[Music] [Applause] hello everybody and welcome back to our YouTube channel we are as always your hosts Arne and Carlos and today we will show you different way of decreasing oh you mean for the hats all the hats because we brought our small collection of hats and when you meet through this hat you will see there are different ways of decreasing and we will tell you why and show you how perfect so we look forward to this [Music] but before we start we have to remember that if you like the video you have to put your thumb up and please remember to subscribe and put down your notification turn on your notifications no turn on your notification yeah that way you will never miss an episode of our show we usually post on Sundays at 6 p.m. Central European Time but sometimes we may add a video you know in the middle of the week I'm a Tuesday or a Friday and if you turn on your notifications you will never miss a single episode of our Channel perfect perfect so now that's out of the way we've got all these hats here that we've done and there have been a lot of fun to knit except for okay so this one is to be us this is the only one that has more than two fedoras this one has one two through four colors but anyway this is to be us and all the others have yeah oh yeah yeah yeah five colors one two three four this one has five colors and all the others have two colors and we've given them of course as always Norwegian names and I'm sure that a lot of people would like to know the names you can find the patterns for our hat or hats on our webshop so just go there to Arne Carlos calm and get the patterns anyway they've got Norwegian names and I'm gonna say them out loud because that will help you remember how to pronounce them so this one here is called tortoise and the two days is a Norwegian name it's a woman's name or Scandinavian name anyway so - this woman's name we've got this one here this one is called survey numb and Sven own is a man's name Nordic or Scandinavian anyway right yeah and then we've got let's see this one here this one is called Abe that's a woman that's a woman's name I'll a IR it's a nice name it's actually a very old norse name I think and then finally sorry why are you wearing even changed we're trying that yes okay yeah well it happens mr okay now I'm looking over here and and then finally the last hat is called Sigurd and Sigrid is a man's name Nordic Scandinavian man's name so Sigurd I swam toward Isis and to be asked now orna let's look at the different tops or crowns of the Hat a little bit about the decreasing so for these two there are just one color when you start you're decreasing so normally you would think I do slip one knit lifts slips slip stitch over on the right side and then two together on the other side and we didn't do that on base so if you knit from the pattern and you think it's strange it says just knit two together we will show you why or explain them or explain the clause with with this yarn I made it on this side just so you could see there are the difference because these stitches are slip knit lifts slip stitch over and this is just two together and we think that two together looks better then slip and knit and lift because you kind of you get kind of a balcony this is flatter yeah so when you do it the way that you knitting two together it means you have a smoother smoother transition I think it's because there are always two stitches in between all decreases so this looks much nicer so if you think there's something wrong in the pattern it's not because this is the way we like it but there I mean again there's always so many different ways to do it and the way the way that creates this little line here that would have been too for the pattern right yeah we're doing a color work harder than is different you want and you want the stitches to kind of face each other that comes later that comes later yeah but that that would have been a way to do it but we're saying that because there's no color there there's no need and then you get a smoother transition when you're decreasing that looks better I think it it looks nicer yeah no but that's a good that's a good explanation but then for the three other hats there are different ways of decreasing because of the color work so I can show on this pedagogic needles and educational needles yeah and it's important in these hats you know because of the color work pattern it is important that you follow up a method so that it doesn't look strange on the top I would say so we want to do we want to give people a little which one I got to talk about first oh it's all all three of them because there are like a little bit of everything especially on this ice a little bit of everything I if I remember correctly that one also yeah so this is like how this decrease looks in the top so the diagram will also look a little bit the chart the short will look a little bit different because of the pattern so you see this one actually shapes a star oh that's very nice on the top and then you've got this one that is like everything's coming out from the center yeah that's a very nice one too so the the fish but you go to the fish bone or sorry people no this is the fish bone yeah some people say it looks like a tree also it could be a boat it disappears into nothing hmm so what we will show you is when you need to together different ways so say this if this was if the black on this one if the blue was part of the pattern and the orange was the background color and you want to show the blue then you do it a decrease through the back loop or like it twisted twisted knit to twisted together that is in English too to a TBL through the back loop through the back loop yeah TBL means through the back loop so that's how you do will you go in the back and knit like that then you see the blue and up the top so that's why one way you can do it to keep the blue but you could also slip it and knit and lift over then you also get the blue on top okay but it actually sometimes the pattern says slip knit slip stitch over but very often we just go through the back loop like this because it's quicker yeah it's more efficient and it looks more or less the same if you really want to look for a difference so worried what would be the difference do you know then you have to examine I have to really know I can't see a difference you see so two different ways to do the same thing yeah but then if if the knit two together has the the second color is part of the pattern then you knit two together normal way hmm then you go in front like this and you need two together then you get the blue on top so that's the difference in some of the hats you want to show the pattern so sometimes you do like this - together normal way and sometimes you do two together from the back loop or twisted I like the Norwegian style the red to the red summit - twisted twisted we don't know the direct translation because you go in back like this and you twist the stitch so that's the two the ways we decrease on these hats and there's another way also it's called in English where you slip slip and then you knit but see when you hold the yarn the Norwegian way you get a little bit confused after slip step because what are you doing now is they're going it doesn't work so but I think the two together twisted is actually a really good decrease when it comes to getting the stitches to to go towards the center to base yeah yeah from the kind of face each other and go towards the center of the hole towards the 0.2 the airport's the zero so that's the decreases you need to know to make these huts yeah and remember that it's not set in stone if you want to decrease the conventional way you can do it yeah we're just offering you an alternative and explaining why we think it looks nicer but it's up to you really all of these things can be done in many different ways although we do hardly recommend you use the decreases we showed you for these hats well you do have the pattern on the way up so that it can create those pretty little patterns as well I especially love the little star here on because if this is too twisted together or the slip knit one of those but if you if you did it the other way like some if you've suddenly in the middle of this lines did two together then this light color will disappear and you won't have these lines but this is like for the knit two together on the right side and two together no for the slip knit lift slip stitch over or to it to twisted together on the right side and knit two together on the left side sometimes you actually have to shake it as you go and use common sense and see how it looks on your garment because sometimes actually just knit two together looks nicer yeah so use your common sense that's the that's one of the other things that is also handy tip yeah you can go far in life by coming I think I agree yeah so are know with that being said are we reaching the end of this opposite are and this is just a beginning of a huge collection of hats in development we yeah Elton I really love them I mean especially these graphic ones I just a quick recap of not the names because we've already said that twice but this is a houndstooth pattern that we have converted into a knitted pattern very cool you've got the fishbone pattern that some people said look like trees but they are actually fishbone and then finally we have a really cool graphic graphic geometric pattern it's a little bit of a kind of when you look at it it could be a little 3d I've seen this also used on Swedish patterns for socks yes we have all booklet upstairs you had Swedish patterns we got in Japan and there's similar graphic patterns to this yeah very very cool and we also like to do the felt that wheel hats with this long rib when we go skiing this is so comfy oh yeah you sent because it sits nicely on your head and it's very warm when you get this over your ear yeah will be nice and toasty for the rest of the season on a skiing season which is very good yes so that's it for this so thank you so much for watching and if you really want to keep in touch with us the mailing list is the best option we post we send out a lot of emails and you would always be the first to know when we're on tour and things like that so make sure to subscribe to our mailing list you can access the little opt-in box at our website at RNA and Carlos comm so see you next week we're very much looking forward to bringing you new tutorials every week remember we post on Sundays at 6 p.m. Central European Time [Music] you
