is better? Because I already made an F-22 Raptor so I think it would be interesting if I build a Su-57 too The scale will be the same as Raptor which is also shares the same wingspan length Start by preparing the plans, before tracing it to the foamboard I share the PDF plans and build instructions for this model just check on description for download links The model base consist of 2 mirrored parts joined together This model is build by my friend Ale Then he continue gluing the formers on the base You can use 1cm wooden dowel bamboo aluminum or carbon tube for this spar Some edges need to be sanded diagonally to be fit on seams on the real jet, this part of the wing can be moved down I don't know the function of it, is it like a droop flap or like canard please share your knowledge in the comment box below check the upper left corner of the screen for part's number Some parts need to be curved, so here he cover the outer surface of the part with packing tapes so it will not break when bending this is the cockpit part Su-57 cockpit is very small compared to the size of the plane wait! what the heck happened to that canopy I usually make the upper part curvy like the real jet but the under part will be boxy for easier build so there's a trade of scale model and simplicity fo the nose tip you can use papercard like this or use 3d printed part I'll include the STL files with the plans and then he assembly the air intake and engine part of the jet the engines are so wide apart from each other so you can add a single 70mm EDF on the center or twin 64mm EDF twin 70mm you will need all of the under parts to be able to fit them but it surely can be done and for pusher prop you need to cut this tail and add plywood firewall on it for this part Ale use 3mm foamboard the real aileron is so small so here I added a bit of area to the aileron you can see here he already prepared the servo cables for the elevator he use white packing tapes for covering the model This model needs 4 of 9 gram plastic servo Ok I already received the airframe from Ale's factory it's time to paint it because he uses packing tapes covering I need coat the surface with plastic primer first, but this time I will try a new technique by using brush to apply the plastic primer this type of plastic primer is 2x cheaper then the aerosol or spray can version this quarter of kg container can be used for at least 5 models but don't add to much as the solvent will melt your foam I draw a camo manually using a pen and then start applying masking tapes to drawn lines I use Diton Executive Gray for the base color and Navy Blue for the camo here I prepare to install the canopy these parts are cardboards I printed the pilot figure with Bambu Lab X1- Carbon 3d printer I always use this printer because it's very fast but still has smooth result this is 0.3mm mica plastic for the canopy the decal files will also shared along with the plans here I install my FMS 70mm 12 blades, 6S EDF 80A ESC I also plan to take off run with wheels so I make custom wheels using 10mm EVA foam and 3d printed center wheel here, I use Creality Ender 3 converted into laser cutter 3mm plywood for landing gear base printing the nose tip and parts for a landing gear wheel parts front landing gear I'm using 3 wood screws to install the landing gear I made a maintenance hatch here to manage the servos cables inside here is a receiver cable to the front, to the cockpit I made a simple lock for the canopy I also cut the canopy hatch by by following the camo lines I use velcro to secure the battery it's 6 AM time to load the jet and drive to Hendi's home 8 AM in the morning at Rumpin Airfield I use CG location on 5.5 cm from the wing break it's about 20% of MAC or Mean Aerodynamic Chord I also use elevon setup on the tail and normal aileron on the wing control surface movement check before flight and also gyro check I only use gyro on the aileron ok here we go the maiden flight doh, it's blurring it's keeps diving can it be trimmed? the handsome sound woah, woah woah Oh no How uncle? ok let's break it second by second the plane was veering to the left, but because it has no rudder nor steering I hit the aileron stick to the right that's why the plane banked to the right on the ground and the I pull the elevator stick up Like my crashed A-10, the nose of the jet wanted to dive all the time at that time my elevator stick was already all way downed I held the elevator down to maintain the plane to fly leveled and then what I was thinking was just want to land the plane immediately lower the altitude and turn around but I miscalculate the range of the plane I thought it was in front of the tower while the fact is, it was way behind it and then bam it hit a tree luckily it was not a total loss but some foam parts are missing Also I lost the right main landing gear and one battery they're somewhere on top of that roof yay, I found the extension cable for the battery and the fragment of the nose and finally the battery, it fell about 20 feet or 7 meters from the crash site okay, I got all I need except the right main landing gear was nowhere to find while I repair the plane, Hendi was flying my new DIY micro Twin Otter and then we're ready to try it again this time without landing gear and moved the CG to 8 cm from the wing break I thought it was not enough throttle Okay, try again wow, again? although already with full power? test the CG by hand launch the result is okay After repaired I trimmed up the elevator still when I ease the elevator stick it was diving deep and because the plane was flying to tower direction again I cut it off I try again with the CG 10 cm from from the wing break what? maybe the batteries were low After repairing again, change the battery and still with 10 cm CG, we try it again It's still keep flying up and down still need to hold the elevator stick although I already trimmed it all the way down on the stick and all up on the elevator the plane was unstable and I think it was a bit tail heavy but then I realized maybe it's the same as my A-10 The EDF keep pushing the nose downward because of the thrust angle I never check the EDF thrust angle Okay, I think I got it, this plane is tail heavy but the EDF keep pushing the nose down, so it's still flyable because when I ease the throttle, the nose pitch up because of the elevator trim and then stall I ran out of battery but I still need to figure out the correct CG My plan was to repair the damage, so it will be flyable again, swap the EDF with pusher prop, and change the CG to 8 cm from the wing break that CG is about 25% of MAC I use the same specs as my pusher F-22 with DXW 3536 1200kv 10 inch prop, 50A ESC 4S 2200mAh Lipo and I remembered I don't have spare 10 inch so I print it out using PETG filament, with 75% infill so here, I'm at a lake to test it again It fly straight, so it's a good sign but still need a bit of up trim on the elevator or down trim on my stick after a bit right trim it can fly straight finally, I moved the CG for maiden flight 5.5 cm to 8 cm to the wing break I think this is the right CG the roll movement is a bit too sensitive maybe I should use 80% rate the wing is huge but very easy to roll maybe almost in the brink of unbalance maybe because of the small vertical stabs it less stable than F-22 but you can always reduce the control rate [Chattering in Russia] [Bl*at] [laughter] damn that Raptor
