hello everyone today I want to show you how I made these inexpensive Anthropologie esque curtains the first thing I did was pick up a cheap drop cloth from a hardware store these are way cheaper online and so I'll link one of those from Amazon I also grabbed some Rit dye from Walmart and a bucket for dip dining I will also link some Rit dye color recipes below I started out by placing my bucket in the bathtub I filled that with hot water per the directions on the width I and then I started mixing the recipe that I again I found on the wit dive website for what I was hoping would turn out to be burnt orange but didn't really turn out that way did find that my Walmart was pretty poorly stocked with rich-guy options so I wasn't able to find the exact colors for the color recipe so I just kind of need it work with mine and I didn't really mind turning this into a first time rip dyeing experience if you don't feel like doing a Rit dye experiment in your bathtub I quite like the natural look of the drop cloths as well I started off by using a sample piece of drop cloth and just testing my color adding more colors as I went from my diet and when I felt like I've reached the hell that I wanted I went ahead and squished my entire drop cloth down into the dye in the bucket here's where I would highly recommend getting some rubber gloves which I didn't think about until it was too late and I walked around with orange hands for a little while this day after you get your entire drop cloth submerged it helps to set something heavy on top of it to keep it under water so that you don't get watches where any cloth might float out of the dye and here's my super cool orange hand that I was pretty proud of for the rest of the day so I left my drop cloth in the dye for about 15 minutes and I love the color it was screaming however I should have looked it in for twice as long because once I had sent the drop cloth through the washing machine it had bilder colored quite a bit so if you're doing a darker color I highly recommend quite a long soak time as I started to pull the drop cloth out of the bucket I realized that there were some spots where it was pretty blotchy and so I just stuck those back into the dye for a couple more minutes after I felt like there weren't any more big blotches I just pulled the whole thing out and gave it a quick rinse in the bathtub before transferring it to my washing machine and then the dryer in the meantime I went ahead and my helpers and I put together the tassels that we were gonna hang from our curtains so I picked up this inexpensive chunky yarn and some wooden beads and then I just cut a rectangle out of some cardboard that would be the link that I wanted my tassels to be and mine was about 6 inches then I cut a couple pieces of yarn that we'll use later and then all you have to do to make your tassel is wrap your yarn around the piece of cardboard and the more you wrap the thicker you are test will be so I wrapped about 25 times it around the cardboard and then when you're done you just trim it off and then you're going to use one of your string pieces to tie off at the top so I didn't end up recording the process of adding the wooden beads but if you are going to want to add some beads or detail to your tassel you're going to want to make sure that this string is long enough to accommodate for those then once you get that top one tied off real tight you can just cut the bottom of your yarn to release it from the cardboard then you're going to take your second string and you're going to tie it around the top third of your tassel and you just want to I just wrap this around and just tied it tight and then you can go ahead and trim off any little tails that are sticking out so I went ahead and did this 12 times but I only ended up using 8 of the tasks I need but there you have it it's an easy castle yeah 12 say 12 so once I took my drop cloth out of the wash I trimmed it down to the size I wanted for my curtain panels you can trim it into whatever size you want or leave it huge if you even want to do that but then I was left with these raw edges so to keep this an easy no sew project I just ironed over the raw edge a couple times to give it a nice crisp fold and then I use this really handy liquid seam glue it works really well I've used it several times and then I just put it underneath each fold and use some clips in pins to hold it down it needs to dry for like 15 minutes before you start wrangling the curtains around again you may notice that my curtains got a little lighter and the color that they came out of the washer wid was giving me like old shop rag vibes and I just couldn't love it so I did bleach them and lighten them up a bit well like I said this has been an experiment so here I'm just hot gluing my tassels to the back hole that I have in my curtain I left mine extra long so the and this gave me a spot to glue my tassels I wouldn't be able to see where they were glued if you didn't want to have a pool you could want you just have to figure out some way to cover up then I just use these handy curtain hooks to hang my curtains up onto my custom curtain rod I'll link that video below so once you get your curtains hung up you're just ready to enjoy them and admire your handiwork it always feels good to make something that looks like it was expensive or from an actual store so I hope this video inspired you to put your own touch of creativity into your enjoy [Music] [Applause] [Music]
