DIY Deck Part 8 - Preventing Joist Rot

okay I have my decking all framed out choices and everything in place so now I'm ready to put my decking on but before I do that we're gonna cover all my choices and my beam with this this is ice shield that you put underneath your the edge of your roof to prevent the ice from backing up and what I did I just cut it in inch and a half strips that I can put on top of my my choices and what that does that prevents water from sitting on top of those choices and writing them out prematurely and these this is a really good stuff to use it's self-adhesive now I cut my ice shield the strip's I caught them on this saw what I do is I remove these guards because I don't want them covered in tar and then I take a can of silicone and I spray it to the mountain to here down here then I got this old blade now when you're cutting your weather shield you should do just two or three strips at a time and then clean out yourself and with the seleção it comes right off and when you're doing this make sure you unplug your saw and I don't cut right on the line I've got just a little bit over I want to just a hair wider than the other choices and without your guards on there you'd be careful with your saw straight [Applause] I'll get in put some silicone on my Play [Applause] [Applause] comes off pretty easy with that silicone on there [Applause] yeah if you clean it every couple of cups then it won't find its aw
